TEMI {MINE} Episode 24
Written by Anthony Temiloluwa Kenny (Saintkenz)
Eliza’s journey to her home had resulted to be a severely adverse and crappy one. She had never thought she would get home to meet everything fallen apart.
Though when she arrived at the town. Sge had had this sundry feelings of an unpleasant mystique but just coudnt channel it towards what she later discovered. She tried to imagine what her mum’s reaction would bewray. Is she going to face benignity from her mum just like the biblical prodigal son ? Or otherwise come across her umbrage once again. Anyways, she had prepared for either of the two or probably both of them.
Eliza spent millenary at the gate claxoning irritatingly as she expected Koffi there gateman to answer and ram the gate open for her. Koffi failing to open the gate got her indignant as she yanked the door of car opened and thrust her gravid body outside to do justice by her voice.
She was about to yell out Koffi’s name when the pedestarian side of the huge gate flang open.
“Ohh, Mum probably have a visitor” she muttered before greeting “Good Afternoon ma”
“Yeah, afternoon my dear. What can i do for you”? A fair avoirdupous woman replied Eliza. The woman with an aura of affluence and riches had the look of the same age with her mother, and that confirmed to her that she was just a visitor.
Eliza smiled at the question “What can i do for you ?” Well, she cant really blame her, she just isn’t aware she is the daughter of her friend she came to visit.
“I’m, the daughter of Mrs Badejo the owner of the house.” Eliza declared with plume and amour propre.
“Oh you” The avoirdupous woman said unmoved. And by that time, Eliza was sure that was not what she expected. She had expected to see the woman flinch in surprisal. Nevertheless, the woman was still surprise though, but not the type Eliza anticipated for.
“So you are the one ?, you did this ? the woman spielled with vehemence, luffing towards Eliza with her right index finger.
Now Eliza was scared. The woman’s reponse upon knowing her had already sent waves of shiver running down her spine.
“Whats happening, what did i do ?” Eliza quailled out.
“You killed your mother!” The woman erupted. ” your mother die in the most abject and contemptible manner have ever seen. She died on the street like an homeless begger all because of your unwary and naive mindset that made you abscond with such huge amount of money.” The woman staunched her talk for some milliseconds, respirating heavily to gather enough strenght to continue her profane chastisement.
“I bought this house at auction price from a bank that gave your mom a loan of just 8 million naira while you eloped with 50 million naira. It was when your mother coudn’t refund the money, they had to put this house for sale. Your mum was thrown out of her house like a dog on the street. Few weeks after i bought the house, she walked back here and gave me a letter to give you. She said she believes someday, you will return. Having collected the letter, i thought probably she only gave her new residential address incase you return. But curiosity wouldnt allow me rest, so i tore the letter opened and read. It was then i found out that your mother had poisoned herself before coming to drop the letter with me. I tried to trace her steps and i later found crowd assembled at the next junction there. I was very eager to find your mum, probably to save her, but then i was still curious to see the reason the crowd gathered. I decided to see the reason, so i tore through the multitude of people, and when i saw the reason, i almost fainted. I saw your mum , Mrs Busayo Badejo sprawled on the floor with blood oozing out from her nose and mouth” Eliza ..you killed your mother. Your mother died missing her beloved daughter, also from the pain and debt you incured on her. She made it known in the letter that she couldn’t stand the pain of knowing you are gone. So she had to do what she did. But all the same, she claimed she still loves you and also forgiven you.” the woman finished and waggled her elephantine shape inside the compound.
After listening to all what the woman peached out, Eliza was sure she was going to faint or likely die or even go harebrained. She tried to breath, but it seemed nature had snatched oxygen away from her. Her eyes wanted to cry, but there was no tears in her eyes. The pain, guilt and anguish she felt at that moment had sucked all the h20 in her body system. Her blood too had become hot and blistering pitilessly. She regretted the day she eloped with Dami. “So mum is dead ?, Mrs Badejo is dead!”
“Yes, she is dead and you killed her. Take the letter she asked me to give you” the woman wambled again towards Eliza flinging the partially sealed paper to her before disappearing into her compound.
