‘Katie where is your Grams.’ Matts asked during breakfast.

‘Now someone is talking to me.’ She hissed and continued her meal while Nectar looked on.

‘I’m ready to talk after breakfast if you promise not to judge me Katie.’ Matts finally said which followed with flashes of smile between them.

Nectar sighed heavily. He was glad the tension between them was over. They ate in silence until Kate remembered she had to work.

‘Stacy can you bring the reports to the house as I asked yesterday.’ Katie said on the phone after breakfast.

When she hanged up, she felt a shadow on her and ignored until Nectar spoke up.

‘Kate, I couldn’t help but eavesdrop on your conversation with Stacy.’ Nectar tried to make a conversation even though he was aware he might receive the cold attitude again.

‘And what exactly was it that you heard? I don’t eavesdrop on your calls to Pearl so why are you monitoring me.’ Kate finally said with a smile that confused Nectar again.

‘Kate let’s not keep fighting over this girl and as you said she’s just a bar attendant who you are much more valuable than.’

‘Really?’ She shook her head.

‘Yes. It was just a onetime thing even before I met you and the rest is business.’ Nectar opened up to his wife who just occupied the whole bed with her legs.

‘Oh now you admit you had something with her.’

‘Not really bu…….’ He couldn’t finish before she dropped her next question.

‘So you sleeping with her before we met, you think was right. I can’t imagine you in her arms.’

‘Kate, it’s just busin…..’

Nectar interrupted again.

‘What business do you have with a bar attendant that she keeps calling you every night.’ Kate muttered and was expecting an answer. ‘Answer me Nectar.’ She yelled now.

‘Bring your voice down.’

‘Why should I?’ She asked angrily.

‘Matts is used to our fights over unnecessary things but your Grams is still new here. We don’t want to give her the wrong impression Kate.’ Nectar said calmly.

‘You think you can hide behind the curtains to do whatever you feel like but incase you do make sure you use the guest room.’ Kate said loudly again.

‘What is wrong with your brain Kate and you just didn’t tell that to my face.’ Nectar was getting angry unnecessarily.

‘Oh yes i did. What are you going to do about it?’ Kate snarled.

‘I just told you Pearl is just a bar attendant. I know i’m married to you and can’t see other women. I have accepted that since I met you in that bar but what part of that obligation do you fulfil.’

‘What was that supposed to mean?’

‘You parade yourself in the kitchen and that is it. Give me a break here Kate because marriage is more than that. I was going to let go but you came back yourself wanting this so you must as well do it right Kate.’

‘Don’t insult me Nectar.’

He had swallowed his emotions for a while and thought it was time to bring it all out.

‘Probably nobody taught you what the duties of a wife is but you just don’t take over the kitchen, you take charge of your bedroom too. Besides I could get any girl I want out there, but i’m still glued to you because I’m hoping someday you would just wake up and give up this attitude.’ He muttered and regretted his choice of words.

Just then a knock came on the door.

They both looked from one corner of their eyes to another and Nectar strolled down to the door where Kate just sat on her bed as if reality just hit her so hard.

‘Matts what is it this time.’ Nectar asked angrily.

‘You couples were so loud earlier but i came to tell your wife her secretary is here.’

‘Matts, make her feel comfortable, I will join her soon.’ Kate finally found her voice shouting out to Matts outside the door.

She took herself from her bed feeling so heavy everywhere and walked pass her husband.

‘We are not done here yet. ‘ She murmured.

Nectar just jerked his neck to her direction and thought to himself the trouble he married.

“Stacy,” Kate called descending while she sprung up from her seat. “Take it easy Stacy, just have a seat.”

That same minute Jane strolled from her room down the stairs and lost her balance when their eyes met. She practically dropped the Mug in her hands on the floor.

Kate turned around to meet Nectars gaze fully on Stacy. She ignored him and rushed to her Grams. Kate wasn’t sure why he followed her downstairs.

‘Grams you should be careful when walking in flip-flops. I hope you are not hurt.’ Kate reached out to help Jane pick herself up, but it looks like she was out of her mind for a while.

‘Ouuch.’ Jane winced.

‘Grams are you okay? I thought you just lost your balance but now you look like you’ve just seen a ghost.’ Kate asked wondering why Nectar and Jane decided to just stare at Stacy.

‘Stacy where are you off to.’ Kate said when she saw Stacy running off to the door. ‘Grams have a seat here.’ Kate pointed to where Stacy vacated earlier.

‘Miss I have to get going. Mom just texted me that she’s back to the hospital again.’ Stacy stammered to convince.

At this point Jane raised her head for the first time after she sat down and tried to look in Stacy’s direction but she was already out of the door.

“What is going on with this girl?” Kate hissed.

Just then her Phone rang. She glanced at the caller I.D for a while and handed it over to her Grams.

‘Grams it’s Dad, I think he might be trying to reach you through me. Talk to him.’ Kate said, handed the phone over to Jane and left.

‘Matts, can we have that talk now?’ Kate said while barging in on her.

‘Katie you just woke me up for one stupid gist.’ Matts said trying to get the sleep off her face.

‘Stupid gist but i still want to know wh…..’

‘Before you say anything, I was going to tell you immediately it happened but I realized I messed up so I kept it to myself.’ Matts said and Kate reached out for a hug.

‘What was that for?’ Matts asked.

‘Drake told me everything.’ Kate finally confessed.

Matt’s closed her eyes for a second.

‘Oh really, what exactly did he tell you now?’ Matt’s asked bluntly.

‘How he treated you after the sex. I hope he came over to your office because i told him to make things right.’ Kate revealed.

‘So that was you Katie, I thought he did that himself. You know what tell him to stay out of my reach.’

‘Wait, i thought you would be happy now that i know.’

‘Katie, If a grown up should be asked to apologize to a lady he wronged then i think he is really dumb.’ Matts flared up.

‘Calm down, you are angry. Yes! Drake I know has always been a jerk when it comes to women. I could have warned you if you had told me how you felt about him but I will talk to him again.’ Kate said feeling sorry for her friend.

‘What’s the point, he is still hang up on a love that you would never return. Don’t worry I’m fine.’ Matts said wiping her eyes.

