HE WAS A BILLIONAIRE Episode 25 – AUTHOURESS CAROLUCHY

**KELVIN’S POV**

The next day I decided to go,I can’t leave my daughter alone all by herself, but when I told her about going in with me,her response shocked me.

“Daddy, I can stay here and wait ,I am no longer a baby”.

I just nodded,I know she talks like a grown up but this time she is sounding like one,I sighed and told her the prices for each item in the shop.

I didn’t bother telling her we are going to meet her supposed grandfather,I only told I want to meet a friend.

“Do you understand, if they price 1,500 tell them the last price is 1,800 for this particular one, then the rest ,remove 500 for the person”I stated.

She nodded,it was certain ,she was still mad at me because of her friend Angela. I put on my jacket, one of the tin tomato companies gifted me and set to go.

“It’s cloudy,take an umbrella daddy”she advised.

I agreed with her and went back to get the umbrella in our shop, after I rushed out ,then u returned back and hugged my daughter.

“What are you doing daddy?”she asked, her breath tightened from my hug.

“I missed you so much, that’s all”.

I pointed to my cheek, she rolled her eyes then pecked me then I did the same . Just that mine was a little aggressive because she was avoiding it. I had to hold her and peck all over her face.

“I am not a baby anymore ,dad, someone help please”.

She giggled loudled.

“I can’t believe you are here with me finally”.

I kissed her forehead, and finally released her then smiled at her.

“Love you”.

She hesitated.

“Love you to Dad,don’t stay long”.

I smiled and left  the shop.

I  had to trek to the junction. The rain started heavily,I wondered if there was a sweater in the shop for Special to wear,I sighed deeply then there was an incoming bus ,I pulled out my hand and waved but it got all the seats already occupied.

I decided to go and enter at the bus stop which was just a stone throw away, but their price is higher than the pass-by buses.

Heading to the bus stop,I saw a madwoman in the mud and her three daughters, the first one was staring at me,with her face wet with both rain and tears, her mother forced her to eat from the dirts, she would hesitate, but she was still gentle on her daughter, she would wrap herself and use it to cover her while she went back to pick leftovers in the dustbin.

I stood emotionless, spacing out ,deep in thought.

“I was in this woman’s shoes before, but yet I couldn’t even take care of my own child”.

Tears filled my eyes, glistening in them.I waited until her mom left the spot,I went fast  ignoring the onlookers, and I gave the little girl my umbrella.

“Thank you sir, please I am hungry”.

She broke down even when she was trying to hold back.

I roughly pulled out the 50 ,10 ,10 naira notes.I was scared ,if her mom came back and saw me,it would be bad luck.

I ran to a food seller and bought 600 naira food in a take away,it was the best I can do at the moment,I planned to trek to the next junction to minimize my transport

I came back and found the mother seated with her ,she also came back with food but it looked sour.

The girl found me and noticed the takeaway, her face lightened up,I  stood there still fighting within me if I should go ahead or not.

Then my eyes met with her mothers, and I swallowed hard.

“Mummy, this uncle bought food for us”.

The girl said to her,she didn’t react or move, she was staring at me.I hope I am not going to regret this,I prayed silently.

“Go get the food from him, Grace,he is afraid of us”the mother instructed, she sounded so clear and sane, but why is she here.

The girl came to me smiling, she bowed and thanked me,I handed over the food and smiled back at her,I watched her go back to her mom,who took the food and gave to each person a take away.

I was relieved I thought she would pour it,the three sisters dived in and started eating hungrily, their mother then starting looking for something.

“Oga you will not run, she wants to hit you too”.

A man next to me shouted at me.

As soon as I looked up  ,I saw her pick an object, no one told me to race off.

Halfway,I  I stopped breathlessly, anxious, I looked  back and searched.I hope she didn’t pursue me to this bus stop.

The rain is now dropping but I was happy that I was able to put a smile on the faces of those children.I saw a waiting bus ,I had to squeeze water out of my jacket, so I won’t be dripping in the bus.I entered the bus to the nearest bus stop.

“Oga abeg shift ,the water is dripping on my body”.

A lady complained.

I apologized but there was no space to shift.

