AMAYA
(Son Of The Moon)
Episode 5
A night after the visitation of Jordan, princess Raya’s husband to be.
It was dark and hard to see, but I could make out a crumbling building in front of me. I slowly got to my feet and noticed I was in the middle of a road. The moon shone brightly in the sky, barely lighting up the city. I started walking, trying to figure out what was going on, why I was here. It was eerie, nobody was around.
“H…hello?” I called.
All I replied with was my echoes. I kept looking, there had to be at least one person. Where was the king? Where was the rest of the royal guards? Where are all the people gone to? These questions stuck in my mind. I saw something out of the corner of my eye and smiled, a person. I ran over to where they were, they were laying on the ground, maybe unconscious. I kneeled down beside the person, they looked awfully familiar.
“Princess Raya?” I breathed.
Raya didn’t move, she didn’t breathe. I looked at her more carefully and noticed a pool of crimson liquid under her. I gasped and took a step back, tears welling up in my eyes.
She was dead. Suddenly,a voice came from behind.
“Sorry, little boy,you arrived late!”
Another voice soon joined, “Join us Amaya, you will never feel pain again…”
The first voice was calm and soothing, the second was demanding it also sounded distorted. I don’t know why but I ran towards the calmer voice of the two. Shortly after, Jordan walked out of his hiding place,with a dangerous smile,and a touch of wickedness.
“Jordan? You k!lled her?” I jolted.
“Yes! And you’re in a dream world,but the next time will be real life. ” He said. I then woke up from the dream.
I gasp as I wake up. A massive pain shot through my body, preventing me from moving. I felt someone’s grip tighten on my hand. Managing to open my eyes slightly, I saw Zoe sitting next to me with a slight smile on his face. I could still see the sadness and worry in his eyes. As I tried to sit up, pain filled my entire body. I froze in place; pain spread all over my body. My eyes closed. My teeth gritted. I felt a hand quickly move to my back to support me. I managed to sit up with help from Zoe. After most of the pain had subsided, we started talking for a while, yet I mostly stayed quiet.
“I wanted to talk to you about the revelation you had yesterday!” He softly said. “I need you to be factual to me. Who exactly are you? In different rhythms,I have heard and seen you saying some sort of prayers,facing the directions of the moon! Are you possess or something?”
“Princess Raya!” I broke silence as I hopped off the bed and took to my heels.
“Raya? What about her?!” Zoe sprinted behind me.
I entered a bathroom and brought out a bowl of water. I dipped a finger into it and said a prayer with my lips sounds almost muted, before a picture appeared.
“Amaya! You’re beginning to scare me these days! What is all these water and bowl thing that you usually indulge in,for some time now? Are you a spiritualist?!” He questioned me in anxiety but I kept me.
I kept stirring into the bowl.
“What did you see? All I can see is a bowl filled with water. ” Zoe inquired. It seems like though, I was the only one that was seeing the pictures. So,I quickly splashed few droplets of phantom water on his face. His spiritual eyes then opened to the revelation.
“Is that my sister tied up in there,in the sea? But…! While is she also seen on her bed?” He asked me. I still hadn’t said anything.
Shortly after, the picture faded off of the water.
“Your sister has been captured spiritually and hidden under the marine world,by her spiritual husband. That was her spirit you saw in the sea. Her physical body was the part where you saw her on the bed. She’s as good as dead. ” I stood up and walked back into my room. Zoe sprinted behind me.
“Can you k!ll Jordan to stop this revelation?” He asked.
“He can’t be k!lled. He’s a spirit! The only thing I can do is chase him far away from her. ” I replied.
“My father had just invited them over for their introduction. ” Zoe said. “How can I be of help then?”
“The only help that I need from you right now,is to convince your father,so he can change their meeting hours in the day to night!” I said to him.
A maiden had been suspecting strange happenings between Zoe and I for some days. She tried to figure out what my movement with him was. That night,she watched prince Zoe sneaked in and out of my room severally.
“What revelation did Amaya just told prince Zoe about? To an extent prince Zoe requested that Amaya would k!ll the princess’s husband to be?” She whispered to herself.