‘Wow!’ Kate reached out with the pillow to wipe her face.

‘Really, a pillow?’ Matt’s laughed.

‘It’s been years since you cared about a guy this way. Should i be worried?’ Katie muttered rubbing her belly.

‘I don’t know what’s wrong with me.’ She cried and Kate found it funny.

‘Just laugh so loud right now.’

‘That won’t solve my problems Katie.’

‘Okay, what do you need now.’

‘Lots of food.’

‘Great, i’m off to the kitchen.’ Kate announced and tapped her gently. She flashed her a smile and Kate rushed out.

Catherine has been giving her husband a lot of pressures lately. She wanted him to tell Kate the truth. Though he was always the angry type, that day he was calm which surprised Catherine so she decided to raise the topic again.

‘Wilson, I’ve been trying to get you to have that talk with your daughter but you still haven’t though i’ve tried my best to stop her from coming here and you know she is finally trying to remember past which would make her hate you more unless you talk to her before she does.’

‘I know I messed up that day but I have paid for it. Let’s handle the other issue first.’ Wilson replied to Catherine’s ranting.

‘Now you know how to soften up to me right. I’m not going to take care of this one for you when she decides to hang you to die.’ Catherine said mischievously.

‘Mind your business woman.’ He flared up. ‘I’m warning you and you don’t have the right to talk to me anyhow because of a simple mistake. I was drunk after Claudia’s ten years demise.’

‘It was a memory I tried to push away and I drank too much. I’m sure I wouldn’t have tried to rape my ten year old daughter if I was sober. You know me Catherine, I’m a lot of things with you but I couldn’t do that to an innocent child.’

‘But you still raped me Wilson, not only that day I had to drag you off Kate but several times. I still have the video from the house help.’ Catherine chipped in with tears.

‘And I’m paying for it now.’

‘With what exactly?’ Catherine seemed not to understand her husband anymore.

‘You think i’m hard on Kate? No, I’ve been hard on myself rather because I can’t look her in the eyes knowing I nearly destroyed her. I did my best to give her the best marriage and i’ve protected her in so many ways I thought was best to make the past right.’ He pushed his emotions aside.

‘But she still needs to know, it’s messing her mind up. I had to just tell someone.’ Nectar suggests you tell her yourself Wilson.’

‘You told Nectar about this? Catherine how dare you do that to me.’ Wilson said angrily.

‘Someone has to know, she would need her husband when she finally remembers and goes off again. You know what happened after that ordeal, seventeen years ago. This is a burden I’ve carried for so long so lift it up my shoulders.’ Catherine said now running into Wilson’s arms crying.

‘Catherine, she keeps hanging up on me. Should I chase her around? Let it go!’ Wilson fumed, pushed Catherine onto the King size bed and stormed out.

She glared at his body in the duvet, it wasn’t as if she could see him through but she slowly pushed herself inside the duvet and closer. Kate made to touch him for two times before she gathered the courage and held him signaling him to turn around.

‘Are you okay?’ Nectar asked and Kate nodded.

‘I’m sorry about earlier this morning. I just want you to know you are not been fair. We are in this together, not the other way round.’ Nectar said remorsefully.

‘Okay, i’m sorry too. So what now?’ She asked.

‘So trust me I don’t have any feelings for Pearl. She was just a girl from my past but happen to have some information’s on the happenings at the bar we met at and the hotel..’ Nectar was trying to explain himself when Kate interrupted.

‘Can we try tonight rather.’ Kate said with an obvious shaking voice.

Before Nectar could ask try what she held his face up and gave him a slight kiss and coiled in the duvet like a small kid.

She let go and Nectar kept staring for a while before he interrupted his own thoughts.

‘Try that you mean.’ He pointed to his waist. Kate nodded again.

‘I don’t want to stress you if you are not up for it.’ Nectar tried to pretend when in his mind he was smiling.

‘Nectar don’t do this again, I admit I said i wasn’t attracted to you yet but I don’t want you running off into Pearls arms. Would it bother you if I just lay down like a piece of log?’ Kate said shyly.

He ignored her questioned, laughed and kissed her. Nectar was gentle with squeezing the juice out of her.

They kissed passionately for a few more minutes before he positioned himself beside her. He sure knew what to do in her state, he was so careful about her fat belly.

After some few minutes, she felt him quivering beside her. She just let out a quick moan and gave him a fake smile.

Her greatest fear just presented itself and Nectar wasn’t bothered at all.

‘Don’t look that way. I know it was too quick but please bear with me. We will get there Kate. Nectar said with closed eyes. Then she knew he was bothered about the turn out.

Kate said goodnight and sorted herself out and slept off. She woke up and Nectar’s gaze was on her.

‘Did you get any sleep at all?’ Kate asked taking her face away from his gaze.

‘How can I sleep when I have an angel right here beside me to take care of?’ Nectar replied with a smile.

‘Thank you but you look sad to me though you are trying to mask it so well.’

‘Can we talk about last night?’ Nectar finally asked trying to remember the failure of the previous night.

‘No Nectar let’s leave it for tomorrow to take care of.’ Kate said to avoid the topic.

‘Kate we need to talk about this now because it won’t solve itself. There is a difference between what we had the last time in the bathroom than last night. What triggered it?’ Nectar was saying then Matts barged in crying.

‘Matts can’t you knock.’ They both chorused and shifted their attention to her when they realized she was sobbing.

Nectar jumped from the bed, pulling the duvet off Kate who didn’t mind she was unclad.

Kate rushed to cover herself with the duvet Nectar left on the floor in order to attend to her crying friend who was now launching herself on the floor.

“Katie, Mandela is dead.” Matts blurted out.

At first, Kate thought she was dreaming but then she felt Nectar taping her and she came out of her trance.

‘Say that again Matts. How?’

‘Katie come downstairs, the police are here to speak with you.’

‘Kate take it easy, you don’t need to stress yourself.’ Nectar said while attending to Kate who collapsed earlier over the death of Mandy.

‘How do i stay calm?’

‘Everyone is shaken and I know you loved the guy but should that be enough reason to starve your children.’ Nectar asked bringing Kate out of her trance.

