THE EVIL TEDDY Episode 15 – The Mystery Man
“Let me go I want to go and see my children , I didn’t attack my wife , why would I attack Jessy , she means the world to me .” Michael said sobbing at the force Criminal Investigation department. He had called his in-laws , to inform them of the sad occurrence that had happened to his wife .
Senator Boniface Bricks couldn’t hear such nonsensical rubbish, the security man at the gate was picked up , then Michael was immediately taken into custody.
”You see Mr Michael you could be doing so well financially, and business wise , but we’ve seen men who at first appeared to be nice caring husbands turn out to be cold hearted murderers, who killed their wife’s , so they don’t have to share property .” The plain clothes police man said to Michael , they were sitting inside the interview room , Michael’s hand was in brightly glittering handcuffs, tears falling from his eyes .
“Sir I blame myself for this .” Michael said , the police man nodded thinking they were getting a confession. “There’s this Teddy bear I got for my daughter about three years ago, this teddy has been causing issues in my house , My ten years old daughter has been telling us of the Teddy attacking her , she wanted us to give it away , but I refused because it cost so much money , five hundred thousand…” The police man disrupted Michael.
“Come on Michael you can come up with a better believable story , not this at all , you expect me to believe the story you just said now ? a Teddy stabbed your wife fifteen times and slashed her neck ? you can try to fool others you cannot fool me , if you cannot say the truth , we’ll make sure you never get to see your children again .” the plain clothes officer gathered his files and stormed out of the interrogation room , Michael sat with head bowed , his cuffed hands rested on the table .
Soon men of the Nigerian Prisons came to pick him and take him to Kuje on remind custody.
Becky and her husband had picked Lilley and Edward from their schools to her parents Mansion in Asokoro , Mr and Mrs Bricks were on vacation in the Bahamas when they got the call about their daughter’s attack , they flew back into Nigeria that very night , the senator had a private jet.
When he saw his daughter’s situation he ordered for Michael’s arrest, refusing to listen to the pleas of his in-laws, Jessica was just a vegetable, the doctors had told them to take her off life support so she could peacefully pass away, because she was brain dead , the life machine was the only thing keeping her alive , but he vehemently refused and said he didn’t care how much the life machine was , that his daughter must be kept breathing .
A nanny was immediately employed for Edwards, one two weeks later, Lilley had gone back with her aunt and the nanny to pick their school books and uniforms, Senator Bricks sent a police detail to escort them , the house had been cleaned up after investigation was completed. The police man waited inside the car , while Lilley ,the nanny and aunt Becky went into the house.
Lilley went into her room to get her school wears ,she met Eddie standing at the far corner of the room , he heard a smirk on his face . “Did you miss me ?” He asked arms stretched out to embrace Lilley the girl screamed . “Lilley I told you , you cannot dump me , Your mother tried to come in between , see where it landed her, I told you I’ll kill her . You have to take me back to your grandparents house .” Eddie said .
“Never in your dreams! You’ve done your worst! what more can you do?” Lilley asked the Teddy,Eddie chuckled. “I am an evil spirit and you ask me what I can do ?” Eddie asked laughing. “I can kill your dearly beloved brother Eddie! I will kill your aunt and her two boys , I’ll follow your dad to the prison and kill him , I’ll kill your grandparents I’ll kill everyone you want , so you can finally love me as you had loved me before .” Eddie said , he has stopped laughing.
“Eddie you’re the devil!” Lilley said , Eddie chuckled. “No am not the devil am just Camila…” The door burst open ,Eddie fell on the ground and acted as if it wasn’t just talking a few seconds ago .
“Lilley are you Okay ?” Becky asked , Lilley nodded . “I heard you talking to someone who was it ?” Becky asked .
“I was talking to my Teddy .” Lilley said . “I heard a second voice, does your teddy talk back ?” Becky asked , Lilley went quiet . “please be fast , we need to return grandpas house .” Becky said , Eddie got up from the ground .
“Now will you take me with you ? or you want me to finish off what I started ?” Eddie said chuckling, Lilley raised the oversized bear off the ground , she put it in the back seat of the SUV , in a male voice Eddie said .”Thank you Lilley you’re my girl .” Eddie said relaxing his head on the back rest .
The driver stared at the Teddy , wondering if he had just watched a teddy bear speak .
Becky and the Nanny brought Edward’s stuff to car , Lilley brought her uniforms and sports wears ,they soon left the abandoned mansion, two police men were brought to guard the gate .
.Edward had been crying to see Jessica, but they couldn’t explain to the two years old boy that his mother was in comatose, Lilley left Eddie in the car , but couldn’t tell how he got himself into her room.
The coming of Eddie marked the end of Peace in the Senator’s house. The senator was sitting in front of the television listening to the evening news , with a newspaper in front of him, when suddenly the news paper was snatched from his arms and torn to pieces by an invisible hand , he was bamboozled.
