EPISODE THREE
MY HUSBAND’S SECOND WIFE
( that which you seek, you shall find in abundance)

By the time they arrived at Solomon’s mansion, all thoughts of running away vanished from Anita’s mind. In all her years, she had never seen a house so big and beautiful.

Solomon parked his car and stepped out, followed by Anita and his mother.

Anita’s mouth fell open in awe as she took in the surroundings. When her gaze landed on the garage, her eyes widened in shock at the number of cars—all the latest models. Although Mama had mentioned that the husband she had arranged for her was wealthy and involved in politics, Anita had never imagined this level of wealth.

“Mehn! I’m here to stay,” she thought to herself.

“Come inside and stop staring like a fool,” Mama snapped. Then she added, “This is your husband’s house now. If you behave and give him a son first, you will enjoy it for the rest of your life.”

Those words alone filled Anita with excitement. She had always detested working, preferring to reap where she did not sow. And now, she has hit the jackpot—more than she ever dreamed. She could hardly wait to update her social media.

“I’ll do just as you say, Mama,” she replied with a smile as they walked inside. Behind them, the gateman followed, dragging Anita’s luggage.

Meanwhile, Solomon, in no mood for conversation, headed straight to his bedroom upstairs to freshen up. For the first time in a long while, he felt strange sleeping alone without his wife.

After staring at the empty bed for a moment, he sighed and stepped into the bathroom. He wasn’t surprised to see that the housekeeper had already cleaned up the blood. Earlier that day, he had lost his temper and beaten his wife in the bathroom, causing her to have a miscarriage.

As he took his bath, Solomon couldn’t stop wondering how he had become like his father when it came to beating a woman.

Growing up, he had watched his father constantly abuse his mother, and for a long time, he believed that was the right way to discipline a wife. But now, he wasn’t so sure.

What if Winnie decided to divorce him?

After all, she hadn’t even reacted when Mama brought that strange woman and introduced her as his second wife. He had expected Winnie to protest, to fight back—but she hadn’t. Maybe she was against it but just didn’t want to show it.

Or maybe…

Solomon was still lost in thought when the bathroom door suddenly creaked open. His eyes snapped up just in time to see Anita step inside, a towel wrapped around her body.

“What are you—” The words caught in his throat when Anita let the towel slip to the floor.

“I thought I could join you for a shower as your new beautiful wife… and also apologize for what happened earlier today,” Anita said, curling her lips into a slight smile as she stepped closer to Solomon under the warm spray.

Too stunned to respond, Solomon’s gaze was locked on her curvy hips. The willpower he had moments ago vanished into thin air. After all, his mother had already declared Anita his second wife—so technically, it wasn’t a crime, right?

With that thought, he grabbed the young woman and pulled her close. Anita chuckled softly, wrapping her arms around him. Deep inside, she felt victorious. If she could bear him a son, her place in this house would be secured. In time, everything would become hers.

The next morning, Solomon woke up at his usual time—4:30 AM. He might have been an abusive man, but he took his job seriously. His routine was strict: at 4:30, he would head to his gym for a workout, and by then, he expected his wife to be in the kitchen preparing his breakfast.

When he turned over and saw Anita still sleeping beside him, his expression darkened. Roughly, he tapped her shoulder.

“Wake up, Anita. Wake up!”

Anita was completely worn out from the vigorous night she had spent with Solomon. She hadn’t realized he was a man with such a high libido. He had only allowed her to sleep after satisfying himself, and that wasn’t until a few hours past midnight.

Now, exhausted, she stirred in bed and shrugged his hand off. “Let me sleep a little longer, please. I barely got any rest,” she muttered before turning over and drifting back to sleep.

Solomon let her be for the moment and went to the bathroom to relieve himself, expecting her to be awake by the time he returned. But when he stepped back into the room and found her still in bed, his irritation grew.

Frowning, he walked over and tapped her again. This time, Anita roughly pushed his hand away. She hated having her sleep interrupted—but she never expected what came next.

Without warning, Solomon raised his hand and struck her hard across the face.

Anita jolted awake with a frightened gasp, her eyes meeting the furious glare of her new husband.

“What was that for?” Anita asked in shock, her cheek instantly burning in the cool, fully air-conditioned room.

Solomon glared at her. “How can you still be lazing in bed when your husband is awake? You should be in the kitchen preparing my breakfast! Get up now!” he thundered.

Anita’s eyes widened in disbelief as she glanced at the clock. It was only a few minutes past four in the morning. She scoffed, rage bubbling inside her.

“Solomon, you must be stupid if you think I’ll service your bed all night and still be denied sleep! Are you even human? Expecting me to go into the kitchen—”

Before she could finish, Solomon’s hand flew across her face, the slap far more brutal than the first.

Anita let out a loud, piercing scream.

“Nne mo! I’m dead oh!”

Anita screamed and tried to jump out of bed, but Solomon grabbed her and struck her again—this time so hard that her vision blurred. She could swear she saw five stars in different colors.

“Chimo! My eyes! I can’t see!” she wailed.

Solomon scoffed. “The next time you dare insult me, you’ll see my true colors. By the time I finish my morning workout, my breakfast better be ready.” With that, he stormed out of the room, leaving Anita in shock, crying and in pain.

Blindly, she stumbled into the bathroom, splashing hot water on her face. It took a few minutes before she could finally see again—though only with her left eye.

“I can’t do this. I’m leaving this house right now!” she muttered through tears.

She dashed out of the room and into the guest room, where she had kept her bag. Just as she grabbed it to leave, the housekeeper—an elderly woman in her late fifties—stepped in, blocking her path.

“Where do you think you’re going, ma’am?”

Anita turned to look at the housekeeper, who immediately noticed her swollen face and struggled to keep from laughing. She pressed her lips together, holding back the amusement bubbling inside her.

After all, just last night, this same young woman had been parading around the house, barking orders at the staff, proudly declaring herself the new madam. The housekeeper had wanted to laugh then, and now, seeing Anita in this state, it took all her restraint not to. But for the sake of her job, she kept a straight face.

“Solomon is a monster! I won’t let him kill me—I’m leaving this house!” Anita sobbed, clutching her bag as she turned to walk away.

The housekeeper’s voice stopped her in her tracks.

“Ma’am, I’d advise against that if you don’t want another round of beating… this time, as extra punishment before breakfast.”

Anita froze, fear creeping up her spine. Slowly, she turned back to the older woman.

“What do you mean by that?” she asked, her voice trembling.

“Nothing,” the housekeeper said with a smile as she walked over and took the bag from Anita’s hands.

“I’d advise you to go into the kitchen and prepare breakfast for Mr. Solomon. The cook will be there to assist you, but remember—they can only help, not do the cooking for you.”

Anita stood frozen, staring blankly like a robot. She couldn’t believe what was happening. How could Solomon beat her so mercilessly after everything she had given him last night?

Just as she was lost in thought, the housekeeper suddenly paused and called out,

“And ma’am?”

“Yes?” Anita replied, snapping out of her daze.

The housekeeper’s smile widened slightly.

“Welcome to the family.”