Eliza squatted to reach at the paper on the floor, and the first thing that greeted her eyes on opening it was “Eliza my daughter, if you are reading then know certainly that is too late”
“So mother did not live to know she actually got pregnant and expecting a baby boy ?” So mother did not live to eat the fruit of her labour all this while ?” It seemed the pain had gave way for the tears in her now, as she poured them uncontrollably. Not only her eyes cried, all her body system spliced together as they also wailed too.
Well, like they say, it wouldn’t get that bad without at least having a companion inform of asylum or refuge. As Eliza drove back to Abeokuta, the reality of whom she had become dawned on her. She is now an orphan, with nobody, No family, no relation.
But all the same, tiny traces of hope and happiness illumined her when she remembered she still has Dami. The love of her life. “Dami will replace everybody she has lost in her life. To her death can have everybody in the world, but not her Damilola. He is the only reason she lives. He is her oxygen…”
TEMI {MINE} Episode 25
The journey back to Abeokuta proofed to be a languid one as Eliza kept recalling the past events of her life. There was no bias she had been left in care of Dami and at that moment, all she felicitated about was to get home, touch him, hug him, kiss him and have him whisper those lovesome promises and words that always subdue her tumultuous state before laying on his shoulder through out the night. But alas! Story didnt play well the way she envisaged, Eliza got home to meet the shocker of her life. Something that changed her forever.
“Damiii” Eliza yelled out immediately she trotted inside their massive sitting room. She had expected to meet a lull and dovish environs, but what she met had her cringed in disappointments.
“Who are these people” Eliza threw questions at Dami,,while prying Racheal and her friends obnoxiously.
But Dami didnt say a thing, he only stood empale.
“Are you deaf ? Eliza continued her rants. She was good to know she wasn’t enjoying the climax a bit now. She had dreamt of reaching home to have a prismatic night with Dami, a night that will evanesce all her hagridden mind, not a night of onslaught she was about to enter. “So because i left today, you thought the next thing to do was to bring in these *whores* to our house -Eliza greatest mistakes was that.
“So who are the whores ?” Racheal’s voice quickly retaliated. Eliza was about opening her mouth to say something when “Paaa Paaa” two igneous slaps erupted on her face. “Lesson number dont be rude to strangers” Racheal growled.
Eliza grasped her chubby cheek for the minimum of seven seconds before convalescing from the hurting of the unexpected slap. She raised her crimson misty eyes to look at her predators before tilting it towards Dami side. She expected Dami to react, to avenge her and punish the girl who hit her, but Dami still didnt move an inch from where he stood for ages.
“Dami” ELiza yelled out but almost like a whisper, “She hi i i t me and you are there doing nothing” Eliza stuttered making the three girls burst into a wild snigger more to infuriate her.
Eliza wanted to eschew, but the impulse to take revenge of herself became more grounded, she exhorted herself, and raised her feeble hand to return the slaps Racheal gave her, hands were snapped in the air, but this time arround by one of Racheal’s friends, and with a swift hard smash plunked on Eliza’s face again, spittle sloshed out from her mouth like someone in throes of convulsion. She sprawled on the floor like a defeated lion. And exuded her own breath.
Eliza was pained. She looked at Dami again for support and assylum, but he was still standing on his feet totally unmoved.
“Eliza or whatever you call your name, incase you dont know i’m in the new woman in Dami’s life, so don’t you dare call me a whore. As a matter of fact, few months from now i will be his legal wife and also carry that thing in your stomach” Racheal voiced derisively making Eliza to cast a look on Dami. A look that meant Dami should tell Racheal was just bluffing.
“I’m sorry about this” Dami nodded.
Eliza cowered, hearing Dami talked. Dami response reasserted to her that she was now a lonesome and a jilted lover.
“So this is what is all about, or this where is going to end ? Everything you said, this where they will end ? All your promises,?” Eliza made to remove the neckline Dami gave her. “You have forgotten this eh ? You have forgotten the vows you made ?, Dami you told me this morning you will be the father of Temi, have u forgotten so soon ? Plss say something, say something, i lost everyone, everything because of you. My mum died like a pauper on the street because of you..i left Tunde because of you, now you think treating me this way is the best to repay me ? Say something Dami. I showed you true love, you want repay me by betraying me” Eliza begged with eyes full of tears and heart full of pain. She felt used, exploited and dumped.
