Dora And The Water god!
Episode 30
… “Rise and get lost you two!” The old man roared in @nger, and Neni and her grandmother disappeared into thin air immediately.
He turned and saw me standing there visibly shaking, and then he smiled.
“Do not be afraid, be calm. ” He said rubbing his chest down still smiling. His set of teeth were so white and intact, and his grey hair and beards well combed and arranged including his hair lines.
“Follow me” He said but I was skeptical wether to do so or not. I turned and looked left, and then right, it was just me and him.
“I should…?” I asked him in whispers with a finger pointing at myself, to be sure of what I had heard.
“Come on, follow me, let me show you around” Said the old man again.
I was still where I stood contemplating on what he was asking me to do but his hand was already stretched forth and slowly, I walked up to him and he took my hand. At that moment, I quickly and quietly said my last prayers as we began to walk to where I had no idea of.
“You see, I’m aware of your feelings for my son, Neon. I know you love him so much and would wish to spend the rest of your life with him. ” He said, exhaled, and then shook his head.
“The only mistake I made through out my existence was having Neni and Neon betrothed. Let me tell you a secret. Did you know that Neni’s mother was also a human just like you?”
“N…no…” I said, so surprised to hear what he just mentioned.
“Yes she was. She took in for Neni’s father who was also from the water, and also a child of a river goddess. Neni’s father was so sc@red of his mother, which is this same Neni’s grandmother, that he couldn’t tell her that a girl, not just a girl, that a human took in for him. Neni’s mother and father were so in love, and also seemed inseparable. The day Neni’s grandmother found out that a human was pregnant for her son, she was so m@d that she almost att@cked Neni’s mother and her people but words came to me and I immediately put a stop to her plans of att@cking them “

I paused…
“What?!” I exclaimed.
“Yes, it’s the truth. The day Neni’s mother put to bed, her baby was almost snatched from her by the goddess but she was later given an option wether to come live with them in the river where she would have access to her child or remain with her people but the child taken from her. Of course she took the option to go live with them in the river. Which same mother would want to do otherwise? The day she moved into the river, Neni’s grandmother told me about it, and then I visited. As soon as I set eyes on the baby I fell in love with her cuteness, that we had the baby and Neon betrothed immediately so the baby was then named Neni.”
“Interesting ” I said with nods, as we continued walking to wherever but all I wanted to hear was the full gist.
“So, what then later happened?” I asked.
“A lot Dora, a whole lot” He said and then continued…
“One day after three months, the goddess was already so fed up of Neni’s mother cos all she was taught to help her behave like those in the water, she just couldn’t adapt.” The man said shaking his head and then sighed.
“So…?” I asked with curiosity.
“The goddess then sent her son to help deliver a message in the other kingdom one morning and before he returned, Neni’s mother had been sent out of the water. Not just that, the goddess took the baby from her and also made Neni’s mother’s people disappear from their abode to where her son would not be able to reach them. Her son combed everywhere in the village for the love of his life and also her people when he got back, maybe they would know wherever she was but neither her nor her people were found by the villagers. Her initial plan was to k!ll them all but for the fear of being dethroned by me, she made them go missing instead.”
“What?!” I exclaimed again.
“So…?” I asked again.
“When her son couldn’t find his love and her people, he returned into the water and a few days after, he also disappeared without traces and even up till today, no one knows if Neni’s real parents are either alive or de@d.”
“But, how come you didn’t do anything about the whole situation as at the time?”
“Everything was hidden from me by the goddess unknown to her that I was aware. Since no one brought the issue to my notice, I allowed it remain so” He said with a smile.
“This is so unbelievable. So Neni is half human?” I asked.
“Of course “
“So, do you know where her parents are? Are they still alive?”
“They are, but I wouldn’t want to tell anyone where they currently are. Infact, they are not only alive but happily married with children”
Well, we walked for another few minutes and we later arrived at the river.
As soon as we arrived the river, I don’t know how Neon got the information that his father was around, and he appeared almost immediately in the water, beaming with smiles.
I watched as they hurried toward each other and they both gave each other a very big hug, smiling from ear to ear and Neon began to cry.
They talked for almost an hour too and Neon apologized to me for all he did wrong and when they were done, and right there in the river, the old man told me to bring him back to the river in 7 days, and then transformed back into a baby…
