He had envisioned it that loving Eliza would mount an escape route for him to success, but now all he saw was like a jet flying him back to the junk he belonged to. How funny could life be ? When you are at the verge of achieving your heart desires, then life displays it disapproval. What a life of misery! A life of misfortune.

“Oga aade, no vex me oo if u no won make i wire you slap” a peremptory short black guy shouted at Dami while charging him up with his ratty feet. The man looked like an updated crook with his bushy hair, black face and brown eyes. His teeth were partially white but the two incisors were strongly black, and it always gave him a look of a crook or an intrepid person.

Dami woke up in the umpteenth time to face the look that remembered him that he was still in the dungeon called a police cell. The place that made him felt he had lost the Eliza, the love of his life. The place that made him realised he was about to be thrown back to the scum he belonged to. The place where he had no tiny hope of even making it out there alive.

“Wetin i do again .. Ki ni mo sehh ? He voiced out like toddler afraid of being hit by a bully

“So you wan talk say you no know wetin you do abii” the crook guy replied with stern look on his face while revealing his black incisors.

“i no know ooh”

“No wahala na, if u like make u snore again, na your face i go turn to jabulani… If i noo kick that your mouth wey u go take snore for u make you call me bastard” He replied again displaying that malign look that would make one not to think twice before mistaking him for a devil.

“Na you sabi” Dami said as he realised he had been snoring, and that was what probably roused up the rage of the rowdy guy. He sad up resting his bear back at the wall. He was tired of sleeping, his eyes now ached, about to make their own complaint. He had not spent three days in the dungeon, yet his physical appearance had already limned a felon who had spent 100 decades in it. His skin was red now as a result of excessive abrasion while his beard was matured to tell that it hadnt been shaped for four days. His hair was deadlocked and brown like it was infected with dust substances. He flipped his tongue to touch his teeth so as to feel how stale it was. He hadnt brush for two days now.

“Oga abeg wetin be time, help me check time abeg” Dami voiced out to the lanky constable passing by his cell. Dami’s question seemed to nark him and he was ready to lyned him with words. He stopped abruptly and began.

“Na time you dey ask soo ? Answer na.. Sorii ooh seh you na get appointment nii abii you won carry your bae wey put you for this wahala go date for this place wey u day. ? Yeye pikin, instead make you ask for today’s date make you start they counts the years wey you spend for this place .. Wetin i dey talk, sebi one na say if you no PAAYINN.. Foolish boy dey ask time.. For ur info.. Na just two days remain make dem decide wetin dem qo do for you. You betta pray to baba God to rescue your head. make he you no die for where you dey . Odeee ” The lanky constable spewed out before he left, giving Dami a silence pill.

Everything he emmited made him realised that there was no hope for him. Nobody knew where he was, his madam had taken her action on him calculatively. Needless to say, he knew Nigeria is a country who had swopped honesty and integrity with impairment and corruption. He had heard alot of stories about innocent people dying in substitute of the guilty, convicted but rich enough to buy their pseud freedom. His spine shivered as he prayed he shouldnt be a victim of such circumstance.

But her madams was the one who knows where he was and the hope he has. But since he was the only incumbrance on her way to achieve her avid desire, so he was as good as dead.

“Where is Dami ?” Eliza asked her mother. She couldn’t hold it anylonger, she hadn’t seen Dami for two days without any traces of where of his where about. Needlessly, she knew her mother was the only one to give answer to that. She felt her pride melted as she approached mum who was resting her big bum on one the sofas

“You mean my employee ? The driver ? Ordinary driver ? The last time i checked i was the reason why he was in the house, so therefore with a snap of my fingers, i can throw him back to the scum he belongs to. I can decide his fate in which i will do in no time. Dami is like my creation i can do to him whatever pleases me” she voiced out those words derisively ,which in milliseconds had boiled up Eliza’s rage up to 100 degrees centigrade

” Motheerr! Why are you this callous ? Why do you enjoy ruining my happiness.. I regret having you as a mother… I hate you! I detest you!.. I despise you! You called your self a creator ?? Good Lord …. I swear i you suppose to be shot five times straight in the forehead, i can ..”

” Shut up young fool or i will do that for you myself. Dont be so insolent because of that good for nothing sake gold digger…”

“But he is not a …”

“I said shut up! Okay fine now i will know if you truly love that filthy thing you called your happiness.” She stood on her feet with a wine glass filled up with juice in her hand. She looked straight into Eliza’s eyes with an impression she want to a have serious conversation.

“Dami is in my custody, still breathing, though you guys can never meet again, but the his continuous respiration lies in your decision.” She paused to stare at Eliza’s eyes furrowed begging for limpidity.

“You have just three days to renounce your love to that young fithy pig and get engaged to Tunde. Failure to do so your Dami dies! But neither of your decision will make you guys see each other again. If you cant renounce, honey i bet your Dami will die without anybody to trace his death..

You see, the last time i said i was his creator, well let me say i was wrong. Because i never created him. I dont know his birth date, but trust me as far as we are here in this country, i can pick his death date effortlessly.” Busayo Badejo voiced out with an atmosphere of confident and fearlessness.

TEMI {MINE} Episode 12

As much as Eliza wanted to say something, she opened her mouth to talk but it seemed her mouth had run out of words or probably some sort of neurosis had buckramed the words in her mouth. All she did was gesticulating like a fresh dumb kid.

