**The Devil I never knew**
The operations of the disarmament of Mortos Rio cartel’s arsenals by Pelotas River were successful. Las Flakes and her girls pretended to be girls who came for a picnic wearing some sexy bikini. To perfect their plans, the girls had sex with the guards and forced them to drink to stupor. Succubus
single-handedly carried out the job smoothly and joined the other girls later. Before the guys woke up, everything was placed back in place, making it hard for them to know that something went wrong.
When Hugo got back to the Plantation, he noticed that he’d not seen Belle Ramon for a while even before they left for the war against the Spiders. This got him so worked up. He tried many times to get through to her but her number remained switched off.
When the girls came back to celebrate the success of their operation, their enjoyment was greeted by the sad news of Belle’s disappearance.
Even though Hugo told Las Flakes about the letter that Belle gave her and the Doctor’s involvement as the mole, Las Flakes and the Super Falcons went in search to trace her location because she knows how Lord Rodrigo works and what will become of Belle and the Doctor if they ever tried disappearing.
After the search by the girls, they discovered that Lucas traced Belle and the Doctor on their way to eloping to France. The Doctor escaped according to the intel the got but Belle was captured.
It was really heartbreaking for Hugo when he got the news, which made him send Las Flakes back to Lucas to know the state of things and how to rescue the girl alive.
Hugo was so sad and couldn’t go home that Saturday night as he remained disturbed, taking to drinking to forget such sadness. He couldn’t just understand how Lucas could cowardly resort to abduction as his only tactics for fighting a rival cartel. He was in the Beach Bar drinking when Las Flakes came around to meet him.
Seeing how distant and tipsy her boss looked, Las Flakes came to him and forcefully collected the wine from him.
“You don’t need to drink sorrows away because Belle was abducted. You have to listen to the sad news I came with,” she said without twee words, “You’d be shocked to hear this. If you’re not ready for the bombshell, I may have to leave you until you’re sober and ready to listen,”
Those words quickly brought Hugo back to his senses, driving the last influence of the wine away from him and his adrenaline got stimulated making him active. “Let me hear it quickly,” he said and braced himself for news.
“I don’t have to involve in any form of rigmarole,” she said and pulled him closer, “Belle is dead. She was killed this morning,”
The news sounded unbelievable to him but got his head spinning with confusion. He felt as if he was blacking out but Las Flakes held him and made him rest his aching head on the couch.
After a while of thinking about it all, he heaved a sigh, gritted his teeth in anger and squirmed in discomfort. He arched hunched over his knee and remembered the last time he shared with Belle in the SUV she bought for him. Hugo couldn’t just take it because he almost believed that Belle was happy and about to enjoy a peaceful life just as she promised him in the letter.
“Did you come back with her corpse?” he angrily asked looking so absent and shattered with emotional torture. “Lucas always kills them but doesn’t bring their dead bodies back to me for a proper burial. He should have allowed me to bury her properly,”
“It’s so sad but I couldn’t ask for her body because I still made him believe that I was still maintaining my position as his mole,” Flakes sadly answered with a tear trying to announce its presence in her eyes but she forced it back and acted like the strong soldier she’s meant to represent.
“Lucas just murdered the second person I fell in love with,” he said with tears blurring his vision but he allowed it rain down on his cheek without repressing it. “I couldn’t even drive the SUV she bought for me before she died. He killed Larissa, now Belle,” Standing up but staggering to remain firm, Hugo cried out saying: “I will crush him this time and make him pay for their deaths,”
After a while of looking pitifully at Hugo, Flakes held him and pulled him back to the seat because he was already attracting some audiences with his loud cry of anguish.
“It may surprise or interest you to know that Lucas didn’t kill Belle. Lord Rodrigo did,” Flakes reported; which got the disturbed man wondering who the monster could be, “Lucas was even bitter about it but he’s subjected to his boss who is the owner and CEO that controls Mortos Rio Cartel.
It wasn’t even Lucas Antonio that connived with Mark Brendan the D.E.A agent that went rogue to take over the plantation that was meant to be destroyed. It was Lord Rodrigo who did that. Right now, Mark Brendan and Lord Rodrigo control the Mortos Rio cartel while Lucas position is just the head of operations. It may interest you to know that Lord Rodrigo and Mark Brendan are married. They are gay and…”
“No, they’re not,” Marco Antonio said and joined the discussion.
Seeing Marco got them surprised.
“What do you mean by that, Marco, and where have you been since?” Hugo bellowed.
“I found my way back to Mortos Rio to complete my assignment as a double even though it wasn’t easy at all,” he said and gritted with anger, “I became more obsessed in disclosing the identity of Lord Rodrigo than bringing down the cartel. My assignment from my handler was narrowed to discovering the true identity of Lord Rodrigo since bringing down Mortos Rio depends on putting an end to the anonymous felon that operates in the shadows,”
“And what are your findings?” Hugo asked impatiently dragging him closer to learn the truth.