‘Nectar sorry you feel that way, I know it’s a total disrespect to our marriage so I will eat now.’ Kate said raising herself up from the bed.

‘Great, let me tell Matt’s.’ He was walking away when she called him back.

‘So something is bothering me Nectar.’

‘What is it?’

‘Why did the detective keep saying you were the last person to see Mandy alive because I know you saw him some weeks ago when he was here but not recently.’ Kate asked and Nectar’s face colored up. Kate noticed he was nervous.

‘Nectar look at me, what are you not telling me?’ Kate focusing on his colored face.

‘Yes I saw him two days ago, Kate. But it’s not what you think.’ Nectar confessed’.

“Start talking because i’m listening.” Kate said now adjusting herself.

‘Mandy contacted me a week ago.’ Nectar said while Kate’s face was covered with confusion.

‘Nectar you have killed me, to think you didn’t want me contacting him. I respected your decision and we parted ways. What exactly do you have to discuss with him to the extent of seeing him behind my back.’ Kate said calmly.

‘Please it’s not what you think and I hope you are not thinking I had something to do with his murder.’ Nectar said moving towards Kate’s direction.

‘Nectar I trust you, I know you are capable of silly mistakes just to get Mandy out of my life but not murder.’ Kate said now holding his hands.

‘Thank you Kate for trusting me. He claimed he had some information on who took the pictures at the hotel and the attack on your life and we were going to work together as he promised to send me some evidence.’ Nectar finally said confused.

‘Work together?’ Kate didn’t understand what he meant by that.

‘Yes, to unravel the truth behind your ordeals recently.’

‘Wait! When was he to send you that?’ Kate asked curiously.

‘That was yesterday.’ Nectar replied.

‘Nectar I have a bad feeling about this, whoever killed Mandy did that because he knew something so you need to be careful.’ Kate said with fear.

Nectar sighed heavily when Kate didn’t make a big issue out of everything that just happened.

He saw his wife going through her phone angrily and decided to give her space so he walked out to get her the food.

‘Mom, where was Dad yesterday!’ Kate asked her Mom who came to visit upon hearing the news.

‘He was home throughout my dear. Don’t tell me you are suspecting him.’ Catherine muttered.

‘Since he has refused to treat anyone right, why won’t I suspect him?’ Kate said with hatred breeding in her voice.

‘Kate, your Dad is a lot of things but not a murderer and I hope you would forgive him someday when he open up to you.’ She told her daughter plainly.

‘Mom you are talking like you are hiding something from me. Don’t let me find out you are protecting Dad again, I only forgave you for your betrayal the last time because I realized you were only a victim and has suffered enough.’ Kate warned.

‘Alright but I thought you said Jane is with you. Haven’t seen her since I came.’ Catherine asked Kate while looking around.

‘I know you just changed the topic but Granny went out, she should be on her way soon. And mom she is behaving strangely these days. Most at times out of her mind.’ Kate confided in her mom.

‘Really, I know when she feels lonely, she starts to be paranoid.’ Catherine confessed.

‘How bad is that paranoia mom because I need healthy children! They can’t inherit any strange illness.’

Catherine laughed at Kate’s naive comment.

‘How is that going, you feel fine right.’ She laughed. ‘And are you happy you would soon become a mother?’ Catherine asked.

‘Of course mom and I’m married to a doctor so I’m fine. Thank you mom for talking me into marrying Nectar.’ Kate said and rested her head on her mom’s shoulders.

‘Don’t thank me yet, when you become a mother then you will understand the sacrifices you need to make for your children. But i’m glad you are giving the gentle man a chance. Catherine said and smiled.

‘He is so understanding, not perfect but I understand you haven’t thought me anything about marriage yet, so mom can you tell me how I can fall in love with my husband and give out myself without feeling I have betrayed my body.’ Kate asked her mom shyly.

‘Where is that coming from dear?’

‘Mom, I still haven’t been able to give myself out freely and nectar seems to have a tough time handling that though it worries me, but I’m trying my best and it feels like I might lose him soon if I don’t do anything about it.’ Kate complained.

‘Kate this is between you and your husband, you should sit down and discuss it but I must say you just need to open up your mind, your heart and the rest will follow. And stop behaving like a baby already.’ Catherine advised.

‘Was that what you did with Dad when my mom died?

‘I’ve always loved your dad even before your mom passed on so i guess i didn’t have much work to do.’ She frowned when Kate wasn’t watching.

‘Okay mom, but i miss you.’

‘And i’m here, silly girl.’

They both ended up laughing.

Stacy pulled up at Kate’s favorite coffee bar, where she normally fetches her bosses’ morning coffee. She was startled by a shadow. Stacy looked up then Jane shoved her an eye.

‘Mom what are you doing here. You came to finish what you started right?’

‘Ahuh!’

‘How did you even know I came to this coffee shop?’ Stacy asked Jane.

‘Look young girl, you better respect me. Had it not been me, you wouldn’t be here now. So you better buckle up and let’s finish this. I’m closer to Kate now so it’s easier to take her out.’ Jane cautioned Stacy.

‘Mom, I don’t want to do this again and I don’t feel like you are my mummy anymore.’

‘Where did you get that rubbish from?’

Mother’s don’t push their children to the wall. I want out and i’m telling Kate everything tomorrow.’ Stacy told Jane angrily.

‘You had better not do that or I will skin you alive because i should have left you to die in that incubator but no I rescued you.’ Jane said forgetting Stacy had no idea she wasn’t her real mom.

‘What did you say mom. Which incubator! Who am I Mummy Jane.’ Stacy said almost crying.

Jane stood up with her bag, regretting what she just told the innocent girl.

‘You know where to find me, if you change your mind. And you better not try anything funny because Kate won’t believe a lunatic like you.’

She stormed out of there leaving Stacy in tears.

Matts and Nectar was sitting in the dinning watching Kate and her Grams giggle while tidying up with Kate sitting and lazing around throughout.

Nectar flashed an eye to Matt’s direction.

‘What is going on there you need to handle Nectar, before the worse happens.’

‘I can’t do anything for now.’