“Time over bitch, now you have to exit this place this minute.” Racheal and her friends lunged towards her and made to hauled her out the sitting room. Eliza stiffened herself on Dami’s feet.
“Dammi Nooo! Noo! Plss. Don’t let them throw me away, i dont have anybody again, my mum is dead.,you are the only one i have left, plss dont! Plss..i still love you plssss” Eliza wailed incessaantly, tightning her grip on Dami’s feet. Dami bent to relinquish her hold and unclasped his leg from her hand, while Racheal and her friends hoisted her up and threw her outside the compound. Eliza winced in anguish, as she landed with thud on tiled floor, her head also bashing the hard floor, releasing large volume of blood spillage out of her head. Racheal and friends was about entering the sitting room when Dami yelled out ” she still got my car key”
Racheal veered back immediately and straggled Eliza’s head. “You wana steal this away like you stole Tunde away from me” she scoffed out with the most wicked look on her face as she throttled Eliza’s hand to snatch the key to the car Dami bought for her. After colecting it, she released her head, making Eliza gasped for breath. She dragged Eliza while she was still recuperating on the floor outside the main compound and shut the gate against her.
“Good bye bitch” she flouted.
Eliza tried to stand up, but the acute pain arrested all her abdomen, blood still sploshing out from her mouth and forehead. She shook her head affirming that was her worst day. The day she knew about her mum’s death and the day she was betrayed by her baby.
What a pity.
Eliza felt drop of water on her skin, she looked to decipher where the waters came from but didnt get a lead. Another drop made her gaze to the sky, then she saw that it had started raining. She tried to search for any nearby enclosure to cowl herself, but she couldn’t locate any instantly. So she receded and gave up on her search for solace.
She fixed the neckline Dami gave her back to her neck, then gathered two big stones, before laying on the musty stinky floor using the stones as a pillow. Shivering uncontrolably and crying bitterly as the rain poured heavily straight on her head. …
Dr. Banji woke up with a glunch face. A face that depicted how seemingly he had escaped a dreadnaught or some sort in his dream. He took a quick glance at the wall clock ticking away the time noislessly. It was 12 o’clock. He resiled his eyes back to his wife sleeping beside him, before planting a kiss on her forehead.
Then he stood on his feet, groped for his phone and prowled out of the room. He needed to confirm everything was okay before returning back to slumber. To be candid, Dr Banji was scared to bone. He hated it when he dreamt. He uncorked the door to the room laying conterminous the master bedroom he left and crept himself in.
“Daddy” a wane voice of a fair skin, 3 years old attractive tiddler cooed out.
“Derick, you arent sleeping” Dr.Banji muttered pawing the forehead of the young lad. His son.
“No daddy, and you? What are you doing here ?”
“No Derick, i came to check on you. I dont want any bad guy coming near you. You Know i love you so much.” Dr Banji sang out to his son who seemed so naive.
Dr Banji had always insisted his wife and child should stay abroad, giving a flimsy escuses that he didnt want his son to grow up with black mentality. The woman had obliged at first, relocated to Switzerland. But she later had reason that staying there for more than two years was a gateway to disperse her home. She had no choice again than to breach her husband’s silly preference of her staying abroad and decided to moved in with her son back to her husband’s home.
“Ok. Thank you daddy. Am i still going to see Santa tomorrow ?” Uncle told me Santa is coming from Jerusalem tomorrow, Daddy i want to see him” Derick grizzled out naively like an infant and neonant he was snapping Dr.Banji’s mind to sanity. He had totally forgotten tomorrow was December 25th.
December 25ths shouldn’t be a day his frivolous mind should pretermit due to the cogency it carried. But the pleasure and comfort of the earlier months always made the day seemed like a thousand years to come. To the world, December 25th was a Chrismas Day, but to Dr.Banji and his orphic associates, it was absolutely a different day.
“Dont worry prince, mum will take you to see him tomorrow.” Dr.Banji muttered to his son as he rubbernecked and watched how sleep erred him back to his unconsciouness.
