I held my stomach as i laughed heartily to Nath’s joke.
We were seated in the compound after having lunch.
Darrel is busy in his office trying to capture the assassin he can never capture.
It’s been a week and i can say Nath and i had gotten closer.

“You’re so funny you know?” I asked.
He shrugged and then smiled.
“Okay,you said you’re gonna show me Caroline’s pictures” I said and his smile grew wider.

He truly loves her.

He brought out his phone and scrolled through it before handing it to me shyly.

Is that how love feels like?
Does love make a man act like a teen?

I collected his phone and stared at the lady’s picture on the screen.

Wow!
She’s beautiful with short red hair,blue eyes,tiny nose and perfect lips.
She wore a pretty smile, flashing her perfect dentition.

“Wow! Nath,she’s beautiful” I said.
“Thank you” He grinned.
“So..how did you meet her?” I asked glancing at the picture once again.
“Well…she’s the daughter of Fenmore Walker,one of the wealthiest business man in this City..”
“Really?” I asked in surprise.

Fenmore’s daughter is dating Nath!
Then why’s he a gatekeeper?
They are damn wealthy!

“I know you’re surprised,i don’t deserve her right?” He asked.
“No! You do Nathan,you deserve her. I’m just surprised you’re dating Caroline Walker whom has allegedly turned down a lot of wealthy suitors”
“I worked for her dad for three years and I’ve been in love with Caroline the first day i resumed”
“You were in love with her for three years?” I asked and i shifted on the chair when he nodded.

“I didn’t profess my feelings to cause i don’t want a death wish but it got to a stage where i couldn’t hold it anymore,i confessed my feelings to her and was waiting for a slap to come next and also a sack letter from her dad but…” He paused to smile and then continued “She hugged me and told me how much she likes me too. Mia,she had also been crushing on me since day one”

“Wow!” I exclaimed and found myself smiling.
“We clicked up from there and we kept our relationship secret, my love for her got deeper and she did love me too. I always feel threatened by the suitors that come for her but she will always reassure me that I’m the only one she’ll marry,she turned down countless suitors just because of me” He said proudly and i smiled.

“She always want to tell her dad about us but i always stop her cause her dad obviously wants a wealthy man for his daughter and it wasn’t funny the day he found out…”

“He threw you out?” I asked and he laughed.
“Nah! That would have been better, He made me walk out of the building with nothing and he sent message across most of the companies in this city not to employ me,due to his influence i was denied employment everywhere i applied. Carol tried all she could to make me secure a good job but her dad found out again and made me lose the job. She gave me huge amount of money severally but..”

“You don’t accept it?” I asked and he nodded.
“Yeah, and she’ll get pissed at times. Believe me,i would have built mansions and set up my own business if i had accepted the money Carol offers me”
“Of course,they are freaking wealthy” I said.
“Yeah…So,i came across this job,i applied for it and i was employed” He smiled.

“Woah, you and Carol are still dating right?” I asked.
“Of course and i plan to propose soon” He said.
“Really? ”
“Yeah”
“But her father is yet to consent to it”
“It doesn’t matter, he’ll get used to it as time goes on. I would never allow anything or anyone destroy my feelings for Carol,i don’t have a family,she’s the only one i have” He said sadly.
“You don’t have a family?” I asked and he nodded.

Me too!

I was about asking him more but it’s obvious he doesn’t want to talk about it.

“Is that how love is?” I asked.
“I think so, once one is truly in love, nothing else matter. I’ve learned not to allow anything affect our relationship. Her dad is just being dramatic,he’s gonna give in soon” He smiled.

“How do you know when you’re in love and how do you feel?” I asked.
“You’ve never been in love?” He asked in surprise and I was embarrassed as i nodded.
“Really?”
“Yeah, most of the guys just wanna get in my pants,I’ve never seen anyone shown genuine love and i don’t love the one who loves me” I said.

“You might be in love,you might not just know” He said.
“Really?”
“Yeah, you’ll feel so drawn to the person and your heart beats so fast when you’re with the person, you’ll always try to avoid eye contact cause it’ll make you blush like a rabbit” He said and i laughed.

“You’ll feel it deep in your heart and know…” Nath continued and I stared on.

I wiped sweat off my forehead and sighed.

“Mia” I heard Darrel’s voice and my heart almost bursted.
I turned and saw him standing by the door, motioning for me to come.
I stood up slowly and started walking to him with our gazes fixed on each other.

It’s been a week now and I’m trying hard not to be too close to Darrel but i feel myself getting more drawn to him every moment.
It’s because he’s been nice to me right?
I will try not to be so close to him cause i will be killing him soon.

“Yes Darrel” I snapped out of my thoughts as i got to him.
“What are you both discussing?” He asked,not smiling.
“Lots of stuff” I said.
“Ohh kay…come in” He said.
“Do you want me to do anything for you?” I asked.
“No…Yes,in my office” He said and walked in.
I walked in behind him and shut the door.

