No Room For Love EPISODE 51
‘Yes, don’t give me that look. We never wanted to tell you anything. Mom will kill me if she knew I told you.’ Matts said angrily to Nectar.
‘Which episodes Matilda?’ Nectar asked confused.
‘You are a mess and you are not aware, just like Katie.’ Matts hissed and was walking out when Nectar called her back in a faint tone.
“Matilda is it that bad. Save me the embarrassment and tell me already.” Nectar asked Matts sadly.
‘Saint, talk to your wife.’ Matts rather said instead of telling Nectar what he needed to know.
He examined his sister for a while and shrugged it off. ‘That wouldn’t change my mind,’ Nectar said with much assurance.
‘Nectar i know you are too stubborn to change your mind over an illness. Don’t worry you are not dying now.’ Matilda said sarcastically.
Matts rushed down from the room and listened in on Kate’s conversation. She knew Kate was talking to her mom. She descending gradually in order not to interrupt her.
‘Mom, I will be fine. Don’t worry about me though my life is a shamble right now but I still have my children. You are coming with me this time around.’ Kate managed to make a joke with her Mom over the phone.
Matts stared and realized somehow within her friend was hurting a lot. She might look like, a spoilt brat but the Katie she knew treats men with so much love and dignity. Not what she has reduced herself to. Matts kept thinking but didn’t hesitate to curse Mandy with every word that came to her mind.
She waited for her friend to finish her calls before interrupting her thoughts.
‘Hey, are you, all right?’ Matts asked the obviously broken Kate.
‘Why should I be worried?’ Kate replied!
I’m glad but you know you can talk to me, right?’ Matts replied and sat closer to her. She gave Kate a tight hug, and then Kate broke down.
‘Was it my fault and last i checked love isn’t by force?’
‘I know all that sweetheart.’ Her friend smooched her gently.
‘So why is my own life different?’ Kate lamented amidst tears. Her friend quickly reached out for a hug.
‘No, your life isn’t different my dear. Look at me,’ Matts held up her face disengaging from the hug. ‘You are the best. Just give yourself a chance Katie.’ Matts advised.
‘A chance for what is already gone?’ She asked with a worried tone.
‘I’m sure Nectar knows you don’t love him but he just needs a little respect from you.’
‘What do you mean Matts?’
‘Katie I’m sure you know what I am talking about.’ Matts said giving Kate a smile.
‘What is the point when Nectar has made up his mind already? I will just have to sign this now.’ Kate grabbed the divorce paper beside her.
‘No, you don’t have to Katie,’ Matts said instantly grabbing the document from her hands.
‘What should i do then?’
‘Do you want to stay?’ Matts asked weirdly. Kate nodded her head shyly.
‘Then go in there and talk to Nectar.’
‘And say what exactly Matts.’
‘I trust you know what to say.’ She held her cheeks playfully. ‘Now go, I would just sit on the couch here and wait for you so we celebrate.’
Kate sighed heavily and after about three minutes she saw herself standing up lazily. She looked back at Matts, wiped her tears and sniffed.
‘Matts I’m scared of his reaction.’ Kate said and walked back to the couch.
‘Katie let me take you to him,’ Matts muttered to her friend and dragged her slowly towards Nectars room. Matts finally saw her to the door and left.
Nectar was dressing up, probably about to leave again when he heard the door open but he ignored. Kate stood in one corner of the room and didn’t know where to start from.
She gave a little prayer. “Matts come help me out here”. She was deep in thoughts and then realized Nectar was walking to the door.
‘Ne…C… Tar, can we talk please.’ Nectar stopped in his track, tried to look back but walked on.
‘Ple..ase I don’t wan..t the d..ivorce; neither do I want to leave this ma..rriage.’ Kate said with a lot of struggle, breaking in between with her eyes closed. She thought to herself the difficult part was over and opened her eyes.
She thought she caught his attention. Kate turned her head now gazing at the ceiling. Nectar retracted his steps back. There was silence suddenly, Kate sighed heavily.
‘I said I don’t want a divorce, say something,’ Kate pleaded with her emotions.
Nectar looked to Kate’s direction. ‘And I want a divorce so; you had better sign that paper before I get back.’ He said avoiding her gaze, which betrayed how he actually felt.
Kate saw him from the corner of her left eye walking away again. She knew she had to say something before she loses every chance she had to give her marriage a second chance.
“The twins are yours.” Kate said before she came to her senses.