“I know you’d be shocked to know that Lord Rodrigo is no other person but Larissa; your supposed late wife. She’s in partnership with Mark Brendan in controlling Mortos Rio Cartel. I was shocked too,” Marco disclosed.
Hugo and Las Flakes remained numb and appalled. Hugo didn’t believe what he heard, making the glass of wine he had with him to fall and break. He remained speechless, thinking through everything and shrugging at intervals.
His head spun with disbelief as his eyes rolled back into his head out of confusion and shock. He began to lose his breath making Las Flakes and Marco to sprinkle some water on him and exposed him to adequate aeration because he was about to pass out.
“You’re joking, right?” Hugo asked and laughed carelessly as if he was losing his sanity, “Tell me you’re just joking and pulling my legs!” he wailed louder and grabbed Marco on the neck and kept shaking him vehemently, “she can’t be a drug dealer and she must not be that,” he kept saying and crying, Larissa is innocent. Tell me that. I repeat: shout it, Marco! Arghhhhh—arghhh,” he started crying aloud that Marco and Las Flakes had to drag him into the snooker room, chased the entire players away just to maintain so privacy.
Las Flakes forced him to sit on the couch. She was so surprised and shocked too because the last person on her mind was Larissa.
“I’m just surprised too,” she said after a couple of minutes’ silence, “but I think Marco has a point here,”
“How can he have a point in this madness!” Hugo asked with red eyes as he laughed and cried at the same time, “Marco is lying….he…he…he,”
“Because he can’t joke with serious issues like this,” she said logically, “Hugo, you need to reshape your thoughts and accept that this is true. What does he gain by lying about a serious issues like this?”
Hugo was lost in thoughts. He was beginning to come to terms that Marco could be right, making him to be filled with goosebumps as he shuddered repeatedly.
“Larissa and Mark Brendan are married,” Marco continued, “You may be surprised that she was even the one that staged her abduction at the hotel; therefore, you have to be aware that she’d been into the business even before Stone was killed. Larissa Antonio is Stone’s first child, which was why it was easier for him to use her to lure you out. Ask yourself how Stone got to know that Larissa was your girlfriend, which made him abduct her from Brazil to the US.
If you could remember, during your grand birthday, she just showed up from nowhere just to see you, even without an invitation. How did she get the invite to the party without having the knowledge? Even while you were with her in high school, she was already playing her role by distracting you with her beauty and charms, which was what her father sent her for,”
“My dad was right all these while,” Hugo said with great awe and bewilderment as he remained thoughtful,” he was going crazy but had to listen to all that Marco had to say. “Continue shocking me with the news, please. Larissaaaaa…!” he stressed and shrugged with disbelief.
“You may be surprised to know that I’ve been into this investigation even when Ramon was alive,” Marco continued, “I was among the waiters for the day’s event on the day of your birthday, so I know more than you think I do. I’ve been trying to connect the dots and make out some meanings from all these investigations but I finally found the answer, though on your birthday I never knew who she was even though I had my suspicions, but now everything is clearer.
The reason why Larissa is in charge is because Lucas the male child of the family refused to be identified with the drug business, Larissa accepted it and was made the heir to the business. In order to prove herself worthy of being an heir, she killed so many enemies to her dad, including being the one who seduced Breno with wine and made it easy to plant the chip that was later discovered by Ramon, making him kill his best man.
This gave her dad the confidence that the viable heir is birthed. Killing Stone was a shock to Larissa but she played her role so well to the extent that you didn’t notice her emotions on her face. She’s a very good and shrewd player; very diabolical and vicious, even more than her dad but you’d hardly know this,”
“Now I see the real devil that I never knew,” Hugo said as he remained eyes agape with great shock.
“The hotel where you lodged in Florida belongs to Larissa, which was why she was the one that suggested that you two should check in at the hotel for your honeymoon,” Marco continued shocking him, “She was actually perfecting her plans to kill you and make you pay for killing her dad. She vowed to kill anybody that is emotionally attached to you, which is the reason why she killed Belle Ramon and hung her dead body in a cross mounted at the middle of the plantation.
As I am talking to you, Belle’s blood still waters the plantation. She’ll be sending the pictures to you soon. You’ve been fooled many times by the deadly weapon who disguised herself as an innocent girl. I think it’s time for you to wake up now from your dreamless slumber and face the reality of life,”
Hugo kept thinking through the entire drama played against him which left him feeling like a fool. In that anger and languidness, he stood up to rush out of the door with anger but he fell on the floor and hit his head against the cabinet while falling. He blacked out immediately and became unconscious.
