LASGIDY LINKS Episode 24 by Adewrites

I went back into the house and brought out what was in the pack. It was a flower shirt, a nicker, a smart watch and a sun shade. All made of the same brand.

I returned it and brooded over what she told me about Sade.

” Is Sade really what Tinuke said she is or she’s just exaggerating?”

On the other hand, all of it was none of my business, I was the one that got into her business, I shaved it off and tested my pool party dress on, they looked nice on me.

I returned them, ate, took my drugs and slept off. My phone rang and it was Sade, that was when I knew I had slept for a long time. I picked up and she asked me to help her with the main gate which I hurried up to open. She threw herself in my arms when she saw me and lamented on how crazy it was with DFA.

What Tinuke told me about them came to my mind again. We went inside and she sighted my package.

“What is this? Where did you get these from?” She asked as she picked them up and checked one after the other.

“Tinuke brought them for me” I said.

She dropped them and looked at me surprisingly.

“Tinuke did what? Tinuke came to my house?” She chuckled sarcastically, stood akimbo and continued.

“Yemi, you mean Tinuke came to my house? This is unbelievable, so she made sure I left before she came, she is a hypocrite” she ranted and paced the room.

I got pissed.

“What is going on between you two? Why are you guys behaving this way, you are driving me crazy” I exclaimed.

She chuckled again.

“Yemi, the Tinuke I know is not nice to buy you things and the last place Tinuke would come to is my house, ” she said. I looked at her confusingly

“What are you talking about?” I asked.

“Something is fishing somewhere, Yemi please you need to be careful, I don’t trust Tinuke ” she said.

” How will you trust her after you slept with her father?” I blurted.

Her gaze was sharp on me, I saw pain running through thunderous veins on her face, tears dropped profusely.

“Oh, she told you that? Wow! I didn’t see that coming” she said and left for the bathroom. I got tired of being caught in their webs.

I packed my things before she came back. She opened the shower and took her eternity to come out. When she finally came out, her eyes were swollen and it was obvious that she had been crying under the shower.

“I’ll be going home soon, I don’t like how you and Tinuke are drawing lines because of me, I’ll be better off in my house, you can visit me anytime you want to” I said and thanked her for the care and everything she did for me.

She didn’t say a word, she sat on the bed and lowered her head. I left the room. I felt bad leaving her like that but I had to because I had became the bone of contention between them, both sides were feeding me with stories I know nothing about, they were messing with my mental health and that wasn’t what I needed at that time, I needed to get well and focus on the task ahead of me.

I got home and texted her, I also apologize for leaving she replied.

“It’s fine Yemi, I shouldn’t have dragged you into this mess, I will see you tomorrow after work”

Tinuke’s call came in immediately after I read Sade’s message.

“Hello Yemi, how are you? How are you feeling now?” She asked.

I told her I had gotten home and she promised to see me the next day.

I sat on my bed thinking about what Sade said about Tinuke and there was a particular statement that kept ringing in my head.

“Something is fishing somewhere, Yemi please you need to be careful, I don’t trust Tinuke ”

Why would she think Tinuke has a plan, what plan could it be? Or is she trying to poison my mind to checkmate Tinuke?

I was lost in these thoughts when I heard someone knocking on my door, I was shocked because I wasn’t expecting anyone. I didn’t answer. The knock came in again and I asked who it was.

” its me Bukola”

I was stunned.

What? Bukola in my house? What is she doing here? She didn’t even tell me she’s coming” I thought as I stood up to open the door.

She hugged me and checked me out.

“How are you feeling now? I was worried when I heard you are sick, you didn’t tell me anything, what is the matter? Are you feeling better now?” She asked. She had a goody bag in her hand and a hand bag

“Yes I am feeling better now but you didn’t inform me you were coming” I said.

“I’m sorry I didn’t inform you, I thought you didn’t want to see me, I sent you a text last night when I was coming but you didn’t reply my text that’s why I came without prior notice, I am sorry” she apologized.

I avoided her gaze because there was something about the way she looks at me that made me fall in love with her. She reached for her bag and brought out a fruit pack and handed it over to me.

“I heard fruits hastens healing, please take it, ” she said and I collected it.

She did not say anything about what happened in her house last time and I didn’t say anything about it either. It was getting late, I called her attention to the time.

“I am not going home tonight, I am staying with you, I’ll be going to work from here tomorrow, I can’t leave you like this” she said, pulled her bag and headed to the kitchen, she washed the plate and cleaned the kitchen, she reached for the goody bag and brought out grinded pepper, oil, meat and other ingredients.

“You need to eat something good tonight, I know you’ve been living on snacks which is not too good for your health” she said.

I was surprised.

“You bought all these because of me? What if you didn’t meet me at home?” I asked.

She smiled.

I came with them yesterday and went home with them when I didn’t meet you at home, If I didn’t meet you today again, I’ll go home with them and I’ll try again tomorrow ” she said.

