I felt guilty seeing them all like this because of me, there where all trying to help, this should have been my cross.

We were back from depositing the money to the orphanage, motherless and disabled and we were sitting inside, every man to his own thoughts.

“Two down three more to go,” Peter said looking up into the space.

Guilt washed all over me, “guys am sorry you guys are in this mess, it’s all my fault, I shouldn’t have involved you guys in my problems,” I said.

“Guy forget that thing, I don’t know about you guys but am having fun, the good deeds alone, makes me happy,” Peter said smiling.

“Yh, true, you don’t have to blame yourself for anything, you would have done the same for any of us, or you forgot when you paid our fees and had to lie to your dad and your mom covered up for you and that same your mom that is lying on the sick bed, I can go any length for her,” John said looking at me in the eyes, tears run down my face.

“I don’t regret doing this, you are more than a friend to us, we are family and family stick together,” said Micheal coming to sit beside me, “what you should be worried about is your mother’s health.”

“They assured us that once this is done she will be fine,” I said in tears, I was filled with emotions, God really blessed me with good friends.

At that moment the phone rang, I picked the call putting it on loud speaker.

“Congratulations on the success of your previous mission, the third mission is more risky and difficult but I believe you guys can pull it off,” said the voice from the phone as we all listen attentively, “you will all be traveling to the North to rescue some kidnapped victims,” said the voice on the phone getting us scared, “there are 25 in total, a box will be delivered to you guys now, it contains all the information you will all be needing about the victims and how the kidnappers Operate, their location is unknown, you will all take public transportation, you hotel room is booked, when you all get there and need anything to carry out your mission you know what to do,” he said and immediately ended the call.

There was a knock on the door that startled us all, I stood up went to the door and opened it but there was no body I looked round but no sign of anyone that was when my eyes caught site of the box on the floor, I picked it and took it inside.

I opened it slowly as all eyes were on me.

It was full of filles, pictures of the victim, our buss ticket and location of the hotel.

After we went through everything we lay them aside and went to bed, early next morning we were up and ready to move out, we got to the park as early as 6am but the buss moved 8:32am.

We were sat on different seats but no far from each other, A man was sitting between I and Peter, I was uncomfortable with the way he kept staring at us, he looked like someone on the run.

“Oga, you know us before,” Peter asked him when he won’t stop staring.

“Noooo,” he replied dragging the no.

“So why you cun dy look us like that?” asked Peter.

“Nothing just be say, I wan know who sit down near me, just in case,” he said in am Hausa tongue.

“Are we now suspect?” I asked smelling something fishy.

*No vex,” he said.

Peter looked at me and I could tell we had the same thing in mind.

“Aboki, no fear, we no be bad people, we just wan go greet our rich uncle for North (state with held), make we see if h fit give us money take start business,” Peter said to him smiling, leaving me confused.

I could see him smile in excitement, “for where I dy go?” He asked Peter.

“My uncle dy stay Adukwo ( not real name),” said Peter giving him the street of the hotel we are to lodge.

Peter looked at me and winked and I understood what was going on, John who was close by nodded his head as if following the discussion.

“I go come see am for you, my wife e sabi cook better,” he said smiling.

“You wife go cool for us?” asked Peter.

“Yes, nice food.”

“Ok, me and my brother go come chop,” Peter said and the man smiled.

The rest of the ride was uneventful, we got to the North very early the next morning, locating our hotel wasn’t difficult and we immediately slept off due to the stress of the long journey unaware of the danger that lock around.
