The Complete Assassin Episode 11 by kayemjay
T e n h o u r s l a t e r . . .
Stella drove a black Toyota Sequoia away from Rebekah’s house. She had the body of the once pretty woman in a black body bag inside the trunk. As she pulled away from the garage onto the road, she increased the volume of the song playing from the radio. Eva Alordiah’s “DEAF” blasted from the HD speakers of the car as she turned a left and joined the freeway. She had just finished cleaning up after Steven, again. A few hours earlier, she walked into a woman tied to the bed, fighting to keep her sanity, struggling with the bed and trying to free herself from the inescapable agony that coursed through her whole being, her faced filled with caked tears.
Upon seeing Stella, her countenance changed and her mood lightened up. She seemed happy.
“Am I glad to see you!” Rebekah said and continued.
“Please. Untie me Agent S.” she finished.
Stella just walked around the bed, slowly carefully, like she was looking for something. Something caught her eyes. She bent low at the head of the bed and saw a strand of hair and a little liquid on the tiled ground. She shook her head and got up.
“Stella? Untie me. You were sent to get me out of here, weren’t you?” Rebekah asked, a sudden glint of fear in her eyes.
Stella only smiled. She took out a small special needle from her side pocket, brandishing it before Rebekah.
“Did you actually think you would get away with spying on a member of the Shadow Organization, let alone your Shadow Prime? We are supposed to be a family Beccah. We are supposed to support each other, help one another, to be there in time of need. But what did you do? You took the easy way out. I hate to break it to you sis, but I am not here to render any form of help. I am here to clean up all the mess in here. Wipe every trace of Shadow Prime. I came here to put you out of your misery.” Stella said and walked to the bed. She sat beside Rebekah, staring her directly in the face and holding up the needle for her to see.
“What is that? What are you going to do to me?” Rebekah asked, her voice trembling with every word.
“Oh, I told you. I am here to put you out of your misery. This needle is laced with a neurotoxin. It’s going to slow down your vitals, weaken your respiratory system and paralyze your senses. In five minutes you would be asleep. In twenty minutes you will be dead.” Stella finished.
“Please. Help me. Don’t kill me. I’ll give you anything you want. Please.” Rebekah said, shaking and trying harder to set herself loose.
“Shhh…Shhh…Shhhh. If you shake and I hit the wrong artery, you will have the most painful experience of your life. Relax, and die peacefully.” Stella warned.
Like magic, Rebekah steadied herself and in five minutes she was sound asleep under the influence of the toxins now operating in her body. As Rebekah slept, Stella wore transparent gloves on both hands. She took out a pair of UV Glasses which allowed her see any strand of hair, finger prints, semen, saliva or blood. Anything the naked eye could not easily catch, the UV glasses brought to her notice. She started from the bedroom and worked her way till the kitchen, bedroom and toilet. She got a few strands of hair, some semen, saliva in the bathroom sink and blood from a toothbrush. After taking care of the finger prints, she gathered all the items, putting them in a small black polythene bag. Thoroughly satisfied, Stella made her way to the back of the house, took out a body bag from her car, dumped Rebekah’s lifeless body in it and threw her in the trunk. She went back into the house to scrutinize the area where Rebekah lay. She found nothing. After arranging the house neatly and making it nice and clean, Stella entered her car and drove off. Steven was making too many mistakes. Steven never makes mistakes. Why was he doing this? She was beginning to feel uneasy. These were mistakes that even a level one rookie in the Organization would not make. Something was not right. She was determined to find out.
As she nodded to the sound blasting through her speakers, she activated her GPS tracker to know the location of her brother. From the coordinates she saw, he was at his private Condo, off the shores of Makoko Island. She made a mental note to check on him after disposing of Rebekah and the items.

Steven sat on the balcony of his one-storey condo, overlooking the Atlantic. He had a Cuban cigar in hand, taking occasional puffs and savoring the late afternoon breeze as the sound of Tu Pac’s “Unborn Child” flowed through the Bluetooth enabled earpiece he had on. He wore just shorts and had no shirt on. He waited for the day to darken a little more so he could dive in for his evening swim. He was almost finishing his cigar when Isis, his supercomputer interrupted his siesta.