“Are you kidding me right now?” I exclaimed.

“No I’m not,” she replied.

But what did Bukola really want?

LASGIDY LINKS Episode 25 by Adewrites

Bukola cooked a pot of soup full of meat and fish, she prepared semo with it. She served me and I devoured it, she made sure I took my drugs after eating.

She didn’t say anything concerning what happened last in her house nor did she talk about anything in the office. After eating, she went straight into the bathroom and showered. She went for one of my boxers and tees as usual and wore it. She tossed herself on my bed and covered up with my duvet

.

“If you need anything please don’t hesitate to wake me, I am here because of you” she said, turned to the wall and slept. I watched her as she wallowed on my bed. I pressed my phone a bit before joining her in the bed.

Her phone alarm blared, it was 4:30am, she jumped up and put off the alarm, she went straight to the kitchen and shuffled it with the bathroom. Minutes later, she tapped me.

“Yemi, wake up, I will soon be on my way to work, I prepared spaghetti, you can serve yourself when you are ready to eat, I prepared yam too and I have preserved it in the warmer for you so that you can eat it in the afternoon. Please make sure you take your medications” she said and went to dress up.

I was fast asleep, I felt a kiss on my cheek and it woke me. She bid me goodbye and left.

Later in the morning, the PS, the DFA and other members of the committee called to check up on me. They wished me a quick recovery. I didn’t really feel sick anymore, I just needed some rest which I already gotten but the sick leave was an opportunity to retrace my steps with the ladies and also strategize on how I’ll carry out the task ahead of me.

I was writing down my plans when Tinuke’s call came in. She called to inform me that she would be on her way very soon. I rushed up and started cleaning the house, I changed my bed sheet and tidied everywhere I sprayed some air freshener too.

30minutes later, she called to inform me that she was already at the fagba bus stop. I took a bike and went to meet her, we went to my house together.

She came in and looked everywhere cautiously as though she wasn’t comfortable with the environment.

“Yemi, I can’t wait for you to execute this project successfully so that you can leave this place and relocate to a well befitting apartment, this place did not suit your status quo, you need to upgrade” she said.

At first, I didn’t pay attention to her words, I only paid attention to her reaction, I later came to sense the meaning in her words.

“I don’t understand what you mean by the project, have you forgotten that it’s government work? And its not a personal contract, I was just chosen to head the project, how on earth will I be able to make money from it?” I asked.

She looked at me surprisingly.

“Really? Yemi, are you kidding me?, so you want to dull yourself? You want to execute a multimillionaire project and won’t make something out of it, you’ve got to be kidding me Yemi” she exclaimed.

Her words got to me and I was surprised she was saying this to me, I got confused.

” what are you insinuating Tinuke? What are you trying to say?” I asked.

She adjusted on the bed and moved closer to me.

“Yemi, this is Lagos, you have to be smart, its either you make it or lose it, this kind of opportunity is what turned many people to millionaires, don’t you like to be amidst rich people? Don’t you like to cruise the streets of Lagos with your own car? Won’t you like to have the kind of babe you want? Yemi, looked at me”

I looked into her eyes and every question she asked raced with my heart. She continued.

“Imagine yourself sending money home to your mum, imagine being the breadwinner of your family, rolling with Lagos big boys like Ben, Moses, Ade and co, money brings money my dear, don’t misuse any opportunity that comes your way” she exclaimed.

“But why are you telling me this? This is no one’s money, this is the government’s money and I was trusted enough to handle this project, I don’t want to blow that chance, and aside that, I don’t want to be found wanting, I am surprised you are telling me this” I said.

I saw her expression as she was drenched in disappointment.

“Its your choice Yemi, i am only giving you a friendly advice, i am not saying you should give me money from your gains, i just want you to live a good life because I am not just comfortable with this apartment and its environment, I am not sure I’ll be visiting often as I wished to” she said.

It was a dead silence for a few minutes before she broke the silence.

“Hope you are feeling better now, I will pick you up on Saturday and drop you if the traffic is not heavy, I will call to check up on you later” she said and stood up.

“I have to be on my way now,i have a business appointment with my partners, take good care of yourself”

I saw her off to the car and she drove off. I went back inside thinking about what she said.

“How will I take the government money and spend it without the committee knowing? Or is this how these people have been operating? Spending the government’s money that is meant for projects? If they finally find out, what would be my explanation, won’t I end up in jail? Won’t I tarnish my image?”

Several questions ruminate in my mind. On the other part, I started seeing the possibility of what she said and started fantasizing about luxuries and connections.

An apartment on the island, a car, I could even win Tinuke from Ben, or get myself a beautiful lady.

I thought about these as I laid on my bed. What if this is an opportunity I might not see again, what if this is my only chance I’ve got?

I stood up from the bed and paced the room. Another thought came to my mind which gave me a lot of concern.

What if this is a test of integrity? What will I do not to fail this test.

Lord help me.
