LASGIDY LINKS Episode 8 by Adewrites

Staring at the picture got me carried away, I zoomed every part of it and read the caption many times, I got carried away.

Bukola stared at me quizzically, she asked if everything was okay but got no response from me, she tapped me and exclaimed.

“Yemi, what the hell is wrong with you, I’m here and you got carried away, what the hell?” She yelled

“Bukola, you need to understand me, i understand how you feel about me but i am not sure I am ready for any relationship now and i don’t want to play with your emotions” I sat down and explained further.

“I know where I am coming from and I know where I am going to, its just few month on this job and you can see loads of tasks on me already, i need to deliver, this could be the opportunity to proof myself, I don’t want any form of distraction, I am so sorry Bukola” i pleaded.

Tears were already rolling down her cheeks with her face down, she sobbed, I felt for her, honestly, Bukola was a kind of lady every guy would want, she was the prettiest lady in the ministry and she do gist me how guys within and outside the ministry would want to flirt with her, she’s caring, understanding with good behaviour but the tasks ahead of me won’t allow me to involve myself in any serious relationship now because that was what she was driving at.

I held her hands. “Bukola, you are such a wonderful lady and any man would want to have you….”

“Do you love me?” She suddenly cut in.

She raised her head and looked into my eyes. “Yemi, Do you love me?” I starred and stuttered. “I I I …..,”

I couldn’t complete any statement because I wasn’t sure of what to say.

“It’s ok, since you don’t have anything to say”, she brought out a tissue paper from her bag and wiped her tears gently so as not to affect her makeup.

“I will wait for you at the park after work”. She stood up, carried her bag and left.

I was dumbfounded, I wallowed in my thought for some minutes, before I left for my office, I was so disturbed and worried about how she was feeling, she deserves better but i didn’t want any form of distraction. I got to the office and met Bimbo at the entrance.

Where have you been?” She queried.

I ignored her and went straight to my office. She noticed my reaction and the mood written all over me which was so unusual. She followed me to my office, sat beside me and placed her right hand on my shoulder. “Yemi, are you ok?”

Wow, engineer has suddenly disappeared from my name because of the pictures she sent to me?

“Yes i am” I replied.

“You don’t seem ok, you were not like this in the morning and you were not like this when you were leaving this office this afternoon, so, don’t tell me you are ok”, she lamented

I sighed.

” I don’t even know what to tag it to and I don’t know how to explain it, but I will be fine, trust me” I replied.

Hope its not on the job?” She asked curiously.

I smiled. “no it’s not”

“I don’t like your mood right now, is there anything I can do to drive you out of this mood?”

I promise you that I’ll be fine”

“Come and have a hug” She pulled me up and gave me a tight hug, the succulence of her body relieved my pressure and the emotional stress, she held me tight and rubbed my back.

I sighed… Thank you

” I saw what you sent to me, what are your intentions? ” I asked.

She walked to the door, she opened it and had one of her legs out.

“Dont you like what you see? If you don’t, I just sent you another one with better view, don’t get too hard because I am not the quickie type” she said and shut the door.

I rushed to my phone to see what she sent. Alas, it was her naked bosoms without bra, she shot it from underneath without her face showing. They were beg, firm and ripe. She was right when she said I shouldn’t get hard. I got really hard.

“Who is this lady? Is this a set up or what? I pondered.

The anticipated Saturday crawled in like a snake, I had displayed in different kind of outfit in front of my mirror, I also displayed different attitudes to portray when I get to the party. I finally went for Bukola’s suggestion as her voice echoed in my brain.

” Dress in a suit without a tie and wear a nice perfume, remember to be yourself”.

I adjusted myself immediately and brought out my black TM Lewin suit, Luis Vuitton brown belt, Tom Ford perfume, Terry Murglar brown shoes, and Police wrist watch.

I couldn’t afford to dress to such occasion cheaply because i never can tell who i might meet there. And if one thing would demoralize me in a day or make me feel inferior, its going to be that I don’t like the way I dress.

