TRUE LIFE STORY OF MY LATE NEIGHBOUR – Mercy Treasure
Mama Chekube became my neighbor when she rented a room self-contained in my compound because her clothes shop was closer to my compound than her former residence
She moved in with Chekube her son whom she hated so much and always blamed for her misfortunes in life because his father deceitfully got her pregnant and ran away when she was younger
Men kept coming and going out of her life until a very wealthy but ugly Mr Sam came along
He loved her so much and always gave her lots of money to support herself and business plus he always dashed me and other neighbours money anytime he comes to visit her.
Although she loved his money and how he was taking care of her and Chekube but she hated the fact that he was so black and ugly
One day, Mr Sam came around as usual and proposed to her but she stylishly asked him to give her some time to think about it
Then she came to me and said
“Mercy Treasure, Mr Sam asked me to marry him but I cannot accept because I am not so beautiful and he is very ugly too……
How will our children look like if I marry such man?
I am just with him for his money and because other men are not coming”
I just responded
“Aunty follow your mind but Mr Sam is a very good man that will take care of you forever”
She replied harshly
“leave that thing Mercy,
you are still too small to understand all this things………
I love handsome, tall and educated men so that when we start having children, they will be fine and intelligent like their father
And not ugly like me and Chekube
Because I am not beautiful and I no go school reach JSS 3 before Chekube’s ugly father deceived and got me pregnant which ended my educational career”
She left immediately after saying that
Weeks later, she came home looking very excited….
Then I asked why she was so happy?
She replied me saying👇
“If you see the kind handsome Yoruba man that came to my shop today eh, he said his name is Ayomide a graduate from the department of civil engineering university of Ibadan… He is the only son of his parent so they have been disturbing him to get married since
but he didn’t find the right woman until when he saw me in my shop two weeks ago, he asked questions about me and has been observing me from a distance since then
So today he came to me and said he is in love with an industrious woman like me and will like us to get married but we can study each other for as long as I want without sex until we are married I told him about Chekube my son and he accepted to take him as his son too Mercy he is exactly my dream man and I am already in love with him so I will accept to study him for a while before marriage💃💃💃” I just muttered hmmm aunty take things easy o They started courting without sexual attachments for three months before he started pestering her for marriage…
She complained to me that he didn’t have money at all as he was just a part time secondary school teacher but his parents and female siblings were ready to sponsor the marriage
Since she was already madly in love, she agreed to marry him so they will be visiting his family by weekend and hers the weekend after.
She then deceitfully collected a lot of money from Mr Sam and then started finding faults without taking his calls for three days then when he came over to find out what was going on,
she insulted and broke up with him
The weekends came and they both introduced each other to their various families and fixed days for introduction and other events
She became very proud, telling everyone how lucky she is to get the best and most handsome man on earth when beautiful educated girls are roaming the streets without husbands 💃
In less than 5 months, her marriage was concluded and she was fully married to Mr Ayomide her Trophy husband who only knew how to look good while she did all the hustle😭
After the wedding and everything, they stayed together in our compound for three months before renting two bedroom flat that someone parked out in the next compound
Then she gave birth to 2 cute children in 3 years that looked totally like their father which made her very happy
One day she went to shop as usual when one aboki man that came to buy palm oil from cross river went to buy chilled pure water from her shop
So when the aboki discovered that she could speak housa fluently, they started communicating in the dialect until it got to the extent that the aboki told her how expensive palm oil is in the North and how profitable it is to buy cheap from cross river and sell double the amount there
And also how tomatoes, onion beans and other items are cheaper there and expensive here.
As a business woman, she quickly indicated interest and begged the aboki to guide her through the business and he accepted so they exchanged numbers
(You all know how sincere and loving housa people can be to their brothers and people that speaks their dialect right?)
She went home and discussed things with her husband and begged for his permission to give the inter state business a try
And the man accepted immediately without hesitation because she was the bread winner of the house
The next day, she called the aboki and begged to join him immediately for the business then he accepted and told her what to
She went to bank and withdrew a lot of money from her account, bought 50 empty gallons of 25 litres and then followed the aboki to mills where they bought and filled oil in all the gallons
Then they boarded and leaded the gallons of oil in trucks that were going to the north
As soon as they arrived north, oil buyers were already on standby
But the aboki took her to some rich alhajis that buys higher and pays instantly
They poured the whole 50 gallons of oil in their drums immediately and returned her rubbers and paid her the money she charged for each without negotiations……
Because oil was really scarce in that area and if they delayed small to negotiate, another buyer might even add something on top the agreed amount and buy.
She was very happy because she bought at 10k per 25 litre in cross river, then resold at 22k each in the north……..
After removing her expenses, she realised over 500k profit from her first business
She shouted👇
“Weeeeeeu na money be this?
So na so e easy to make money but lack of information and connection dey tie people remain for poverty🤔
we die for this business gabadaya, no going back💃💃”
The next day, aboki took her to their bush market where she bought beans, onions, carrots in bags and few baskets of tomatoes and brought to cross river state
Immediately she offloaded her goods in front of her shop, a lot of market women came and bought them all and it didn’t even go round so they collected her number to always keep in touch for more
She returned home a millionaire after two weeks of being on the move, she filled her home with lots of food stuffs,
furnished the house and stayed for 3 days before buying oil and embarking on another business trip
She traveled more and made a lot more money as her business continued to grow bigger everyday until she opened four different shops in the town and employed sales girls in all while her husband was taking care of the children at home and supervising affairs in the shops.
Four Years later, she used her husband’s name to buy one old house that came out for sale in my area and they renovated it and parked.
Everybody in our area began to warn her of the risk involved in traveling too much plus the dangers of leaving her husband at home always to hustle for the family instead of the man being the one to hustle while she takes care of the kids
But she tells them to mind their business as she is not complaining…..
Not minding the fact that she was the bread winner of the family,
she worshipped her husband like a demigod and never ever suspected him of cheating
Even when I asked her what she would do if she finds out that her husband is cheating on her
She said👇
“Mercy Treasure forget that thing,
he can never cheat on me…..
Do you even know all the things I am doing for him?
He respects me too much to cheat jare”
She said all that looking very confident as if she had him wrapped around her fingers
I just quietly watched her over confidence 🙄
We were still gisting in her sitting room when one of her sales girls ran in crying and begging her to help because her landlord threw out her luggages
