” maria Akinwumi ” i shouted. She looked at me with a creepy smile on her face.
” favour, stop shouting her name” my dad said angrily. I looked at my dad shockingly.
” dad i can’t believe you did this ” i said.
” Do you know her before? My grandmother asked.
” yes she is my best friend, see dad i can never accept her, she can never your wife not in this life” i said angrily.
” favour so you mean because she is your friend your dad can’t marry her” my grandma asked.
“Yes granny, how can my dad marry my friend, that’s not possible ” i said.
” so because she is your friend that means your dad can’t marry , kai you are just stupid like your mother it’s not like she is related to him or she is his daughter, so because she is just your friend your dad can’t marry her, see she is pregnant for him and there’s nothing you can do about better accept her thank God you have known each other before, your father knew you would react this way that’s why he called us, look here maria this your home no one can send you away , may you deliver safely ” my grandma said. Maria knelt down and thanked her.
” see dad i can never accept maria, i cannot ” i shouted.
“Favour there is no need for you to accept whether you like it or not, she will marry your dad and live in this house, if you are not comfortable with it you are free to leave, thank God your mom has younger ones you can go and live with them ” my grandma said. OMG i hate this my grandma, i picked my phone and my purse and walked out angrily, there is no way am allowing maria into my family, i called her brother , my boyfriend to meet me at a certain place. I got there and waited for him.
“Babe what’s up? He said as he walked to where i was.
“See am not fine at all, do you know your sister is pregnant ” i asked.
” yes of course you told me before ” he said.
“So do you know she is about to get married ? I asked.
” yes, the man came to our ask house to ask for her hand in marriage, the man is very rich my parents accepted sharp sharp ” he said as he laughed.
“This is not a joking matter, that man is my dad” i said.
” sorry what did you just say? He asked.
“Mark, i said the man your sister is getting married to is my dad” i shouted.
” oops, that’s unbelievable, so what’s wrong? He asked.i looked at him shockingly.
“You mean there is nothing wrong ? I asked.
“Yes , she is pregnant for your dad, so i don’t see anything wrong ” he said.
“So what’s about us? I asked as i glared at him.
“Us, as how? He asked.
“I mean our relationship” i said.
“What’s wrong with it? He asked rolling his eyes.
” if your sister gets married to my dad, that means we can’t married” i said. But mark started laughing 
” what’s funny? I asked.
“So you thought i was going to marry you before” he asked.
“Yes naw , what’s that not the reason why we were dating “i asked as i faced.
” see, i am not dating you with marriage in mind, if it was not for my sister do you think i will date you, she told me you loved me, she begged me to date you, that was why i started dating you” he said. I couldn’t believe my ears , so mark didn’t love me he was only dating me because of maria, that girl i am going to destroy her life.
“I was even planning to break up you , you are too clingy, and now your father is my brother in law to be , that’s somehow funny” he said as he laughed. I looked at him angrily.
“I hate you” i shouted as i stood up and turned to walk away.
“I hate you more favour, see you at my sister wedding , sorry i mean your friend wedding ” he said as he waved, i just away without answering him, Maria i will be the end of you !!!!
I went back home, i met my dad and maria sitted in the sitting room, i glared at maria and walked into my room. Few minutes later, i heard a knock on my door.
” favour please can i come in? My dad asked.
“Yes you can” i said, he came in and he sat beside me on the bed.
“Favour , am very sorry, i know i hurt you, but am sorry, i didn’t mean to keep things from you, please forgive me ” my dad said as he pleaded.
“Dad, how could you, if it was another woman I would accept her but maria is an exception” i said sadly.
“I know, she is your friend, please accept her, she is pregnant for me and there is nothing wrong with it, please am begging you , so there will be peace in this house, i want you to be friends with her again ” my dad pleaded.
“Okay dad i will try” i said.
” please darling try, she is not the one at fault, i am the one ” my dad said.
“Ok dad” i said.
“Thank you” my dad said as we hugged.