I picked my phone to call Bukola to ask how she was feeling because she complained she wasn’t feeling too fine on our way home the previous day, she didn’t pick up, so i left for the bathroom to have my bathe, i freshened up and dress cutely, I wore my perfume and my Lamborghini shades, I ordered for Uber and Taxify at the same time, its first come first serve, I cannot let one car delay my trip and spoil my mood for the day, Uber showed up first, it was a Wine colour corolla sport, I loved the colour and hopped in, straight to Magodo Shangisha.

We got to the venue in little or no time because the traffic at Agege and ogba was duly controlled, I alighted from the car after paying, there was a standby usher lady at the gate, she ushered me in majestically, i sighted Tinuke instantly, she was dressed in beautiful glittering stoned black gown, her natural black hair waved and danced with the conjugal bliss, her smile with her friends glowed up with the sun, she was looking so beautiful like a dark angel. I stared unconsciously.

“Hey see who is here” Bimbo bumped into me.

You are looking so good, she sighted me from head to toe as she handed me a glass of wine.

“You are here too?” I asked surprisingly.

“What do you expect, it’s my boss celebrating, remember?” She replied.

My attention wasn’t really with her but with the beauty of nature written all over Tinuke, I couldn’t stop staring at her. I sighted the DFA from a distance, I left Bimbo on spot and approached him.

“See who is here, my chairman” he said as he showed me to the rest of the directors in the ministry that were present at the party, we exchanges pleasantries, his wife came through.

“so you are the youngest chairman my husband has been talking about” she said excitingly. i blushed.

“Oh my God! He’s so handsome” she said and she gave me a hug.

I felt so loved and special, I appreciated them with my kind words and prayers as I handed over the complimentary card I bought for them, they loved it and appreciated it, Tinuke came through and hugged her mum from behind

“Meet my daughter Tinuke, she’s my first child, she studied abroad and came home for her NYSC programme, she refused to go back to her sibling since then” she explained.

i smiled and was about to talked when Tinuke spoke up.

“we have met, we met in dad’s office, he repaired my laptop”. She explained.

“Oh I see!”/Her mother exclaimed.

she knowingly left us alone pretending to go and meet her husband. ( I know that expression).

Tinuke was about walking away when I held her hand.

” I am sorry for the other day” I apologised. She stared at me for a while and smiled.

“you are forgiven, you look cute”

“Thank you I replied.

“You’re looking beautiful too”

she blushed as she held on to my left hand, we both held our glasses and walked through the pool partway that led to the gym.

Bimbo stared at us from distance.

We walked through the pathway hand in hand, there was instinct chattering in the big compound where tents were erected until the sound of clacking glasses got everyone’s attention, a male voice spoke up.

“shall we all raise our glasses for these beautiful and wonderful couple to celebrate their anniversary today” we all did as he said,

“long life in good health and wealth to this couple and their family, we drink to love” we all clack our glasses to one another and we drank.

” Three hearty cheers to the couple, hurray! Hurray!! Hurray!!!” He concluded.

Tinuke drew me to where other ladies which happened to be her friends were seated, she introduced me to them and we all exchange pleasantries, the expression on Tinuke’s face was totally different from the one I was used to, she was more lively, nice, caring and interesting, she was scarily loving, but I had to enjoy the moment while it lasted.

My eyes met with Sade’s once in a while as she sat very close to the caterers because she was to direct the serving of foods while I was sitting with Tinuke under the tent.

I tried Bukola’s number again but she wasn’t picking up, this got me wondering what would have happened and sent streams of thoughts into my mind, I had to it keep myself together so as not to create another impression in front of Tinuke, because I was actually enjoying the moment with her.

“Here comes mother and son” said Tinuke, as the PS and a guy that’ll be in his mid 20s approaches, her presence attracted the audience as all the ministry workers stood up to welcome her as the ushers led her to her reserved seat. I stood up too.

