THE EVIL TEDDY Episode 5 – The Mystery Man

Resumption of school after the lock down brought Lilley a new fortune , the school was reopened after the one month investigation, Mrs Melinda was released from police detention , two of the four security men arrested were released .

The kids missed school, they had been having their classes online , via zoom on the or pads . Lilley found that her class mates were exchanging pleasantries with her ,for years she had become an islander, after the first day she crossed Princess Shirley .

She was walking with other of her classmates toward the Cafeteria, she heard a boy call her name , it was an unfamiliar voice , so she turned to see who it was . It was the smiling face of Gideon, he ran up Lilley , his sky blue shirt , and navy blue shorts were well starched, a red and blue neck tie dangled around his neck .

“How are you doing Lilley ?” He said walking beside her .

“Am good , how was your night ?” Lilley asked still looking straight ahead . “Am fine how was the vacation ?” He asked .

“Oh you mean the lock down ?” Lilley asked and he nodded . “It was boring my nanny left.” Lilley said.

“Sorry about that , what happened? why did she leave ?” Gideon asked Lilley . “Well maybe I was a naughty girl .” Lilley said calmly .

“Lilley maybe she just wanted to go , you don’t appear like a naughty girl to me.” Gideon said , Lilley smiled , they want to the chef counter , two tray pans of colored rice and chicken with small juice pack were in the tray , with lot’s of sliced fruit and vegetables. the spoons of the pupils clang against their ceramic plates.

“Can we hang out during short break ?” Gideon asked , a smile curved around Lilley’s lips . “Why not ?” She asked as they both walked with their empty plates to hand over to the dish washers .

Gideon waved at before he went into his class which was downstairs , Lilley was so happy , she couldn’t wait to tell Eddie and Bestie about her new friend .

Lilley was so cheerful when Jessica stopped by to pick her after school . “Mummy mummy I made a new friend today , he was nice to me .” Lilley said joyfully, Jessica bent slightly holding her daughter close to her chest .

“Really tell me about this boy .” Jessica said . “But first let’s get to the car , I also have a good news for you too .” Jessica said with a big grin on her beautiful brown face .

“Mummy you go first tell me this good news , I want to hear , I know it’s bigger than. my news .” Lilley said . “Lilley how are you doing ?” Innocent the driver said .

“Good afternoon Mr Innocent , I hope you had a nice day?” Lilley said , Innocent held the door open for Jessica and her daughter. they both climbed into the back side of the Tacoma four wheel drive truck .

“So what happened in school today ?” Jessica asked with a soft charming smile on her face , that made Lilley feel she could tell her anything .

“So mum Gideon was calling out my name while I was making my way with my classmates to the cafeteria.” Lilley said with a delightful smile . “Nobody had asked me to sit with them during lunch ,since Susan’s parents moved her to America,mum Gideon was so polite , we played together during break time,I think he’s going to be my new Friend.” Lilley said ,Jessica was so delighted her daughter was coming out of the shell the bullies had put her .

“Wow my baby has a boyfriend.” Jessica teased her daughter in the car , Innocent smiled from one part of his lips
“Mummy what’s a boyfriend? Okay like husband and wife ?’ Lilley asked, her mum just kept laughing .

“Well he’s just my friend.”

“Well be nice to him,I am happy you now have a friend.” Jessica said . Martha had developed a strong phobia for Lilley’s room , she took the job of a nanny pending when the agency would send a new hand for Lilley .

Jessica begged her to be bathing and dressing Lilley , she added twenty thousand naira to her salary , which was one hundred and twenty Thousand naira , to one forty .
Martha was arranging Lilley’s room , when the light was switched off .

“Lilley stop this play! I am not Paula , am not joking with you .” She warned thinking it was Lilley , she couldn’t see the red eyes of the Teddy staring at her in the dark .

”What are you doing Lilley ? I said turn on the light!” Martha screamed, she didn’t hear any Response, she walked slowly to the side of the house where the light switch was , she turned it on . She went downstairs to Report Lilley to her mum for the annoying prank she pulled .

