The number one cause of a lifeless marriage is the absence of the Holy Spirit present in the individual lives of the couple, and the absent of God in their home. The number two reason why we have more failed, divorce-full and purposeless marriages today is because of pressurizing statements such as the ones above.

“Why don’t you want to make me happy?”

Hmmmm, Mom, I wish you can understand that our intention is not just to make make you happy by getting married, the ultimate goal is for our marriage to KEEP you happy.

Yes it may look like we are taking too much time, it is because we want to keep you happy.

Yes it make look like we are too selective and choosy, it is because your happiness is also our marriage goal too.

The last thing we want is to be pressured into marrying someone who will not let you into our home. It will break us to pieces to be married to someone who will not serve you a class of water anytime you come visiting. Some of us cannot bare to see our parents mistreated by anyone, not even by our spouses. We treasure you so much, we love you so much, we care about your happiness so much, and this is part of the reason why we want to be married to someone who will be good to you, someone who will love you as much as we do, this is what we want.

Some of your friends whose children have gotten married may not tell you this but many of them have not seen nor visited their children’s home after the wedding day, not because they don’t want to visit their inlaw, but because they are not allowed to come in. Some of your friends have vowed not to visit again because of the way they were treated by the same inlaws the last time they visited.

Be patient with us, please.

Give us a chance to make this one important decision with God and get it right. Give us a chance to marry for you a second daughter, or a second son. Give us a chance to make this decision without any pressure pushing us behind. Give us a chance to marry someone who will love and respect you even more than we do. I know it is not your prayer to make you the happiest mother in the world on our wedding day, and then we go on to become the saddest couple for the rest of our lives. More than anything, we want our marriage to keep you happy.

A scripture says “Joy comes in the morning”, please give us a chance to wake up.
