THE EVIL TEDDY Episode 18 – The Mystery Man

Lilley was almost in her room when she forgot she had not taken her towel from the pool side she went back to pick the towel ,Betty saw her coming , she swam near Lilley’s towel , she pushed water with her palm towards Lilley .

“What’s wrong with you Betty ? you’re looking for my trouble o!” Lilley yelled at her cousin , senator Boniface raised his head and looked at his granddaughters , he couldn’t understand why those two could never settle , they were always at loggerhead. “Nyeeen nyeeen yeeen yeeen !” Betty mimicked Lilley talking as she did ,she teased her, making funny faces , she floated in the water , the night had began to get dark , but the big bulbs lighted up the compound , it was like day while outside was charcoal black .

Rose had gone to the back of the house to get some pieces of chicken that her chef had barbecued on the grill ,she saw Betty inside the water swimming . “Betty it’s getting late come out of the water please, go and dry yourself up .” She said while walking towards the shade were the senator was sitting with friends smoking Cuban cigars, drinking spirits and red wine with his friends .

“Yes grandma .” Betty said , just when she was climbing the steps that led out of the pool, there was a loud explosion outside the compound ,at the transformer , the whole street was thrown into darkness ,Betty felt an entity coming out of the water , it was so dark she couldn’t see what it was or who it was , the automatic generator turned on white light bathed the compound .

It was so close to her , it was wearing a white gown , with golden blonde hair that glued to her scalp , her eyes socket were sunken ,she couldn’t even see her eyes , her skin was pale white , she knew she wasn’t supposed to be there , Betty opened her mouth to scream , the sinister entity grabbed her and sank her to the bottom of the water , she fought and kicked , the more she fought and screamed,water entered her nose and mouth , it was so hot like hot water was poured into her brain when the water got into her head .

She struggled to break free but the bony entity was so strong much stronger than she looked , she dragged Betty to the side of the pool and smashed her head repeatedly against the tiled walls , Betty struggled to get away she couldn’t, the entity hit her head repeatedly, until she became to week to fight , the water That was bubbling around her seized when was out of oxygen.

The entity walked out of water through the step , she walked into the house and disappeared.

Betty sank to the bottom of the pool , blood began to cover the water surface like ink poured in a stagnant water , the lights inside the pool made it so visible that something was wrong , soon the whole blue surface of the pool was covered in blood.

Rose was going to get another tray of roasted chicken when she saw the bloody water , she paused and the tray fell from her hand to the concrete interlocked ground , she was speechless, she pointed at the water holding her chest , she thought she had a stroke ,her husband got up and rushed to the poolside .

“Somebody get in there and get me my grandchild !” Senator Boniface screamed , Betty was resting at the bottom of the water , two police men jumped into the water and brought out the girl , Lilley and Derrick had heard the scream from the sitting room where they sat to watch a program on the television, they rushed out to see the men bring Betty out , she was still bleeding from her forehead .

The men tried to do CPR while the car was being made ready , Betty was put in an SUV Rose jumped in with her , her husband entered the vehicle, they drove at top to Asokoro hospital, were Betty was confirmed dead on arrival , the senator was too stunned to speak, Rose cried her eyes out , she didn’t know what she would say to her grieving son who had just lost his wife barely two years .

“Nooooo God! Noooo! Nooo! this cannot happen! Noooo!” The senator said screaming like a mentally deranged man , he plopped down on the hospital bench , his DSS detail tried to console him , he squeezed his shirt in his arms . “Go away! I don’t want to talk to anyone right now!” He barked, he sat in shock, he wondered what had happened, the doctors said she had a fractured skull from blunt trauma to the head , he wondered how that could have happened , he left to the car after his security men had doposited her corpse in the mortuary, he sauntered to the front of the hospital where Rose was sitted inside the car and was crying her eyes out , they were driven home in total silence , the whole house was thrown into mourning when they returned with an information on Betty’s death .

The senator had to place a call to his son in the USA , while sipping a bottle of dry gin . “Hello George how are you doing ?” said to his son .

“Am fine dad , how is mum and the kids .” George said , the senator found it very hard to speak , saliva had clogged his throat , he was silent for such a long time . “George am sorry to tell you this son …” George didn’t let his father land .

