Pinto The Jungle Girl.
Last Episode.
…The King immediately turned to his daughter, Princess Annabel.
“I don’t understand what you brought her here to do cos, this isn’t looking like a joke. Or, is it?” He questioned in a very serious tone.
I was still there on my knees, already shivering. I checked both sides to see if the diamond had slipped down from the box but how possible could that be? I even bent over to check under the couches but found nothing.
“What kind of an expensive joke is this?” I asked myself, and then turned to Princess Annabel.
“Did you… I’m sorry but, did you by any chance open the box before we came? I’m not saying you took it but, I’m just confused” I said while tears made their way down my cheeks.
“No Pinto, I didn’t” She said.
“Are you sure that the diamond has been in this box?” Asked Diana.
“Yes, it has. I’ve been keeping it safe for years now” I said, still shivering.
“I even saw it with my very eyes cos I was the one who recovered it from her father, and the diamond has been safely kept in my house all this while. So, I do not understand why it has suddenly gone missing, even without it’s box” Said Princess Annabel.
“Rise, get up” Said the King with his face aside.
“I’m so confused” I said.
“I hope it’s not what I’m thinking? ” Said Princess Annabel with a finger on her chin.
“What are you thinking?” Asked the King.
“Never mind” She said and immediately stood up.
“Let’s go” She said to me, and then walked out.
I stood up with both hands held together before me and with head bowed.
“Your Highness, I beg to take my leave” I said.
“Well, you’re free. See you some other time. I hope you find it” He said, leaning on the couch while Diana stood there dumbfounded with the cooking spoon in her right hand.
I rushed out to Annabel, and we both sat in the car.
“I’m… So sorry” I said wiping a tear.
“For what?” She said looking at me.
“It’s not your fault Pinto, lets just pray we find it” She said.
We arrived home, and I went straight into my room without a word and then threw myself on the bed wondering how possible it was for the diamond to go missing just like that, here in Princess Annabel’s house. And all of a sudden, I heard footsteps, followed by a scream, and then a gun sh0t. I froze at first, and then rushed into Princess Annabel’s room after a few seconds but she wasn’t there. I opened the kitchen door, and then the store but I didn’t find her. My heart started to pound faster and faster, went back into the kitchen and then grabbed a frying pan. I tiptoed to the entrance door, gently turned the handle, looked left and right and then I managed to open my mouth, holding the pan in the air with both hands in a very tight grip.
“Princess Annabel… ” I called in a very low tone, and then paused to see if I would hear a response but I heard none.
“Princess Annabel…” I called again but still no response.
I tiptoed out, went to the direction where I had heard the gunsh0t, and all of a sudden, I threw the pan I was holding aside.
“Princess Annabel!” I called in exclamation, and then rushed to her. She was lying face down with her head bleed!ng profusely and with a p!st0l lying beside her. Immediately, tears welled up my eyes.
“What happened to you?” I asked, but she only managed to open her already closed eyes halfway, and then pointed before me. I looked up, and lo and behold I saw a man lying face down right before the fence. My heart skipped, and I looked down at the Princess.
“Who is he?” I asked.
She pointed at her pocket, and I immediately dipped my hand into it and I brought out her phone. She turned, and then managed to open her mouth.
“Call… Sarah” She said.
I looked at the phone, didn’t even know where to tap. In fact, that was the first time in my life I was holding a phone.
“But,… I don’t even know how to use it” I said.
“Put it… in… my palm” She managed to say again, panting, and I did so.
“Sorry” I said sobbing.

I raised her head not minding the bl00d, and she dialed the person’s number. As soon as she picked, she asked me to speak.
“Good day Madam” I said.
“Who is this? Where’s the owner of this phone?” She questioned.
“She’s here, but !njured. Please help us” I said in between sobs.
“I don’t understand. Where are you both?” The lady over the phone quizzed.
“In her house” I said, and she ended the call immediately.
I was there with her head to my chest, my heart couldn’t stop pounding and at the same time, I was praying earnestly to God to still keep the other guy unconscious.
After a few minutes, the lady arrived with two other guys, all in uniform. She rushed to us, and while carrying Princess Annabel singlehandedly in her arms like a baby, she then asked me.
“What happened?”
“I don’t know” I said, and then pointed at the guy close to the fence.
The men rushed to him, and the lady carried Princess Annabel into the car and immediately drove off. All of a sudden, one of the men exclaimed.
“What? A diamond?!”
As soon as I heard that, I sprinted to them. I jumped up seeing it and then fell on my knees. And then, my eyes went straight to the face of the guy lying down. He was bleed!ng from his forehead with a bul!et stuck in it, and with a plank beside him. I looked closely again, it was the guy who had k!dnapped me from the jungle, the one who took me to Dad’s office. I was going to scream but I immediately covered my mouth. It happened that, he sneaked into the house that day before we left and we unknowingly locked him in.
Well, the diamond was recovered, and was presented to the King. Princess Annabel built her father the King a palace in the same village, and few of those who once made it out alive many years ago returned, while new people also came there to settle.
I returned to the jungle a year later even though the King persuaded me to stay back but I refused. I was escorted back to the jungle by Princess Annabel and some palace guards after I had given up on finding Joe. To my surprise, the jungle house was still looking very ok with it’s surroundings very neat, just the way I left it. I was so surprised, and was looking around when I suddenly heard my name from afar. Lo and behold, it was Joe running to me.
“Joe!” I exclaimed.
“What?!” Said shocked Princess Annabel.
I ran to him, and we both held each other in a tight embrace.
“Where have you been?” He questioned dropping a tear.
“I have been looking for you” He added.
“What?” I asked.
“No, I have been the one looking for you. The men who took you later came for me, and I was taken away to Dad. He was behind it” I said.
“I know” He replied.
“After I was taken away by the Indians, I dived into the sea and escaped on our way to their place, and I found my way back home. I’ve been here for a year thinking about you all day and night” He said.
“Are you kidding me?” I quizzed with popped eyes and he shook his head.
I wiped my tears, saving the remaining gists till we were both left alone.
“Come” I said grabbing his hand, and I took him to the Princess.
“Meet Princess Annabel, the daughter of the King of the village we fled from” I said with a smile and he fell on his knees.
Princess Annabel and the men later left, and Joe and I went in to talk about how we’ve both missed each other. But Princess Annabel never stopped visiting, and after another year, I was given a title in the Palace. I was asked to relocate to the village but no, I prefer living the jungle life.