Few days later
Everything was fine , maria was living with us , i avoided her , i don’t talk or reply her whenever she talks. That day , i and maria was the only one at home, my dad went to work, i was feeling hungry so i went to the kitchen to get myself breakfast since our maid travelled to visit her sick mother, as i was cooking, maria entered the kitchen.
“Favour, good morning ” she said as she greeted me, i didn’t answer her, i just walked away.
“Favour are you deaf? She said as she faced me.
” you must be very stupid for that statement am not deaf, i just decided not answer you” i said as i continue walking. But maria blocked my path.
“I know you are very angry because your dad is getting married to me, but there is nothing you can do about it ,moreover am pregnant, i know your mom’s ghost must be somewhere lingering around this house, she must have been so angry that someone is replacing her place, but everything in this world is fate, she must have been fated to die early, i really feel sorry for her” maria said mockingly as she cleaned her fake tears. I was so angry that i raised my hand and slapped her, she almost lost her balance, she was shocked, suddenly my dad opened the door, maria bursted into tears and ran to him.
“Why are you crying? My dad asked.
” favour didn’t mean to slap me” she said, that sly girl.
” you mean favour slapped you? My dad asked angrily.
“She didn’t mean to ” maria said as she wiped her face.
“Favour why did you slap her, you are so mean, don’t you know she is pregnant, i thought you said you would be friends, but you lied,i know you hate her just because she married your dad, what if i didn’t back home to pick something, you would have beaten her black and blue, why are you so senseless? My dad said angrily, i couldn’t not believe my ears, my dad didn’t even bother to ask about what she did, i looked him suddenly and bursted into tears and ran towards my room.
One week later
” favour come out ” my dad shouted as he knocked my door, i was suprised because since the day i slapped maria he was angry with me and he didn’t bother to talk to me since that day.
” open this door before i break it” he shouted. I got out of the bed and opened the door.
“Dad good morning ” i said as i greeted him.
” there is nothing good about this morning, follow me” he commanded as he walked away.
“Dad what’s wrong? I asked but he didn’t answer so i followed him, i got to the sitting room and i saw our maid kneeling down, i saw maria crying, when she saw me, she rushed towards me and held me.
“Why do you have to be so wicked, i know i offended you, but that doesn’t give you the right to try to abort my baby, favour why do you want to harm my baby, the baby is innocent why do you want to harm my unborn child” she said as she was crying. What’s wrong with this girl? Abort her baby, what’s my business with her baby
, my dad took off her hands and made her sit on the chair.
“Favour explain this ” my dad said as he threw something at me it was a medicine.
“Dad what’s this? I asked.
” oh, so you don’t know that is abortion drug but you gave it to the maid to put inside Maria’s drink” my dad shouted.
“Dad i did not give the maid anything not to talk of abortion drug” i said. I was so suprised
”Olamide talk, she said she did not give you anything” my dad said.
” ha , small madam, why are you lieing ?you gave me the medicine you said i should put it inside big Madam drink, i asked you what it was, but you didn’t answer me you said you will give me money if i did it”our maid Olamide said as she faced me, why is this girl lieing? i never gave her any medicine ,what’s she saying , why is she lieing.
“Dad, i swear ,i did not give her any medicine to put in Maria’s drink” i said.
” oh , she is lieing, you gave her the medicine yesterday evening , it was even captured in the cctv footage “my dad said as he took his latop on the table and showed me a video on his latop, i was the one in the video, i gave the maid something, i was shocked, that was another thing entirely, that was not what happened, Then i remembered that yesterday evening my dad took maria out so i was the only one at home with my maid, i sat in the sittingroom, i saw my maid looking a little bit dull, i asked her what the problem was ,she said she was having menstrual cramps, so i told her i have some medicines , so i went to my room and took some medicines for her , then i went back to the sitting room and gave her the medicine she thanked me, and she walked away.
“Dad the medicine i gave her was for menstrual cramps, i never gave her any medicine to put in Maria’s drink”i said, i glared at my maid, what this girl motive, what’s all this conspiracy.