Zoe and I tried talking princess Raya out of marrying her betrothed,after that night. It wasn’t a good idea at all,even the king kicked against canceling the marriage,after several attempts of talking them out of it. I later found out that the king’s brains were taken away by Jordan. This idea was for the king to abide to whatever he says.
The next day morning.
“Nneka! Nneka!! Come! Come! I have a secret to share with you!” Lilo the maiden said.
“Lilo! What secret again this time. You always see things in this palace!” Nneka the other maiden dragged.
“I’m suspecting there might be something going on between the prince and his new friend,Amaya!” Lilo said.
“Something like what exactly?” Nneka inquired.
“How can a prince go out, hunting at night with his royal guards and suddenly return to his palace with a stranger? A boy at that!” Lilo tapped on Nneka’s shoulder.
“Wait! Wait!! What are hallucinating? A prince found a little boy of sixteen years old,stranded in the woods,all alone at night and then decided to help him home. I don’t see anything wrong there! Come oh! What’s your point?” Nneka asked.
“My point is! They might be having an affair or something! I also see the prince sneak in and out of Amaya’s room every night. ” Lilo whispered into Nneka’s ears.
“What?!” Nneka exclaimed.
“Lower your voice!” Lilo muttered.
“Prince Zoe is about twenty years of age and Amaya is sixteen! Lilo! Mind your business in this palace. You are beginning to talk to much these days. Chooo! Chooo! Chooo! Chooo! Chooo! Chooo! Chooo! Ahhh! Are you a parrot. One day,this your mouth will land you into trouble in this palace. Then again,count me out. ” Nneka fired and left Lilo wander in her confusion.
“No wahala! I will get to the root of this matter myself. ” Lilo ingested.
Three days later,at about 10:00PM at night,Jordan and his spiritually invented family members, visited the king, Raya’s father for their proper introduction as planned.
Zoe quickly reached out to me in my room for help.
“Those people are all spirits from the sea. They are not true human beings. If your father give up your sister to them,that will be her end. ” I said to him.
“So, what’s my role here?” He asked.
“You go to them. You’re the prince! I shall be handling the whole issue right here in my room. ” So it was. While the introduction commenced ,I walked into the bathroom and filled up a bowl with water,and waited till the moon emerged. Then I sat close to the bowl with my legs crossed. I started running a prayer into the water.
“Moon,bright moon,Son of the Mother Earth,send down your power and strength,Impact them to this bracelet,and reveal the current ceremony in this palace. ” I continued the prayer,while spritzing some spring water and rosemary essential oils into the bowl of water. “Jordan! The moon shines it’s light and let every of your secrets be opened to light of the moon. I am the son of the moon!”
Lilo the palace maiden sneaked into my room,after Zoe had left. She found me saying my incantations.
“My goodness,what is he doing down there?” She quickly rushed out and informed one other maiden and they both came to spy on me. My focused was fixed on my prayers,this was why I had no reactions of their presence. The two maidens stood there, spying on me frantically. Zoe had forgotten to shut my room door,when he left.
The introduction at the palace.
“My king! I’m here to inform you and my brother in-law,prince Zoe about…. ! ” Jordan paused. There was a strange fluorescent light flashing into him. “Marriage between…” He paused again,and started turning his head to and fro.
“Are you okay,king Jordan?” Zoe asked.
“O yes! I am…!” He pause and and suddenly,he screamed and transformed into a skeleton.
The entire palace jolted off. The screams engulfed the whole community.
I was still pouring some rosemary essential oils and some spring water into the bowl,while I was stirring up the water. Rays of light kept flying out of the bowl. Suddenly,a tap landed on my shoulder! I turned and it was the royal guards!
” The king wants you right now. Cease him!” He commanded. Three of the royal guards aggressively grabbed me and a glowing light struck them down instantly.
“He’s a sorcerer! He’s a sorcerer!” They screamed aloud as they stood up from the floor.
Lilo,the palace maiden had just reported to the king about me been the brain behind the misfortune of Jordan’s sudden change.
“Amaya!” A call echoed behind me. I turned and found the king and prince Zoe, stirring at me. “A son of the moon?”
