So, This is Love? Episode 3 – Judith Onyoyibo
Lisa laid on her bed, completely broken and sad.
The news of the engagement really got to her.
Unable to sleep, she stood from her bed and went to the seating room. She sat on the couch completely lost in thought.
After a while, she stood up and went to her cellar. Grabbing a wine glass, she poured herself a red wine.
Like a man who just lost all his life savings in a bad deal, she angrily gulped the wine. At a point, she got choked up.
She started coughing.
She burst into tears.
“God why am I feeling this way? My friend just got engaged, I should be happy for her. Why then do I feel so sad and broken. Am I jealous? No! I can’t be. I am happy for my girl, she’s about to be a wife”. She soliloquize.
She broke down in tears again.
“Why her though? Why always her? She’s always lucky. While I work my ass off to afford a luxurious life, all she had to do was to secure herself a man like Mike who doesn’t want her a to lift a finger. He gives her everything I struggle day and night to get for myself. This is not fair Lord”.
Her phone started ringing.
It was Sandra calling her for Whatsapp a video call.
She quickly wiped her tears and put up a smiling face before taking the call.
“Sweetheart. What’s up”. Lisa asked.
“I’m good o. What’s up with you, you don’t look good”. Sandra inquired.
“I’m fine dear. I just woke up”. Lisa lied.
“Okay. So Jane is engaged true true? She don leave us for street o”. Sandra said.
“I’m so happy for her”. Lisa lied.
“Happy ke? You should be crying for her. That guy is not good for her. He is not even handsome. That fat buffoon 
“. Sandra said.
They both started laughing.
“I’d rather die single than marry a man like Mike”. Lisa said.
They both started laughing again

“I wonder how their kids will look like “. Sandra said.
“The man is even a tyrant and an abuser. I pity your friend o 
“. Lisa said.
“I wish her all the best with her buffalo soldier . Let me go abeg. I only called to do small amebo (gossip)”. Sandra said.
“You too like gist . Okay na, later “. Lisa said and ended the call.
“I feel so good now”. Lisa declared.
*** ****. ****. *****. ****
I was home alone and bored. I decided to go visit Lisa at her apartment because she’s on leave.
She was so happy to see me.
“Here comes the latest bride to be”. Lisa said excitedly while hugging me.
“You can say that again and again and again”. I said while flaunting the engagement ring I just bought with the money my boyfriend sent me.
“Your ring is so foiiinee! You are so lucky babe. Mike is a big catch!”. Lisa said.
“Before nko? Why did you think I was ready to die there? The God that did it for me, will do it for you”. I said grinning.
“Amen o”. Lisa said.
I told her to help me choose a wedding gown, shoes and other accessories.
“Babe calm down now. Why you dey rush? Did Mike say the wedding is happening soon?”. Lisa asked.
“I don’t understand. After engagement is what? Don’t kill my joy abeg”. I said.
“No vex o”. Lisa said.
Reluctantly, she joined me in planning for my big day.
My phone started ringing. It was my boyfriend.
“Hello sweet”. I said smiling.
“I won’t be coming back till tomorrow”. Mike said from the other end of the call.
“
Why na?”. I asked.
“You like asking questions. See you tomorrow. Love you”. He said and ended the call even before I said “I love you too”.
I said it anyways. My friend was there. Let her know my boyfriend and I are madly in love.
“See love na. God when?”. Lisa teased.
“That boy can’t do without me. He is missing me already”. I bragged.
“Awww! So sweet. I’m happy for you babes”. Lisa said.
“I am happy for me too”. I said.
We both started laughing.