Dr Banji returned his furrowed face, too many thing popping through his head. First he had a dream that unleashed the fearfulness in him. And though Dr.Banji was a brave and valiant but he was also a heinous fellow with just only one shortfall, which was his his dream. He rarely had dreams, but when he did, then something was not right. He had phobia for his dreams. His dreams usually carried a great significant and not even when he had same dream thrice.
“Ring Ring” his phone blared out piercing the silence of the night. Dr. Banji looked at his sleeping son to make sure he wasn’t disrupted.
“Don Pen speak” Dr.Banji yelled out as soundlessly he could.
“I call to deliver a message from the great SAGUTARYAM. Don Ban” The caller oozed out maintaining the same liaison.
“Don Ban” was Dr. Banji ‘s appellation right from the first day he ligated with “THE SAGUTARYRS” umteen years back. A deucedly mammon but self acclaimed wealthy group.
“Speak, i listen” Dr. Banji yelled out again.
“According to great Sagutaryam, Danger looms on your head Don Ban. A child is about to be born, a child full of transmundane halo. Don Ban, if this child mistakenly lives, then he will be your peril and all your household. He will be your inevitable doom. The child must not Live! ,the great Sagutaryam will lead the woman and her foetus to you in no time and when he does, you will know by your magic ring. make sure you silence the the doom. Your doom. Do you understand the message of the great Sagutaryam ?” The caller queried ?
“I hear and understand the great one Sagutaryam, Don Pen” Dr.Banji answered.
“And don’t forget your sacfrice tomorrow, The great Sagutaryam is thirsty, he wants to drink to his fill tomrrow. So do quick and quench the thirst”
“I hear you” Dr.Banji replied again before dropping the call. He was sure his head was about to split and burst forth as it kept navigating the multifarious task wobbling in. And even though Don Pen’s call had explained his dream, still he had a deadline to meet tomorrow.
Since his arrival at Abeokuta 3 years ago, he had not redeemed his pledge on the ground that of counterbalance the coming year. Now it was already mandated to reinstate his pledge unfailinly this time, he had to recuperate it with enough quantity of blood from three male children. So how on hell will he ensnare his next victims before the tiny time frame ? Well the remaining few hours will tell.
“Hello Racheal” Dr. Banji talked to the phone at the first beep.
“See uncle, i arranged a stalker who has been helping me sneak on this bitch of a girl. Em em Eliza, and now he called that she is already in labour pain, so i asked her to bring her to your hospital now.” Racheal rasped out.
“Ohh really, thats a good one. I will see to that. But what did you call the name of the lady ? ”
“Eliza” Racheal affirmed
“Okay thanks. Your info really came in a good time.” Dr.Banji blurted before ending the phone call.
“Eliza” Dr. Banji muttered while in deep thought. His clairvoyance seemed to be working and had confirmed to him that Eliza was the mother of his doom. Anyways, his ring wont confute him. He just wished Sagutaryam accepts female’s blood too, then the Eliza and her baby would be good to go.
“If you Eliza is the mother of my doom, then Dead! You two are gone!” Dr Banji raved “Thank you Sagutaryam” he smirked evil as he pranced towards the door to exit.
“Are you a bad guy” Derick’s voice wafting out skidded his father’s movement. He fawned his face at the impromptu question.
“Why the question prince” he uttered while still backing his son.
“Because i heard you when you said dead. And uncle tells me that only a bad guy can make someone to die” Derick naively said.
Dr.Banji cerebrated with an evil grin. Bad is an understatement for him, not when he had lost counts of homes he had hurt, homes he had exterminated and male children he killed for his vicious sacrifices and the ones he was about to do.
He veered back to his son’s bedside and caressed his face with his sinister smirk.
“Prince.. I’m only trying to protect your future, our future. I’m not the bad type okay ”
“okay daddy” Derick voiced.
“Aii prince, daddy has important things to attend to now. So go back to sleep”
“ok”
Dr Banji stood erect as he punched his phone.
“Yapp! I need you guys in Abeokuta today, and when coming, come with two specimen M. I need them alive. Address of your destination will be sent to you shortly” Dr. Banji talked to unknown on his phone.
