THE EVIL TEDDY Episode 8 – The Mystery Man
Lilley had been waiting outside the her class waiting for Gideon , he was no where to be found , she wondered why she had not seen him the whole morning.
She was so worried about Gideon’s welfare,that she began asking his classmates about him .
“Uhmm I’ve not seen Gideon today , why not go and ask Miss Mildred , she’s our form teacher , she would know why Gideon didn’t come to school .” A tall and slender girl who spoke in British accent said to Lilley when she stopped her . “Thank you Ashley, let me go and see Mrs Mildred .” Lilley said as she descended the staircase , she descended the stairs of the first floor . Lilley walked pass five closed classes , before stepping into Gideon’s class . Miss Mildred was sitting on her desk, in front of her laptop, preparing her lesson plan .
”Good day ma , my name is Lilley Abbey , am in Basic five A, I am looking for my friend Gideon , I didn’t see him at the cafeteria, could his parents have called to say he would be staying away from school today ?” Lilley asked glaring at Miss Mildred .
“No Lilley they didn’t call . Now that you’ve mentioned it let me call him, I’ve not seen him today .”Mildred got out her phone and dialed Gideon’s mother’s phone , the phone rang for over five times,nobody answered the call .
She kept calling until a female voice picked the call . “Who is this please ?” A trembling high pitched voice of Gideon mum asked . “God day ma , my name is Mildred Okonkwo , your son was not in school today , I am calling to know if his fine .” The voice of Gideon mum crying covered what she said , she hung up the call , Mildred called over and over the number was dead
She turned to Lilley . “Don’t bother yourself, Gideon is fine , he just decided to take the day off.” Lilley was not convinced,but she lagged out of the class.
The whole day in school was so Greg for Lilley , she couldn’t understand why he would choose to skip school .
Jessica saw the gloom over her daughter ,her cheerful looks she had maintained for a month had suddenly disappeared , she grumpily climbed into the SUV after embracing her mother .
“What’s wrong baby ?” Jessica said glaring at her daughter’s face . “Mum Giddy didn’t show up to school today , I am so crossed at him , school was so boring today .”Lilley said , Jessica laughed .
“My daughter has found a husband .” Jessica teased her daughter. “Mum he’s not my husband , mummy be an adult and stop Messing with me .” Lilley spoke like a person fifty years older her actual age .
”Okay mum I won’t laugh again .” Jessica teased her daughter , Lilley was not buying it .
Martha was busy arranging the house, she had gone to her room to grab more detergents , when suddenly she felt a cold breeze slap against her skin, she turned suddenly, but couldn’t see anyone , she fearfully checked all directions , she thought she was day dreaming.
The light in her room went off , when it flicker she could see Eddie standing at her doorway , with a sinister smirk on its face ,when the light became steady again , Eddie was no longer there , she held her chest and was breathing heavily .
Eddie lay by the side of her bed, she was frozen , so she grabbed the giant Teddy and dragged it to Lilley’s room .”Lilley what was your Teddy doing in my room ? If you don’t want me to cut it’s neck off don’t ever come to my room! can you hear me? Never in this life of yours try that mess again!” She hauled the Teddy at Lilley, she wanted to tell Martha she didn’t take the stuffed bear into her room .
The next day ,Martha got to her room only to discover the Teddy bear was sitting on her bed ,like a the owner of the house .
“Jesus! This stupid doll why can’t you let me be!” she yelled at the Teddy as if it could hear her, the Teddy sat looking at her with placid eyes, Martha picked it from her bed and slammed it against the floor .
”If they sent you to me , go and tell them you didn’t see me .” she dragged the Teddy bear on the ground , holding only one hand the whole body dragged , following Martha , she opened Lilley’s door and flung the bear in .
When she returned to her room , she saw Eddie sitting on her bed , in fear Martha ran to the kitchen to tell the chefs , they laughed at her for being so melodramatic,wondering how an ordinary Teddy could do all Martha said it did .
She wished to leave the house that very evening, she just couldn’t disappoint Mrs Jessica , so she lied to her that her mother was critically sick and in intensive Care unit,meanwhile she was escaping, she gathered some of get belongings and escaped from the house.
The blonde girl, wearing a white blood stained gown,followed the window , it followed Martha to her house in a suburb five rooms . She had built that house from her salary and allowances the Nanny job .
Her parents were so happy to see her,they talked for so long till about ten P.M when her parents went to bed , Martha decided to make tea , from the big tin of beverage Mrs Jessica was given to her to take care of her sick mother.
When she was done with her late meal , she went to the kitchen to rinse the cup and spoon , when she came face to face with Eddie, it was hard to believe what she was seeing , Eddie was holding a very sharp knife on it’s right hand .
Martha was frozen , she couldn’t speak , she couldn’t run, the Teddy had burst open the kitchen window, shattering the glasses ,Martha snapped out of the hypnotic spell. she began to run ,Eddie jumped on her back , and began to stab her severally on her back .
Martha fought hard to stay alive but the Teddy kept stabbing her with the knife the whole floor was covered with blood . “Please Eddie don’t kill me , I am… the … Bread …winner for my family .” Martha begged , Eddie laughed .
“My Name is not Eddie, My name is Camila,I’ll tell you the story of my life , before you die . ” Eddie said laughing. “Don’t waist your tears , it doesn’t move me , don’t die yet please hear my story .” Eddie said .
“So we lived in a farm house Michigan , my father , myself and my sister and my mother , we had houses and farms .” Camila said while waiting for Martha to choke on her blood .
“So one day the horse kicked mum in the head , the doctors tried their best, but mum died , but before she died , asked me to take care and protect my
younger of Karen my kid sister ,later I got to know from who , could you believe my father was the house that kicked mama in the head ?” She asked the dying girl .
“When mom died , dad was free from his chains , he began to abuse Karen and myself ,I would talk to my Teddy which mum has gotten for me , I failed , I didn’t protect Karen , he killed her and buried her in the farm . Then turned to me , he abused me until i couldn’t walk, he refused to take me to the hospital, I died cold and alone .”Eddie said ,said pacing about the kitchen.
“But I entered into my Teddy and I killed the man in his sleep , I stabbed him severally. ” it paused to open Martha’s eyes . “I’ve been around for one hundred and fifty years , I love possessing Teddies , they are my permanent residence .” Eddie said With a smile and bent down near Martha’s face until it could feel her shallow dying breathe on his face . “Well you Martha you’re wicked just like him ,I regret not following Paula to her house , she escaped my sharp claws .” It laughed .
“But you Martha I’ll watch you take your last breathe, you tied me up in a nylon , you have to die .You dragged me on the floor , did you think I’ll let you go ?” Eddie laughed .”I’ll watch you die as I watched my father and some bullies I met in the pass die .”
Eddie watched until Martha , took her final breathe , before it walked out of the blood covered kitchen. A loud cry from the kitchen
Made them all run to go and see what had happened from the previous night.
“Who did this to my baby.”Martha mum cried rolling on the ground . They kept wondering who could have done the heinous act. Martha’s body was wrapped in her mother’s wrapper , and it was deposited at the Gwarinpa Hospital morgue . Her family strived to find answers, but answers eluded them , nobody knew who killed Martha.
