That night, Maria and Lucia cried themselves to sleep.
Early the next morning, Rosa went into Maria’s bedroom saying.
“No need to get up this morning”, she said.
“You don’t have to do your chores today. Do you hear me, my pretty little cockroach?”
Maria nodded as Rosa sat down on the corner of her bed and began to sing her a lullaby.
It was a song she used to sing when Maria was just a baby.
The young girl welcomed this tenderness from her mother for such great years of being an infant and soon closed her eyes.
Suddenly, Rosa took a small hand knife out of her sleeve and before Maria knew what was happening, she drove it into her daughter’s che$t, piercing her he@rt, Maria d!ed almost instantly.
A few hours later, Lucia woke up and went into her sister’s bedroom.
She was horrified to find the bed soaked in bl00d and Maria lying de@d in the middle
Terrified, Lucia ran downstairs.
“Mommy! Mommy!”
she screamed. “A murdérêr broke into the house while we were sleeping and k!lled Mary!”.
“You’re not serious, let me go check your sister but, before we go”.
Said pointing at a large Oven
“Enter that oven to check my boiling meat you cockroach”.
Lucia despite being the youngest of all her children had vast intelligence and being too smart for her age.
She find it strange when her Mom was not showing empathy to her late siblings who just passed on.
“I don’t know how to enter it ma” she said, staring hard at her mother
“You stup!d cockroach what’s so difficult entering the oven”.
As she described how Lucia would enter the oven.
Suddenly Lucia púsh her callous mother with all her strength and shut the Oven door and started running for her dear life.
That was how the cruel mother d!ed, as for Lucia,she was adopted by some kind couples who cared for her.
