Their feet made no sound neither did it leave a print on the staircase as they hurried up to the first floor of the building found at the senior section of the school. They were covered in black garments from toes to their heads, even their faces remained invisible due to the dark nature it absorbed. They were fast and specific to their target. Any student who saw them shivered at a corner or ran away. Some even fainted at their horrible sight. Therefore their presence caused a pandemonium in the school which Mr Henry, the principal of the school, felt in his office then grabbed the school general telephone to call the police. His fingers shook as he tried to dial their number, but finally did.

“This is 911, what’s the imagency?” a female voice came from the telephone.

“There is a kidnapping operation going on in my school now”

“Location, please”

“Heartland collage at Umunneri” the line went off, while Mr Henry looked through the window to see students running helter skelter for their dear lives while some remained in their classroom, looking scared thereby maintaining quietness.

The three Graths entered into Ken’s classroom, pointing their guns at the students found there who screamed with their eyes closed. Some laid down on the floor without being told. However, Mercy and Jade remained at the exact place Ken told them. Jade neither closed her eyes or shook in fear, she made sure her eyes fixed on the Graths. But Mercy hid her face behind her with her two hands, covering her two ears. However, there was a door that led to another room inside the classroom where Ken took refuge. So after searching the classroom, one of the Graths walked towards the door to open it, but Jade’s voice interrupted him saying, “Who are you and what do you want from him?”

The three Graths turned to her as she stood up, leaving Mercy alone on the seat. Though she stared into their faces but couldn’t see a thing like eyes or mouth. They kept coming towards her slowly and observantly.

“Do you talk?!” Jade added, yet the Graths said nothing, but she continued. “I’ve seen you before, and you ran after him. Though he has refused to tell me what’s going on. Why don’t you tell me why you always attack him?”

“Where is he?” one of the Graths asked in scary voice that sounded like a sound in an empty hallow cylinder.

“Why don’t we have a deal? Tell me why you want him then I’ll tell you where to find him”

“We want him because…”

Ken came out from the room boldly which interrupted them. “Because I’m here” he said.

The Graths turned to him swiftly to pull the triggers, but the twins did that before them from the entrance of the classroom and they fell down and died to the very amazement of the students especially Ken who looked at the twins that ran to him and grabbed him by the hand.

“Where is it?” Date asked him.

“Leave him alone!” Jade wanted to interfer, but Kate pointed a gun at her.

“Don’t even say anything again” she sounded a serious warning to her.

Ken found his voice. “Who are you and what are you talking about?”

Date smiled deadly, punched him on the belly in a way Ken bent down, nearly vomiting the little food that held his strength.

Mercy came forward like a confused being. She was fragile and soft. It could be seen on the tears that started dropping from her eyes. Ken straightened up not only to see her staring at him but also saw the tears dropping uncontrollably. She averted her eyes from him to Date saying, “If he has anything, he would have given it to you. Please, let him go”

Kate kicked her down in a way she fell on one of the dead Graths.

Ken struggled angrily in Date’s hands. “Don’t you dare touch her again!!”

Date punched him for the second time on the stomach, harder than initial. “Do you thing this is a child’s play?! Where is your bag?”

Ken pointed at it.

Kate grabbed it, opened it and turned it upsidedown. All his books, including his cell phone fell down but the magical eyeglasses wasn’t among. She also searched other minor pockets, yet nothing had the resemblance of the eyeglasses. She became disappointed, looking at her twin brother. Just then, police siren came from a distance.

“C’mon, let’s go!” Date dragged Ken along with him. When Jade wanted to make a move, Kate shot a bullet on the roof and pointed it at her. “Nobody fucking move!” she warned and ran after her brother. They escaped through an appian way before the police arrived. Students’ crying voices escalated at that point. Lyman, the commander of the police, as he was called stopped with his men at the spot where two Graths first died by the twins’ bullets. The principal and other teachers also approached to them that moment. Lyman bent down to check on the dead Graths, but only their black garments remained, even those in Ken classroom. He looked at the principal. “Where did their bodies go?”

“I don’t have any idea. I saw when they were shot by two children who had also taken one of our students”

Lyman stared at the garments.

“Could it be ghosts?” one of his men asked him.

“No” he straightened up. “Ghosts are invisible. I guess they are neither ghost nor living being” he exhaled. “This is strange. Give me the kidnapped boy’s location” he instructed.

On the other hand, at Roland hospital, four Graths walked in with swards. Their presence set patients on their heels if they could, while nurses screamed at their horrible sight. Meanwhile, Mr Dennis was with his son, Wisdom, when they heard noises and running footsteps. Already, before then, Wisdom had his father secretly brought his gun to the hospital after Ken called him that morning, but he never told him the reason why.

“What’s that noise?” Mr Dennis asked.

