Stabbed My Mum To Death – Heamam Babatunde Harbolore
I knew if it wasn’t my Mum’s friend, mummy Dara, that stábbed my mum to deāth on that woēful night, it wasn’t going to be anybody else.
We grew up, My sister and I, knowing my mum and her friend, mummy Dara, as best friends. She had helped our mum many times when things were terribly hard for our mum after our father’s dēath. My mum had just two children; My elder sister and I.
But then, something bād happened on the 27 of June, 2021. My mum was stābbed to deāth around 8:30pm. I wasn’t at home on that bād night, I was away. I was in school. My elder sister was away too. She said she was outside the house when the bād and unforgettable incident occurred.
As my sister told me, before she could get there, she had met police in our room and our Mum’s dēad body had been carried away.
I was told the next day. I cried and wept sorrowfully because I love my mum so much. I wondered who could have done that to my mum and this was because, My mum wasn’t a bad person. She was always calm, gentle and silent. Even if she was offended by a person, she would forgive the person easily. She was a soft hearted person.
When police visited our house the next day, I urged and begged them to help us to find the person who k!lled my mum. My elder sister, with tears rolling down her cheeks, knelt down before the police and begged them too. ” who k!lled my mum mustn’t go unpunished. Please, police” she begged, as she started crying again.
After some days, The dpo invited me and my elder sister to the police station. He asked us if we knew anybody who could be a suspect. A person who we thought could be the k!ller who k!lled our mum. That was where I sensed back to what happened between my mum and her friend, mummy Dara.
” Sir. Yes_ it was mummy Dara, My Mum’s friend, that k!lled her” I screamed. “how?” the dpo asked, as he rest his hands on the table, listening calmly to my words.
Okay. I was inside my room that day when I heard my mum and her friend, mummy Dara, arguing. They had a serious fight that day. They rained heavy curses on each other and that was the last day I saw them together. The fight led to their separation. They separated. That wasn’t enough to say she was the one who k!lled my mum but I overhead her say, ” If you’re not careful, You’ll d!e on this” she said, angrily to my mum.
After telling the dpo this, an immediate action was taken. Mummy Dara, My Mum’s friend, was arrested and tortūred. But even after she was beaten bádly, she didn’t confess still. She said she didn’t mean her words, She said she said this only because she was āngry at my mum then. But then, I told the dpo to handle her well. ” she’ll confess later” I told the dpo.
But something happened and it was unimaginable. After some weeks, The dpo called me and told me to come together with my sister but she wasn’t round. So I went there alone.
As I got there, The dpo showed me some pictures that were taken on that night my mum was stābbed to déath. My mum wrote a name on the floor with blood__” Nikky”. I knew the person who bears the name. Also, The kn!fe that was used to stāb my mum, I’ve once seen it somewhere before.

Immediately as I saw the pictures, I went completely enraged. I wouldn’t ever believe it was Aunty Nikky that would be responsible for my Mum’s dèath after all the things we had sacrificed for them, just to allow peace to reign and live a completely healthy life.
“ Don’t worry, sir. I’ve known the person responsible for this. Trust me, You’ll hear from me” I told the dpo as I angrīly stood up from the chair and took a step to leave his office. The dpo, after hearing this from me, tried to hold my hand, But I had turned my back and left angrīly.
I wouldn’t ever wait a little to listen to whatsoever anyone wanted to say, I flagged down a bike and I was soon taken back to home. I opened the door and angrīly slammed it closed. I threw my bag on the chair, Removed my scarf and dialed my sister’s number. The number was on call, when she entered.
“ Thank God you’re here. Don’t worry. Today is today. You wouldn’t believe what I just saw today at the dpo’s office” I said, being completely anxious. “ What’s it, Please?” My sister asked.
She tried to calm me down. After a few minutes, my body was soon calm and I sat down. I explained everything to her and in a blink of an eye, she went completely màd too. “ No, Police won’t take the right step” My sister said. “ What do you mean by this?” I asked her. “ Just wait and see!” She said.
My sister left my side and went to the kitchen straight. After one or two minutes, she came back with two knīves in her hand. She immediately put one inside her jean’s pocket and covered it up with her shirt. Then she turned to me, “Take this one too and put it in your bag” She said. “ To do what exactly, please, sister?” I asked, shivering. “ Let her feel what our mum felt” She said, wīldly. “ This is to say?” I asked. “ We will k!ll her as she k!lled our mum” She said.
As if I’ve never heard the word “ K!ll” before. Goosebumps filled my skin as I looked straight into my sister’s eyes. “k!ll?” I asked again. Then she asked me to drop the knīfe if I don’t have the mind. I dropped it, but I was convinced to follow her to Aunty Nikky’s house.
Even as if we were in the car to Aunty Nikky’s house, My mind wasn’t at rest at all. “ You’re not taking the right step” My mind kept disturbing me. I wished I could convince her, but the decision has been made already.
We soon got to Aunty Nikky’s house, We tiptoed in her house’s gate. She was living alone. She was my dad’s sister. Her house’s door was locked. “ what should we do now?” my sister asked me. “ Let go back home, please!” I said. My sister disagreed. She called me a coward.
But while we were there, I was wondering how and where my sister even got this mind of k!lling. “ Let go and look through the window” My sister said. Well, I agreed.
As we looked through the window, what we saw Aunty Nikky doing inside the room was so shocking.
To be continued.