We got to his office and i saw everything was neatly arranged.

‘What else did he need me for?’ i wondered as i watched him sit on his chair.
“Should i make you some coffee?” I asked.
“No, i want you to sit here with me” He said.
“Huh?”
“I mean…i want you to help me arrange these files” he pointed to the well arranged files on his desk.

“The files are well arranged” I said almost giving him a ‘are-you-okay-look’ and why did he have to look incredibly cute that i feel like remaining in his office and just stare at him all day.

“Yeah,i want you to help me arrange it alphabetically” He said and brushed his hair with his palm.
“Okay” I said and sat on the chair opposite him.
His laptop kinda blocked us from seeing each other.

There was an awkward silence as i started arranging the files alphabetically.
My breath was faster than normal and i tried to stretch my neck to steal a glance at him only to catch him staring at me.

My cheeks grew hot as i tried to figure that look in his eyes.
His eyes were filled with passion and i wondered why.

He smiled at me making my breath catch in my throat.
I fought not to smile back but it seems impossible as i was starting to smile back at him.

Just like a magic force,we both bursted out laughing…

I returned to my room immediately after dinner to start preparing for my mission tonight.
Usually,we do sit and gist or watch movies after dinner but not tonight.

I gotta prepare.

I walked into my room and bolted the door behind me.
I rushed to the window and peered out. It’s dark already.

I walked into the bathroom and opened the cabinet, i picked the key and walked back to my room.
I was about unlocking the drawer when i think i heard the gate open.
I was forced to go check but had a second thought. Nath might just want to go get something.

I bent and unlocked the drawer..
I brought out my pistol and loaded it with bullets before bringing out the rest of my mission outfit.
I started getting dressed.

???

I got ready and tucked my pistol in my ninja wear.
This ninja wear is not feeling like my former one.
That one do give me new burst of energy but I’m feeling nothing with this.

I guess it’s because it’s the first time I’m putting it on.
I walked to the window and got ready to connect my rope.

⚔️Darrel⚔️

“The mail says 9pm and she isn’t here yet” Luke said.
“Just chill, she’ll be here soon” Edwin said while Steve remained mute,with his pistol sitting on his legs.

We were seated in the car waiting for the assassin to appear.
I got another mail today, giving me the necessary information about the assassin’s mission tonight.

I had to quickly call Luke and Edwin for back up,i don’t know why they brought Steve along with them.
I don’t want to involve more cops for the fear of losing more lives,i should do this alone but the CIA leader ordered me to always ask for backup.

Why did she have to always send messages, informing me of her mission.
Is she that powerful to think she can defeat anyone?
I really need to capture her tonight to tell her otherwise.

I don’t want to return home hurt cause i left the house without informing Mia.
I don’t want her to get hurt.
She might be worried about me all night.
I couldn’t stop my smile as her face kept appearing in my front.

Why so beautiful?

“Is your plan that great to make you smile?” Edwin asked and i almost cursed at myself.
I can’t believe I’m smiling when I’m supposed to be planning on how to capture that daring assassin tonight.

I ignored him and tapped my finger on the steering wheel.
We were parked at the end of the Street , we already got the residents out of the building,we made sure there was no one remaining.
We’ve planned on how to capture her tonight and i can’t wait for us to formalise the plan.

A car suddenly drove past ours and we all cocked our guns, watching closely.
“I don’t think she’s the one,this car is totally different from the one she drove in the last time” Luke said.

The car parked just a house to the main building.
No one came out of the car for some minutes and i was starting to get impatient when the car door opened.
I bit my lips when my heart started beating fast as the assassin stepped out of her car in her normal ninja outfit.

Geez” Steve exclaimed and i could sense the fear in his voice.

“Luke capture the car plate number” I said and he quickly did.

She turned and we quickly bent our heads, peeping.
She surveyed the area swiftly,her gaze rested on our car for a while.

“Oh..Lord” Edwin closed his eyes and i shook my head.

I watched as she started walking to the building.

“Get down guys! Time to formalise our plan!”

⚔️Mia⚔️

I was at the gate of the building when i sensed some movement behind me.
I turned and surprisingly there was no one.

I pushed the gate open and was about stepping in when i heard gunshots.

I knew it!
I turned and pointed my pistol to the direction of the gunshots.
They were hiding and shooting.

This is what pisses me off the most!
They should just come out and face me.
Is Darrel among?

I allowed them waste their bullets on me knowing well it can’t penetrate my ninja outfit.
I stood there,my left arm receiving the bullets.

I was about raising my pistol when i felt a sharp pain in my arm.
Did i hurt my arm before leaving home?
More bullets sped across me landing on the same arm and it was then i realised what was happening.

The bullets are penetrating my ninja outfit!
I couldn’t think for a while as the pain was almost unbearable.
I felt weak almost immediately and tried to raise my hand but couldn’t.