‘You just told me Jane is dangerous for some weird reasons, why would you support her stay in this house.’ Matts whispered to avoid getting caught this time.

‘Bu….’

Matt’s interrupted him quickly.

‘For Stacy i always knew she was too good to be true. Her name popped up while investigating the LITDEVIL5 account.’

‘Alright.’

‘Just alright? Nectar you need to contain Jane before she commits another crime.’

Then the doorbell rang which startled Jane who was obviously pretending to help Kate tidy up and everyone’s attention was directed to the entrance.

‘Nectar are you expecting someone.’ Kate shouted out to her husband who was confused for no reason, as well as her Grams who looked so scared.

For some weird reasons there was so much tension around that morning. Matts thought.

‘Why are you all ignoring the door?’ Matts broke the silence. She quickly rushed to the door after shouting, ‘Hold on. I will get it!’

‘What are you doing here.’ Matts glared at the figure in front of her.

Drake flashed her a smile.

‘It’s not funny Drake, stop stalking me everywhere. I don’t want your friendship. Just keep it.’ Matts was about to say something when he interrupted.

‘I’m here to see Kate, so relax Matilda.’ He said and smiled

Matts feigned a smile and embarrassment flashed her face.

‘So can I come in now?’ Drake asked while Kate kept shouting from her sitting position.

‘Kate its Drake.’ He replied to her shouting’s.

‘Matts will you let the gentle man in and close both your mouth and the door.’ Kate said teasing.

She gave him way to pass and closed the door behind him angrily.

‘Drake what are you doing here without even a call.’ Kate asked when he finally stopped staring at Matt’s and walked closer to kate.

‘That’s rude Kate, allow the gentle man to have a seat first.’ Jane cautioned while moving upstairs.

‘Kate I have the details on what you asked for.’ Drake whispered.

‘Let me have it.’ Kate asked excited.

‘Are you sure you are medically fit to check this alone? Call nectar or my lady there.’ Drake said rolling his eye to the direction Matts and Nectar were earlier.

‘Drake I have survived worse, but I would be disappointed if she is not my sister.’

‘Take it easy Kate, before you open though. Even if she is, that doesn’t explain where she has been all these while and why she changed her year of birth on her documents.’ Drake confirmed.

‘I’m not really concerned about that now, i’m sure she will explain when I speak with her.’

Kate said and picked up her phone checking the caller I.D while walking away and whispering to Drake to talk to Matts.

Drake contemplated for a while and stood up strolling to Matts and Nectars end.

‘Sis, I think he is coming to your end so I need to go, all the best.’ Nectar whispered and rushed towards where his wife entered earlier.

‘Matts please don’t go; I want us to talk about this tension between us.’ Drake said finally catching up with Matts who was rushing towards her room.

Standing by her door, half opened she thought of just entering and closing the door in his face. That would be rude and stupid she said rather loudly then gasping for air when she realized Drake was so close to her face now.

She closed her eyes hoping Drake would just kiss her already, when the part of her mind with a conscience thought of pushing him away.

‘Drake this can’t happen and you know why?’ Matts said so unsure because her body was already betraying her.

‘Why is that Matt’s? But considering the fact that your eyes are still closed I know you really want this?’ Drake said playing with her feelings again.

‘Please don’t.’ She said so sure this time and rushed in leaving the door for him.

‘Matts get a grip on yourself, I just want us to talk. Nothing will happen if we both don’t allow it.’

There was silence for a while.

‘Make it snappy then.’ Matts finally swallowed her pride and confirmed.

Drake glanced at the neatly laid bed and smiled.

‘And don’t even think about sitting on that bed, you can stand or take the couch.’ Matts quickly said before Drake could settle on her bed beside her.

Drake took a step back quietly as a good small boy obeying her mom and off he settled on the couch.

Another silence hour between Drake and Matts who obviously were undressing themselves with their eyes.

‘Nice room you have here.’ Drake said breaking the tension.

‘Say what you came here for and leave me alone, I already have a headache around you.’ Matts said taking her eyes off Drake.

‘Do you need to be rude all the time Matts, I know you love me which I have come into terms with?’

‘What exactly are you saying now Drake, you can’t love me? It’s impossible for you so don’t pretend you care too much about my already broken heart.’ Matts said avoiding his gaze.

‘Matts could you not complicate things now. I must admit I’m beginning to like you but this your saucy attitude is pushing me away already.’

She raised up her head, and finally looked into his face while he smiled.

‘Stacy don’t tell me you are working today been a Saturday.’ Kate told Stacy over the phone after she realized it was her office line calling.

‘Miss Please I want to ask for a favor, and i’m not working.’ Stacy said in a rather feeble voice.

‘Stacy go ahead i’m listening.’ Kate said smiling reminding herself she could be talking to her sister as she hasn’t read the DNA result Drake brought.

‘I want us to have that talk, I know you always wanted me to open up to you Mrs. Glover.’

Kate sighed heavily.

‘Stacy why don’t you come home so we talk because I also want to talk to you.’ Kate said with smiles.

‘I’m afraid I can’t come to your house Miss. I can’t let my mom know i talked to you.’

‘Okay, wait for me at the office I will be there in an hour.’ Kate said and quickly hanged up wondering why Stacy was scared of coming home.

She hurriedly brushed her hair and then changed her shirt. Her heart was skipping which was unusual.

‘Where do you think you are going to in an hours’ time?’ Kate heard Nectars voice behind her. Was he eavesdropping again?’ She whispered silently and turned around.

‘I finally found out what your interest in Kate is.’ Andy confronted Jane over a drink in Kate’s favorite bar.

‘Young man, I pay you to work for me. Stop poking your nose in my personal affair.’ Jane flared up.

If I’m going to put my life on the line for you and your weird obsession to cause harm to your granddaughter because you hate your son for marrying her care taker then you need to pay double for what you are already paying me Jane.’

Though I still don’t get why you hate Catherine that much since she only took care of Kate the best way she could but wouldn’t it make sense if you were going after your son or Catherine.’

‘I said stop talking Andy.’

Andy has always been strong headed. ‘You never liked Catherine for your Son and Wilson hasn’t been there for you since she showed up but should that make you want to kill his only child.’