Her mother’s impudent approache had revived her long lost revernation she had for her, also given a kind “the fear of mother is the beginning of wisdom.” But even as the fear stood still in her mind, hundred barrel of drums would not contain the oceans of anger, hatred, ire and rage she contained for her.

She carried her grueling self to her room, to have a proper rumimation of the whole impasse. She knew her mom to be hostile sometimes but not to the point of taking another man’s life. Her heart pondered with alot of questions waiting for answers. Could her mother be so extremely impished to the point of kiling Dami ? What has Tunde done to her mum to make her this inconsiderate and visually impaired ? Now she has to repudiate her love for Dami and quilt her relationship with Tunde, what if she is not ready to do that , is Dami going to face death for real ? Ohh God! Why is the only option to save what you cherish most happens to be what will hurt you most ?

Eliza looked drab for some hours with series of questions popping in without getting their answers. It was so obvious that was the state her mother wanted to be compared to her insolence or impertinence. With this state, her mother felt victory on her side.

Her mother knows her weak points, and she enjoyed using them against her to sheer her wish and dominate her victory.

Yappzz! An intent strucked her, an idea that could sober up her mother’s magniloquence. If her mother thought she had succeded in placing her in a quandary, then she would tell her that she could easily manoeuvre her way around. A familiar smile ignited her face once more, as she lept up abrubtly from her bed and prowled her way down to the kitchen.

“If you think you can utilize my weak point so good, but then I guess i am not the only one with a weak point, everyone has, including you mother and i am going to make good use of it now. You are not going to win this battle you started cause i’m not ready to loose. I am not ready to concede.” Eliza thought to herself on her tour to the kitchen looking like a farmished deranged person. Her mother will not think twice before she reverse her puckish velleity and if possible consent to her affair with Dami.

She got to kitchen and hit stoppage. She roamed her head around like a scanner until her eyes met a silver object laying on top of the cabinet. A smiled played on face again, but not a familiar type this time around. It was a dark smile….

“Whats wrong with you Eliza” Busayo asked her daughter with fret on her face, the look she perceived on Eliza was not the type she expected. She had expected to see a compuntive and remorseful Eliza after all her minacious rants but now, what she saw was one thousand metres far from ruefulness. What she saw now, could be simply described as death.

Yes, Eliza eyes glowed with death. Her mind was made up. If she couldn’t have Dami in her life time, then there was nothing worth having in her life then. As far as she was concerned, Dami was the only reason she was breathing, but now that Dami was about to leave, she was ready to go with him.

“Mother …”She began standing, facing her mum with her two hands settled behind her back as if she was holding something, at the same time evading it from her mother’s prying eyes.

“Have had a literal thought about everything, the options you gave me, so i am here to give you your reply”

“Ree e eaallyy” ? Busayo stuttered with a tinct of nosy in her voice.

“Yes mother” Eliza resumed before she sighed.

“Its just unfortunate that none of your options suit me, so, i am opting for a more favourable choice that suits me best”

She knew her mother would not succumb to her demur easily, so she was ready to use her mother’s weak point to pulverize her strong unyielding intent.

And it isnt childplay, if at the process she looses her life, it so good, cause her mum deservers more than the pain she will go through. Eliza thought.

The atmospheric condition in the room at that time could be what they described as hell. Despite the frosty breez blazing out from the air conditioner, the sweat penetrating out from Eliza and her mother’s body could feel the space left by the liquid in atlantic ocean.

But while Eliza felt relaxed and composed as the almighty in control of the situation, her mother felt incognizance. The look on her face had expanded from fretfulness to inquistiveness and curiousness… She wished she could teleport into Eliza mind to know the reason for her weirdness. The girl she thought she had captured her with her words.

“But before i opt to my choice, i still want you to consider what i want.” She paused for some seconds enough to inhale oxygen.

“I want you to release Dami for me, mum”

“And why do you think i will do that for that ingrate ? Heeh ?” Busayo asked with blazing eyes ball, she had started to feel her rage boiling. She was not ready to listen to a mere command from girl.

“Tha tha tha tha ingrate i bought up from the scum, nutured and made him a human, na na na now think the only way to repay me for all my warmhearted gesture towards him is to ….”

” Muummmmmy” Eliza yelled out cuting her mother abruptly,

“Eliza wh hh at is it ? Wha t are you going to do with that” ? Busayo voiced with horrendous trembling under Eliza who was now revealing a long sharpened knife she had since concealed at her back.

“Mom, my life is nothing without Dami in it, he is my life, my happiness, i am not sure if i would escape death after he is gone..cause i am not ready to choose anybody over him even Tunde. So why not kill myself before he dies, because it will be a great pain for me to loose him right before my nose” Eliza gripped knife tightly as her muscle could allow her, she raised it up …

The bundle of wail in the room could not even be traced to either Busayo or Eliza. But one thing so sure was that mother and daughter had started weeping like children creating auditory sounds that could be mistaken for a group mourners.

“Mother, since you dont want me and Dami together, i am sure you cant stop us from where we are about going. There, there will be nobody to interfare, nobody to intervene our love. So plss mother, kindly send to Dami to me in a jiffy, tell him his love is waiting for him over there. Good bye mother” Eliza finished as she let down her hands fleetly as possible to strike her abdomen…

“STOP!” A voice rang out..
