**Tessie’s unknown promise**
As they landed in Brazil after the airplane romantic experience, the first call that came to Hugo’s phone was from Marco Antonio.
Hugo was eager to take because he wanted an update to know about the operation that got Lucas and the entire Mortos Rio cartel workers captured but he was surprised that Marco’s tone when he said the first “hello” was so deep, sonorous and unwelcoming. This introduced a pinch of surprise that got Hugo a bit perturbed and curious.
“I guess all is well, bro. But before then, I have good news for you,” Hugo said gleefully expecting Marco to be cheerful but he wasn’t still.
“I already head the news,” Marco said and took a deep breath, “It’s all over the news about how the great scientist who disappeared many years ago was captured as she was currently living in the skin of another renowned scientist known as Margarita. I also heard about Ignacio’s capture, so it’s no longer news,”
Hugo was surprised that the news went ahead of them around the globe, making him put on the television. He and Tessie were surprised that the news was all over the entire channels of the TV, meaning that whatever happened in Mexico was aired as a live feed.
As Hugo wanted to alight from the aircraft, Tessie signal that he should complete his calls with Marco first because she seemed to have something to say but had to wait for Hugo to conclude with the calls first.
“I think I have fulfilled my end of the bargain,” Marco voiced in that solemn tone, “even though it’s not easy capturing Larissa yet because she’s gone so dark but it’s not impossible. One thing I’m sure of is that she is vulnerable now because all her bodyguards have been captured while her shields and options are broken and incapacitated. She is now on her own as a fugitive and most wanted on the DEA’s list. But let me advise you; if you ever capture her first, don’t kill her. I repeat: do not kill Larissa but hand her over to us. Lastly, pack up everything concerning Misterio cartel because we’re coming to destroy everything and make arrests in the next twenty-four hours. This is an ambush and a raid, and I just gave you the most expensive classified and information that can end my career as a DEA agent if discovered. Don’t worry; this call can’t be recorded because I activated the call-erasing options to remain incognito,”
Hugo felt mentally tortured and jittery by that message, making him so weak to the spines as he listened meditatively. He couldn’t just feel the possibility of giving up his long time dream. At that point, he felt the negative impact of drug business which makes the dealer find it hard to quit or leave it behind even when he’s made up his mind to drop the dirty business.
“What are my chances of carting everything away before you guys arrive?” Hugo asked after considering that there was no option left this time.
“Seriously, I’ll advice you just disappear and leave everything while you take hold of your monies in the bank and cash at hand. Leave drugs behind so that the narcotic agents would feel that their job was successful having found the forbidden powder they came for. This will make them pay less attention to searching further to arrest you but with more attention focussed on celebrating the huge success of their raid. Even though I tried my best to keep your business out of their knowledge, Misterio cartel is now too popular to remain invisible, so I suggest you run as fast as your legs could carry you than face arrest,”
Hugo found it hard to accept the deal but he had no options at this point other than hang up the call to have the time to think it through and make decisions as quickly as he could.
“I guess that the call didn’t end as you planned,” Tessie said and came close to him, sat on his lap and planted a kiss on his forehead. What are we up against?” she asked trying to be privy to the just-concluded phone call to know how to support or refute.
After taking his time trying to figure out the best way to handle the situation, Hugo found none, so he held Tessie’s hand, caressed it for a while, and said: “Misterio cartel is next on the blacklist of the DEA and their ambush would be tomorrow; in less than twenty-four hours according to Marco’s intel.
Tessie took her time to think about the impact of such news on Hugo and the entire business. She felt sad but at the same time feel happier than she was sad because she’d have advised Hugo to leave the business which she had done a lot; even when she sang the song for him.
“Well, I think I’m happy with that,” Tessie said looking smilingly at Hugo as she crossed her hands over his shoulders, “I hate to admit that you need to forget about this drug stuff and live a happy life. How happy have you been since you began to deal drugs if not winning some fights and losing some, as well as losing close friends and getting incessant betrayals from the list expected friends? Balance staying in the business with leaving it and get the result,” seeing that Hugo was lost in thoughts because of how difficult it was in deciding to leave the drug business, she tried to lighten his gloomy mood a bit by being flirty and romantic around him. She just had to employ the power of a woman to know if it would help so that she could take advantage of it and convince him to adhere to Marco’s advice. After a while of thinking of how best to approach him, she decided to keep him a bit on a hot seat by saying: “But, on a serious note, why did you have a thorough romance with me as a way of saying thanks to me for a job well done. Is that the best move for a gentleman?”
Hugo was surprised by the question because he didn’t even know how to go about answering her, so he smiled and said: “Sorry for that,”
Tessie stood up and pretended to be angry, making Hugo feel that he just said something wrong.
“But wait, you didn’t even ask me out before rushing at me with a romance,” Tessie said and pouted, “or you think that the staged kiss when we were in the middle of operation was enough to make you make sexual advances without properly asking me out as a man should?”
Hugo felt sorry at this point, so he stood closer to her and held her by the hips to make her feel better.
“I’m sorry that I took advantage of the situation but it wasn’t deliberate my love,” Hugo apologised and tried to pull her closer but she pushed him roughly away.
“Do I look like a cheap whore that you can just play around with as…?”

Tessie knew that she was playing with Hugo’s emotions but didn’t have to stop, so she looked into his eyes and said: “I’m disappointed in you,”
Hugo was so confused this time, making him walk about aimlessly as he got buried in thoughts thinking of how to apologise properly to make the pretty girl he’s fallen for feel better.
“Those words are strong and I think you misunderstood it all,” Hugo said narrowing his eyes in remorse. “Please, I’m so sorry for…”
“Ha-ha,” Tessie began to laugh and came to him but Hugo pulled himself back a bit because he wasn’t sure of the reason for her sudden laughter.
“Why laughing at me?” Hugo asked feeling sad.
“I was just playing around,” Tessie said and smiled, “sometimes, I love to poke fun with someone I love…”
“Did you say that you love…? Wow, she loves me,” Hugo said and tried to carry her up in absolute happiness that coursed through him but Tessie stopped him.
“Yes, I think I love you, in addition to that, I’ll make love to you but there is a price,” Tessie said to his greatest surprise, making him feel that he didn’t hear her well.
“Did you just say…?” Hugo murmured his words looking so flabbergasted at her.

He formally bid farewell to drug business just in few words over the phone.
After the call, Tessie was so proud of Hugo, making her pull him into a hug as she felt so happy for the decision he took irrespective of how difficult it was.
With resolution to play her part in making Hugo’s life rosier and promising, Tessie whispered to Hugo saying: “Since the sixty billion USD has been transferred into my private account in Madagascar, I want us to share it equally, 50:50, because I know that the huge sums you paid to your workers and stakeholders to make them start life afresh and be happy would drastically reduce your capital base, therefore, I need us to share the money equally…”

Amid his great astonishment for such complimentary speech, Hugo’s attention was centred on the last part where Tessie promised to help him solve very difficult stuff which he couldn’t even fathom. He had many issues he still wanted to solve but as long as the song ‘Let it be’ still sings in his mind, and his promise to Tessie to allow a lot of things to be in life, he never felt he had any difficult situation to solve. Being that Tessie is so smart and full of surprises, Hugo couldn’t wait to know what the problem could be and to have it solved. He was feeling so honoured and cool as he looked surprised at the pretty girl with great respect and admiration.

Finding it hard to comprehend, he took a deep breath and said: “Why are you telling me all these?”