Nectar turned his back instantly.
‘What did you say?’ Nectar said almost having a nervous breakdown.
‘I said the only thing keeping me here are your children.’ Kate reframed her sentence bodly but barely able to breathe.
‘I know they are mine and i love them as if they are my blood, unlike your Dad.’ Nectar said assuming that was what Kate was referring to.

EPISODE 52
Kate pretended as if Nectar just didn’t insult her paternity, but she was so much angry with herself for waiting this long to open up about her feelings rather than retaliating at that very moment.
‘I meant that night at the bar I wasn’t safe,’ Kate starts to talk again hoping Nectar would just hug her already, to save her the rest of the memory. ‘So, these twins were the result but I guess you always knew they were yours.’
Kate finally said softly pointing down to her belly.
She finally raised her head to where she directed it earlier avoiding her husband’s reaction, when she managed to move away from his hand, which was almost flying to her face.
Kate had a surprise grimace on and shook her head.
‘You were about to slap me,’ Kate said with a frown while Nectars hand kept hanging in the air, whiles he made several attempts to hit her again and she kept tossing him around.
After a few minutes he realized what he was just about to do so he melted at one point and managed to walk to the bed with his hands covering his face.
‘How do I know you are telling me the truth considering you kept it from me in the first place?’ Nectar spoke up for what looks like ages.
‘You are a smart doctor; you should know by now.’ Kate tried to be smart.
‘Don’t bring my profession into this.’ He snarled. ‘Gosh I can’t believe you made me call my own children unworthy names.’
From the way he was reacting a meter away from her reach, no one has to tell Kate he was very angry.
‘So now what?’ She still managed to ask bravely.
‘This revelation doesn’t change anything.’ Nectar sternly said and stood up, walked to the door and asked her to see herself out before he gets back.
Kate managed to get hold of the couch and slumped herself into it.
‘What have I done to myself,’ Kate lamented in tears. Then reassured herself, she will be fine.
*************
‘Where do you think you are off to in a hurry? What did you do to Katie?’ Matts asked her brother on his way out.
‘How that concerns you is not my problem,’ Nectar said rather rudely
‘Saint?’ She called with a high-pitched tone.
‘You knew too right,’ he tried to walk away but paused.
‘What are you talking about Nectar?’ Matts asked facing his brother now.
‘The twins are mine and you of all people kept it from me.’
‘What does that have to do with anything?’ Matts said blinking her eyes in between, which Nectar knows she normally does when she is guilty.
‘So you chose a total stranger over me right. Thank you very much.’ Nectar retorted.
‘Saint I don’t get why you are angry and it wasn’t my place to tell you anything besides she wanted to the last time she called you from work.’
‘What stopped her then?’
‘You know what happened afterwards. There is no favoritism here and I know my friend was wrong with all of her decisions lately but she wants you this time.’
Nectar stared at her for a while.
‘She has hurt me Matt’s.’
‘I know and you might have looked past her attitude for the past few months but she is a good person. Just don’t throw that to the wind, think about it.’ She murmured carefully to her brother.
Nectar glared at her now.
‘You should also leave my house before I come back.’ He said without regrets, though he was aware he needed Matts now more than ever.
‘You think you can take care of yourself right. Don’t worry I would leave.’ Matts said sensibly and left him to walk out before she rushed upstairs.
*****
‘Where do you also think you are packing to by this time of the night?’ Matts asked no other person than Katie.
‘You heard your brother he said I should leave. Anthon and James will be picking me up soon.’ Kate said without tears.
‘Do you always have to leave when things become so messy? You always have to give up easily.’
‘What was i supposed to do Matt’s?’
‘You of all people should understand Nectar. You were wrong so many times Katie, but stay and apologize.’ Matts stopped talking after tapping Kate on the shoulder to pay attention to her.
‘And what happens after apology.’
‘I don’t know but just give it a try.’
“Men want whom they want.”
‘What does that even mean Katie?’
‘If your brother doesn’t want me right now, should I keep living in his house?’
‘Try and understand Nectar. He’s really hurt Katie.’
‘I know I was wrong and ignored his goodness so many times so now allow me pay for it.’
‘So, you don’t want to give yourself another chance?’
‘I want to but I think nobody understands what I feel. I hated myself for the marriage already and i don’t want to end up hating him.’ Kate said this time with tears forming in her eyes.
‘Katie, I promise to fix this with you.’ Her friend said when she run out of options.
