The Secret Part 2 – Emeka Edozie.

I tried to say something but I was so shocked that thin air left my mouth. Lina rushed towards me and flew into my arms like a baby who saw her mother coming back from the market.

I struggled and pulled her away from me. She was wearing an old brown gown which swept the ground freely as she walked.

Her outfit which made her look like a lady from a poor background made it difficult for me to believe that it was Lina.

“Lina, what are you doing in my house? How did you locate my house?”

“Emmy, I’ve been searching for you all these years since we left the university. The truth is that, immediately we graduated, I lost your contact and my phone. That’s why I couldn’t reach you anymore”

” What are you doing here? I don’t understand what you’re saying”, I asked her again.

” Now that I’ve finally seen you, I’m not going to ever let you go ever again”, she smirked.

” Errrrrrm….. are you out of your mïnd? Don’t you know that I’m a happily married maaaaan”, I stammered.

I was about to ask her what she was doing in my house before I heard the footsteps of my wife approaching.

On sighting me, my wife ran out excitedly and hugged me.

“Næughty man, why didn’t you tell me that you were going to come back today? “, she asked while planting kissssses all over my face.

” Sorry babe, I wanted to surprise you. I wanted to see what you will do when you see me”

” Welcome, my husband. I hope your journey was seamlessly nice? “

” Yes, it was. Meanwhile, who is this lady standing here? “

My wife looked at Lina and ordered her to take my box and other things to our room.

“Yes, ma’am”, Lina responded before she left with my baggages.

“Sweet, don’t worry. She’s our new maid. Just come and freshen up and when you finish, I will answer all your questions”, she said excitedly.

We walked into our room even though my mind wasn’t at peace. My wife would have noticed my mood but I tried as much as possible to pretend and act as if everything was ok.

I met Lina in my final year during weekend lectures. She was such a lovely, calm and smart lady who made sure that I was always happy.

Truth be told, we never broke up. Immediately after my final exams, we travelled to our various destinations.

At first, we communicated steadily, but as time went on, the communication reduced probably because she met another person.

I tried to reignite our love but it wasn’t possible because I couldn’t reach her anymore.

So, seeing her again after so many years, brought back old sweet memories of what we shared together.

“Honey, why are you taking so long in the bathroom. Come and give me some sugar. I’ve missed you badly”, Clara’s voice sounded from our bedroom.

As the water from the shower caressssed my back and danced on my head, I couldn’t help but think of what would happen if my wife finds out about Lina.

I was torn between telling her or keeping the secret…