” Dad, did you bring it? They are coming after me again” Wisdom struggled up.

“Who are they?” He saw him standing up. “Son, you need to relax. You’re still sick”

“I’m better” he placed one of his feet on the floor.

“Just stay here, don’t make any move” Mr Dennis brought out the gun, going out of the room to meet whosoever that was coming after his son. He met them in the passage as they were walking simultaneously with their swards lowered. The sparkling color of their swards, movement of their legs and height got Mr Dennis scared. But he shouted, “Stop right there or I shoot you!”

The Graths kept coming, this time, totally lowered their swards on the floor in a way they made weary sound and sparking light.

“Alright, you leave me no choice!” Mr Dennis opened fire on them only to see them dispersed, running haphazardly in a way he couldn’t target one person. He didn’t even know when they passed him unharmed and ran into the room where Wisdom was, but didn’t see him. They turned the sick bed upsidedown, yet, didn’t see him. One of them wanted to enter into the bathroom where he was, but Mr Dennis came in, trying to shoot them again but discovered that his bullets had exhausted. Ikuku rushed in too, stretched his staff at them which rendered them weak and steady like morons. “Fast, take up their swards and cut off their heads. I can’t hold them any longer” he told Mr Dennis.

Hesitantly, he did as he said. The Graths fell down and eventually vanished , remaining only their garments. Wisdom came out of the bathroom, coughing and staggering.

Mr Dennis looked at Ikuku. “What are they? Ghosts?”

“No” Ikuku walked to Wisdom. “Call Ken. We need to know his situation”

Mr Dennis also approached. “Okay, I have had enough of this! Can somebody tell me what’s happening?”

Ikuku glared at him. “It’s better you don’t have the knowledge of what is happening coz if you do, the Graths wouldn’t have ran pass you at the passage. They would have cut off your head before you could pull the trigger” he turned to Wisdom who had dialled Ken’s number but Jade picked it. He handed the phone to Ikuku and glanced at his father’s confused face.

“Hello, Ken, it’s Ikuku” Ikuku said on the phone.

“Its Jade!” a voice replied. “Ken had been kidnapped!!”

“By who?”

“I don’t know. They are two after the men in black attacked him”

“But the men in black weren’t the ones that took him”

“Yes! We are heading to Ken’s house now!”

“I’ll meet you there” the line went off. Ikuku dropped the phone then began to walk out. Wisdom wanted to follow him but he didn’t buy the idea due to his condition. Meanwhile, Mr Dennis had sat on the floor with hands on his head like one who was about to get mad.

The son looked at him. “Dad, some things are meant to be kept as secret in order to save your life” he told him, yet, the father didn’t find his voice.

Kate and Date dragged Ken to his house. The mother had traveled for the arrangement of her wedding without knowing what her son was passing through. They entered into his room, Date turned his bed upsidedown, opened his cupboard where several books could be found and flung all of them on the ground. He also emptied his bag of clothings in search of the magical eyeglasses but never saw it. “Where did you keep it!” he yelled, sweating furiously.

“I told you i don’t have what you are looking for!” Ken replied.

“Liar!” Kate hit him down on the floor with the head of the gun in her hand.

After disorganising the room without seeing the eyeglasses, Date walked up to Ken, pulled him up and glared into his eyes which had turned red. “You’ll bring out the magical eyeglasses in a hard way” he said, then they dragged him out of the house. Ken, however wondered how they knew about the eyeglasses and where they were taking him to.

Immediately they left, Jade and Mercy arrived to see Ikuku standing inside Ken’s room and looking at how tattered it was like the sanctum of an insane man. He became very sad, thinking that the magical eyeglasses had been taken from the young lad.

“Ikuku?” Jade’s voice came from the entrance. “What happened here?”

“I don’t know, Jade” Ikuku replied without looking at her.

Jade provoked. “You don’t know? Ken is being attacked by strange men whom you are very much aware of. His room is as if he is with a medallion wanted by some people, yet, you tell me you don’t know?! What is very hard for you people to open up for us what’s going on in Ken’s life ever since we returned from the goddess of cleverness?!”

Ikuku looked at her. “What you want to know will cost your life. That’s why you must not know it. That’s why we are struggling so hard to make sure the mass doesn’t have a knowledge of it too, otherwise thousands of people will die every two days. Only cleverness can save Ken and every other person by then” he walked towards the window. “I’m afraid, the city will soon know” he concluded.

Mercy stepped forward, wondering how Jade knew the old man. She swallowed hard and said with tears dropping from her eyes, “Is Ken in trouble? Is he still alive? Please, bring him back”

Ikuku turned to see her quivering in fear. Before he said anything, police siren came from outside. “Now, you don’t know anything if the police ask you of anything” he instructed.

“As if I do know of any goddamn thing that is going on” Jade winked…..