I packed my self and glue to the window,I took a glance at her she was a very fair lady ,only her skin shows the kind of luxurious life ,she must be living ,why board a public bus though, she took out her  Iphone 14 from her turkey bag and started checking her massive human hair out.

“Oga adjust na ,why this nonsense”she yelled out, giving me a disgusting look.

“I did as you said”I replied ,trying not to get angry.

“Oga Wetin dey happen her there why you dey make our slay queen mad, abeg make una bring una money”

The conductor teased ,laughing hysterically.

“Na your mama be slay queen all the female members of your family,be slay queen I don’t blame you I blamed myself for entering this cupboard of a bus”the fair lady snapped back at the conductor.

“I beg you? No be you stop our bus?Give me money before you distract us and take the money run,ole ,e dey your eyes, see her eyelashes like fan,oga don hug window still you are not satisfied”.

The passengers laughed out .The lady started fuming in anger.

“You are a very stupid man,poverty-stinking fool!!”

“Madam, it’s okay! Abeg no dey shout for my head”.

A lady seated on the seat in front lamented.

I reached my bus stop before I could say anything, the lady yelled out.

“Stop me here ,idiot !!”

The bus stopped.

“Albino come down, bleaching cream don suffer for your hand, you are now almost invisible”the conductor replied.

“Charcoal, your sister is not this fine na,the ugliness in your family is the same ,no amount of bleaching can wipe it”

the lady yelled back.

“Albino!!!”

“Conductor that’s enough”

An elderly woman cautioned.

“Mama I talk to you? Respect your old age I take God  beg you”.

The fair lady threw 5 thousand naira notes at him.

“Take and buy a brain,”the lady instructed.

“E no go do shaa but I will manage, mama G!!,general for all”

The conductor saluted her.

“Here is my money”

I brought out a wet 200 naira note from my trousers and gave it to him.

He arched his brows in a way that scared me thinking he might reject the money.

“I don look you shaa, maybe na your last card ,why will you give me money that looks like you, mtchewww”.

He hit the bus to signal the driver, who engaged the engine and drove off.

I was glad he collected the money or I should be ready for my own bath of insults.

I looked back at the lady, she was dialing a number on her phone, she noticed my stare, and eyed me angrily.

I faced my front then waited for a taxi, cus going to the estate you must need one, no motorcycles are allowed.

Few minutes later, a flashy car arrived and the lady entered. She kissed the driver,I looked away from them, trying not to be drawn to them, but my mind went back to when things were good for me, now I am looking like a shadow of my own self.

They drove past me.Then a taxi came along,I waved at it,the driver slowed down in front of me and opened the door.

“Havana VIP estate please “.

“#8000”

The driver replied with a hoarse voice.

I almost disappeared, because of the price ,it was very near to the entrance gate ,why the price.

“Are we going or not?”He asked me looking from the front mirror,he saw me as a beggar, that must be the only business a man like me will have in the VIP estate.

“Ye..yes but please can I pay when we reach the destination?”

He didn’t say anything, he engaged the engine and started driving.

In a few minutes we arrived there.

The securities rounded us up immediately.

“What are you doing here, this is no place for beggars”.

The taxi explained he needed his money, that’s all.

I stood speechless, I don’t know the new guards and have no memory of me so explaining won’t work.

Just then the P.A that gave me the invitation came out ,she was overjoyed to see me,her security followed her like puppies.

“Sir Kelvin!!”

She said with such a tone that made me wonder why the excitement.

The guards were so surprised, they quickly let go of me and went back to their former position.

“Oga my money na!!”

The taxi driver started lamenting.

“Danielle, please transfer the money to the driver”.

The P.A told a woman standing beside her.

She got her own personal assistant too.

The lady went to the driver and started attending to him with a large tablet on her palms.

“Chief will be very happy to see you, sir”.

“So which hospital are we going to?”I asked about dismissing the initial statement.

“None,he is right here. Please come with me sir Kelvin”.

“Can you stop with the formalities please I am not sir”

I countered.

She chuckled,”I’m sorry but I can’t do that sir,I don’t want to lose my job sir,it was Chief’s instructions,I dare not call you just your name,Sir Kelvin “.

I wondered what she meant by that, why would he instruct her to refer to me as a boss.