I glanced at my arm and watched blood seeped out of the tiny hole in it.
I groaned in pain and started moving to my car.
More bullets hit me and i fell on my knees before i could get to my car.

I felt paralysed and for the first time in years,i was blinded with unshed tears.

“Your hands up!” I heard the deep voice of Darrel said and in seconds,he was standing in front of me pointing his pistol at my forehead.
I saw Luke, Edwin and Steve surround me too.

“Remove your mask!” Darrel ordered.

Your hands up!” I heard the deep voice of Darrel and in seconds,he was standing in front of me pointing his pistol at my forehead.
I saw Luke, Edwin and Steve surround me too.

“Remove your mask!” Darrel ordered.

Oh..no!

Mia,you can’t be this weak,you only got shot in one arm! But it’s freaking painful!
My arm felt like it was not part of my body anymore.

“Remove your mask or I’m gonna remove it for you” Steve said and i felt my stomach tighten in anger.

I groaned as i looked around,i held my bleeding arm and slowly stood up,i kicked Steve hard in the face.
He staggered back while i quickly thought of a way to attack Luke and Edwin who were looking shocked.

“You make any more move and i shoot you to death!” Darrel threatened pointing my pistol at me.
I also have my pistol with me but i can’t shoot,i don’t want to kill any of them.

Mia!
This isn’t you!

I don’t care about lives regardless of how close i am to the person,i kill whomever i want.

Shit!
I haven’t even accomplished my mission,but i know i shouldn’t bother myself cause these fools would have gotten the residents out of the damn building.

I shifted back, getting weaker each passing minute.
The bullets were seering deep into my arm.
My breathing came out faster and my eyes were starting to get blur.

Luke brought out handcuff and walked to me.
I raised my pistol and hit it hard on his temple.

He groaned in pain and fell on the floor.
Darrel rushed to me with so much fury in his eyes.
My pistol dropped from my hand and i sighed.
I couldn’t stand any longer, i was about hitting the floor when strong hands caught me.

I couldn’t see clearly but the fragrance was familiar.
I tried hard to recollect..

Boss!
I opened my eyes clearly and glanced at him.
He’s the one!
It’s boss.

I smiled happily knowing I’m safe.
“Who are you?” Darrel asked pointing his pistol at boss forehead.
Boss laughed and i was forced to laugh too but i didn’t.

Even if Darrel is almost my match,he isn’t boss match. More of him can’t defeat boss.
“Should i kill him?” Boss whispered to me and i shook my head.
“Okay,I’m just gonna teach him a little lesson” He said and i glanced at Darrel who looked as confused as hell.

Geez !
I can’t see the Luke and co anymore,they left Darrel behind.

“J. Take her into the car” Boss said loudly.

Joel is here?

I heard running footsteps but i didn’t glance in that direction.
I was looking at Darrel who shifted his pistol to Joel.

“You better don’t try to shoot or you’ll waste the remaining bullets in your damn gun” Joel said and damn!
I missed his voice.

I tried to stand on my feet but Joel quickly grabbed me and carried me in his arms.
I feel uncomfortable looking at his face now cause he already confessed his feelings to me.

He’s putting on a face mask though.

“Mia, you’ll be fine huh?” He asked and i nodded.
I closed my eyes but i could still feel his gaze on my face.

I heard someone groaning in the distance and i knew Darrel will return home hurt again.

Why do i feel bad and sorry about it.

“Open the car door Robbie” I heard Joel said and popped open my eyes.
“Robbie” I called happily amidst pains.

I missed him.

“OMG Mia,are you okay?” He asked opening the car door.
Joel carried me into the backseat and made me rest my head on his laps.
He removed his face mask.

“Get something to wrap around that arm before the bullets spread more” Robbie said.
“There’s noth…” Joel was saying but quickly pulled off his t-shirt.
He tightened it round my arm and for a while the pain reduced but suddenly started again in full force.

“Thanks Joel” I said and he nodded.
“Anne and Carla are worried at home” Robbie said,he already got into the driver’s seat obviously waiting for boss.
“How did you know…?”
“I was just surveying the area on my laptop when i saw what was happening” He said.

“Don’t talk anymore Mia, blood is seeping out of your arm at a fast rate” Joel said worriedly and i nodded.

I’ve gotten shot before but it wasn’t this painful and to think Darrel shot me made it more painful.

The car door opened and boss sat in the front passenger seat,he closed the car door and told Robbie to drive.
My heart beat faster when i saw his bloodstained hand.

“Boss,did you hurt him?” I asked.
“Yeah i did. I didn’t plan on hurting him that much but he’s a stubborn ass who wouldn’t surrender. I would have killed him if you had not told me not to”
“Mia told you not to kill him?” Joel asked and boss nodded.

“Mia why?” Joel asked me and i could sense anger in his voice.
‘I don’t know!’

