Dora And The Water god!
Episode 26
… When it was dawn,I wrapped the baby in one of my new wrappers and carried him in my arms. I didn’t want to go with with either the guard or the maid, so I sneaked out of the house without their knowledge.
I didn’t want any villager to see me either, so I took the narrow bush path and later arrived at the entrance of the village, where palm fronds were tied to two trees cos that was the only exit too and I paused, contemplating whether to go ahead or not.
“But, I was asked not to leave this village yet. And if I don’t leave how do I confirm if this child is truly mine? Should I do this or not?” I asked myself.
“Don’t! if you leave here that will be the end of you” I heard all of a sudden, the voice came from the baby. I have never been so shocked all my life. I froze and started to shiver that I almost dropped the baby on the ground.
“What else do you want to confirm? I came as a girl and I decided to come back as a girl this time for a reason. Leaving this village will only put your life at risk.” He said again and at this point, I was almost going to scream.
“Dora, go back to your home, you already have answers to that which you seek” He said again.
I was too scared to utter a word. I turned swiftly and headed straight home. I couldn’t also look at him, but I noticed that his gaze was fixed on me till we got home.
On reaching home I noticed that my guard and maid were already outside the house pacing back and forth and as soon as they saw me, they ran toward me.
“We have been so worried. We agreed to go see the King as soon as it was dawn but I’ve been searching everywhere for you” Said my guard standing before me.
“Are you ok?” Asked my maid who noticed that everything wasn’t well with me.
“Y…Yes, I…am okay” I stuttered.
“Please…take the child” I said handing him over and she carried him with smiles staring directly into his shiny eyes, and then paused all of a sudden looking up as if she was going to say something.
“What are you staring at?” The baby asked all of a sudden, freaking her out that she almost flung him aside but I was smart enough to have grabbed him immediately from her. She ran out of the compound screaming at the top of her voice.

The guard stood there so confused and frightened, broadening his chest and looking from side to side like one who was escaping from something, and then he summoned some courage to ask.
The first… time I saw this baby, I… I knew he was going to be a very powerful child. But, was he the one who spoke just now?”
I was so embarrassed and already feeling so uncomfortable, so I nodded my head sporadically and I hurried into the room. I dropped him on the bed immediately, bolted my door from behind and I stood before him crying, wondering the kind of shame I was about to go through if the villagers eventually find out that my newborn talks.
“You don’t need to feel that way you know? You don’t just know what’s coming or has come to you yet” The baby said, and i almost ran out of my room screaming too but had to control myself.
“Is this some sort of joke or what? Where exactly are you from cos I don’t think I’m ready to face this shame. Why don’t you just go back to wherever it is that you came from?” I asked in tears.
If I decide to go back to wherever I came from, do you think that you will be able to fight this battle ahead of you alone? ” He probed.
“Who exactly are you?” I asked.
“Like I said, I came into your life once as a girl, but this time I decided to come as a boy cos Neni and her grandmother already knew that you were going to have a baby girl. This is all Neon’s plan. I know that Neni’s grandmother is a goddess but with what Neon already did to me, she won’t find out in a hurry that my gender was changed.”
I busted into tears again as soon as I heard that.
“But, I thought that I would be free from pains and all these after having you. Am I ever going to be free from all these?” I questioned.
“The battle is almost over, Dora” He said and for the first time since I birthed him, I felt the urge to carry him and give him a hug which I did, and also planted a kiss on his forehead which he responded to by smiling.
And then, I started to hear voices from outside the compound. The voices began to approach, till it entered our compound.
“We must see the baby, we must see the talking baby” I heard people chanting.
I was so afraid initially but the baby said to me “Welcome to the first phase of triumph”.
I didn’t understand what that meant and was going to ask him when I started to hear the King’s voice, and I became a bit relieved and I dropped him on the bed and quickly unbolted the door.
The King walked into my room and as soon as he saw me, his jaw dropped in awe.
“You put to bed and you didn’t even bother to send either your guard or your maid to inform me?”
On hearing that, I fell on my knees and started to apologize to him but he asked me to get up that it was fine.
“Can I carry him?” He asked smiling and I rushed up immediately, carried the baby from the bed and was about handing him over but to my surprise, as soon as the King saw him, he removed his crown and knelt immediately before the baby …
