Damian and the pregnant Ghost 5
We got home and I told Damian everything I was able to get from her. I told him that first thing in the morning, we would go to trace the information I got from her. We prayed and was about sleeping when I felt her presence but not in the room, outside the compound. I opened the door and came out to see her standing at the entrance of the compound. It was already 12 midnight. I moved a bit closer and saw the angry look on her face. I was already prepared for her visit.
“This is the only place you can stay. Damian is out of your reach. I promise to make things right and Grant you eternal rest.”
With this words, I left her standing there and went inside to sleep. Damian was fast asleep and I had to let him enjoy his sleep..I lay beside him and dozed off.
Early in the morning, we left for Olu obasanjo road. On getting to the address she told me, I saw a man bringing out his vulcanizing equipments outside. I told Damian to wait in the lock up store across the road while I approach the man. On getting there I greeted him and stood beside him.
“Sir please can I speak with you I told him”
“Fine girl I hope problem no dey he asked
“No problem sir, it’s just that I want to ask you something and I hope you don’t get offended sir”
“It’s ok . Ask. He said nodding his head.
“Sir are you the one that his wife died by car accident few months back?
“Yes na me. The woman na my wife. The person wey kill am run but him no go run forever.”
He said it with pains written in every word he uttered.
“Why you dey ask?
“Because I’m here to see you sir”
“So na you kill my wife eh” he said enlarging his eyes.
” No sir. But your wife send me message last night. Na she even give me the address and how to find you”.
Even though it was a lie, I had to make it look convincing. I saw how he mellowed down and looked at me. His expression was full of curiosity.
“Oya come inside the shop come sit down.” He offered me a bench and I sat down. He sat opposite me and I began the conversation immediately he sat down
“Your wife saw me last night on my way coming back From work. I live at AGIP. I was at rumuola junction wetin for bus when she came to me and we began discussing. She told me to to tell her husband to allow her rest in peace. That she’s tired of roaming the Earth. That she wants to rest” i told him.
I calmed down and watched him as he was shaking his head and legs.
“She was the one that gave me the address on how to locate you. She even told me you job. She was about telling me your name when she walked out with a knife in her hand”
“So you dey see spirit” he asked
“Not like that sir. I only see the ones that has a message for there family and after that I won’t see the ghost again”
“I no fit do am” he said shaking his head. The person wey kill her go join her before she rest. She must kill the person”
“What if the person is innocent. You’re pushing your wife to Kill an innocent man”
“Innocent how? He asked
“Your wife told me that the man is innocent. The man took her to the hospital but the doctor refused to come on time. She needed a doctor badly. This same man deposited money, even took the doctors number and was calling him but the doctor refused to come on time. By the time the doctor arrived she has died” I told him.
He looked at me with his mouth open but I continued.
“You know the truth. I believe the hospital told you everything.”
I looked at him eyeball to eyeball. He sighed and shook his head.
“If him do all this things, why him run abandon her body for mortuary” he said.
“Maybe he panicked and became scared but he still came back after one week and was told that her family has taken her dead body”.
“One of the nurse for the hospital na my neighbor, na like that I hear wetin do my wife after she no come back. I vex say the man run and I tell myself say I go make the man pay. I dey suffer now with the small two children wey she leave behind. E never easy for me by myself to do everything.” He said sobbing
“I am very sorry sir. But the nurse tell you say the man later come back to take care of everything. I asked him
“Nooo. Nobody tell me anything again”
“You see why it is not good to conclude things without finding out the Truth. You’re anger is pushing you to kill an innocent man who did everything to save her life”