“I..i want to be the one to kill him myself” I said.
“Ohh…okay” He smiled.
“Boss what about the person I’m to assassinate?” I asked.
“Robbie figured out the hotel he was hiding and i sent Anne to complete the mission” He said and i smiled.

Anne will be so happy.

“I’m sorry for not….” I was saying but got interrupted by boss.
“Com’on Mia,none of this is your fault. You tried, and i appreciate your effort” He said.
“Thanks boss” I said.

I closed my eyes, thinking about the state Darrel will be now.

⚔️Carla⚔️

“How dare you Carla! How dare you do that!” Robbie yelled in my face.
“Keep your voice low and don’t yell at me all because of a freaking bitch who got what she deserved!” I yelled back.

We were in my room and i made sure the door is bolted.
Robbie already figured out I’m the one who gives information to Darrel.

“You just betrayed us,what do you think boss will do if he finds out you’re the one giving information to Darrel” He said.
“I didn’t mean to betray boss,i only wanted her to get what she deserved” I said.
“And to your delight,she have right?” He asked. I ignored him and sat on my dressing stool.

“Why would you have so much hate for a teammate? What if Darrel had captured her yesternight? Do you think we will still be safe in this building? Why don’t you think deeply before doing anything” He said.
“Robbie, please just let me be” I rolled my eyes.

“I should let you be while Mia is writhing in pain in her room, and you caused it” He said.
“Why are so worked up about this?”
“Why shouldn’t i be?” He asked.

I sighed and faced the mirror, i won’t deny that i feel better after seeing how hurt Mia is.
Darrel didn’t fail me completely this time.

“If not for my likeness for you,i would have informed boss” Robbie said.
“Ohh… really, go ahead then” I said.
“Carla, don’t ever try this again” He said.
“I will.” I said ‘until she get caught’ I added inwardly.
“And i promise you the next time it happens,I’m gonna inform boss”

“Like i care and please get the hell out of my room”
“Don’t act like you don’t care,you know what boss is gonna do to you. He won’t spare you” He said.
“Robbie,out of my room please” I said.
“I care for you and i won’t want you dead. Don’t try this again Carla” He said before walking out and shutting the door behind him.

I blinked my eyes opened and the first thing i saw was a white ceiling.

White ceiling?
I don’t have a white ceiling in my room and what’s this pain I’m feeling in my arm.

It took a while for me to register everything.

I’m in my room at Pine estate after getting shot a night before.
Boss came to rescue me and fought Darrel in the process.

OMG!
Is he okay?

“Mia” I heard Anne called.
I haven’t removed my gaze from the ceiling and i wanted to when i heard her voice only to discover that I’m feeling pains in my neck too.

“Ah!” I groaned.
“Are you okay Mia?” Anne asked.
“Yeah,come help me sit up” I said and she quickly did so.

I sat on the bed and rested my head against the headboard, it was then i glanced at my arm which was deeply wrapped with bandage.
I was feeling pains but not as huge as yesterday’s.

“Did you changed my ninja outfit?” I asked when i noticed i was on pajamas.
She nodded.
“Are you okay? Is your arm still hurting terribly?” She asked.
“No Anne,the pain subsided already,I’m just feeling little pain in my neck” I said, noticing her baggy eyes.
“I will get you painkiller after you’re done with your breakfast. Joel went to get you coffee, we both stayed with you all night” She said.
“Thanks Anne” I smiled.

“I hope you accomplished the mission?” I asked and she smiled.
“Yes i did, it was because of him you got shot so i blew off his skull too” She said.
“Good” I smiled.

The door opened and and i saw Joel walked in with steaming coffee in hand.
Robbie walked in behind him.

“Hey, you’re awake” Joel smiled and came to peck me on both cheeks.
“Yeah” i said and realised i was starving after staring at the coffee in his hand.
“Who looks more beautiful after getting shot” Robbie said twisting his face in the process.

We all laughed.

“Here, have your coffee” Joel said and i collected it after muttering ‘thanks’
I gulped it down slowly, savouring the rich taste.

I’ve always loved Joel’s coffee.

“So how are you feeling now?” Robbie asked.
“Much more better” I said and continued seeping the coffee trying not to look in Joel’s direction.
He was staring intensely at me..

“I missed seeing your face,thank God you got shot,i wouldn’t have seen you for the next two months and some weeks” Robbie said.
“Thank God i got shot? I feel like knocking off your head right now” I said.

?Go ahead babe” He sang dancing to no beat.

We all laughed again.

“There’s a lot to discuss with you but I’ll leave that till later” Robbie said.
“Okay Rob”
“I need to go sort out some things on my laptop” He said.
“The great IT genius” I hailed and he winked before whisking himself out of the door.

I smiled and gulped my remaining coffee,i dropped the coffee cup on my bedside table.

“Gosh! I need to go inform boss that you’re awake” Anne said and also walked out, leaving Joel and i .
He sat beside me on the bed and took my palm in his.

