**KELVIN’S POV**

I cried my eyes out , going through the diary.

I swore those men that tried to rape my Special and the fool Oscar will die in my own hands.

I had no enough sources to get them behind bars or hire an assassin

I had to start with making inquiries

I don’t want to ask Special about it ,maybe later ,for now I have to be grateful to Angela.

She helped special in as much as I feel grateful towards her ,I don’t want her close or too close to Special,I don’t want history to repeat.

**SPECIAL’S POV**

I can’t explain how grateful I was about Dad’s surprise.

Even though he cared less about aunty Angela,I am happy he cared about my feelings for her.

I stared at her,she looked disturbed,her eyes always stealing glances at Dad,I wondered if she actually came back for me or him.

I went and sat on her lap.

“Have you eaten?”

She whispered.

Her words were always smoothen.I shook my head.

I saw her glance at Dad again,who was busy pacing around the room.

“Do you have anything available for breakfast sir?”

She asked him, breaking the silence.

“Enough for Special? Yes”

Dad replied sarcastic.

I glanced at Angela,she smiled a little but one could tell it was forced.

She wanted to say something to Dad.

“I…”

I interrupted her.

“I would like to share it with her, Dad”.

“Special it won’t be enough for two,”he replied.

“She’s our visitor”.

He looked over to us.

“I am good special,just worried about you”Angela cuts in.

“Special, get the big plate in the basket for the pap,I will go to the neighbor’s ,Mama Ada sells good bean cakes”.

I nodded and went to do as he said.

Angela didn’t say a word again until he went out to buy the bean cakes.

“I will be traveling back tomorrow,but I will keep in touch”.

She suddenly spoke out.

I dropped the pap on the table and went to her.

“But …I thought you would like to stay with me for a week or so?”

She chuckled nervously.

“I am a teacher and also…I”

“Is this because of Daddy’s attitude?”I asked.

“No … of course not,it’s a nice thing he let us stay together,he is not asking me to leave right?,I choose to, because of my work,I love you Special so bear that in mind”.

I hugged her tightly sobbing.

“I will visit during the holidays but hey stop crying,I am staying the whole day okay?”she added.

I nodded and sniffed.

Just then Dad came in.

“Here you go”.

He handed a black nylon to me.

“Thanks Dad”.

He left without saying anything else.

I put the bean cakes inside another plate and went out to brush my teeth.

“Let me see your tongue?”

Inspector Angela acted.

“Angela am 13, I am no more 10”.

“Show me now”.

She snapped with arched brows.

I rolled my eyes and opened my mouth.

“Tongue out..”she fired again.

I did as instructed.

“Good,”she said finally.

I went and carried the tray and transferred the plate on it then I brought it to her.

“Can you join me please?”

“No you should eat it”she replied.

“Dad is not back yet,let’s eat it before he comes back,I want to share with you please”

I persisted.

She laughed a little.

“Alright,but I will eat very little,”she demonstrated with a finger pinch.

I nodded, happily,I sat on the floor beside her and we started eating hungrily.

**AUTHOURESS’S POV**

After eating, Special and Angela decided to stroll in the neighborhood.

They got to a  shop and found Kelvin pricing some food stuff.

“Daddy!!”

Special shouted and went to hug him like he was away from home for years.

Kelvin smiled back and carried her in his arms.

Special waved at Angela to come over.

Angela chuckled and went to them.

“How much last madam?”

“5,000,if you no wan buy abeg comot for my shop, everything you go dey price like say na only you things dey hard for..”

The angry market woman lamented.

It upsetted Special that she talked to her Dad that way.

“Can I buy it for 3000?”Dad pleaded.Special slid down from his body and locked her fingers with his.

Suddenly the woman blasted

“Ole! Shey na 1 Kobo I buy am na…3,000 for wetin,you must be a thief.”.

Before, Special could say anything,Angela cuts in.

“Excuse me Madam,that’s rude,you don’t just open your mouth and insult..”

Dad interrupted her.

“Can you mind your business! You don’t know me…who made you my spokesman”.

Special was so shocked to hear him say that to Angela, quickly she let go of his hand so embarrassed ,she couldn’t even look Angela in the face

“Who be this ashawo oo,madam shey na customer you dey find abi na wetin ,oga say he no know you ,why you choke your mouth for another person matter…busybody!!”

The market woman started raining insults on Angela.