‘Matts it’s too late. There is someone definitely out there for me.’
‘Someone you mean Drake or Mandy.’ She asked angrily.
‘Think whatever you want to now Matts.’ Kate responded blankly, while Matts tried reading her expression earlier when she raised the Mandy and Drake issue.
‘I don’t know what to say again.’ Matt’s finally gave up and Kate knew better to continue dragging the issue at hand.
‘Can I go now Matts? Will let you know when the movers will come for the rest of my stuff.’ Kate said trying to hide her sadness.
‘Okay you have made your points, let me drive you to wherever you are going.’ Matts finally said obviously going to miss her friend.
‘Good! I would give you the address on our way.’ Kate whispered. She quickly texted Anthon to hold on since she will be coming with Matts.
The drive to Anthon’s place was very silent until they pulled up at his apartment. Then their gazes met.
‘Anthon what is he doing here.’ Kate asked after sighting Drake leaning against a wall.
‘Come in first Kate but Drake was here when you called.’ He decided to wait behind. Anthon explained.
‘Tell him to stay in his lane.’ She ranted.
‘Okay, got it.’ Anthon replied and Drake shook his head regrettably.
‘Matts are you helping me with my luggage or you want to finish staring lustfully at Drake first.’ She quickly took off her gaze from Drakes direction and reached out to help Kate inside.
‘Yeah sure.’ Matt’s replied instantly.
‘You have to go home, I’m safe.’ Kate said intentionally to drive Matts away to avoid her tearing up again when they got inside.
Matts sighed and agreed to leave but she pulled Anthon closer and told him something before she left.
Drake also left a few hours later after the silence between them was getting weird. Kate cared less about that as he was the least of her worries at that time.
********
After a few more days, Kate remembered her antenatal was at the same hospital where Nectar works and she might bump into him. She contemplated on going that morning but it wasn’t possible to get another doctor for a Sunday consultation.
She set off and prayed not to meet Nectar during her antenatal.
Luckily there was no sign of him where she sat waiting for her doctor but even with that she was still worried about him and wasn’t paying attention throughout her session when she got into the doctor’s office.
‘Who are you hoping to see Kate?’ The doctor asked when he caught her looking around like a thief in the night.
‘What? No one.’ She replied but the doctor still insisted.
‘Your husband?’ Doctor Sylvester muttered bluntly.
‘No, just my hormones kicking in. I get confused these days.’ She lied.
‘That’s alright. It’s normal.’
Kate knew the doctor didn’t believe her so she made him rush the session and she quickly rushed out as his next topic of discussion was making her worried.
“Kate just call him already,” She told herself immediately she came out of Sylvester’s office while walking pass Nectars office towards the entrance.
She was still thinking about why Doctor Sylvester had to tell her Nectar hasn’t been to work for these few days she had been away.
“Was he giving me that gist so I call him?” She thought loudly and brought out her phone several times. She dials Nectars number but couldn’t bring herself up to the task.
Headed to her car she felt someone was moving towards her but Kate just ignored since it’s a hospital and a lot of people walk in and out.
“Gosh Mandy you scared me.” Mandy’s shadow falling on her while she tried to open her car doors startled Kate. “Are you stalking me now,” she ranted and tried to avoid his touch.
‘I want you.” He murmured slowly.
‘Leave before I shout for help.’
‘I can’t leave you my dear.’ Mandela teased.
It was obvious Kate wasn’t comfortable. ‘What do you want again? I have your story and hatever it was, you did in the past leave me out of it. I don’t want you complicating my already messed up life.’
Mandela laughed so loud and when he realized she wasn’t smiling he covered his mouth with his hands. After a few seconds of stares, he smiled while Kate’s head was down.
‘I heard you left your husband.’ Mandy said with no emotions in his voice.
Kate then looked up and their faces met.
‘Who fed you with that information?’ Kate ranted again this time, walking away from him a little bit to avoid any emotions springing up.
‘I told you someone is out there trying to destroy you. I got an email telling me this is the opportunity for me to destroy your life as we initially agreed on.’ Mandy narrated catching Kate’s attention now.
‘We agreed on. You and who?’ She found herself asking.
‘I think you need to sit down for this.’ He said!
‘No, we are not sitting down for anything.’ Kate quickly replied to Mandy’s request before she changes her mind.
‘Kate stop being stubborn.’
‘You know what, call Matts with all the details; I believe you still have her number. And she is still single, you can have her now.’ Kate said annoyingly to Mandy.