“Anne told me you were with me all night. Thanks Joel” I said.
“It’s fine,you know i can do anything for you right?” He asked and i nodded.
“I missed you” He said looking at me in a way he has never before.

Should i call it a romantic look??

There was silence and i had to break it before he does cause i perfectly know what he’s going to talk about.

“I missed my room” I said glancing around.
“Mia, you read my letter right?” He asked.
“Yeah i did. I’m starving can i have breakfast?” I asked.
“Don’t try to wave our discussion Mia. I love you” He said and i stared at him, speechless.

I never thought he would brave up to say it to my face and now i can see the sincerity in his eyes.
He loves me truly.
Joel loves me.

He’s a fine guy and i don’t know why my heart is not opening to him.
I don’t feel anything when I’m with him.
I only love Joel as a friend but telling him that will break his heart.

“Joel,can we talk about it later? I need to bath now and eat” I said and he hesitated before nodding.

“Robbie why haven’t you found out about the person giving that damn agent our information.” Boss half yelled.

We were all gathered in the dark room.

“I’m sorry boss, I’ll do that soon” Robbie said and i wondered why he shot Carla that look.
“It’s unlike you Robbie” Boss said,more calmly this time.
“I’m sorry boss. I tried to hack into it but it was blocked, i promise to figure it out soon ”
“You better do” Boss said and turned to me.

“You are not going back to that house again” He said sternly and my heart sank.
“Boss why?” I asked.
“You’re not just going back there anymore” He said.
“Boss please,i wanna go back. I need to accomplish the mission you sent me there for. Please boss” I said.

“No! I’ll do that myself, you’re not going back there” He said with a note of finality.
Tears rushed to my eyes and i wondered when i became this emotional.

I’m not gonna be seeing Nath again and Darrel too.
Oh..no!
I’m starting to miss them already.
I can’t just leave like that. I can’t,i need to go back.

“Boss, please” I went on my knees and everyone looked surprised.
“Mia,he almost killed you!” Joel said.
“Why are you so bent on going back?” Boss asked.
“I need to accomplish the mission” I said but somehow, i felt that wasn’t the reason.

What’s the reason then?

“Well..my answer still remains no! You’re not going back” Boss said.

My phone beeped in the pocket of my shorts and i knew it was a message Darrel.
He’s the only one that has my contact apart from my team.

I slowly brought out my phone, unlocked it and clicked on the message.

? Mia,where are you?

I’m hurt.
?D.

I read the short message over and over again till i noticed i was crying.
i nearly yelled at boss.

Why did he hurt him!

What the hell is wrong with me??
Darrel is our enemy for crying out loud!

“Tell him now that you’re not coming back” Boss said.
“Bo..”
“Do not try to defy me!” He said angrily,his voice echoing the dark room.
I wiped my tears and started typing.

?I’m sorry Darrel,i won’t be coming back. I’ve gone back to California…” My eyes got blurry with tears again and i felt huge pain in my heart as i clicked on send.

?I’m sorry Darrel,i won’t be coming back. I’ve gone back to California…” My eyes got blurry with tears again and i felt huge pain in my heart as i clicked on send.

‘Sent’ I stared at my screen and it was like my heart crumbled at the same time.

Boss walked out of the dark room without sparing me a glance.
I saw Carla trying to hold her laughter and i had to resist the urge to beat the day living out of her.

“Mi..” Anne was saying.
“I want to be alone” I said and stood up,glad that my tears didn’t fall before i left the dark room.
I walked straight to my room with heavy heart.

Why should this bother me so much.
Shouldn’t i be happy that i won’t be going back there.
Why am i feeling so sad.

Is it because I’m gonna be missing Nath?
Or Darrel?

No!,it’s because i wanna be the one to kill Darrel myself.
That’s the reason i wanna go back right?
Yeah…

I opened the door to my room and stepped in.
Here doesn’t feel like Darrel’s house.
That place is more beautiful, cozy and comfortable.

Geez!
Mia remember you once loved this room.

I don’t feel like i belong here anymore.
I’ve spent years here but never felt the way i do feel when I’m in Darrel’s house.

I sat on the bed with a sigh.

I wonder when my arm will heal,I’m glad the pain reduced though.
But am i really not going back to Darrel.
I’m missing him already,I’ve gotten used to seeing his face all the time.

He’s hurt.
How’s he gonna cope?
Nath is with him but I’m sure he needs my presence the most.

I seriously wanna go back.

I carefully placed my wounded arm on the bed, rested my head on the headboard and closed my eyes with different thought running through my mind.

My whole thought is centered on Darrel.

I heard the door opening slowly.
“Anne,i said wanna be alo..” I was saying but stopped when i opened my eyes to see boss.
“Boss” I called and sat upright.

Boss rarely enters anyone’s room.

“Sit boss” I said.
“Do i need to sit?” He asked and i nodded.
He sat on my dressing stool and faced me.

