💐PART 1💐 💐 THE MAID💐
One faithful afternoon, I spotted our house maid po!sōning my mother’s drink.
She took out what clearly appeared to be a little package from her apron pocket and was carefully opening it while looking all around to ensure that no one could see her in the process.
When she finished opening the box and was ready to empty it into the glass of juice, perhaps after some had gotten into the glass of juice, I jumped out of my hiding place and caught her right handed.
She trembled as she realized I’d noticed her carrying out her harmful act.
And she quickly tried hiding the little package back under her apron.
“Aunty Cecelia,
What are you putting in
my mother’s drink.?”
I shouted, but not too loud, because didn’t want my mom knowing about it right away.
Otherwise, she would have gotten in trouble with my mother. Furthermore, what if she wasn’t intending to put poison in the juice? I would have made myself appear shameful to her.
“Errhhmm…ehnnn… it’s a kind of flavor meant for sweetening juice.
I mean….yeah..” She stammered.
“Flavor for sweetening juice you say??
Aunty don’t lie. I noticed you watching carefully before placing it in the glass, and I have a feeling you were attempting to po!son my mother’s ju!ce, didn’t you? I interrogated her.
“Doris, How can I po!son madam’s juice na?” She responded in a shaky voice.
At this point in time, I stared at her with suspicion and anger.
She felt embarrassed and frightened.
“But can you taste it?” I asked her.
MAID: “Errnnnhmm, aarrrhh,… I didn’t put anything in it oo.”
ME: Aunty, If you cannot taste it, I will notify my mother immediately, and she will come here while you taste it in her presence. I am not joking. I raised my voice.
MAID: Please don’t tell ma’am, i didn’t put anything in this juice. just calm down, i..i..i will taste it.” she begged.
And with a shaky hand, she lifted the glass of juice to her lips and took a sip…..