“Kate,” he yelled, stopping her from entering her car.
Kate turned around avoiding his gaze, then he said he loves her and will do anything to find out whom the perpetrator is.
‘Who cares?’ Kate threw back at him.
‘Really?’ He retorted.
‘Look Bradley or whatever your name is, I don’t love you anymore so get that into your thick head.’ Kate said trying to believe her own words that time. Maybe she never did, but the attraction overshadowed her eyes. Kate thought for a while and forged ahead to her car.
She was about to open the doors to her car again when he held her by the shoulders to face him. Then she realized he was crying. Kate tried not to look.
He raised up her face by holding her jaw up. ‘Look at me babes; I hope you know I can’t let you go? I love you so please give me another chance now that you are free.’ Mandy said softly.
‘Even if I’m so much addicted to you, I can’t go back to you.’ She said silently to Mandy trying to free herself from the circle they found themselves in that moment.
‘I know you want me.’
‘Don’t flatter yourself because you’ve hurt me enough and allow me start elsewhere. I was at peace in my marriage until you came back to destroy everything.’ Kate said still struggling with her mind.
‘But you don’t love your husband; he can’t make you feel what you are feeling now. I know you want me to have you right here but can we go somewhere and talk first. Then I will give you all the sex you need.’
‘You are delusional and ohh at least Nectar was man enough to marry me.’ She retorted.
He ignored her statement.
‘I can see you are starved and in the mood for a quick one.’ Mandy kept talking while Kate was thinking out of the box.
‘And I’m the only one who knows how you want it? I bet that husband of yours can last for thirty minutes with you. ‘Mandy said with a selfish grin on his face.
All his dirty talks were turning her on and she kept staring. Kate kept swallowing her saliva.
“He is right he makes me feel what Nectar or any man has yet to make me feel.” She thought for a brief moment and shrugged it off.
‘What are you thinking right now sweetheart.’ Mandela asked when he realized Kate was lost in her own thoughts.
“I can’t continue this with him. He has expired.” Kate said in her head again ignoring him. Little did he know that statement about how long he can last with her gave her the clarity she needed to be free. “He only acknowledges me when he needs my body. That’s the reality.” Kate snapped.
There and then she made up her mind to push him away, but he held on too tight. ‘Mandy let me go, you are hurting me.’ In his arms, she was weak again.
‘Please let me go, don’t try anything funny. I will hate you for the rest of my life if you do. Now let me go.’ Kate didn’t know she was yelling, in the car park.
Then as if some miracle happened, she saw him rolling on the floor. Kate looked to her right and saw Nectar, staring at his hurt arm.
‘What is he doing here? Why did he do that? How long has he been here? He saw everything, OMG.’ Kate kept asking herself quietly while she stares at both Nectar and Mandy giving each other fierce looks.
‘Dude calm down, I was just having a talk with your wife. Who by the way isn’t yours anymore?’ Mandy tried to tease. Kate saw the look of violence on Nectars face and thought of fleeing.
‘Ohh I’m glad you mentioned the husband part. So you know who I am.’
‘Of course, the contract husband.’ Mandy teased and Nectar ignored.
‘What sort of man treats a woman that way? Did you not hear her pleas to let go?’ Nectar kept ranting and turned to Mandy.
Kate just did the impossible again. She entered her car and drove off leaving the two men to sort themselves out.
*****
‘Mom.’ Nectar threw himself on his mom when he got to her house that afternoon.
‘Hey, are you crying?’
‘I love her mom.’
‘Okay, I assume this is about Kate.’
He nodded. His mom sighed and led him to have a seat in the dinning. After getting him some cold water, Nectar finally calmed down.
‘What do I do now?’
‘I can’t tell you what to do when you haven’t told me why you are crying.’
‘Oh, come off it mom. I know Matilda told you everything.’
‘Busted.’ His mom smiled. ‘Cheer up Saint, you are going to be a father.’
‘Yes mom, but she’s gone with my kids.’
‘No, you asked her to leave.’
‘I know I did but it was out of anger.’
‘I understand you but a lady like Kate needs a lot of patience.’
‘But I’ve been patience enough.’
‘No, you were invading her privacy when you knew pregnancy changes a lot about women.’
‘Okay maybe I did but how else do i get to know my wife if i don’t invade her privacy.’
‘That’s not even the problem Saint.’
‘What was it then?’
