Daniel got home that night by 9pm.
The dispatch rider was not yet released, as he sustained a slight injury on his leg,but the doctor said he would be discharged tomorrow.
As Daniel walked into his sitting room,he saw Vivian sitting down and lost in thought,he glanced at her for some time as he stood still,before he decided to make his presence known to her, seeing that her mind had thralled off.
“Vi… I’m home”
Vivian was startled at once.
She stood up and her full gaze was on her husband, she tried to look at his face to understand what Daniel was up to;but his face was void of emotion.
She didn’t know if she should welcome him or not, seeing his response to her on the phone.
Daniel carefully articulated what she was thinking about and he decided to break the silence
“Had something bad happened to me,is this how you’d have stared at me from a distance?…. Aren’t you glad that your husband is alive?”
Once again,Daniel proved her wrong as he spread his arms wide open expecting a hug, Vivian burst into tears as she hurriedly ran into Daniel’s arm
“I’m sorry I made you leave the house in an.ger honey,if anything had happened to you, seriously I won’t forgive myself” Vivian wailed uncontrollably
“Look at me honey” Daniel said as he released Vivian from the hug,he carefully made sure he stared deep into her eyes
“Nothing will happen to me my Love,we will grow old together… we will raise our kids and even eat the fruits of our labour, nothing will ever happen to us”
Immediately he was done saying this, Vivian wrapped into his arm once again
“What will you eat tonight?” Vivian asked
“Nothing… been alive is enough and having my beautiful wife by my side is enough to fill me up… come on let’s go to bed,I need to rest?” Daniel held Vivian as they both strode into the room
But Vivian wanted to say something
“Honey about the food…”
But Daniel interjected at once
“Not tonight Vi…. please let’s sleep “
Vivian was surprised as she watched her husband lay down immediately he removed his clothes,he laid down and wrapped Vivian to himself as he slept
Vivian couldn’t sleep. Inwardly she was scared and didn’t know what Daniel has in mind
“How can a man be this nice?… This is unbelievable,maybe he is up to something else” Vivian mumurred to herself.
She kept thinking about so many things until she slept off
When morning came,Daniel rose up early,dressed and left for work.
Vivian was restless as to why her husband didn’t want to talk about the reason she was buying his food from Mama Nkoli’s Hot pot,she called her Friend; Tessy on the phone and when she explained to her she told her
“Babe relax… there is no need to worry about anything,you should even be glad that you got married to a husband who is cool like Daniel… live your life girl, Na God run am for you”
Vivian hung up the call and after thinking through what her friend told her,she decided to wave it off and live her best life,she picked up herself and continued with her daily activities.
When it was Evening, Daniel came back home with all smiles, Vivian was so elated to see him
But she wondered what’s behind all this smiles
“Welcome home honey… you look so cheerful,what the secret… Do you mind sharing with me?” Vivian asked
“I never knew you noticed… Alright I’ll tell you right away,I registered your name for a Hilda bacci class, she’s gonna teach you how to cook different delicacies” Daniel said cheerfully
But immediately Vivian heard it,her face went all sour
“How can you register me for a course without letting me know… I’m sorry Daniel but I’m not going to attend any class that’s final”
“… What!!!!” Daniel exclaimed with a furrowed brows
“Come on Dan, I’m a working class lady,how can I leave my work just to go and learn how to cook with one Hilda bacci girl…. I told you from the onset that I want househelp in this house… I’m not going to any class and that’s final” Vivian said with hands akimbo
“Is like you want to see my other side” Daniel said as He glanced at Vivian and just picked up his files and walked away….