‘You think you have everything figured out but you forgot you are the evil one here.’ Jane muttered.

‘I think you are sick in the head. Love isn’t by force Jane so get that into your thick head. I hope karma catches up with you soon.’ Andy cursed sternly.

‘Are you in or out gentle man? Jane asked almost standing up bumping into the waitress who served them earlier.

Wait Jane, i’m in but double the price.’ Andy blurted out with a weird grin.

‘That’s fine if you promise to do well this time.’ Jane said and walked out.

‘Nectar don’t try stopping me. I need to handle this alone please.’ Kate though was angry her husband keeps eavesdropping on her conversations said rather calmly.

‘I can’t stop you from going out, I just want to go with you.’ Nectar couldn’t possibly tell her wife the main reason she shouldn’t meet Stacy is because he found out Stacy was the devil that poisoned him.

‘Nectar I just don’t want you around, I have my reasons. Trust me its best if I go alone or with Grams.’ Kate said while nectar frowned.

‘I agree you should go but not with your Grams, besides she went out when you came in here and she isn’t back yet.’ Nectar said avoiding the facts to his suggestions earlier.

‘Nectar i’m not stupid, you keep hiding things from me forgetting you are easy to read. This better not be about Pearl again.’ She said and stormed out, knowing that is the only way she could stop him from following her to the office.

She knocked thrice on her way out and there wasn’t any response. Kate peeped in regretting she interrupted a perfect moment.

Matts and Drake were busy devouring each other’s lips when Kate interrupted.

‘Matts i’m sorry, my eyes were closed when I entered.’ Kate said standing by the door with her hands still covering her face while smiling.

‘You can take your hands off now.’ Matts said pushing Drake away from her body.

‘I just wanted to inform you I would be out for a while.’ Kate said still shying away from their faces. ‘Drake, she called so i’m meeting her up in my office. Until i’m back don’t leave.’

‘I think I should come with you.’ Drake said which startled Kate, since her eyes were closed she had no idea Drake was now standing in front of her.

‘No Drake, I need to do this alone besides Matts wants a repeat of what you started earlier.’ She said smiling.

‘Come on Kate, you are such a baby!’ Drake said while Matts looked on shyly. ‘But are you sure you can handle her?’

‘If I need help, I have you on speed dial Drake so concentrate on your lady. She likes to be teased first so make that happen and you will have your way.’

Kate whispered to Drake who just smiled and took another look at Matts who was still fidgeting with her fingers while Kate walked backwards.

‘Matts see you later, I will get the gist when I get back.’ Kate shouted already out of the door.

‘Pearl, as I explained in the text message kindly do your best. I need you now more than ever.’

‘What about the other thing?’

‘Which other th….. Oh yeah!’ He seemed to have remembered what it was. ‘We will look at the other thing you chanced upon later but for now I need you to be smart about this.’

Nectar quickly hanged up after talking to Pearl. Just then she saw Kate walking through the door and waved her with a fake smile showing his displeasure.

Few minutes into her drive she called up Stacy.

‘Stacy are you still at the office because i’m on my way.’ Kate was talking while constantly looking into her side mirror.

‘Yes Mi..ss.’ She stuttered obviously nervous.

‘I will see you there soon. She quickly hanged up and pulled out of her lane and packed three meters away from her office.

The Toyota corolla following her stopped a few distances away from her car.

Kate waited for a while since the corolla was not ready to move, she got out of her car and walked down to it.

She opened the door unannounced which startled the driver.

‘So it’s you! Why are you following me around Pearl?’ She recognized her instantly but there was something different about her. She seemed to Kate too sophisticated to be a bar attendant. Kate thought!

Pearl who was on phone quickly tried to hang up. But before she could say let me call you back, she received her first slap.

Kate quickly grabbed the phone which fell on Pearls lap after the slap.

‘Nectar I know it’s you, I will deal with you later but tell your business whore to stay out of my way.’

Kate waited for a response but received none. ‘Keep breathing and not say anything. You better have some good explanation before I get back home or that air you keep blowing into my ears for the past five seconds is the last one you would take.’

Kate said and hanged up checking the caller I.D then she hissed.

‘Really, Sweet Glover!’ Kate flared up. ‘Take your phone and drive off my way.’ Pearl grabbed the phone from Kate who was already out of her way.

She took another look at Kate and showed no sign of jealousy or fear, then she drove off.

Kate didn’t want to go back home immediately since Stacy was waiting for her so she drove closer to her office and walked in obviously sad.

‘Drake, what was that all about with Katie? You two were talking in parables. Would you mind briefing me?’ Matts said rolling her eyes.

‘Is someone jealous now after all the talk and emotions we just poured out to each other?’ Drake asked.

‘I’m not jealous, just concerned where she is running off to in that her condition.’ Matts tried to hide her jealousy.

‘Matts relax, she will be fine. She wants to see her P.A at her office.’ Drake said and got the loudest yell out of his life.

‘WHAT!’ Matts yelled and stood up instantly. ‘I need to get to her office now.’

‘You heard her, she wants to be alone besides she has me on speed dial and we could rush there if she needs help. Stacy as secretive as she may seem is harmless so relax my dear, let’s make good use of the time.’

Matts looked up at Drake who was already giving her winks.

“Get a life Drake.” She hit him on the chest and walked back to the bed which he followed immediately.

‘Stacy, I’ve been here for ten minutes and you keep moving up and down.’

‘Miss I’m really sorry for hurting you this way but I just don’t know how to start.’ Stacy said looking away through the window hiding her tears from Kate.

‘Okay that’s fine. Why don’t you have a seat and we start from how old you are.’ Kate said grabbing her attention.

Mrs Glover, did you just ask for my age. I had th..at on my ap..plicat.ion form.’ She stammered.

‘Let’s just say, I have forgotten. Just come closer because I’m not going to eat you up Stacy.’

She walked aimlessly for a while then settled opposite Kate acting nervously.

‘Stacy this desk is very dirty, is this how you handle things in my absence.’ Kate’s question created more tension when her intention was to make Stacy laugh.

The look on Stacy’s face scared her and she had to change her approach.

‘Where do you come from? And any living Parents.’ Kate asked watching her reaction.