‘You refused to grow up after your last marriage and that has affected your decisions in the new one.’
Nectar frowned for a while. ‘You think so?’
‘Uhmmm, just call her to come home. Ask her what she wants and you both decide on the next phase since kids are involved now.’
‘Mom, I know Kate would hurt me again.’
‘That’s okay. You are a Glover and can handle anything.’ His mom announced with a gesture that was funny.
‘Haa mom. You sound like Keisha right now.’ Nectar found himself laughing.
‘I’m glad you are laughing.’ They both laughed again and Nectar requested for a juice while waiting for her mom to get back to her seat.
‘That reminds me, where’s that snitch of a sister.’ He asked rubbing his jaw.
‘You sent her packing so i guess she’s either sleeping around or at her place.’
‘Mom you know she sleeps around?’
She laughed. ‘Of course, son but it’s her life and I don’t want to end up as her enemy for the second time.’
Nectar saw the pain in her laughter earlier. ‘I would let Kate talk to her.’
‘Thank you.’
‘Don’t thank me mom, I know it breaks your heart to see her that way especially when she stopped talking to you for her entire teenage life because you interfered.’
‘Just do something about it for me.’ Mrs. Glover said sadly handing him the juice.
‘That reminds me, I met Kate today with her ex and it seemed like she didn’t want him anymore.’
‘That’s good news son because from what I heard she’s addicted to him.’
‘Yes, and I even stopped him from forcing himself on her this morning at the hospital.’ Nectar said lively with a gasp. He realized he got the answers he needed to work on his marriage.
‘I now get why you came here crying but does this mean you know what to do now?’
‘Yeah, I know exactly what to do now mom.’ He smiled and brought out his phone. Nectar excused himself from the table and called Matts.
He apologized and they talked for a while before he hanged up and called her mother in law too.
Nectar couldn’t spend much time with his mom because he needed to be home early.

EPISODE 53
She got home and was relieved about taking the right decision to not let Mandy back into her life. She had admitted there was something new about how she felt about Nectar but she blamed it on her hormones again.
Anthon couldn’t stop laughing at what went on earlier neither did Matts.
Drake hardly talks when he comes around and Kate was thinking about his silence and then still laughing with Anthon when the doorbell rang.
She rushed to open the door to the outburst of her mom.
‘What is she doing here? How did she know where I went?’ Kate kept murmuring.
‘I can hear you Kate so pack your things young woman. How could you be running around town with those innocent children?’ Catherine asked angrily while Kate smiled staring at her yet to protrude belly. Though it got a little bump that Kate rubs everyday her mom on the other hand made it seemed like she had a bigger bump.
‘But mo…..’ She was cut off immediately.
‘Do you think that was how I treated my marriage? If I had, would you have gotten a stable life?’
‘Mom, i had no other option.’
‘Really? Kate you don’t leave your marital home when things get tough. Do you know what I have to endure for your sake? I endured all the hitting’s, and insults for you.’ Catherine said managing a breath.
‘That was those days.’ She muttered and Catherine had made up her mind not to mind her.
‘Get up let’s go, Catherine said pulling Kate’s ear so hard that she couldn’t help but struggle to get free from her mom’s punishment.
‘Mom it hurts, Please I’m pregnant, don’t forget that.’ Kate said yelling at her Mom who hasn’t let go of pulling her ears, but then had to release her when Kate kept whining about the babies’ health. Anthon and James, stood far behind laughing.
‘Now let’s go,’ Catherine said again.
‘Mom i’m going nowhere. You see that is the difference between you and I. You chose the abusive part. You decided to stay when you had all the chance to leave.’
‘What is that supposed to mean?’
‘You don’t expect me to stay when he doesn’t want me to. You always don’t have to keep fighting for things that are bound not to work out. You leave where there is no peace.’
‘Are we still talking about your husband here?’ Catherine asked confused.
‘Yes, by the look of things, Nectar has made up his mind. I don’t know what the deal is with you and Dad but it’s okay if you leave him. And I’m all grown up now?’ Kate said with lots of emotions.
‘Grown up?’ Her mom whispered staring at her.
‘Ahuh, after all, you didn’t give birth to me, so why hold on to someone not related to you unless there is something else you are not telling me.’ Kate told her mom expecting an answer.
‘Kate, I still insist that you pack your things up. If you don’t want to go back to Nectars, you can come back home.’ Catherine said ignoring her daughter’s curiosity.
