Dora And The Water god!
Episode 20.
… “Shhhhh” She whispered and I immediately remained calm.
With her hand still over my mouth, I watched in disappointment as Neon danced with Neni, but holding hands and embracing each other like newly wedded couples.
When I just couldn’t bear it any longer, I signaled the little girl to allow me return home.
She removed her hand and quietly pulled me up, I don’t know how she managed to gather such strength.
She held one of my hands and made me walk quietly out of there but somehow in the process of walking out, I was caught by one of those people beating the drums and somehow, they immediately stopped drumming.
“Hey! who is that?” I heard all of a sudden from behind, and I looked back swiftly to be sure it was me that was being referred to but immediately, I found myself in my room. I stood in the middle of my room looking around, wondering how I managed to get there when the voice of the little girl got me startled.
“My mistake. I didn’t know they were going to see you, I would have made you invincible as soon as I got there”. The little girl said.
I stood there disappointed, as hot tears flowed down my face.
“I am…so heartbroken ” I whispered with my head bowed.
“You don’t need to be. You should understand by now that you and Neon belong to two separate worlds, and are not compatible. I know you love him but do you think that it will be possible for you two to live together? In whose world? In yours,or his? How long do you think that you can survive in the water if you two start to live there? Or you think Neon will abandon his world and everything and come stay here with you? I don’t want you to feel b@d, just know that ever meeting Neon happened for a reason”
As soon as I heard that, I looked up.
“Meeting Neon happened for a reason? What reason if I may ask? What reason in particular made him put me in a family way and now he doesn’t even want to see me anymore?”
“I’m not trying to take sides but all he did, he did for you. I know he once truly loved you, maybe he still does I don’t know. But, having a child will pave way for so many positive things for you. You will no longer be bull!ed, maltreated or disrespected. I know you won’t understand all I’m trying to say now till after you give birth ” She said.
“Neon deceived me”
“I’m sorry if that’s how you see it but, things will soon get better ” She said again.
I wiped my tears with the back of my palm, muttering a “Thank you ” to her.
“I must leave now” She said with a smile, and then disappeared.
I wasn’t even myself. I paced back and forth, dropping tears of p@in, hurt and heartbreak, and then finally sat on the floor after standing for about an hour, thinking about what and what to do.
That morning, I decided to go to the river to sing if Neon would show up so we could talk.

On reaching there, I first sat by the river, throwing stones and staring into it, trying to calm myself down Incase Neon shows up. I was ready to even tear him apart if that was possible.
I started singing, and I sang for almost half an hour without a sign of him. I was in tears, tears of so much pa!n.
I stood up to leave when he wouldn’t come out, and I remembered the necklace I had around my neck and I immediately took it off and had it thrown into the river but as soon as I turned to leave, I heard a voice.
“Wait! The person said, and I looked back swiftly, lo and behold, it was Neon. I felt like ripping him apart as @nger had turned my face into something else, now looking like a wounded beast. But I had to take caution and stop overreacting when it crossed my mind that he was a god and not human.
“I am sorry” He managed to say, stretching forth the necklace I had thrown into the water.
“It’s yours” He added.
“No, it’s yours. Or you can give it to Neni instead” I said tearfully.
“Look Dora, I can explain”
“I no longer need your explanation river god, of what use is it?” I asked, and then turned to leave.
“Dora, I know I betrayed you but it’s not what you think. I wish I could explain to you how it is but you’re only human”
“Yes, more reason why I was impregnated and abandoned by a river god. You know I can’t challenge you or do anything even if I wanted to cos you’re not human so please, enjoy your marriage ” I said , and then walked out.
“I wish I could make you understand, Dora” He said at the top of his voice but I was no longer interested in whatever he had to say.
I left there in tears that I couldn’t control, I was wailing. And then I was distracted by something.
I saw this rare looking colorful and beautiful bird perched on a tiny stone along the bush path, and immediately, I smiled and wiped my tears.
The bird flew up, and then perched on my shoulder. I caught it, and I stared into its beautiful eyes but it flew again and then perched on a small tree close by.
I went there, caught it but it flew away again and then perched on another tree but I still went after it.
After catching it for the last time , as soon as I turned to leave with the bird still in my palms, there Neni and her grandmother were in white silky attire, standing close to me.
“How dare you?” Her grandmother questioned, with smoke visibly coming out from her eyes…