‘I’m not sure I know my origin anymore though forty-eight hours ago I was so sure I knew my mom.’

‘What about your Dad?’

‘My Dad I never got to meet and i’m not sure he wanted me to be born in the first place.’

‘Why do you say that when you have never met him?’

‘Mom always said, my step sister was the preferred one.’ Stacy said crying while Kate handed her a tissue trying to control her own tears.

There was silence for a while.

‘But Stacy, this doesn’t explain why you called me here.’ Kate tried to force words out of her.

‘I want to resign and I hope you would accept my letter.’ She said focusing on her bag, brought out the white envelope she fixed earlier.

‘Stacy, what is this? You want to resign, fine but not until you explain why you try poisoning my husband.’

Stacy nearly collapsed on the chair.

‘Hello.’ Kate tried to bring her out of her reverie. ‘Why did you disguise yourself and poisoned Nectar his office?’

‘Mrs Glover, I can explain please don’t throw me in jail.’ Stacy pleaded now on her knees.

‘I have no intentions of doing that yet, if I had I would have weeks ago when you came to my house frightened over a mere image. I looked you up again, though I knew you have some other explanations to make, it doesn’t still explain why you have to involve my husband.’

‘Forgive me.’ She cried.

‘Do you have a problem with me? Have I ever treated you unfairly?’ Kate said now getting angry.

Stacy nodded her head.

‘You had better start talking if you don’t want me throwing your stupid ass in jail. I might even forget you are my… assistant.’ Kate realized she was going to say sister when she hasn’t even read the DNA test report yet.

‘Mrs Glover, I’m sorry. I was just paid to do that and I have no idea who. I needed the money for my Mom’s treatment.’ Stacy said still on her knees.

‘Couldn’t you have asked for a raise or probably talk to me. I would have helped without even blinking.’ Kate said calming down, though she somehow felt the girl who was almost her age was lying to her but she just didn’t want to raise her hopes of finding a sister in her yet.

‘I’m  sorry again.’ Stacy readjusted herself on her knees.

‘Now get up, you will find out whoever paid you and report back to me. Then apologize to my husband. I don’t know why I’m so attached to you yet but I will find out but if you try anything funny again, I will personally throw you in jail. Do you understand me?’

Kate said standing up while Stacy was still on her knees without looking in her boss’s direction.

‘Thank you Miss.’

‘Take back this letter, rewrite your contract indicating you would put up a good behavior from now onwards and if you don’t I should fire you and throw you in jail.’

‘Huh!’ Stacy exclaimed.

‘Yes, then bring it over to the house and I would sign it.’ Kate said and paused at the door, looked through her bag and wrote a cheque. ‘Take that and sort out yourself then get back to work.’ She said and walked out of the door.

Stacy sprawled on the floor. She thought Kate would read her letter so she wouldn’t have to say anything since her mom might be watching her every move.

Matts quivered clenching to the bed sheets while moaning loudly. Drake embarrassed with his current environment kept covering her mouth when she gets so excited and wants to shout.

Another thrust, a moan followed by flashes of smile and they both collapsed on each side of the bed.

‘You know I still don’t love you right but I like you.’

‘Drake I understand so let’s not keep talking about feelings.’ Matts said raising her head off Drakes chest finally looking into his eyes.

‘Good.’

‘Can we go for another round before someone comes knocking again?’ Matts said while Drake just kept staring at her.

‘I’m exhausted Matts. Let’s get some sleep first, I just got off your body very hungry and fully spent though i must admit this your stamina I might not be able to match up with.’

‘Drake are you changing your mind already. Don’t do this to me again.’ Matts said raising herself off his body as she jumped there earlier for her third round which was denied.

‘No, I want to be with you but you should as well learn to control yourself. Whatever we agree to shouldn’t only be about sex Matts.’

‘Drake is this about Kate again? You can’t bear the thought of sharing your body with me because you keep thinking about her.’ Matts said almost in tears.

‘Come here Matilda. I’m sorry and I didn’t mean to hurt you again.’ She went into his arms wiping her face like a child.

‘Alright.’ She sniffed.

‘Don’t be a baby all the time Matts.’ Drake said teasing.

‘I’m only a child around you which I don’t seem to understand myself either.’ Matts confirmed.

‘That’s because you love me. I can’t promise you the whole world but I will try if it doesn’t work out as we agreed on, we take a walk out.’ Drake said reminding Matts of their earlier arrangement.

‘I need just one favor Drake. Anything Matts. Just do well and stop mentioning Kate’s name during Sex.’

‘Say again? Did I Matts?’ Drake asked so embarrassed. She only nodded her head.

‘That’s fine, I mean I understand.’ She quickly said to avoid getting upset.

‘It wasn’t intentional I’m really sorry my dear.’ He gave her a tight hug which Matts had no plans of letting go.

Nectar had been trying Pearls number for hours since Kate hanged up. He sighed heavily when his phone range and it was her.

‘Handsome, prepare to explain yourself to your wife. She was crazy earlier, I had no idea she was that stupid and childish.’ Pearl didn’t wait for him to say Hello.

‘Pearl don’t call my wife names. I won’t take that from you.’

‘Wow Glover.’

‘What?’ He asked angrily. ‘You should be worried about fixing your mistakes as you are always screwing up everything.’

‘What’s that supposed to mean Glover?’

‘Exactly what you heard. I don’t know which of the schools, you passed out from but you are too slow and stupid for a detective.’ Nectar said biting his lips knowing he just insulted the one person who has the evidence he needs to end all these family drama.

‘Glover don’t insult my intelligence and accept the truth. That lioness you call a wife would never love you but she is tough enough to handle the truth. Just tell her the truth, if she can’t handle it and dies then I can now call myself lucky.’ Pearl said referring to Kate’s character earlier.

‘To think my wife as childish as you think she is, was able to spot a trained detective as you, then i think I should get another detective then, since you are so bent on ruining everything for me.’ Nectar said with a tone he had never used on pearl since they met.

‘It’s your choice Glover but don’t forget you still owe me that sex.  And you know I always get what I want as you just provoked the lioness in me.’ Pearl hissed and hanged up.

