Episode 6
After taking my blood, it was rushed into the theatre, the doctors were trying all they could to save both of them. I really tried to fight back the tears. All these years I never paid any attention to my daughter. I never tried to get close, I just pray she wakes up soon.
Soon after, the doctor came out from the theatre, we stood up to see him.
“How did it go doc” Remi asked
“The surgery was successful but we can’t say anything now.
Nira suffered a seizure during the process. We have to monitor her vital signs and make sure everything is okay with her” he explained
“And Nina” I asked
“She’s okay, but we have to wait till she wakes up”
“Can we see them?”
“Yes you can, excuse me” he walked away.
We moved to the ward where they were kept. Remi and I went in while Emelia stood outside. I went straight to Nina, she was on drip. I couldn’t help but cry the more.
Remi Sat down next to Nira, she looked pale. What have I done to my daughter?
“Nira sweetheart” he called “you really have to wake up.
Daddy is here baby.” he continued “we’ll go to all the fun places you want to go. we’ll have a father and daughter day like you always wanted. please baby don’t leave daddy is here
for you love” he added k!ss!ng her hair. A trace of tear slide down her cheek.
I opened my eyes slowly, I was crying. I felt the intense pain on my lower abd0men. I turned my face and I saw mom, she was with Nina as, always. I looked at dad, he was really crying.
“Daddy.” I called
“Baby you’re awake.”
“You were worried dad, have you been crying?”
“No love” he lied “daddy is Superman right?”
I managed a smile. I was really weak, I nodded slowly. I closed my eyes again, dad rushed to call the doctor. They were asked to leave the room. The doctor conducted some tests and concluded that I was OK but probably weak from the operation.
They were very happy that the operation was success. Later that day, i was fully awake and so was Nina. Mom and dad as well as aunt were taking care of us but I insisted on dad doing everything because I couldn’t stand the sight of mom.
“Let me clean you up baby” she offered
“Don’t bother, dad will do it. You should attend to Nina, she needs you more” I turned her down
“Baby”
“Please mom, I’ve saved your daughter so there’s nothing more to help you with. I’ve served my purpose but don’t touçh me”
“Nira honey…”
I cut her short “just go mom please cause your presence isn’t doing me any good”
Mom left with tears, I really didn’t care. She caused it and her fake tears won’t save her now and forever.
Dad came back and cleaned me up. He fed me some cereal cause the doctor said we shouldn’t take heavy food.
“Thanks dad” I said when he was done. I really didn’t pay attention to mom and Nina. I’ve chosen to completely ignore them.
Few days later, it was time to leave the hospital. We took our drugs from the doctor and dad drove us home.
“My two fairies are back” Aunt welcomed us warmly
“Thanks Emelia”
We smiled.
“I made dinner but it’s only for us grown ups so you guys can eat your cereal later or suçk on the fries”
We made disgusting faces.
“We love you aunt”
“Sounds like music to my ears”
“Oh aunt”
“Now that you guys are back, we’ll finally go out. I made matching silly outfits for all of us”
“Yay” Nina smiled
“So can we go inside now.” I pouted
“Sure sweetie.”
Mom tried to touçh me but I shifted back
“Dad, can you take me to my room?”
“Sure hun” he helped me climb the stairs to my room. Nina came up later with mom. Aunt read us bedtime stories. “the Princess and the pea”
When she was done, she k!ssed our hair, switched off the lights and left the room.
“So?”
“So… ” I asked
“Thanks Nira”
“I didn’t do it for you, I did it for my peace of mind and also… ”
“For mom?” she trailed after me
“Not at all but for myself”
“You love mom a lot”
“I hate her so much now.”
“But…
” Good night Nina.” I closed my eyes and tried to rethink. No I don’t love her, she doesn’t love me so why should I? mom should get ready to meet the new Nira cause we’re all going on a roller coaster ride and trust me, it’s gonna be scary….
I stood in front of the mirror in the bathroom. I could see the mark on my stomach that I suffered during the operation. It’s
been a week since the operation and the scar it left me was, still there. Deep within my soul and not just my body.It was a reminder that indeed I lost something. Mom was
trying to act all nice but it didn’t change the fact that Nina was her favorite. It didn’t change the fact that she doesn’t love me. With each passing moment, the hatred i felt for both of
them was already growing deeper and stronger than ever before.
