Pinto The Jungle Girl Episode 5 – Blessing-Enejo Abrahams Elleywrites
…”What?!” I asked in exclamation.
“Go! Go phone them to bring him back now!! ” Father said almost screaming.
I raised my head and gave him an ugly stare.
“How long will it take before he’s brought back?” I asked already fuming In anger.
“Maybe… 10…to 12… hours” Dad said stuttering, already feeling so uncomfortable.
“Until then, I will be waiting. If he isn’t brought back by then, you will not believe what I’m capable of” I said and walked out, and went to sit where I initially sat. But Father hurried after me trying to calm me down.
“Pinto, please, forgive me. I never knew that the young lad was my son” He said.
Hearing his voice again made me become more furious.
“How would you know when you abandoned us with Grandma? Aren’t you just ashamed of yourself? Do you know what we’ve been through? We couldn’t even have the kind of life that we wanted simply because Grandma didn’t even have enough money to take care of herself talk more of us. You abandoned us to d!e and here you are living in wealth” I said looking around.
“Even though I don’t wish for this kind of wealth. You trade humans for money?” I quizzed staring at him.
“Pinto, it’s not what you think” He said looking away.
“Then it’s what? I don’t even want to have any business with you. All I need is my brother. I need to take him home” I said.
“You will have your brother. But please, find a place in your heart to forgive me. If you forgive me now, it will be easier for your brother to” He said keeping an innocent face.
“There’s no way I’m ever going to forgive you. Get that into your thick skull” I barked locking stares with him.
He started to pace up and down with a hand on his waist, scratching his head with the other hand. And then, a white woman with two children walked into the compound. As soon as they sighted me from afar, they began to walk slowly to father who was still standing confusedly. And then, the woman hugged Dad tightly but her gaze was still fixed on me. She then walked towards me and turned around, now looking at Dad.
“Where did you get this m@d looking woman from?” She asked.
“I wanted opening my mouth to say something, but had to control myself.
Dad turned slowly, facing her. Rubbed his forehead and then opened his mouth.
“Louisa, that isn’t a m@d woman. That is my daughter, Pinto” Dad said and all of a sudden, the woman’s eyes popped open.
“What? Your daughter? One of those children? ” She quizzed and then busted into laughter, while her children too laughed in chorus.
“Louisa, why are you all laughing at her? She grew up in the jungle, that’s why she’s looking this way. You all should stop making caricature of her” Dad said.
“What? She grew up in the jungle? ” One of the children asked with keen interest, and then approached me.
“Do you know king kong and Judge of the jungle? ” He asked but I looked away.
“If you know what is good for you, better run along to your Mama before I whoop your a$s” I said to him in whispers. And then, his eyes popped open with mouth agape.
“You’ll whoop my a$$?” He questioned looking into my eyes and all of a sudden, he gnashed his teeth.
“Last warning” I said in whispers again and before I knew it, he kicked my leg so hard and then ran to his Mom.

Father and his wife were facing each other at this point, discussing in a very low tone. The other of their children of about 12 years ran back into their car and I saw him approaching from afar with a banana in his hand. I didn’t even know he was coming to me. There was nothing those children did not subject me to. He stood before me and then stretched forth the banana.
“Uhm… Pin… Teen… Tin… ” He kept stuttering looking into the air with a hand on his cheek.
“What’s that your name again? ” He had the ordersity to ask.
“Not again” I muttered to myself.
“Ah ah! That isn’t the name Dad mentioned. What’s your name what’s your name? ” He said again with a hand on his cheek.
“Pinto Pinta” His brother said aloud laughing out so loud.
“Oh yeah, the jungle girl Pinto” The one before me said and started laughing but I looked at him and then looked away.
“Well, take this banana” He said peeling it.
“Let me see you eat it, just like a m0nkey would do pretty girl” He said and he and his brother busted out laughing again but I ignored and didn’t utter a word.
“Take it” He said in a harsh tone but I ignored still.
All of a sudden, he dipped the banana into my mouth and started to force it in.
“Eat it just like a m0nkey jungle girl” He repeated, grinning.
I grabbed his hand, looked into his eyes and then smacked his right cheek.
“I can see your Mama didn’t teach you some manners” I said to him and then he screamed with a hand on his cheek. Father and his Mom turned immediately.
“Ethan, what’s it? ” His Mom questioned at the top of her voice but the boy couldn’t even utter a word. He was just crying, pointed at my hand and then at his face.
“What? What did you do to my child you m@d lady? ” She questioned coming to fight me but Dad immediately grabbed her.
“Louisa, please, no” Dad said still holding her.
“Leave me alone. Let me be@t the hel! out of her. How dare you touch my child with those stinking hands of yours? ” She thundered but I sat there looking at her, expecting her next action.
She withdrew herself from Dad all of a sudden, grabbed her children’s hands and then they all walked to the car, murmuring as they left and then drove off. Dad walked up to me and then squatted before me.
“Pinto, Ethan is your brother” He said.
I looked him in the eyes…
“I give you some hours from now to provide my brother” I said and then looked away. He let out a deep sigh and then left for his office. After a few minutes, a young lady brought a trey of food and dropped it before me but I told her I didn’t want anything.
“Come on, you need to eat something” She said stroking my hair and then I let out a smile.
“Thank you, but I don’t want anything” I said.
She tried talking to me but I wasn’t just interested in all she had to say, all I wanted was Joe my brother.
Later that day after they had closed, Dad wanted me to go home with him to pass the night but I blatantly refused. I sat where I was still sitting till late in the night. Dad couldn’t leave, at a point he offered me his jacket to wear but I refused to take it after I refused to go inside the office with him.
The next morning very early, a man drove in high speed into the compound which made Dad run out of his office. It was one of his workers.
“Good morning sir” He said as soon as he walked up to Dad.
“Yes, what is it? ” Dad quizzed curiously.
“The jungle boy sir, their ship capsized on their way to India, no one survived sir” He said with hands behind him.
“What?! ” I exclaimed, walked quietly into Dad’s office leaving them outside.
I had sighted a lighter on Dad’s table the previous day. I went, picked it up and then lit a few papers up in his office, and then I walked back out…