“I approached her, you are welcome ma,” I greeted.

“hey! Mr Chairman how are you? I didnt know you are around, meet my son, (pointing at the guy sitting beside him), his name is Ben, and Ben meet Yemi, my colleague at work.

“Hi Yemi” He stretched his hand for handshake, I shook with a smile.

” I have to go back to my seat ma”I said.

” ok, we’ll see before I leave” she replied.

I took my leave back to my seat. Tinuke was off the seat when I got back.

Sade approached me.

“I can see you don’t have my time, because you have been contained, now you are making me feel bad for sending you my pictures. She said and walked away.

Few minutes later, Tinuke showed up with two plates of assorted meat and a bottle of wine, she handed one plate to me and sat beside me.

” I can see you’ve met Ben, she said.

” yes I have” I replied.

“I don’t like him, he’s rude and proud, we attended the same university in abroad, he once asked me out but he is too immature for my liking” she poured out.

I chuckled.

“its not funny, I think its because he’s from a wealthy family and probably because he’s the only child” She said and hissed.

Talk of the devil, Ben approached.

“hi Tinuke, I can see you found a new friend” his expression was rude and his attitude was full of pride. Tinuke felt uncomfortable, she threw away her face.

I smiled.

“let me excuse you two”, I stood up and went outside the gate to call Bukola, this time she picked up.

“Hello Bukola, why haven’t you been picking my calls, I am worried about you”I exclaimed.

“I am sick, I was admitted this morning, she replied.

“You are what?!”

“I was admitted into the hospital this morning, I couldn’t pick any call, I just felt better but I can’t talk much” she replied.

“Please send me the address of the hospital” I asked and dropped the call.

The thought of Bukola got me womdering and I was wondering what could have caused it. Guilt filled my soul and fed my wit with regret. I went back into the gate and saw Tinuke approaching me.

” where have you been? I have been looking for you everywhere” she exclaimed.

“I was outside making some calls, I replied.

“Are you okay? You look worried”, she asked.

“I am okay”

We went back to our seats.

“so how did you go with your boyfriend?”

she looked at me with an annoyingly and tapped me.

” why did you excuse yourself?” I didn’t want to talk to him but you made me” she said.

“I thought I could facilitate your reunion”I replied with a smile.

” You can’t imagine what he was saying, he was telling me that……”

At this point I wasn’t listening to all she was saying again as I was checking my phone to see if Bukola’s text has come through.

“Yemi, you aren’t listening and don’t even deny it, you have to cut the crap and tell me what’s going on because its written all over you that you are worried, this wasn’t how you were before you went to make those calls” she poured out.

I couldn’t help it but explain to her. “I got a call that a friend of mine was admitted into the hospital this morning and it got me worried because we still spoke yesterday” I explained.

“How come what happened to him? Is he okay?”

“It’s a she, she’s feeling better now”,

“she? Your girlfriend?” She asked curiously.

” She’s not my girlfriend, she’s just a close friend” I replied.

I will leave any moment from now so as to go and see how she’s doing”, I said.

“Just like that? , you got here less than 2hours and you want to leave?” She exclaimed angrily and left.

Bukola’s text came in and I ordered for Uber immediately. While i was waiting for its arrival, I approached DFA to inform him of my leave and explained why. I also apologised for not staying any longer. He understood and appreciated my presence.

“I can see you and Tinuke already made it up with one another, I decided not to disturb” he said.

“Yes, we are getting along sir” I said.

” I told you she’s a lovely lady, its just that you met her at the wrong time” he said.

I appreciated him and also went to the PS to inform her that I was to be somewhere and its urgent, she bid me good bye. I received a call from the Uber man that was already outside. I headed straight to the gate.

Sade bumped into me again.

“You are leaving?” She asked.

“yes i am, i have to be somewhere very important”

As I was walking away from her, she stood like a grounded tree and watched me surprisingly.

Tinuke called out. ” Yemi please wait…