I pulled my towel and got into the the tub. I turned on the shower letting the warm water pour on my skin. It felt like soothing massage to my body.
Aunt Emelia decided to take us out one last time before going back to New York. I came out and applied some on my body. I was looking for what to wear when aunt came inside.
“Hey Tinkerbell. What’re you doing?”
“Looking for a dress”
“Say no more, you know that silly matching outfit I told you about last time?”
“Yeah… ”
“Well… it just arrived” she brought out T-shi-ts from a shopping bag. All in different sizes, they were three in number. Two small
and one medium size, the words I’M A CRAZY SISTER WITH LOTS OF AUNTITUDE” were written on them.
“I’m not wearing that”
“Why hun. I spent money to make these, huge bucks to be precise”
“I’m not wearing matching outfit with Nina” I said plainly
“Oh come on, do you know how hard it was to come up with such name and it’s just a one day thing” she pleaded
I rolled my eyes “I can’t believe you spent money on that silly outfit”
“It’s silly, the name’s finally catching on” she smiled poking me
“Aunt Emelia.. . ”
“I’ll be going back to New York and you don’t wanna spend some time with me?”
“I would.. .
”And you will, let’s have a great Adventure. That’s for my next silly outfit, come on get dressed ”she cajoled me
“Ok I will, is mom and dad coming too?”
“Nope just us and some friends, now get dressed”
“Alright aunt” I took the shirt from her and she left the room. I wore it with Jeans shorts and a pair of snickers. I tied my hair into a ponytail and wore my earrings. Nina came to wear hers
too. She dressed exactly like me, from the hair to the shoes and it pissed me off. There should be a difference between the two of us so I loosened my hair and let it fall on my shoulder
and wore a headband. Satisfied with the look, I left to meet aunt downstairs, later Nina joined us.
“My two fairies are looking so cute.” Aunt smiled, she was wearing the same clothe as well.
“Remi I’m taking the kids out today” she said. mom and dad came down to see us.
“Wow look at my princesses” dad k!ssed our hair
“We’re leaving Maggie”
“Alright take care.” She hugged Nina. she wanted to do so to me but I shifted back and held aunt’s hand.
“Can we go now aunt?” I pleaded. I saw the hurt in mom’s eyes but I didn’t care.
“OK, bye guys. Cook dinner” aunt held our hands and we went to the garage. The driver drove us to the mall, where we shopped, to
the eatery, the movies and later to the park to have some fun with our Auntitude, the name sounds silly really.
Aunt bought us candy floss. We rode the roller coaster and the
choo choo train. I was also shocked to see my classmates there as well. Aunt invited them.
“You guys, what are you doing here?” Nina asked
“We bought these for Nira”
It was a bouquet of flowers and a banner written with glitter and glue. “world’s best sister”
“Wow, you guys shouldn’t have done all this?”
“We didn’t do all of it. Nina planned for everything” Mia said, I turned to look at her, she was smiling.
“Oh my little nugget” aunt held her in an embrace
“She came up with all the idea” Greg added
“Thanks Nina” I blurted out
“You deserve it sis” she smiled
“So who wants to ride the roller coaster one more time?” I asked
“The ride’s pretty scary” Debbie shrugged
“But it’s fun, last one there is a rotten egg” John screamed. We ran towards the roller coaster, aunt trailed behind us.
“Girls be careful” she screamed
“Yes aunt”
we rode the coaster till we were dizzy, later in the evening, we went home.
Aunt bought us ice cream on our way back.
“How was your day”
“It was epic” Nina screamed
“We went to all the fun places we could think of”
“And you Nira?” mom asked
“Ok I guess”
“Alright go freshen up and come down for dinner” dad said
And we nodded running up to our room.
“How was it Emelia” I overheard dad asking
“So far so good, I felt like a child” she said and they all giggled
“I’ll set the table”
“Iet me help you out”
“Thanks Emelia”
“welcome”
I undressed and had my shower, so they planned everything. So Nina and I could be with each other for a whole day, I knew it. But today was a good say cause everyone made me feel really special and it was fun just being in the spotlight and getting noticed for once.
I changed into my pajamas and went downstairs with Nina.
We finished eating and went upstairs. Aunt came to tuck us in as usual. She’s been doing that since this week and it was awesome. She read us bedtime stories, k!ssed our hair and
switched off the light.
“Good night fairies” she whispered before closing the door.. ..