“Good Evening Shadow Prime. You have got mail.” Isis said through the earpiece that Steven had on, stopping his music.
Steven got up from the balcony and walked into the living area, shutting the door to the balcony behind him.
“Isis, who’s the sender?” Steven asked sitting on a large single chair in the center of the room.
“Sensei.” Isis replied.
“Show me. West wall” Steven commanded
The room suddenly went very dark and a projected image appeared on the wall to Steven’s left. It was a video message from Sensei. He was standing in his Lodge, hands at his back. Steven knew it would be a short message. The posture said it all.
“Play it Isis.” Steven commanded.
“There is a mission for you. The parameters would be sent to you immediately after this email. Once you get the parameters you cannot refuse mission. However I am sure it is going to be a piece of cake for you. Do you accept this mission?” Sensei asked.
Without thinking or hesitating, Steven replied.
“I accept.” Steven replied.
The video paused for three seconds, then scrambled.
“Email corrupted. Deleted from hard drive. Parameters for mission received. What is your order sir?” Isis asked.
“Isis, Open Mission Parameters.” Steven commanded
“Mission parameters, opened. Size nine hundred megabytes. Content: Pictures, videos and text.” Isis said.
“Isis, download them to my ipad-X, and encrypt it. I will get it when I am back from my swim.” Steven said.
“Done, Shadow Prime.” Isis replied.
“Thank you Isis.”
Steven went downstairs, walking to the shore of the beach. Stripping to his underpants, he walked gently into the water going deeper and deeper, getting ready for his routine evening swim.
Little did he know what was in store, waiting for him.

D e t e c t i v e S a m s o n c o u l d n o t b e l i e v e h i s e y e s. The surveillance tapes had been doctored. There had to be some sort of explanation for why there was no trace of the person who came into the VVIP suite. He watched the tape for the eleventh time, this time in the company of James. The tape opened where the participants for the event began to enter The Haven with their card passes. They identified every guest as they ticked them off in the guest list. Everyone was accounted for including those who sent in their apologies. Detective Samson fast forwarded the tape to the VVIP suite scene. The door opened and they could see no one entering. The door closed. There was definitely someone in the room, but he had suddenly become invisible. They watched every detail as Mr. Emmanuel got out of the shower, took a blow to the chin, and eventually ended up getting choked by a handkerchief handled by someone who had turned invisible.
The Detective paused the tape.
“James, any explanations for this?” The detective asked pointing at the large screen on the wall.
“I am totally dumbfounded sir.” James replied.
“Fortunately, I am not. Someone has tampered with this tape. That’s our killer there and he has suddenly become invisible.” Detective Samson said, standing and looking down at James who felt like the ground should open and swallow him up.
“Sir, I only did as instructed. I patched all the surveillance tapes together into one. I did not view what was on them.” James protested
“Maybe you did. Maybe you didn’t. We’ll see about that.” The detective said.
“I swear to you sir. I do not know anything about this. Whoever it is, I promise to do everything in my power to make sure that he is caught.” James pleaded.
He walked away from where he sat, and then stopped within touching distance of the large screen on the wall. He replayed the scene several times, from when the door opened to when Mr. Emmanuel fell on the floor, dead. He kept looking hoping to find some sort of weak spot. Some sort of mistake. There was none. Whoever doctored the tape was good. Very good.
As he pondered his next line of action, his phone rang. He pressed a button on the device on his ear.
“Samson here.” The detective said sounding unfriendly.
“This is Coast Guard Security. We found the body of one of your men drifting towards shore. He has been ID’ed as Sergeant Musa.” came the reply from the other end of the line.
“How long ago was this?” The detective asked.
“Three hours in twenty minutes.” The Coast Guard replied.
“And you are just bringing this to my attention? Why the f— did you not inform me immediately the body was found? Is this how you people fu—king work?” Detective Samson retorted very angrily
“We only followed protocol sir. We did not think…” The man was saying but the detective cut him short.