“Martha are you okay ?” Jessica asked her house help .Lilley was also on the dinning table eating , Martha stared at Lilley angrily . “Am talking to you Martha why are you here ?” Jessica asked.

“Ma after Lilley finished bathing and dressing I asked her to come downstairs to join you at the dinner table . Ma Lilley went up and was switching off the light in her room , Ma I don’t like such pranks , I don’t have patience .” Martha alleged , Lilley was dumbfounded and was completely bamboozled.

“Mum I didn’t go to the room . Have I not been down here eating?” Lilley asked her mother to stand as an alibi. “But Martha , Lilley has been here battling with her food , she didn’t go up .”Jessica said , Martha kept staring at Lilley as age climbed the steps not believing what her boss said , she went into the room and continued with her work .

She felt somebody was standing behind her , breathing on her beck , she turned swiftly around to see the person , but there was no one to be seen . She bent down to clean the under of the bed , when she felt a a soft object touched her buttocks , she threw it off angrily, when she turned to what it was Eddie, she angrily flung it to the ground and kicked it away . “You stupid doll! You scared the crap out of me .” She got a big trash bag and forced Eddie into it , and tied up , before forcing the big stuff toy into a big trash basket , she hissed and went about her business.

Lilley went into her room , she couldn’t find Eddie on the bed , she searched everywhere, but couldn’t find Eddie .Lilley ran downstairs crying . “Mummy I left Eddie on my bed , I went back there now he’s gone .” Lilley said weeping .

“Stop crying you must have dropped it somewhere else and you can’t remember .” Jessica said ,trying to get her daughter to leave her alone . “No mummy Eddie was on the bed am sure , mummy Martha has carried him to punish me .” Lilley said still crying , that made lot IG sense to Jessica so she agreed to follow Lilley to her room , to find the Teddy .

They found the Teddy tied in a big nylon , and starched in a trash basket , Jessica was infuriated, she called out to Martha , who had just finished taking her bath, she rushed to Lilley’s room .

“Ma you called me .” Martha said standing at attention with a beating heart .she could see anger in eyes . “Martha why would you be so petty ? starching Lilley’s stuff toy in the trash bag , and then put it in the trash bin ,before hiding it . Didn’t I told you Lilley didn’t leave the dinning table ? You know she eats like a tortoise or a snail .” Jessica said .

“Ma it’s true I was the one who tied it in that nylon , but I didn’t do it because of i wanted to get back at Lilley , I think this Teddy is possessed , the way I felt when I came into the room …” Martha said , Jessica bursted into laughter .

“Can you hear yourself ?” Jessica said . “Ma am serious , this Teddy is the reason why …” She decided not to complete her statement .

“The Teddy is the reason for what Martha ?” She asked.”Ma for nothing ,but this Teddy has negative energy.”Martha said .

“You’re just being superstitious . Those things only happen in movies .” Jessica said .”Please don’t hide Lilley’s toy again .” Martha slightly bowed and hurried away from the room .

“Baby let’s pray , so you can go to bed .” Jessica said to Lilley ,they both knelt by the bed and said a short prayer before she left , she instructed Lilley to go to bed, but she had gist for Eddie .

“Hello Eddie , if you can hear please don’t mind aunt Martha for putting you in a trash bag . I’ve a gist for you , today I made friend in school , his name is Gideon , he’s in same class with me , not in my own class , he has his own class , but we will leave elementary school together.” Lilley said , in the dark , Lilley kept yelping .

“He bought ice cream for me at school mum said he’s my boyfriend, what’s a boyfriend?” Lilley asked . “Never mind you’re just my Teddy you can’t speak , I told mum Gideon wasn’t my boyfriend.” It was so dark , Lilley couldn’t see the anger plastered on Eddie’s face , the stuff toy had swollen up with anger almost exploding , Eddie didn’t want Lilly to have anyone closer to her than Eddie himself . It couldn’t stand a rival .