‘For what, so Dad would keep treating me like crap while holding you as a leverage.’ She hissed. ‘I will stay put here.’ Kate said stubbornly.
‘How did you become this stubborn all of a sudden?’ Catherine said sarcastically.
“Mom tell me if my stubbornness is not from my late mom. Granny said so.” Kate joked. She smiled and relaxed while Kate led her to have a seat. “Mom I love you but I can’t do what you are asking me.”
Her mom glanced at her for a while. ‘What if Nectar asks you to come back, will you?’ Catherine finally asked dropping a hint.
‘I will cross that bridge when I get there.’ Kate smiled.
‘Hmmm.’ Catherine sighed heavily.
‘Mom don’t worry, I’m fine here and I’m getting my own place soon.’ Kate emphasized.
‘But you have a home with Nectar and I’m sure if you apologize he would take you back.’
‘Mom don’t sweat it and besides Nectar is too hurt to ask me to come back because he knows everything was my fault.’
‘And he loves you enough to forgive the past.’ Catherine rubbed in.
‘If I go back, I would just hurt him more because i can’t see myself loving him yet but I wished I had just kept my head down and enjoy him treat me like a queen, though he behaves childishly sometimes which irritates me.’ She paused releasing her hands on her jaw. ‘Well that’s all over now mom, I’m moving on.’ Kate finally admitted smiling.
‘Childish but I believe deep down you were okay he doesn’t give you any pressure.’ Catherine chipped in.
“Yes, I always thought I was lucky, but I couldn’t loosen up to him.” Kate confirmed.
Alright, I won’t force you to do anything against your heart desires but I have to get going now. Your Dad is coming home tonight.’
‘And?’ Kate questioned.
‘You know how he is like when I’m not at home to attend to his needs.’ Catherine said just in time to meet Kate’s angry gaze.
‘What needs are those. It’s not as if you even sleep with him, so what extra needs does he have.’ Kate asked expecting an answer.
‘See me off because you are not getting anything from me this time.’ Catherine said and they both managed a laugh.
*****
‘Have you found out who she is yet,’ Wilson asked his guest, who he has paid to find out the whereabouts of his illegitimate daughter.
‘No.’ The middle-aged man with his oversized coat and trousers sitting on the other side of the table with Kate’s Dad said with sweats rushing down his face.
“You mean you can’t find one tiny human being.” Wilson snapped.
‘Sir Wilson, i have combed the whole of Georgetown but to no avail and the mail sent to you hasn’t given much details besides, it’s out-of-date.’
‘What do we do now?’ Wilson asked with his eyes red.
‘We need something current to work with. If possible an image.’ Wilson’s private investigator said confused.
‘But I gave you the names of my concubines, that way you can find out whose child I fathered.’ Wilson said looking more furious now.
‘It’s a long list Sir.’
‘You squeeze all this money out of me and you haven’t even given me one good news yet, not to even talk of getting a new attire to look a little professional.’ Wilson accused.
‘Look sir, I think I want to quit because I’ve been chasing one ghost for eleven good years but to no avail. And I think I’ve done my best here so give me credit for that.’
‘What results exactly have you provided?’
‘At least now you know whoever you are looking for is in Georgetown per the mail you received on the attack on Kate and her friend.’ The bulgy man said with his sweats almost vanishing from his face.
Wilson nearly lost it. ‘Whatever you call yourself, send me the details of your outcome so far and I will hire someone good enough to trace down the whereabouts of my other daughter before she kills her sister.’
He stormed out of there leaving the investigator speechless.
*****
When he got home, he went straight ahead to his room and met Catherine waiting patiently with her hands over head.
‘What did you find out Wilson!’ Catherine instantly asked her husband when he got in but he ignored her.
‘Wilson I’m asking you a question here.’ Catherine was hyper and sweating profusely. ‘That’s my daughter and you know that, so I have the right to know who is after her life.’ Catherine said and paused expecting Wilson to say something.
Wilson just pushed her aside while she struggled to get hold of her bedstead.
‘Wilson you and your illegitimate daughter won’t kill me or Kate. You better tell me who she is or I tell Kate everything.’
He sighed with bloodshot eyes.
“Are you threatening me now,” Wilson spoke for the first time since he got back.
“Yes, I am, considering the fact that you have refused to do anything about your relationship with Kate and now about to allow her half-sister ruin her life.”
‘What exactly can you do Catherine.’