Nectar paced around chuckling.

‘Who does she think she is? Hope she won’t try anything funny.’ Nectar was still in deep thoughts when his bedroom door opened with a heavy sigh.

EPISODE 64

Matts and Drake who decided to take their party outside by the pool met Kate driving in hurriedly.

She just waved them, feigned a smile and walked inside.

‘Matilda, i have to get going now. You saw how she walked in earlier ignoring everyone. When she gets like that you just have to find your way out until she finds herself.’

‘Drake you don’t have to go, I have known Katie all my life. She will come out smiling soon.’ Matts said just to satisfy her own love agenda.

‘I know you want me to spend the whole day here, but I got to go. I’m not comfortable in this environment.’ He said and stood up.

‘I understand, I will move back to my place soon so you don’t have to see Katie all the time. I just have to make sure those two couples up there can handle themselves especially with the babies coming in soon though I’m not sure when I want to go back to my place. But I can always come to your end.’ Matts said and Drake frowning.

‘Drake sorry, I won’t push it but when you are ready to see me, you know where to find me.’ Matt’s said walking away when Jane who came home earlier interrupted.

‘Matilda I need help with some stuffs in the kitchen.’

‘Drake I will see you soon.’ She hugged him and rushed away leaving Drake to see himself out.

Kate stormed in so exhausted to the point of barely struggling with her breath. She walked to the bed and Nectar meeting her half way.

‘Kate are you okay. He asked. You look stressed.’ She just threw herself on the bed totally ignoring him.

He knelt down by the bed and stretched himself holding her hands. Kate withdrew her hands and adjusted herself to properly fit on the bed. She closed her eyes trying to catch some sleep but opened it a few minutes later staring at the ceiling, then locating her phone she threw earlier on the bed.

She stared at the text message she received while driving home. For some weird reasons she wasn’t bothered at all.

‘Nectar you can stand up now, let’s talk when I finally get some sleep and I would need something for this headache please.’ She finally spoke up faintly.

Though that wasn’t the reaction he was expecting from her, he was glad she wanted to talk. He quickly grabbed the medicine box from the drawer and fixed her some drugs. Kate slept off within minutes while Nectar kept watching her sweat out.

Nectar gave her that medication on purpose to relax her nerves when he knew all she needed was to get rid of her headache. He was sure he just created another trouble for himself but he also knew it was the right thing for her.

‘Wilson what happened to asking nicely.’ Catherine said pushing him away angrily.

‘I’m sorry I don’t know what came over me again.’

‘It seems like you have that excuse all the time.’ Catherine replied.

‘And you look weak because the Wilson I know wouldn’t get off that easily. Are the results in yet?’ Catherine walked closer to him now.

‘I need a new Kidney Catherine. My body seems to be rejecting Claudia’s after all these years.’ He said with bloodshot eyes.

Catherine went on her knees beside her husband contemplating whether to hold his hands or pull away as she can’t predict what his reaction would be.

‘Wilson can I hold you?’ She asked. He raised his head that he tried to cover in his palms which were obviously too small, stared at her for a while and stood up scratching his head.

‘Wilson you are confused, that’s your usual gesture, I mean scratching your head. Can we talk please?’ Catherine said. After all these years and his maltreatment Catherine was still being nice to him.

‘How did you know that’s my confused gesture?’ He asked walking back to the bed.

‘You just happen not to have noticed me but I do know a hundred things about you. Your likes and dislikes I have them all stacked in my mind.’ Catherine answered him while he looked on.

‘Well I obviously haven’t realized how much hatred you have built up inside for my harsh treatments but two heads are better than one.’

‘I’m not sure this is about the way I feel about you because I obviously don’t love you. Whatever I did for your family obviously is an obligation I owe Claudia for her kindness.’

‘Claudia? Obligation?’ Wilson repeated as if he had no idea of what his wife was talking about.

‘She may have made a mistake with her decisions but I was happy anytime I had to hold little Kate in my arms though your mom always never liked me because your father chose me over her.’

‘You were young Catherine.’

‘Yes, just twenty -one years and naive. I’m sure she was threatened your Dad was going to make me his second wife when he just wanted to help me as Claudia suggested to him since you hated the idea of house helps.’

‘Where’s this going Catherine?’

‘Jane still carries that hatred, I just hope she comes to her senses soon and accept i’m tied to her family now.’

‘She always knew that.’ He muttered.

‘Yes but I know she found out about Kate and if i’m not mistaken she is the one behind all these drama going on in your daughter’s life.’

‘My mom?’ He asked surprised.

‘Trust me Wilson I know she had a hand in all these attacks. She wants to get me where it hurts most and she doesn’t care if the one in the middle of all these is her own blood.’ Catherine said now holding hands with her husband for the first time as they never got to have any moments together.

It was always the cold treatments ever since Claudia asked her for that life changing favor. She was not the happiest person but she owes Claudia her life. She thought for a while and was brought out of her reverie with a loud yell from Wilson.

‘You don’t talk about my mother that way Catherine. This should be your last time you would subject her to your problems.’

Catherine didn’t even know he would suddenly react that way.

‘I’m sorry Wilson, please don’t go. Let’s talk about your health first.’ Catherine said when she realized she just lost the only chance she could get to talk with her husband.

‘I don’t think I need your help with my health and don’t wait up for me.’ Wilson said and closed the door on her face.

“I’m falling in love with this man gradually, yet he doesn’t notice but it’s best I keep my feelings to myself because i’m not sure it’s even right anymore.’ Catherine kept talking to herself after Wilson left when her phone rang. She rushed to it by the mirror.

‘Hello Kate are you okay!’ She said instantly said wiping her face.

‘Mom I’m fine.’ She said with a sad tone.

‘You sound worried. What is it princess?’

‘I know I have a sister out there and you two are hiding that from me again but that’s fine because i’m just tired of you lying to me all the time but now i Just want to find out what Dad is doing about locating her lost child.’ Kate asked her mom sarcastically.

‘Kate i’m sorry you have to find out that way.’

‘Mom let’s not start with another apology and just answer me already.’ Kate snapped.

‘Okay, he is doing his best, believe me this time he is stepping up as the father you always wanted Kate.

