CHAPTER 4
Ernest lost his words and just kept on staring at his friend. A call came into George's phone. After answering the call, he drank up the last beer in his glass. Then he stood up to leave because he had an urgency. He turned and looked at Ernest and said…
"A man who hangs around a beautiful girl without speaking his intention ends up fetching water for guests at her wedding"But in your case my friend, I’m just scared of the pains you’ll go go through when it’s late George said and walked into his car. After George drove off, Ernest stood up from the seat and started pacing around his house. George is right with the fact that he was taking a lot of time. He never wanted anything that will distract Cassandra and her studies. Now she has graduated, yet he had not said anything to her.
Ernest made up his mind that it was the right time for him to open up to cassandra before someone else does.
When Cassandra came back home that day from work, she was tired because of the strenuous work at the office. Ernest couldn't put together the right words to say the bottled feelings he had kept over the years. Ernest made dinner that night and talked Cassandra to sleep.
From the way she acted towards him, Ernest could feel some connections between them that night. He wanted to touch her but something asked him to wait a while more. Ernest decided he was going to buy an engagement ring. He will tell Cassandra about his feelings and propose to her the same day which will be on a Sunday.
On Sunday, Cassandra left for service without Ernest because he told her he had things to do.
When Cassandra left for church, Ernest began to plan his approach and the gifts he has already bought. He took his time and beautified Cassandra's room and the parlor. When he was done, he sat in front of his compound and kept another chair opposite him waiting eagerly for Cassandra to come back church.
The time for service was over and Cassandra was not yet back home. Ernest was worried, he picked up his phone to call her. He dialed her number and was about to call when he heard car horns in front of his gate.
Ernest knew he didn't have any appointment with any of his friends that Sunday so he was surprised the car horn was outside his gate. He stood up and went to get the gate. He opened the gate and to his surprise, Cassandra had already come down from a car and went to open the gate herself for someone else who was inside the car.
Cassandra greeted Ernest and went ahead to open the gate. The car drove into the compound slowly. Ernest was standing and just observing as Cassandra directs the person driving with smiles all over her face.
A tall well built handsome young man came down from the car. His beards were neat and the clothes he wore hugged his muscular body. The perfume he wore added to the nice fragrance of the compound.
Good afternoon sir he greeted as he came down from the car.
Yeah Good afternoon...Who is he Cassandra? Ernest asked looking at Cassandra.
Uncle... Let's seat down at least Cassandra said going to pick up another chair to make it three chairs and a table. When they were seated, the guy said…

When Cassandra had developed feelings for Ernest, she tried every possible way as a lady to give him signs. But Ernest never responded to any sign she had given him. Even when she had tried so many times to let her hand touch him. Ernest has always removed his hands.
At a time, she asked Ernest if he was not going to get married. The answer Ernest always give her was that his wife was not yet available. When ever she tries to raise the topic of love, Ernest changes the topic with studies. When her friends were pestering her why she doesn't want to have a boyfriend at school. She told them she was focused on her studies. After a while, she opened up to a very good friend of hers that she was in love with her helper.
They wanted to see what he looked like in person, reasons why they had come to her house that very day. Ernest was Ofcourse handsome giving out attractive dimples when he smiled. Behind Cassandra, one of her friends had gone to tell Ernest she fell in love with him on first sight. Ernest turned her down immediately.
When Cassandra got to her 300levels, there is this particular guy that was also studying engineering. He was a level ahead of her. He has always been confessing his feelings to Cassandra who seemed not to be interested. It continued, after a time. Cassandra wanted to tell Ernest about it but she already knows his answer.He will always say…
Cassy... As he calls her at times. You know where you are coming from, so focus on your studies and don't let boys distract you. They will only get you pregnant and end your education. Hope you know your parents are expecting so much.
Ernest literally repeats those words to her when ever she tells him about boys. So she always turns the guy down each time he comes.
When Ernest had found a job for Cassandra in a big company. On Cassandra's first day at work, she had gone to the cafeteria to eat. Surprisingly she had met the guy Jaxon who had been after her all those years in school. Turns out he was also working in the same company.
Jaxon paid for Cassandra's meal and they had a lot of catch up. The two started seeing each other. Jaxon had told Cassandra to come visit him for the weekend, so Cassandra asked him to come see Ernest and make their relationship known.
Cassandra invited Jaxon to her church hoping Ernest will go to church but he didn't. So she had to come back to the house with Jaxon without telling Ernest. *
Ernest looked at Cassandra and could see her smiling and looking at Jaxon with love in her eyes.