“Tell me what dad ?” George asked his dad . “We lost Betty this evening .” Senator Boniface said , his son began to weep on the phone . “Tell me you’re joking dad? how can she die ? how dad ! no now! just holiday ? ” He asked weeping .

“Am sorry son she was just in the swimming pool swimming the next minute she was dead . She hit her head against the tile floor .” The senator explained .”Am finished dad , how many people am I gonna lost in a year. Dad am focked up. I just wanted them to come and see you guys and now this ?” He broke down on the phone , the senator couldn’t hold back the tears it poured like rain from his eyes.

George travelled to Nigeria with his eldest daughter, Betty was buried in Apo Cemetery, and they returned back to America same day , Lilley knew she was being blamed for her cousin’s demise , two weeks after the burial Lilley was moved to the boarding house . She knew Eddie did it , she asked the Teddy it refused to respond playing dead .

when Lilley left for school all hell broke loss , Teddy began with the chefs , it would switch off the light in the building , they would see only two red eyes walking towards them , and soon it would begin to beat them up , the men couldn’t tell what it was , they began to avoid the main house in the night .

Rose was in the bathroom taking her bath , she lay in the foamy bathtub , allowing the warm water to soak into her skin , when she was pushed into the water by a lean and bony figure , it held her down as she struggled to breath she gulped in soapy water , she tried to scream the pale white ghost wouldn’t let her , just when she thought she would pass out the entity let her go , she sat on the bathtub to catch her breath .

Just then the light in the bathroom and master bedroom went off , she saw what looked like Lilley’s teddy , it stood there staring at her with red eyes for a second before it walked away . She wiped her body with a towel , then threw a bathrobe over herself , she went to the sitting room where her husband was working on his iPad .

“Honey I was attacked in the bathroom .” Said looking terrified . “Attacked by who ?” Senator Boniface asked .

“I think it’s the Teddy .” She whispered maybe trying so hard for the Teddy not hear her . “For the love of God Rose put yourself together, how can you think a common teddy would attack you ?” He said she sat beside him . “I was relaxing in the bathtub when a force pushed deep into the foamy water , for a minute I thought I was dead . But then it let me go , when I got out of the bathtub the light tripped off , when I was trying to put it back on , I saw the Teddy bear glaring at me with red eyes like car break light .” She said , the senator didn’t believe her for one minute .

“Let’s go and check the CCTV footage am tired of all your day dreaming .” He said they went to the bedroom and checked the CCTV camera Eddie didn’t show where Rose had seen him .

“You see Rose it’s in your head , nothing happened.” The senator said , Rose was sure of what she saw she just stopped the argument and went to sleep .

A few weeks later the senator was up late in the night , doing some work on his laptop when he heard a voice behind him , he spun around so fast to catch whoever the man was , but there was none behind him .

“You have to bring Lilley to home , or else I’ll kill you all!” the stern voice said , he got up and checked around his couch to see if somebody was playing a prank on him , when he got back to sit and continue his work , a wind like a tornado blew his laptop off the stool and slammed it against the wall , the glass of water that was placed on the table was spun into the air it landed on a wall and broke into a thousand pieces , the light in the whole house began to flicker , the senator jumped from his sit , the table moved with full force and knocked him over , he fell on the ground and let out a loud scream , but nobody heard him , from the fairly lighted staircase he saw Eddie walking down to him , his eyes were burning bright .

“Why did you take Lilley away from me?” He asked the senator , he was confused he couldn’t believe what his grandchild had been saying was the truth . He got up and tried to run up the stairs a picture frame flew at the speed of a supersonic bomb and hit him at the back of his head .

“Somebody help me ! somebody help me !” the bleeding man cried , the Teddy grabbed his leg and slammed his body against the wall , his bones snapped and made a cracking sound . “Cry all you want nobody can hear you , I am going to end here today !” it hissed ,with one hand the Teddy grabbed the senator to the kitchen ,it got a sharp knife from the table , it began to Stab the senator as he screamed , he was horrified , the Teddy chased after him and knocked him to the floor , it stabbed him multiple times on his back and finally in his eyes , it was about stabbing him the ninth time , when it heard footsteps coming that it ran out of the house through the back kitchen door .
