SANTOS Final PART 2 – Patricia Shine Edoze
They both gave me some money for my
transportation and something to sustain myself, I
couldn’t stop thanking them both for all God has
used them to do. I ate and slept that night, my
heart was filled with joy, knowing that the next
day I will see my family again.
I arrived Lagos exactly 4:35 pm, I took a bike to
my house, I noticed the loud music coming from
the compound, as if there was a party going on,
the first person I met at the gate was my younger
brother, he had grown so big, I called out his
name and he couldn’t believe his eyes, he ran
towards and we hugged so tightly.
He took me by the hands as he joyfully dragged
me in, screaming in the air that I was back, at the
same time throwing questions at me. In a twinkle
of an eye I was crowded, my mother was rollingand crying on the floor, they were all glad to see
me, my younger sister kept on shouting double
celebration.
I was amused by the kind of party that was being
held in the compound, and I inquired to know
about what was happening, my elder sister who
was all dressed up in a native attire quickly told
me that she was getting married, and that
tomorrow is the traditional wedding, I jumped in
joy as I lifted her up and twirled.
The rest of the day was indeed a celebration, I
inquired to know who her soon to be husband
was, and she told me that he was one of the big
business tycoons, and that he had just returned
from overseas. I was very happy, I got freshened
up immediately, ate, welcomed so many visitors
and friends who had heard of my return and had
come to pay homage.
Later that night, my mother and Siblings were all
gathered waiting for me to narrate what had
really happened to me, and why I went missing. They even went ahead to bring out a poster of
me, which they had done, the poster declared me
missing and that a reward would be given to
anyone who finds me and bring me back home.
They told me how they had searched for me, and
even used police to arrest some of my friends in
Benin, but all to no avail, cause none of them
knew my ware about, as I only told them that I
will be going out of town for the weekend, and
never returned.
They too had been in search of me, but all efforts
were futile. Months passed and they seemed to
gradually give up on the search, but my mother
said she continued to pray for me, hoping that
one day I will return home, which I did.
I had no choice but to narrate the whole story to
them, I told them about my life as a yahoo boy,
and how I bought this house for them through
the money, I told them how I wanted more money
and then followed my friend to Ijebu-Ode, I told
them how I woke up in Owerri inside the coffin, I
told them about papa Obinna and the man of God
whom God used to reveal all that really happenedto me. They were all surprised and rained insults
on my so called friend, while they prayed and
blessed papa Obinna and the man of God.
The evening was a long one, as people kept
tripping in, and calls kept coming in to confirm
the news that I was back.
I’ve never felt so peaceful that night for a very
long time, morning came so quickly and the
activities for my sister’s wedding preparation
began, I joined in running some errands, with all
the things I saw around, I knew that indeed my
sister was getting married to a really rich man, I
was so happy for her.
I and my mother kept on discussing cause she
wouldn’t let me leave her side, until my brother
came and forcefully snatched me away from her
so that we could go and have out baths and get
dressed.
Exactly 12:01 pm, convoy of luxurious cars drove
and parked in front of our compoud, moneybegan to rain in the air, as my soon to be inlaw
approached, we all just stood smiling with our
hearts filled with joy, while my mother started
dancing joyfully. I tried to see who the groom
was but the crowd was just too much. The
security escorts he brought had to move the
people aside making way for the groom. By the
time I finally saw the groom, my brother inlaw to
be, my sister’s soon to be husband.
Lo and behold it was none other person than this
my God forsaken so called friend who had used
me for money ritual. He was shocked to see me
and so was I, in rage I pounced on him, but
before they could pull me away from him, I had
given him 2 heavy punch which made his eyes
closed immediately with blood dripping.
Everyone stood trying to process what just
happened, I began to talk at the top of my voice
narrating and tell my family that this is the animal
that had used me for money ritual. The whole
crowd went wild, my brother and others began to
beat him mercilessly, not even his security escorts could stop them.
This my so called friend began screaming “I’ll
confess, I’ll confess”
I ordered my brother and the others who were
beating him and calling him ritualist to stop so
that he could talk, they did and he began to
confess. He narrated everything just the same
way that my Pastor at Owerri told me.
I asked him why he did something like that to me,
and all he could say was that the both of us had
greed for money, and that he took advantage of
my urge for money and lured me into the request
of the Baba we went to meet at Ijebu-Ode. He
even went on saying that I’m supposed to be mad
by now. I told him that I can’t because God had
saved me already.
I suggested that he was handed over to the
police, we all agreed and the police arrived
immediately after we called. But upon the arrival of the police, this my so
called friend ran mad, he started to take off his
clothes and began dancing while singing with my
name “Santos head no work, Santos head no
work”
The police bundled him into their van and drove
away, everyone was in shock as they began to
curse him, and praised God for my life.
I and my family went inside while the others
dismissed still chittering and chatting about what
just happened.
Later on that evening I called Papa Obinna and
the man of God to tell them about the whole
scenario that took place earlier, they both
rejoiced about the victory and the man of God
prayed for me, he asked me to come closer to
God and He will change my life and bless me
even more than I expect.
We talked for a while
and he advised me greatly, he also spoke to my
mother who could not stop thanking him for me.
It’s been 6 months now since the whole even thappened, I started working as a supervisor in my
mother’s supermarket. I and my younger brother
just gained admission together into the
university, so I’ll be going back to school to study
Software engineering.
My elder sister later got engaged to one of her
former colleague at work who was her secret
admirer. They’ll be relocating abroad, but he has
promised to sponsor I and my brother through
school.
I have been active in doing the work of God, and
I’m not stopping anytime soon.
The end.
