So This is Love? Episode 2 – Judith Onyoyibo
I had to travel home because my mom was seriously sick and needed to be tended to.
I pleaded with my boyfriend to allow me go stay with my sick mom. He was hesitant at first but after much plea, he allowed me travel.
“Don’t spend more than a week there”. My boyfriend said.
“Are you missing me already?”. I asked as I placed my arms around his neck while seated on his laps.
“How will I cope without you. If not for one thing, I wouldn’t have allowed you go sef”. He said.
“Thank you baby for granting me the permission to go. I will come as soon as possible”.
He planted a warm kiss in my mouth. I felt so loved and wanted by him.
“My baby can’t do without me”.
The next morning, I travelled to Auchi to go see my mom.
She was in a critical condition. It got so bad that we had to rush her to the hospital the next morning.
The doctor said she was down with severe high fever and typhoid.
She was admitted in the hospital and spent over five days there before she got discharged.
I was so stressed with everything. Watching my mom lying down weak like a vegetable really broke my heart.
The one week ultimatum my boyfriend gave me elapsed. I couldn’t just leave my mom alone just like that.
I called my boyfriend and told him I will have to spend an additional week at my mother’s.
He was so infuriated. He told me all manner of things of how I always go back at my words.
All my pleas and explanations fell on deaf ears.
I stayed an additional one week with my mom.
He stopped taking my calls. At a point, he blocked me. I was so depressed. I even fell sick.
Unable to take it, I had to lie to my mom that I had an emergency situation to attend to in Lagos. Thank goodness, she was already getting better.
I traveled down to Lagos the next morning. I got home really late, around 7pm because of the intense traffic.
My boyfriend wasn’t home. I opened the door and went in.
The house was in total disarray. Everything was turned upside down.
I started cleaning immediately I dropped my bag.
When I was cleaning the bedroom, I saw a torn packet of cóndōm in the waste bin. I was flabbergasted. My legs suddenly became too weak to carry the weight of my body. I quickly sat on the bed to avoid falling to the ground.
“How? When? Why?”. These questions kept on lingering in my head.
Not long after, my boyfriend walked in. I was still holding the pack of CD.
He was shocked at first when he saw me holding it but quickly maintained his cool.
“How did you find it?”. He asked without looking at me.
“Is that what you have to say?”. I asked sternly.
He went on his knees immediately.
“Baby I’m sorry. I couldn’t hold myself. She doesn’t mean a thing to me, I swear”. He pleaded.
“Just two weeks! You couldn’t hold yourself for just two weeks!”. I said crying.
“I was so mad at you for failing to keep to our agreement. I wanted to get back at you. If you didn’t stay away for too long, I wouldn’t have done that “. He said.
“Are you saying it’s my fault? Are you really blaming me for what you did?”. I asked with tears.
“No baby, it’s the devil. I will never try it again. I promise to be a better person for you! For us! We’ve come a long way to just end the beautiful love we share over a slüt who don’t mean a shît to me. Baby let’s get married already. Assuming we were married, this wouldn’t have happened “. He said.
“Are you proposing to me?”. I asked as I gently wiped the tears from my eyes.
“Yes baby. Be my wife”. My boyfriend popped the question.
“Yes! Yes! Yes! I will be your wife”. I said excitedly.
“Because I don’t have a ring now, let me send you something to seal this engagement”. My boyfriend said.
He brought out his phone and made a transfer to me.
“Tuuum!”. My phone chimed.
Lo and behold, I received an alert of 250k from my baby 
.
I jumped on him excitedly.
I brought out my my phone and video called my friends. It was a group WhatsApp video call.
“Guess who just got engaged”. I said excitedly to their surprise.
“Meeee! We have a wedding to plan gurlllss”