“You weren’t so happy when i wanted to send you to Darrel Holden but now you’re insisting on going back. You cried Mia,you cried,just because you wanna go back” He said.
“I..i don’t know why i cried boss,i guess I’m starting to get emotional” I said.
“That’s exactly why i don’t want to send you back. Mia,you’re starting to get weak Mia,i saw weakness in you when i came to rescue you yesternight”

“I was shot boss,that was what made me weak” I said.
“You never allow yourself to get shot Mia! Darrel is making you weak!” He yelled.
“Darrel is not making me weak boss. He’s not!” I said, nearly yelling too.

“Get up,come to the dark room immediately” He said and walked out of my room.

“Who the hell ordered the new ninja outfit i sent to Mia?” Boss asked.

We were all gathered in the dark room for the second time.

“I did boss” Carla said with her head bowed.
“Why the hell did you purchased a lesser one. The one that can’t absorb enough bullets!” Boss yelled.
“I’m sorry boss,i never ordered for the lesser one,im sure it was a wrong delivery. I will make a complaint immediately” She said.

“You never seem to get anything right. What if Mia had gotten killed,what if those fools had shot her in the stomach. I removed three bullets from her arm! ” Boss yelled.
“I’m sorry boss” Carla went on her knees.

“Anne,order a new ninja outfit now! I’ll inspect it before you give it to Mia”
“Okay boss” Anne bowed and walked to the landline on the table.

She started making the order.

“Carla,any more mistake from you,i promise i won’t spare you” Boss said and removed his angry gaze on Carla only to place it on me.

“Mia you’re going back” He said i don’t know why excitement rose in me.
I’m gonna see Nath again! And Darrel too.
I nearly smiled but scolded myself.

Why am i this happy cause I’ll be returning to Darrel’s house.
Nah!
I’m not happy because of that,I’m happy because I’ll be going back to kill him right?
Yeah!

“Okay boss” I said.
“You won’t be going now though, you’ll leave after a week. Your arm would have healed by then and Darrel won’t suspect a thing but till then you mustn’t make any contact with Darrel”

Damn!
I badly wanna know how he’s faring.

“Alright boss,but don’t you think i should inform him that I’ll be coming back”
“Do not”
“Okay boss”
“You really need to prepare,i don’t know who the hell is giving them information and what have you gotten about Darrel?” He asked.

“Boss, Darrel doesn’t let out informations. I tried severally but he inserted lock in all his devices” I said.
“That’s expected,but you need to try all you can and make sure you concentrate on what you’re sent there for. I’m noticing some changes about you that i do not like”

I’m noticing some changes about myself too.

“Everyone can leave” He said and sat on his high chair.

We all turned to walk out of the room when i felt my phone vibrate in my pocket.

My mind went tp Darrel immediately and i was about bringing out my phone when Joel interrupted me.

“Mia,we need to talk” He said.
“Yeah,we really need to”.

“Mia sent this?” Nath asked in shock and i nodded.
“Why?” He asked sadly dropping my phone on the couch.

“I..i don’t know” I shouted,angry at myself for feeling so down just because Mia is gone.

Who’s she?
She’s just a housekeeper!
A live-in housekeeper!

I can’t believe i cried just because Mia left.
Why the hell did i have to?
When did i turned so weak!
I wasn’t even this weak when i fought with that anonymous guy.
But just a text message, a quit text message from Mia made me feel like a heavy luggage was dropped on me.

“Agent Darrel,your bandage is soaked with blood again” Nath said.
I nodded and remembered how Mia do change my bandage.
That worry look in her beautiful eyes.
Her smile and smooth laughter.

How could she just leave like that!

“How could she!” I yelled and sighed when i noticed i said that aloud.
Nath gave me an astonishing look.
“Agent D. Why are you so pissed just because Mia left? You weren’t even this pissed when you got hurt” He said and i cleared my throat.

“I..i..i mean who’s gonna be cooking for us and cleaning the house” I said.
“We can employ another housekeeper,so many people will be willing to work here but is Mia really gone? I don’t remember opening the gate for her” He said.
“She’s gone! I searched her room and the whole house when i received her message”

“I didn’t open the gate for anyone ” Nath insisted.
“She might have opened it herself,the funny thing is she didn’t take any of her thing with her.
“She might be playing a prank on you” Nath smiled and i wished she really was.

“Really?”
“Yeah”
“I don’t think she is, Mia would have rushed over when i told her i was hurt”
“Let’s see what happens,i still think she might be playing a prank on you”
“She’s not,she didn’t even replied my messages after seeing it”

I hand-combed my hair and jolted in pain immediately i touched my sore wound.

Everything happened yesternight…
I never knew the assassin had a team.
I thought she was the only one working.

This is getting more complicated and I’m disappointed in myself not to have come up with anything for the past two weeks.
It’s time i sat up and do this!

She keeps slipping off my fingers anytime i try to capture her.
I should have captured her yesternight but those fools ran off leaving me behind.