Another evening he was going through breaking news feed on his pad, a glass of red wine sat by his side , he took his face for a minute from his pad , he stretched his hand to pick the glass of red wine , the glass exploded right in front of him.
“Rose come and see what am experiencing.” he called to his wife , She was just a few couches away , eyes glued on her phone , she came to her husband.
“See the glass cup just exploded on it’s own .” He said . “Well honey it might just be that the glass is too old , let me get you another one from the kitchen.” She was about to leave when the bottle of wine that was resting on a glass stool exploded sending splinters in all directions, some hitting him in the face, he began to bleed .
“My God Boniface what the devil is this ?” Rose said putting her handkerchief on her husband’s face . When Lilley and Edward arrived at their grandparents house, the Senator sat her down and had a one on one discussion with her ,trying to find how her parents had been living at home, to find a reason why Michael would attack his daughter.
“So Lilley did your mum and dad use to fight a lot at home?” Mr Bricks asked,Lilley shook her head . “Then why did your dad stab your mum so many times.” He asked ,Lilley looked straight at her grandfather in the eyes .
“My daddy didn’t attack my mum , it was Eddie , he told me he would hurt mum and Edward,that he wanted me to himself or herself .” The senator shook his head on disbelief.
“Lilley you’re imagining things , you don’t want your dad to pay for what he did to your mom.” The Senator Said , Lilley just sat there staring at him .
The senator was wondering if the attack had anything to do with the teddy bear , but Rose told him to stop being superstitious, believing it was the teddy would mean they agreed with Michael that it was the teddy that attacked their daughter.
A set of girls took it upon themselves to harass Lilley, calling her bizarre names for the last episode she had in school earlier that term , she was mad at them , but couldn’t do anything about it , because they were much bigger than her and were seniors so she ate her pains .
But Eddie took It upon itself , the first of the three girls was walking down the staircase, when Eddie made two steps disappeared , she fell and broke her two legs , she wept like a baby , the school ambulance had to rush her to a hospital, her legs were hanging loose.
The next day Eddie moved to the second girl , she had been standing on the second floor corridor , leaning on the rail ,she was holding a flask that had cold water in it , she emptied the content of the water on Lilley while she walked passed under , Lilley rushed to her locker to get a new suit ,before she would get out of the locker room , a crowd had gathered around the front of school .
She tried to know what had happened, she was told that the girl who had just poured water on her had fallen to her death when the rail she was leaning on gave way . Lilley ran to her class , she knew it was Eddie ,she couldn’t wait to get how .
She began to wonder if it was Eddie who had killed Shirley and her friends . School activities was disrupted that day , the school was closed much earlier than usual , the school bus dropped her outside her grandparents home , Lilley ran into the house not greeting anyone , she went up to her room ,she saw Eddie sitting on the bed ,legs crossed over each other, arms folded behind its head , Eddie was relaxing.
“Eddie why did you kill the girl?” Lilley cried , Eddie simply chuckled, but didn’t reply the angry girl . “Wherever you came from please go back and leave me alone, did you also kill Shirley and Oma ?” She asked .
“Oh Lilley don’t lie as if you didn’t enjoy the peace that came from their deaths , you knew peace.” Eddie said . “I would never wish anyone death , not my worst enemy! You’re just a psychopathic murderer you’re nothing more than that! don’t kill anyone for me !” A strong wind blew Lilley off her feet, it slammed her against the door , the banging sound reverberated around the house , Camila appeared , her hands pointed at Lilley she began to float , blood dripping from her nose.
“Lilley! you think this is all about you ? this world doesn’t revolve around you , sometimes things happen beyond our explanation.” Camila said , she was floating in the air as Lilley sat on the floor too weak to stand , she could see through Camila , she was like a translucent human . “I am a very possessive and vengeful spirit , I had failed in my duty one hundred and twenty years ago , I didn’t protect my sister , and myself , because I had no powers , now am supernatural, I cannot die , I will definitely protect any bullied child I am in contact with . Shut up your mouth and let me do my thing!” Camila yelled still floating in the air .
“Why did you hurt Gideon he was my friend! why did you hurt Judith ? she protected me
” Lilley said to the spirit, Camila went into the teddy, Lilley got up from the ground, and wiped the blood from her nose with a handkerchief. “I killed Judith because she got too close to becoming your friend , and you would have forgotten about me , the other girl was collateral damage , she was at the wrong place at the wrong time . Then for Gideon that boy took all the attention, Gideon this , Gideon that , you caused his death .” Eddie said .
“You cannot love anyone , I’ll kill them , I am your teddy, I am your love.” Eddie went into sleep mode when he heard the soft knocking of Rose , Lilley’s grand mother .
“Lilley are you Okay ? I was hearing so much noise from your room .” The fair woman with silver colored hair asked , Lilley smiled at her .
“Am fine Grandma I fell wardrobe trying to get my Teddy.” Lilley said , Grandma spoke with her for a while before going downstairs.