“Mama, why are you insulting me? I won’t take it lik…”

“Maybe next time you can just stay in your lane”

Kelvin snapped back before she could finish.

He angrily paid for the stuff while Angela left the place heading back in anger, Special was confused on who to go with,then decided to go with her Dad so she could talk to him.

The woman handed over the package to Kelvin.

“Thanks”.

He would always reply even though he was upset with the woman’s attitude.

He tried to take Special’s hand but she rejected it.

Almost half way back to the yard,Special finally spoke out.

“How could you do that ,you embarrassed Angela who actually defended you”.

Kelvin ignored her.

“Why are you punishing her for what others did to you”

She sobbed.

Kelvin said nothing.

“If not for anything,this woman took care of me for years ,you read my diary right? If you know that much about how we met ,how could you be so heartless and wicked towards her”.

Kelvin stopped and turned to her.

“That’s enough okay!!”

“No, it’s not tell me why you hated her so much”.

Special stood on his way with her hands folding, swimming in tears.

“She never wronged you Dad!,why?”

“You will never understand! now get out of the way”.

He stated and dragged her along .

“I don’t want to stay with you anymore,I will leave with her  tomorrow”

Kelvin stopped at the compound gate  and listened, still holding her.

“I was much happier without you,I am much happier with Angela,she was the sweetest soul I ever met”she added.

Initially..but soon,she will show you her true self”

He mumbled.

“I know her more than you do and at this rate ,with the way things are going ,I want to be with her”.

She let go of his hand and walked into the compound.

But Angela was only long gone,she had dropped a paper note for Special.

“I will call you dear, don’t hate me,I don’t feel comfortable staying with someone who hates me for no reason,I love you , Angela”.

Special went inside to cry her heart out.

**KELVIN’S POV**

The next day

I can’t stop thinking of Angela, I knew I was wrong to judge her,but I had a lot of fear inside that I wanted to overcome.

I already made up my mind to raise Special alone.

The first time I saw her standing on the road side with Special.I was drawn to her in a way that scared,it reminded me of the feeling I had when I first saw Sarah, Special’s mom, it just came and not forced and most scary part,it was even greater but this time around.

I hate to feel this way,pathetic and helpless, having someone get into my head so I am ready to fight the feeling.

I hated her for reviving that heart of mine at first sight as a random young lady even before Special introduced her to me.

I hope she understands and forgives me. I can’t bear to let my daughter go through all those pain for my desire because of my messed up romance life, her happiness first.

I sighed and walked into my shop.

I checked  my empty cartoon for a refill.

Last week, I received a message from my father after all these past years. I wonder what can be the problem but I don’t care so I ignored the message but it was persistent throughout the week.

 I kept ignoring it,still wondering how they get my present line.

But the  most troubling part of it is that his P.A came to my shop in person this time around.

At first I thought it was a wealthy customer because of the flashy car.

She got down and I recognized her but it was a different case the other way round, she couldn’t recognize me.

She walked to me.

“Please,I am looking for Mr Kelvin ,I got this address from…

She stared at me with a long pause.

“Sir Kelvin?”

I bent my head shamefully,but quickly got over it.

“Yes, how can I help you?”I replied tightly.

Laura was one of those girls that fought for my attention when I was living the  young billionaire luxury life,she tried to seduce me on many occasions.

She looked around my shop in a way that upsets me then stared at me from head to toe.

I rolled my eyes in annoyance.

“What can I do for you, please if you have nothing to buy ,can you kindly leave I have important customers to attend to”

I sneered.

“Your father, Chief, is very sick and he sent me to get you”.

“What’s that movie script? My father is sick and sent for me,the first Chief is not my Dad,so you can correct yourself first before I consider if I would go or not”.

“You changed a lot Sir Kelvin ”Laura said with a surprised look on her face.

I gave her a sour look

“Chief had kindly requested your presence,he is currently in Get fit hospital owned by him,he wants you to know that he was diagnosed with cancer”.

I was disturbed but pretended not to care

As far as I know ,he was a family to me, maybe I should go hear from him”

I sighed.

“I will think about this”.

“He will appreciate it,he will also send gifts”.

She gestured at the driver .

“Get the things in the boot..”

“Sorry but I can’t accept anything except what I hear from him”.

I raised a hand and stopped them.

Laura smiled back

“Alright then,I will let him know about that”.

She went back to the car,and the driver opened the door for her.

I watched with my mind racing.

“I wonder why Chief suddenly wished to see me”.