‘If anything happens to my daughter again, I would kill you and your other daughter. Take that from me as a warning.” Catherine was so furious now, not minding she was talking to her husband, the man she feared most.
Wilson realized she wasn’t the calm wife he knew anymore. He stared for a while and sighed.
‘Look, you think I go out just to sit somewhere, every time I receive that threat in my mail?’ He said calmly. ‘Kate I may not have accepted as my own yet, but that doesn’t make me heartless.’
‘Then do something about this threat.’ Catherine was almost near tears but pushed it back.
‘I’m doing my best to protect that manner less daughter of yours, so don’t provoke me.’ Wilson said angrily.
‘And you think it’s my fault that you hate your own blood? Or probably I brought her up alone.’ Catherine suddenly laughed even though she wasn’t in the mood for jokes. ‘Oh wait, if you were around to teach her some manners she wouldn’t turn out as what she is now.’
She hissed loudly eyeing him angrily.
‘Mind the way you talk to me Catherine.’
She got furious with him talking back and wanted him to know she found out about his other deals.
‘And to think you only sleep with those night workers just to piss me off, you actually own them.’ Catherine revealed.
Wilson’s eyes went from bloodshot to blank.
‘Get out of my way now before I lose it and you know what would happen when I do.’ Wilson said fiercely. Catherine quickly loosened up and gave him way.
That was the part of her husband she fears most.
******
‘What happened?’ Andy asked fiercely looking at the lady in white who came to him some weeks ago with a deal.
“I believe you know one Kate Santa.”
“Yes,” Andy replied.
“Okay good, I have a score to settle with her.”
“Let’s work together then.” Andy laughed.
Andy tried to remember the lady who with some weird reasons she has refused to disclose why she wants to kill a harmless Kate. He was not in support then, but he needs the money and had to look sharp.
“Andy, are you with me!” She prompted.
‘Yes, I am with you,’ Andy replied. ‘So, what’s the next step now.’ Andy further asked thinking of how to swindle the lady.
‘Let’s talk indoors then,’ the lady with Andy smiled rather sheepishly.
*****
Kate was contemplating to get dinner cooked or eat out when her phone rang. She stared at the call for a while before answering. She kept quiet on the call until the caller spoke up.
“Can we talk Kate?”
Kate couldn’t believe she was even answering his call in the first place.
“Are you there Kate, yes am here. I said could we talk.”
She grinned and sighed. “We are already talking Nectar. Just say whatever you want to and get off my line.” Kate said pretending not to be glad he called.
‘Look woman, you better give me some sort of respect.” Nectar yelled.
‘Huh.’ Kate didn’t know where his manly attitude suddenly popped out from.
‘Yes, and don’t forget you are carrying my babies so don’t take my silent this time as my weakness, I can be rough if I want to but you happen to be someone who has gone through enough already hence I gave you some freedom.’
He said with some manly tone again that calmed her. Kate coughed at that moment.
‘Now answer me, can we talk. Don’t bother,’ he changed his mind. ‘I don’t need your permission this time. We are doing it my way now. Come to the house this evening, Matts would be picking you up.’ Nectar ordered.
As if she was waiting for him to ask her back, she smiled like a ten-year-old who just got a new doll.
“I can come myself, no need worrying Matts.” Kate said rather silently.
‘Did I hear you say something now?’ Nectar asked pretending not to have heard Kate’s answer but asked rather assuming.
‘No, I just coughed.’ Kate said amidst a smile.
‘Good. I would be waiting patiently.’ Nectar said bossily.
A smile appeared across Kate’s face and she hanged up happily after saying goodbye.
Anthon and James were so sad to see her leave. Drake on the other hand avoided her throughout her stay.
After about five hours, evening finally came as Kate was jittery and kept watching her time.
She looked back while trying to fix her seat belt and her eyes fell on her bag at the back seat. ‘Matts, what sort of game are you both playing with me?’
‘What is it Katie?’ Matts asked!
‘My bags are following me.’ Kate said as if she’s not happy to be going back home.
‘Yes, they are!’ Matts exclaimed trying not to sound sarcastic.
“Why? I remember I was to come alone not with my bags.” Kate said sternly.
‘Well something else contrary to that, Nectar asked me to do.’ Matts replied. ‘Besides, if you are to come alone, why is this big thing in front of you following you?’ Matts said again smiling.
“Matts respect my babies.”
“I am Katie but you are reacting for no reason.” She said.
