THE EVIL TEDDY Episode 3 – The Mystery Man
The alarm for short break sounded , Lilley was the first amongst her pairs to leave the class , she ran to the play ground , a place she felt Shirley wouldn’t go , she loved the food court and sports section .
Lilley had refused to make eye contact with Shirley , she looked away from her direction, she wished she was moved to a different class or her parents changed her school . She rushed to the playground , a place where Shirley rarely went to , she thought she could get peace there .
“Hey girl will you join us on the Merry Go Round ?” a plumpy and bulky girl bigger than her age said to Lilley , she was happy somebody invited her. “Yes I’ll .” Lilley said cheerfully she hopped on one of the six sits of the Merry Go Round , with big girl and two other kids, they sat in a circle , they was an empty sit , but the girl’s weight balanced the ride , the big girl began to steer the ride , by pulling a fixed wheel at the middle of the device , the device began to slowly spin , it made a tweaking sound , as if some of the nuts had gone loose.
“It seems the Merry Go Round is bad .” A boy observed . “Gideon you keep hearing things that are not there .” The day girl said .
“Maybe its your weight that’s causing the Merry go round to fart Judith .” The joke didn’t go well with Judith she growled at Gideon as if she meant to eat him .
“He’s playing .” a girl said tapping Judith ,
Judith continued spinning until the ride became so fast , like a running ceiling fan blade . Princess Shirley was passing near the playground, when she saw Lilley screaming in delight .
“Oma see that witch , she’s enjoying herself there , let’s go and chase her away.” Shirley said , pulling her friends towards the play ground.
“But Shirley why can’t we let her be ? She has never done anything to hurt you , you just keep hurting her .” Lillian said with a grumpy look on her face .
“Sister Mary if you don’t like what we do , find yourself a new set of friends.” Oma said , as she took Shirley’s hand , they walked to the edge of the playground.
“Stop the ride now you witch!” Shirley commanded , she was returning from the cafeteria with her friends , where they went for a quick snack .
“Stop this ride Lilley are you insane ? I’ll slap out your teeth if you don’t stop this ride this very instant!’ She barked placing her hands on her waist like an old woman.
“Nobody should listen to her.” the big girl said , she kept swirling the machine “Are you Lilley ?”Judith asked , Lilley .
“Why do you let her bully you ? Because she’s a princess ? If she talks rudely to you fight her , there’s nothing her father can do .” Judith said , still spinning the wheels , Shirley got enraged that somebody in the school could defy her .”Lilley if you don’t tell that big bread to stop that ride , I’ll tell Mrs Choima you wrote a love letter to Elvis !” Shirley said , she was blackmailing Lilley with a fantasy letter she had written to the cutest boy in their class , begging him to be here friend. the note had fallen off Lilley’s book when Shirley and Oma were bullying her ,inside the classroom when everyone else was out for break .
Lilley stopped the tweaking ride ,a girl sharing the ride with Lilley refused to get down of the ride. She climbed down of the ride “Why are you letting this girl bully you ?” the Judith asked , Lilley couldn’t say a word she ran away ,the girl was mla mountain beside Shirley, told the other kid to stay, but Gideon , Shirley climbed into the ride,with Lillian and Oma, the big girl stared at Shirley with so much disdain .
Lilley walked away from the play ground with a teary eyes, Gideon followed behind her ,she could hear the loud laughter from the play ground , Shirley joyful screams made her cry the more . “Stop crying Lilley , she cannot bully you forever, stand up to her , she’ll let go of you .” Gideon said , Lilley nodded ,but had no word to say.
At the play ground ,The Merry Go Round, suddenly picked momentum, the joyful laughter of the six kids on the ride turned into screams of horror .
“Stop the ride it’s going too fast!” Shirley screamed , she dreaded the ride , she just got on it to spite Lilley , she was already regretting stepping on the ride . Judith ignored Shirley with all her energy she tried to stop the ride ,but the speed only increased , as if a mechanical motor was added to it , it began to dangle from side to side , but it only kept increasing speed.
The security men ran into the fenced area of the area of the playground, there was absolute nothing they could do to stop the ride , they had never seen it run so fast , the iron bars holding the ride gave way ,there was a loud thudding sound followed by a loud banging sound as the circular ride sent its occupants flying into the air , the security men were knocked to the ground , by the flying bodies ,the kids flew to the marsh net that surrounded the play ground ,some crashed into other play ground equipment .
Princess landed badly on her head ,her neck snapped, arms and legs were twisted counterclockwise , she lay dead on the ground, blood was sipping out of her nose , Lillian had dragged herself to a sitting position, her arms were twisted so badly that it looked almost like nylon . Judith the big girl who stood up to Shirley lay at the middle of the playground, the long rod had come off the foot of the ride impaled her , it burst open her chest , from the front to the back , Oma’s skull was burst opened, white substances from brain spilled all over the ground ,a rod opened her neck .
When Lilley heard the cries from the playground, and the crowd that was running to the play ground , she turned back towards the play ground , for a second she saw the carnage that had happened, in a place she had just left , she was frozen with cold , her legs couldn’t move , two other kids lay on the ground unconscious, the two security men where also knocked out cold .
“Go back to your classes children, turn back to your classes!” the security men directed the pupils back to their classes . Mrs Melinda was distraught, she had pulled off her high heels , she ran barefooted to the play ground.
She had received a call from one of the security men at the play ground , she was dumbfounded by the level of havoc , she dropped to her knees .
“Jesus what is this ? Jesus what is this ?” she said as she sat on the ground pulling her wig off , she cried like a baby , more teachers poured into the play ground , they all bursted into tears.
An ambulance was called into the school , the three corpses were taken to the mortuary, two fatally wounded girls were taken to the hospital . Lilley was soaked in tears , she and her class mates , Mrs Chioma covered her head on her desk as she cried , she couldn’t believe what she had seen , though Shirley was a torn in her flesh , she still loved her and all her pupils.
Two hours later , a police van drove into the school , after reviewing the CCTV footage , Mrs Melinda and some security guard on duties where taken away by the police .
They all couldn’t explain who the masked man who wore a big teddy bear costume , got into the compound and tampered on the Merry Go Round, just a day earlier .
The security men who had responded to noise from the locked playground, were arrested .
The Prince of Aboraha kingdom was pissed at the negligence of the school to protect his daughter . He swore to make sure neither Mrs Melinda and Boys remained in prison for taking his most precious gift from him , Shirley was his only girl child, in the midst of his six sons .
Academic activities were grounded for the day , the school was closed down by the police to make sure the evidences were not tempered with .