Are they cops at all?
Katy and Eric would have helped me in such occurrence.
I wish they were the ones i was made to team up with. We would capture the assassin within the blinking of an eye.

Arrrgh!
My cheeks hurt badly.
That giant beat me up badly.
I guess he’s the one who trained that assassin.

“I think you need to go back to the hospital. You need care and rest” Nath said.
“I’m not going back,I’m gonna take care of myself” I said.
“You should have just stayed in the hospital, your wounds need utmost care”

I rushed out of the hospital when i received Mia’s message.

“I will ask for a nurse to come treat me at home” I said.
“Should i get you something to eat?” He asked and that made me remembered Mia.

Is she really gone?

I picked up my phone and started texting her again.

?If this is a prank,you gat me.

Come back home already” I clicked on send .

I kept wondering what could made her leave without even informing Nath.

She might have wanted to inform me but didn’t find me in my room.
Or is she pissed that i left the house without informing her?
No!
Of course not!

What if she’s in danger?
No!

I glanced at my phone again…

Seen but no reply..

Damn!

I sighed softly, rubbing my forehead as cool breeze blew into my hair.

The house is no fun anymore,
I don’t even get to eat delicious meals.
I don’t have a gist mate…i just sit here lonely all day just because Mia is gone.

I’m still surprised.
I thought it was a prank but not anymore.
Mia is gone for real.
I’m worried about agent D. cause he seems so down about Mia’s absence.

Even though they are yet to admit it,i know they both have feelings for each other.
It’s so obvious and i wonder why they both haven’t noticed.
They might be trying to deny the feeling now but sooner or later, they’ll admit it.

I don’t think that’s possible anymore now that Mia is gone.
She didn’t even pick any of her thing before she left.
I feel something is wrong somewhere.

Everything seems mysterious.

I stood up from my chair when i heard a knock on the gate.

Are the cops here again?

I unbolted the gate and pulled it open.
I nearly slapped myself when i think i saw Mia standing by the gate.
Have i missed her that much to mistake another person’s face for hers.

I blinked my eyes and looked again.

Same thing!

“Nath” I heard her called and this time, i was sure i wasn’t mistaken.

“Mia” i screamed happily and hugged her tightly.
She hugged me back and let out a laugh.

“I missed you” She smiled.
“Is this really you?” I asked.
“Of course” She laughed.
She’s looking more beautiful than ever.
“Where have you been?” I asked.

There’s no time for long talk,i need to call agent Darrel.

“Agent D. Mia is here” I said happily, dragging Mia in.

The front door opened and he stepped out.

“Nath, Don’t joke with m…” Agent D. Was saying but stopped when he saw Mia.

The look on his face was unreadable.
He stood rooted on the spot, so as Mia.

Their gazes were locked on each other and i enjoyed looking from him to her.

Can’t they just notice the chemistry between them!

I shifted back and cleared my throat when they started walking towards each other.

“Mia” I heard agent D. Whispered before pulling her into a hug.

“Agent D. Mia is here” Nath said happily, dragging me in.

My heart thumbed faster as i waited for Darrel to come out.
I have been waiting by the gate for hours, nervous to knock.
I don’t know what Darrel is gonna say .

Is he still gonna accept me back?

Damn!
I’ve missed this house.
I glanced at the happy Nath beside me and smiled.
I miss him too.

The front door opened and i quickly turned with my heart beating fast.
Darrel stepped out of the door and my breath caught in my throat.
Those eyes..
Lips..
Hair..

Gosh!
That feeling is back again.

“Nath don’t joke with m..” He was saying but stopped when he noticed my presence.
He wore a perplexed look and i was almost sure he won’t employ me again.

He look a bit sick but that didn’t affect his looks.
His dark eyes peered into mine and i couldn’t help but feel my heart dancing.

My whole body responded to his piercing gaze and i tried to control my breathing.
Why is he always doing this to me?
I love the feeling though and he’s the only one capable of making me feel this way.

I miss him.
I freaking miss Darrel and i feel like hugging him tight right now.

I blinked twice to snap out of my thoughts when i saw him walking towards me slowly.
I moved my legs too and started walking towards him.

We stood in front of each other and i could swear the heat i was feeling increased when he whispered my name and hugged me tightly.

Tears blinded my eyes as i hugged him back.
I rested on his hard body and sniffed his natural scent.
My tears poured and i wonder why I’m this stupid.

I’m crying again!
I’m freaking crying again cause I’m hugging Darrel.
I came back into this house with a made up mind.
I decided i won’t allow him make me feel weak again but here i am crying just because I’m hugging him.

Well it’s just tears right?
It doesn’t mean I’m weak.
I’m only crying cause i miss him right?
I shouldn’t even cry cause i miss him. I’ll see him no more once I’ve killed him.
What will i do then?

Suddenly,the pain of killing this guy filled my heart.
He has been so nice to me.
Well…he wouldn’t be nice to me if he knows who i really am.