‘You think so?’ Kate muttered annoyingly.
‘Of course, but just hear what he had to say, if you don’t like it, you could leave with your bags but please do me a favor, if he asks of you to stay, Katie do so.’ Matts was pleading now with her whole strength.
“Why?” Kate asked.
‘Please you will figure that out later and I contacted Mandy as you asked. I’m also looking into the emails for you.’ Matt’s figured she needed to know so she could make the best decision when they get home.
‘So, was he telling the truth?’ Kate couldn’t stop feigning inquisitiveness.
‘Yes, it looks like it.’ Then there is something else.’
‘Something else like?’
‘You have to talk to your mom. She was also involved with the Prison officer.’ Matts said blankly.
“Huh!” Kate was surprised.
‘Yes, but for now, sort this thing out with your husband first.’ Matts advised.
Kate couldn’t say another word after knowing her mom must have been involved in whatever happened in the past. They drove in silent and got home quite late. Kate hesitated for a while before going up to meet Nectar.

Nectar had his hands in his pocket staring through the window. She sensed Kate’s presence closer to him but couldn’t turn around. Kate fidgeted with her own hands for a while and kept scratching her belly.
He finally turned around and glanced at her for a long while.
‘Are you just going to be staring at me? Should I go back to where I came from?’ Kate found herself asking Nectar standing in the middle of her matrimonial room once again. The room hasn’t changed that much, she thought.
As if her statement hit some nerves he flared up. ‘You dare not walk out of here with my children.’
‘Then what?’ Kate asked with so much confusion registered on her face and she was tired of standing too.
‘Just be ready to stay for the children as you said a week ago. If you still want to leave after giving birth you can but not with my twins.’ Nectar said with so much heaviness in his heart.
‘What do you mean by that? This is not Ghana but George Town and I’m sure the judges would not hesitate to give me custody of my kids when I tell them about your episodes.’ Kate snapped with a motherly instinct.
‘I’m sorry Kate, it came out the wrong way.’ Nectar was embarrassed, Kate knew about his seizures. ‘Am I asking you for too much here because I just want to be able to wake up beside you and my kids jumping about.’ Nectar found himself pleading instead of Kate doing all the apologizing.
“Leave me the hell alone.” Kate nearly said out aloud but kept it to her mind.
‘You know I never wanted any of this, so kindly don’t push yourself on me.’ She said calmly.
‘Emmmm….’ Nectar couldn’t find his words.
‘That is all I ask of you.’ She continued without giving him the chance to speak. ‘For my life, it’s never going to recover but I’m here now so don’t give me any unnecessary pressure because I’m already handling two. Then again, I’m sorry for being the stubborn wife.’
‘You are?’ Nectar had goose bumps on his skin. Kate saying, she was sorry was a big step for them both.
‘Yeah and I imagine that was though on you and I’m not about to ask you to forgive me.’ Kate finally sighed.
‘Is that all?’ He finally found his voice.
She nodded. ‘Ehuh!’
‘I think I can manage that but you should also know I’m a man with emotions and feelings. I should be yelling or probably beating you up now, but that’s not the way to win your love.’
‘What’s holding you back?’ She was curious.
‘I figured you just had a hard time opening up to men since you were raised by a woman but give me a chance let me be that father or man you never had. Will you?’ Nectar narrated waiting for an answer, but when he wasn’t getting any he did what he always wanted to do.
Kate was wondering what he was talking about, then she felt his hand raising her head up. For a moment, she wanted to resist but Nectar’s other hand was busy caressing her hair.
She watched his hands go in circular motions and was fighting the urge to stand on her two feet’s.
“What do I have to lose anyway? Let me allow myself to swim in his arms.” She couldn’t speak out loud but her mind was bulky.
Kate thought after all they were married and she must as well enjoy the sex and pretend there were no feelings attached since that seems not to be possible with the heavy burden on her heart and her lust for another man.
Nectar slowly dragged her towards his bed. ‘What are you thinking now?’
She squirmed and glanced at the bed. ‘Emmm nothing!’
‘Are you sure? Should I stop,’ Nectar asked Kate who was staring shyly into his eyes.
Yes, stop.’ She said faintly but Nectar knew she really didn’t mean it so he continued his seduction which happened to be working for him perfectly.
‘Can I at least kiss you? Please!’ He raised her jaw towards him and searching her eyes for approval.
Kate didn’t even know when she closed her eyes and gave Nectar permission to proceed.