“Of course! You absolutely were not thinking! I want the autopsy report in my email before I finish taking my pee. Am I clear?” The detective threatened.
“Crystal.” The guard replied.
Turning to James, Detective Samson spoke.
“The fools just told me now that one of my men was found drifting on the waters. Was Sergeant Musa on duty today? If he was where was his post tonight, how long was he supposed to be in duty? Did anyone relieve him?” He asked
James was already clicking and typing away on the computer in front of him. He used special codes and complex algorithm to override access into the FIA. He got into the FIA database as Detective Samson was still speaking and was hacking into the officer deployment list for the evening. Immediately the detective finished speaking, James replied.
“Sergeant Musa. 34. League 3 mobile police officer. Graduated from the academy with a general score of 60% but was top of his class in physical combat. Made sixteen arrests, served in the battalion to the war in Liberia and has no infringements. No wife. No children. Loves the dark drink and has no permanent address. He …” James spoke but was interrupted.
“Was he a part of tonight’s official guard for the event and what was the shift schedule like?” The detective asked impatiently.
“On it sir.” James said and after two minutes replied.
“He was on duty tonight sir. His duty post was to watch the back entrance overlooking the river. He had no relief plans or shift roster. He was supposed to man the duty point throughout.” James finished.
“Hmmm.” Detective Samson said deep in thought.
“But wait. How come you were able to get all that information?” he asked James.
“I was able to hack into the Federal Intelligence Archives and dig out the information sir. I am sorry.” James said, bowing his head.
“What is your qualification?” he asked James
“I am currently doing my first degree course in Ethical Hacking and Wireless VPN Reconfiguration. I do not have any certificates yet but I have some experience in stuff like this sir.” James responded.
“Anything illegal?” The detective asked, giving James a piercing look.
“No sir. Nothing illegal sir. I have not had any reason to.” James replied.
“Good. You are officially on my team. Send your resignation tomorrow. In fact, don’t. I will call your Boss personally and inform him. Henceforth you are working with me. You can go now. Report back here at 4pm. You are dismissed.” The detective said with a tone of finality.
James could not believe his ears. He thanked the detective profusely and immediately exited the room.
The detective was still suspicious of James. However if James was not the culprit in doctoring those tapes, he would prove to be very useful to him in IT related matters. Either way it was a win-win situation for him. He had begun to like the young lad. He hoped for his own sake that he was clean.

Steven came back from his swim, mopping his body with a towel. His light skinned body glistened under the light that illuminated the sitting room. He dropped the towel in a chair opposite him as he picked up his Ipad Xtreme.
All through the swim he could not get his mind of the mission that Sensei had for him. He opened the mission file and read through the contents. He was supposed to take out Oil mogul, Fredrick Obi. He was the C.E.O of Apex Oil and Gas, the Executive Director of Center Point Bank, the second richest man in the country and the eleventh richest in the continent. He was one of the candidates in line for the position of Governor of the State and was always well guarded and protected. This was the kind of missions Steven loved to take. Targets who were not easy prey thrilled him.
He opened the prescribed mission agenda and looked at the planned strategy Sensei had drawn up. It felt good, subtle, daring, careful and no left traces. There were three different clear exit points. He was about to go with Sensei’s strategy when something caught his eyes. He was looking at pictures of his target when he saw what seemed like he was walking on a pool. He enlarged the picture and saw that it was actually a pool, but was covered with transparent glass. There seemed to be something under the glass. That gave him an idea.
He smiled and pressed the accept button on his Ipad.
The message scrambled and vanished from his device.
“Isis, please play me the full Beethoven’s Symphony. From the beginning.” Steven commanded.
“Yes, Shadow Prime.” Isis said.
Steven closed his eyes as the first installment of Beethoven’s Symphony filtered through the speakers in the walls, c a l m i n g h i s n e r v e s a n d m a k i n g h i m d r i f t i n t o a s l o w n e e d e d s l e e p .