“I missed you Mia” He said as we disengaged from the hug.
He was still holding me.
“I..i miss you too” I said.
“You cried” He said and wiped my cheeks with his palm.
I smiled and gently touched his plastered head.

“I’m sorry for leaving” I said and he nodded.
“I’m glad you’re back” He smiled and tucked my hair behind my ears.
“My parents were sick and…”
“Shhh” He interrupted me.
“You don’t have to explain anything to me, though I’ve been worried sick but you need to settle down before anything” He said.

“Your head…did you faced that assassin again?” I asked and he nodded.
“I nearly captured her,i never knew she had a team” He said.
“Really?” I feigned surprise.
“Yeah, i wish i can discuss more with you but you know as i CIA agent,i shouldn’t disclose information” He said.
“Of course” I smiled.

“How come you look more handsome even with the big plaster” I teased.
“Well..i will always look handsome even if my head is cut off my body” He said and we both laughed.

Nath cleared his throat behind us and we both turned to look at him.
He was leaning on the gate with his legs crossed and a funny look on his face.

We laughed hard and i feel totally happy.
My burdened heart sprang free, this people are capable of making a sad person happy.

“Nat..” I was saying but he interrupted me.
“Do not say anything … I miss your soup” He winked and clicked his tongue.

“I’m so happy you’re back” Darrel smiled resting his arm on the breakfast table in the kitchen.
I’m preparing home-made soup and baguette for lunch.
Darrel insisted that i rest but he later gave in to my plea.

“Im glad I’m back too, I’m sorry i made you worried” I said.
“Yeah,you made us worried for a week” he said.
“I was suddenly called that my parents were sick, i had to rush down to California,i was not even in my right senses when i texted you” I said.

“I hope they are okay now” He said.
“Yeah they are” I smiled and stared at the boiling soup.
“How did you opened the gate? Did you jumped off the building?” He asked jokingly.

Yeah i did.
I slid down the building.

“I opened the gate myself”
“Where did you get the key?”
“I..i it was not locked,it was only bolted” I said.
“Okay” He smiled and i noticed he was looking better.
I’m feeling better too.

“Pass me the tomato paste, please” I said.
“Alright chef Mia” He said and we laughed.

“Delicious,i missed your meals” Darrel said, dishing out more soup.
“But i miss you more” He added with a wink.

I covered my blush by biting into my baguette.

“I’m very sure Nath is gonna request for more,He was never satisfied with my own delicious meals” Darrel said and i laughed.
“Point of correction…your horrible meals” I said and laughed more.
“Am i really that bad in cooking?”
“Of course,you need to attend cooking class. How do you cope when you were in California?” I asked.
“Well..my best friend Katy prepare my meals” he said.
“Your best friend?”
“Yeah,i miss her so much”
“Ohh” I said dryly.

“You’ve never received any call in my presence” He said out of nowhere.
“Yeah..i don’t have friends and my family does not like to disturb me with calls cause they know I’m always working” I said.
“That’s fine, i would love to see the pictures of your brother and parents” He smiled.

They are all dead!
And none of their pictures is on my phone,i only have them in frames.

“I’ll show them to you later” I said.
“I can’t wait” He said.

“Of course you can’t. I hope your wounds hurt less now?” I asked.
” Yeah”
“But,who do you think could be giving you those informations about the assassin’s missions ?” I asked.
“The assassin of course. She loves daring me” He said.
“No,she’s not the one…i mean,she might not be the one” I said.

“I’ll need an IT genius, i need to track that email,I’ll request for one from the CIA leader” He said.

“I want more…i want more” Nath danced to the dining room interrupting my next question.
I sighed and turned to Darrel who has started laughing.

So cute..
I miss his face and deep black hair that’s always bouncing at any slightest movement.

“Souppppp…i want moreeeeee” Nath said.

“Geez,your office looks so untidy” I smirked.
“Yeah,I’ve not been here for some days” He said.
“Why?” I asked.

It can’t be because of me right?

“I..i was a bit sick so i wasn’t able to visit my office but I’m fully okay now” He smiled.
“Because I’m here?” I asked and he nodded.
“Wow!” I found myself smiling.

I’m special to him.

“You can leave,I’ll arrange the office”
“No,let’s do it together” He said.
“It’s my work Darrel” I said.
“And I’m offering to help you.. please” He said and i shrugged.

“Okay then, will you arrange the table while i sort the floor?”
“Of course” He said and eagerly set to work.

My phone beeped in the pocket of my shorts.
I glanced at Darrel who has started clearing the table.

“I’ll go get the broom and other cleaning tools” I said.
“Okay” He said.

I walked out of the office and closed the door behind me before bringing out my phone.
It’s a message from Joel.

?Come tell this your damn gatekeeper to let me in!

You can’t just leave me and come back to that bulldog!?

“Who’s shouting by the gate?” I heard Darrel said from the office.