When we entered the room,I could recognize a few of the servants.

They all bowed and greeted in a chorus, my breath tightened, I felt heavy in heart,I didn’t want to give in and cry, that feeling of being Important and honored.

Why all this, why is the Chief suddenly being nice to me.

We arrived at his office door.

“I will stop here no one is allowed in there you know”.

She said and left.

I took a deep breath ,I knocked and pushed the door open.

I found him looking healthy and fit,he didn’t age at all.

“Good day sir”.

I bowed and greeted.

He came and hugged me, giggling.

“Welcome back son”.

“Excuse me?”

“I just wanted to be sure about the son that I have ,I planned all this and faked the news about a side chick, that am not your real father but I wanted to be sure of my decision”.

“I am kinda lost here”.

I said not smiling,I was actually confused.

“Can you please sit”he gestured at the couch behind me.

I hesitated then decided to obey him.

“There, you see I just followed the family tradition, my father did the worst just to know if I can handle breaking down from grace to grass,I lied about everything, may your mother forgive me,it’s time to hand over to you Kelvin so I had to play my part as..”

“Wait a sec Chief, let me get you,you are my real father?”

“100 per ,I have the DNA results if you like, I mean the resemblance says it all”

He said with a grin.

“And you let go through hell because of a fucking tradition!!!”

I blew hot,he could tell I was angry not just angry I was crazy, more crazy than when I was actually a mad man.

“I don’t know what you went through but it will make you stronger,I am currently the 3rd in the world son,if in the future something went wrong you will be able to overcome the pain”.

My fists crushed and tightened. I was holding back from getting physical with him.

“You don’t know what my daughter and I went through because of your foolish tradition! You have no idea the pains I have been through.

How this broke my marriage, and my precious daughter, it …damaged her and you are talking about a stupid tradition, what were you thinking,it was way for me out there!”

I broke down in tears.

“You..you have a daughter. I… have a granddaughter!”

He replied excitedly.

I ignored him, this man really, he had know idea,it all started with Sarah leaving, then Cynthia, he had no idea,I am sure he did thought,I was living poor but peacefully.

I looked him coldly straight in the eyes.

“I will never forgive you for this, and we can survive without your riches, nice to meet you again sir.”

I turned  and walked to the door, wanting to open it but it was locked.

“Listen son,I never had any idea of what happened, you should have come back and ask for help,i would’ve told you sooner if the situation was bad,but I think you value your ego more than your daughter”.

I broke down and my gut tightened.

“Don’t say that,I love my daughter very much, you expect me to come back when you tell me you want nothing to do with me?”

“You are still a cry baby Kelvin, you remind of how soft your mother is ,whenever we had our differences, now don’t let the employees hear your voice, now come give me a hug,at least forgive me for your mother’s sake”.

I looked up at the big portrait of mom on the wall, smiling.

I  hesitated , then I stood up and turned to go.

To hell with their tradition, I can survive this on my own, my daughter went through hell for a silly traditiona?

SPECIAL’S POV

I tried Angela’s number, she kept cutting off the line.

I sighed and went to lie down on the bench in the shop.

I wonder if dad went well,I don’t want him to go and not come back again.

I should’ve followed him,I was still angry about Angela.

“Oga Kelvin!!!”.

A voice cuts into my thoughts,I looked up and found a woman.

I greeted her but she Ignored me brutally.

“Where is the man that owns this shop!!”

She seemed very angry.

“Mah he went away”I replied, anxiously.

“Okay oya make una park all the things here, comot”.

She told the men with her.

“Mah I don’t understand, why are you parking my daddy stuff out of his shop”.

“Don’t listen to that little rat”.

She told the men, “park the things out,he is not the only poor man in this place”.

Then she turns to me.

“When he comes back tell him the caretaker , already sold this shop,I gave it to someone else who is serious with his business”.

I want in my knees

She was surprised.

“Please mah please,I think he went to the bank to end the money just give us another day”.

I lied but I had to.

“You think? Well until I receive an alert then, park everything out!!!”

I stood aside crying and dialed his number but it was switched off.

I wonder how broken Dad will be to know this.I have to do something and stop them but what exactly.