” but you said you didn’t give her anything , but now, you said you gave medicine for her menstrual cramps, favour ,you are such a lier, why did you want to turn yourself into a murderer, just because you are not happy with maria, what if i hadn’t caught the maid,What if? If not because you are my daughter, i would have had you arrested, because you wanted to harm an innocent soul, favour why are you so wicked?My dad said. I started crying, i am not an evil person even if i hated maria, i would never harm her unborn child, why would i harm my blood, i looked at maria and noticed that she had this sly smile on her face, this must be maria doing, i can’t believe this.
“Dad, i am not the one, it must be maria, she wants you to hate me, she wants destroy our relationship she must have bribed the maid to lie, so you could hate me , that manipulating…….. i hadn’t completely my sentence when a slap landed on my face , my dad slapped me, i almost fell down, since i have known my dad he has never for once slapped me even if i did something wrong he would just correct me, but he slapped me for the first time because of maria, first it was mark, now my dad, Maria this house will be very hot for you, i said in my mind as i glared at her…………
I ran into my room and started packing my clothes, i can’t live in this house anymore, i packed my clothes and i called my mom’s younger sister, i explained everything that happened to her, she told me, she would come and pick me up. Few moments later, she called me that she was outside the house, i carried my bags and went out of my room, i saw maria in the sitting room, my dad was feeding her food.
“Favour, don’t tell me you are leaving your father’s house, because of a little quarrel ” maria said as she looked at me pitifully.
“Honey please don’t let favour leave, if she leaves now, my heart will not be at peace” maria said to my dad.
” if she wants to leave let her leave, i can’t believe you still want her to stay, after everything she has done to you, she can’t stay with you so let her go , am happy that she is going at least you would have peace of mind ” my dad said nonchalantly.
” segun, if she can’t stay with me, i can leave this house ” maria said sadly.
” you are going nowhere ,if someone has to leave , it should be her not you, ” my dad said as he patted her head, she also hugged him, this cunning girl, i said in my mind as i glared at her. Someone knocked it ,it was my aunt, she entered the house .
“Good morning ” my aunt said as she greeted.
“Oh folakemi, how have you been? Favour so it’s folakemi place you are going? My dad asked.
” yes, she is going with , since you and your new girl decided to send her out” my aunt answered in my stead.
“I didn’t send her out, it was her actions , if only you knew what she did” my dad said angrily.
” of course, you didn’t send her out, but you reactions did, how can choose to trust your maid and not your daughter, what if the maid and this stupid girl has planned to make you hate your daughter” my aunt asked as she faced my dad.
“My fiancee is not stupid, you can’t come into my house and start insulting my fiancee ” my dad said. My aunt started.
” so this is your house, i don’t know, but what i know was that my sister is the owner of this house, bro segun did you know why i stayed slient all these while, it was because you took care of favour, but now since you decided to do otherwise, you know the consequences, i don’t know why you refuse to be wise, you bought your new girl land, and built house for her parents but you haven’t built your own house, favour told me everything, i think it’s time for you to stop managing sister’s company ” my aunt said.
” stop saying nosense, folashade willed the company to me, there is no way i am giving it up” my dad said angrily.
” oh, it seems as if you have forgotten what was on the will, let me remind you, you are in charge of the company till Favour clocks twenty, thank God my sis has forseen all this before she died, i don’t know why she didn’t give anything to her family but she gave everythingto you, it was like you bewitched her, anyways prepare to leave the company very soon, goodbye” my aunt said as she walked out, so my dad is not the owner of the company it was my mom’s company.
“Favour, don’t listen to whatever your aunt says about me , don’t listen to her, please don’t follow her stay with daddy, i promise i will always trust you please stay with me” my dad pleaded. I thought my dad wanted me to leave the house few minutes ago, why does want me to stay again . I looked at him , i didn’t want to go again.
“Favour, come outside am waiting” my aunt shouted from outside.
“Dad sorry, i have to go” i said as i left the house.
