THE WITCH’S DAUGHTER Episode 8 – Tim’s Stories

The burial had taken place. Just the pastor, my dad, mum and wife were present. It was done in a secret place behind my father’s house. My wife was simply inconsolable and so was my mother. My dad however, had a grip of himself because of the assurance and reassurances from the pastor. When everything was over, my dad was asked by the pastor to stay behind.

“You see, Mr. Peter, I have something to tell you. Something I have never told anyone. Before I became a pastor, I was into the dark arts myself. I learned many things and I know a lot about the underworld. Actually, that has been a plus to my efforts in the constant and never ending fight between good and evil. They say, to catch a thief, you have to think like one.”

“How does this help in bringing back my son, Sammy?” My dad asked.

“Don’t worry, your son, Sammy Peters will be back. However, you have to do exactly as you are told. You have to be as surgically precise as possible in carrying out my instructions. Are you ready now?” The pastor asked.

“Yes, I am.” My dad affirmed.

“During my days in the dark arts, I learnt something which will be of help to us now. This is it. Tonight or latest tomorrow night, Lily, the witch will be here to take your son. You have to be ready.”

He said and gave my dad a double-barreled gun.

“This gun is no ordinary gun. It has been blessed with water from the saints. At the stroke of midnight, she will be here with your son’s spirit to get his body. You have to be here before she arrives and hide yourself.” The pastor explained.”

“So you mean I am going to fight a certified witch with a double-barreled hunting gun?” My dad asked, skeptically.

“Listen to the rest of the instructions, Mr. Peter.” The pastor urged.

“Ok, go ahead.”

“You have to hide yourself. An hour before she comes, there will be a heavy rainfall with lightning and hail stones but do not budge. The rain will last for about thirty minutes. After the rain has stopped, there will be a swarm of mosquitoes in this area. They will be so much that no human can bear them. Do not move. Those are her weapons to make sure there was no living human around when she will be carrying out her diabolical act.” The pastor explained.

“Ride on, pastor.”

“When she is sure there is no around around, she will appear with your son’s spirit. You will be able to see them both. She will stand by the grave and invoke his body. His body will rise from his grave and what you will see will frighten you to your bone marrows. You will think you are seeing three people. However, there will be no real three people. There will be just Lily, your son and his spirit.” The pastor narrated.

“Blood of Jesus!!!” My dad exclaimed. The pastor continued.

“Now you have to wait until she has used her dark craft to join your son and his spirit again before you take action. If you do anything before she finishes, all will be lost. You have to be patient and be strong. Do you understand?”

The pastor asked.

“Yes, Man of God.” My dad said.

“Good, now when you have seen that your son has been reunited with his spirit, fire this gun in the air and wait for what happens next.” The pastor finished.

My dad heaved a heavy sigh. He had the courage to do many things. However, the courage to confront a witch, a dangerous witch at the dead of night with nothing but a double-barreled gun, even one that has been blessed, scared him to death.

“Any questions, Mr. Peters?” The Man of God asked.

My dad scratched his head and responded.

“Two questions, pastor. I have two questions. The first question is more like a request. Can’t you be by my side when I do this. I don’t think I will be able to do it all by myself.” That was my dad speaking.

“Request denied, Mr. Peters. The gods do not do for man, what man must do for himself. You are on your own in this. May God be with you. You have to do it yourself.” The pastor said, firmly. “Now, to your second question, Mr. Peters.”

“Pastor, you said I should wait until my son’s body has been joined with his soul before I take action. How would I know this, since I will be hiding and watching from a distance?” My dad asked.

“That will be easy.” The pastor said. “When you start seeing two people instead of three, know that it is done. You can then take action. Now go home and prepare yourself both psychologically and physically. May God be with you.”

After he had prayed with my dad, they both left and went back to the front of the house.
