Dora And The Water god!
Episode 16
… “Neonnnnn!!!” I called at the top of my voice. He initially stood there backing me but as soon as he heard my voice, he turned, now facing me.
“Neonnnnn” I called again, almost screaming out my lungs, and I began to run to him but I couldn’t, being in the river, and I began to swim instead.
He paused for a while staring at me without a word and when I almost swam to him, he disappeared.
“Neon! Neon!! Neon!!!” I called, busting into tears but he didn’t show up again.
I was in the water swimming back and forth for almost an hour, I was so confused on what next to do and I wept bitterly.
A lady I had never seen before came to fetch water at the river. When she noticed that I wasn’t coming out and at the same time crying, she stood staring at me.
“Hello, are you ok?” She asked but I ignored her.
“Come on, you can talk to me” She said but I couldn’t just let a stranger know whatever I was into.
“See, if you remain in the water for so long, you’re going to catch a cold” She said but I didn’t mind.
She stood by the river for a few minutes waiting for me to come out but when I didn’t, she dived into the river and she swam to me.
“Whatever it is that you’re going through, you don’t have to dr0wn yourself” She said dragging me out.
After dragging me out to the dry land, I lay down and I almost cried out my eyeballs.
“Look, whatever it is, be rest assured that all will be well” She said.
I sat up and i managed to smile at her despite the pain that was written all over my face.

“Thank you ” I whispered.
She squatted beside me, looking into my eyes.
“Is it something you would want to share?” She asked but I shook my head.
“Ok then, If you say so ” She said smiling back.
“Anyways, my name is Neni”
“I’m Dora”
“Are you from this village? ” She questioned.
“Yes, and you?” I asked.
“Yes, I am ” She replied and immediately, I looked keenly at her again, but her face didn’t look familiar.
“Are you sure? I don’t think I have seen this face before ” I said with eyes still glued to her.
“Yes, you may not have but my grandmother and I live on the outskirts of the village.” She said.
“Oh… ok. No wonder I have never come across you before ” I said, and she smiled.
“Ermm… I must go now before my grandmother starts looking for me” She said carrying her pot of water on her head.
“I don’t intend to stay here any longer, we can leave here together if you don’t mind ” I said standing up. My clothes were dripping but I didn’t care about it.
“Oh ok, that would be great” She said.
We walked out together from there, already gisting and smiling.
“So who is your mother here?” She asked. I looked at her and I exhaled.
“My mother and father are late, but I live with my stepmother and children”
“Oh, so sorry about that”
“It’s nothing” I replied.
And then, the necklace had been in my pocket since I ran from the house to the river. I brought it out and was about wearing it when she saw it and was so shocked.
“Who gave you that?” She probed with popped eyes.
“This?” I asked raising it and she nodded.
“A friend gave it to me” I said wearing it around my neck.
“What? Is that your friend from the river?” She asked and I paused.
“How do you know that?”
“Well, my grandmother is from the river and she has something like this”…
