I WANT TO MARRY
@𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐧
My name is Chioma I was born into the family of Mr. & Mrs. Gabriel Okonkwo, my father was a secondary school teacher and my mother a petty trader I am the fourth daughter of a family of six children, I have three elder sisters and two younger brothers, this is my story…
I grew up like every other girl desiring to get married someday and have a family I can call my own, I personally love marriage, and I love family life.
All my growing up days I excitedly wished to get married early…
I always sit in a corner reflecting on how life will be when I get married… I don’t know why ooh… smiles… but I like marriage sha!…
Back then, while growing up anywhere I hear that someone is getting married I am there, whether you invite me or not, I will be so excited and wishing it was me…laughing…
Chai! I have done many asoebi for plenty of people ooh, I did chief bride’s maid for almost all the girls in my church, then, that was how much I love marriage…smiles…
Fast forward to when it was time for me to get married when Adegbe my husband came to ask for my hand in marriage, it was an answered prayer to me. Adegbe and I were in the same department in the university but he was two years ahead of me…
Adegbe is from Kogi state, we met when I newly entered the university, as a new student on campus, I needed to do so many things from changing bank tellers to receipts to course registration and everything I needed to do before settling down for lectures that period, it was in the midst of trying to get all these done that I met Adegbe.
That day, was my second day in school, I came out of my HOD’s office and stood in the corridor I was actually thinking of what next to do because I needed to get some forms signed but don’t even know where to start from, I was thinking of getting someone to direct me, then I saw a young guy walking towards where I was standing…
In my mind I was wondering who this person is, do I know him or does he know me? What is he coming to tell me, he kept coming and started smiling when he came close, so I smiled back too
Hi sis, I noticed you have been standing here wondering what to do, I know you are a new student can I help you… at first I started blushing… being a fine girl nah… I know I will attract fine guys too… I answered yes quickly and told him where and where I needed help. That was it ooh, Adegbe took over with full force…
He followed me to all the offices I needed to go to, and with his help I was able to do all the signings that day, in my mind I was like who is this guy, very calm and coordinated guy, he was not talking much…in fact, I could say that he was God’s sent…
Adegbe was with me that day so at the end of the day, while we were done, I was so grateful and thankful I thanked him repeatedly.
When he was about to go, he opened the folder he was holding in his hand and gave me a flyer, inviting me to a Student Christian Fellowship on campus, I was glad to meet him we exchanged contacts, then he left.
The next day was Wednesday, the school fellowship was to hold a bible study programme that evening so that afternoon, Adegbe called to remind me about the bible study and I promised to be there.
A few hours before the time of the programme, he sent me another reminder and forwarded the address of the venue via text message to me.
But somehow, I was not able to attend the bible study that evening; being a new student on campus I had not really known places to be moving around all by myself, and besides that, I was still struggling to get my accommodation settled too I had no accommodation then, I was squatting with my secondary school mother.
I wanted a space from the school Hostel since I don’t have enough money to get accommodation off campus, I was actually trying to get my accommodation issue settled and move in before I can start moving around. I haven’t even started lectures then…that was the primary reason why I did not go to fellowship that day sha…
After the fellowship that evening Adegbe called to find out why I was not able to come to fellowship, I told him I was trying to get my accommodation sorted out, that I wanted a space in the school hostel and someone promised to take me to the secretary of the man in charge of accommodation blah.. blah… blah.