‘Mom why do you always have to defend this man. Are you falling for him now because I know he disgusts you and you were holding on for me but it’s time to get out now when you still have breath.’ Kate said trying not to sound bossy and angry.

‘I can’t Princess.’

‘Okay then I have to go now but take care of yourself.’ Kate hanged up and raised herself off the bed while walking towards the washroom.

‘OH you are in here.’ Kate gasped at nectar who was taking his bath. ‘I will just come back later when you are done.’ Nectar just nodded as the guilty husband he already was.

She said and walked away to the door and changed her mind. ‘Can I join you’. Kate asked looking back but still standing at the door.

Nectar stared at his wife surprised because he was expecting a reaction regarding the earlier Pearl incident. He kept staring until he was brought out of his thoughts by Kate’s cold and soft hands on his chest. He had no idea when she moved into the shower.

Stacy kept staring at the resignation letter she wrote for Kate. She cursed herself for not telling Kate it was actually a letter addressed to tell her she was her sister and all the wrongs she has done. Since she couldn’t face her wrath.

Now she believes she did the right thing for not telling Kate who she actually was, because her anger earlier she could barely stand.

She got out of her car and walked into the hospital she was supposedly birthed at.

‘Nurse, I’m Stacy! I think we spoke earlier about a child born here 25 years ago.’

‘Yes, hold now.’ The nurse put a call through briefly and hanged up. ‘The Doctor will see you now Stacy.’

She nodded and walked in looking over her shoulder, because she recognizes the environment she has found herself in again.

‘I’m Doctor Sly.’

‘Okay! Stacy here please. I called earlier about my birth parents and I was asked to come in today.’

‘Yes, I checked up with the information you gave out but I only found out of two kids who were born here with the date you mentioned but different years.’

‘So nothing at all?’ Stacy was still hoping for good news.

‘I’m sorry we couldn’t be of much help.’ The Doctor said standing up on the call he received to see his next patient.

Stacy rushed out knowing she has hit another wall, her only hope now was Mummy Jane who she would have to do her dirty works for before she could help her. Then her phone rang at that instance.

‘Talk of the devil.’ Stacy hissed and picked up the call. ‘Hello Mom, I was just about to call you.’ Stacy told Jane.

‘Save it Stacy, what were you doing meeting up with Kate, when I warned you not to.’

Stacy gasped faintly. ‘Ooops.’

‘Oh you think I wouldn’t know, don’t try that with me again.’ Jane said and hanged up.

Stacy’s tears began to flow as she looked around to find out if her mom was watching her.

‘Kate I can explain.’ Nectar said and at the verge of shying away since he had no idea what his wife had in mind for him. His conscience kept pricking him and his chest warming up to his stomach. He was lost in Kate’s thoughts.

Without a word she took off her over-sized gown, since her husband was already unclad she wrapped her hands around his waist now expecting his rejection but Nectar on the other hand was in closed eyes for no reason.

Nectar slowly opened his eyes after minutes of enjoying his wife’s touch and stunned at his wife’s excited face at the same time. She pulled him closer to her body taking him by surprise since he was in deep thoughts earlier.

Nectar decided to enjoy the moment while it lasts.

He found his way to the right places on her body which Kate succumbed and responded quickly to. Her eyes were wide open in shock and ecstasy, as to how much she has been missing.

Kate was driving him nuts already and he only kept thinking of how much more his pregnant wife can take.

As if Kate knew what turns him on, she gave him all the pleasures he had be expecting.

“She sure had a way of driving men crazy. No wonder Matts said she’s not a one minute lady.” Nectar smiled in his thoughts.

A moan escaped Kate’s lips and she clenched her teeth to his lips.

He felt himself coming close but had to make this work as Kate seems to be far away in her thoughts obviously having a good time.

How he missed this moment with pearl. The memories quickly flashed his mind and he dismissed it.

He was close to his orgasm but looking at Kate who was on the point of tears he felt guilty and just had to ask if she was okay.

‘Nectar be gentle.’ She said faintly.

They both cried in joy finally which was all he needed to take his mind off things. She drooled slowly on the bathroom floor, relaxed for a while with her head against the bathroom wall.

As she stood up she whispered in his ears, I wished this moment would last forever. Kate then showered herself quickly and walked out while Nectar looked on speechless.

‘Kate what was that all about earlier!’ Nectar asked after spending lots of minutes back in the shower.

‘What are you talking about Nectar.’

‘The washroom lov…..’

Kate cut him off. ‘So it’s now a crime to make love to my husband!’ Kate retorted.

‘I didn’t say that Kate.’

‘Maybe you should tell me why you stayed back in the shower. Were you scrubbing yourself off my sweat so you could run back to pearl as if nothing happened?’

Nectar just melted while still standing.

‘Kate i’m sorry and obviously, this time was different for both of us but what I meant was you haven’t said a word about your encounter with Pearl and it’s killing me already.’ He said walking closer.

‘What about pearl? Should our conversations now revolve around her? Can’t we just pretend she doesn’t exist at all because the way I see it you obviously have your reasons for whatever you do with her out there?’

‘Nothing is happening out there, trust me.’ He tried to defend his lies.

‘Good because I just want to take charge of my home now, if you will let me do that.’ Kate said trying not to meet his eyes.

Nectar still speechless, just stood in the center of the room with his towel still in his hands. He tried to cover his face with it several times but he was just too heavy to even open his mouth.

‘I know you don’t have anything to say and I don’t think I even want to know but to think your overnights at the hospital could be another brothel in disguise is so irritating.’

‘I hav……’

‘You know what just help me tell that your obsessed mistress to stop sending me messages. I don’t need to know how many times she slept with you or where you had her. If she keeps bugging me with them I might just get a restraining order and you are not escaping it too.’

She didn’t want to let him talk so he kept interrupting him.

Kate just adjusted her pillow and gently dropped her head on it. She closed her eyes, asking herself why she was so calm.

She thought she could have done better than how she handled it. Maybe she could have listened to his own side of the story. But what was the point when he was obviously just going to lie again.

Kate said goodnight when Nectar’s shadow fell on her and she drifted to bed.
