Mirabel felt indignant on seeing Lance. She noticed Lance had been stalking her recently. As a lady that she was, she could easily detect if a guy had crush on her, and as far as Lance was concerned, she knew perfectly well that Lance had fallen into the category. While all she wanted for both of them was just a mere platonic friendship.

“So i can see i’m not welcome here” Lance dissed out when she noticed out foiled up Mirabel was.

“But are you now stalking me?” Mirabel asked while repressing his rage

“Well if stalking a pretty girl like you is a sin..i,wll rather go hell” Lance punned out trying to shuffle out a sit opposite Mirabel.

“So merry xmas in arrears” he mumbled resting his butt on the sit.

“Xame xame” Mirabel replied. She was certain she wasn’t going to enjoy Lance’s company. She was trying to look for a perfect method she had used earlier to other guys to ditch him out of sight cause she didn’t want any flaws on her side when Temi arrives.

“What are you doing here?” She asked Lance.

“Well let me just say i came to have fun since i couldn’t yestyday. But thank God i met you here now. We can have a conjoint fun” Lanced with eyes rolling.

“Oh No Lance. You’ve got the wrong girl . Because my own man will soon be here” Mirabel said with haughtiness edging out from her voice.

“Your man ?” Laced asked with raised furrowed eyes. “But you guys had the same fun here yestyday. Didn’t you?”

Lance’s question made Mirabel remembered the last time he talked with him on phone. He had asked him how she was going to spend her x’mas and she had told him her man was taking her out. She intentionally said that in other fuddle any motive he may have kept to ask her out that day. But unfortunately for her, Temi hadn’t consented to that day on an escuse that he had something so core to do. And even though Temi wasn’t her man yet, Mirabel didn’t relent in calling her that.

“Well he couldn’t make it yestyday cause he had something so important to do” she uttered.

“Something important than you ? I’m sorry who is this your man. I mean someone who couldn’t spear out his job for his woman ..”

“It is not about his job Lance” Mirabel cut in. “Like he was on assignment he was needed to carry out that yestyday”

“Assignment again” Lance pondered with raised burrow while every words Matthew relayed out to him yestyday seemed to start popping in his head. Matthew told him that the killer looked like someone who was under force or requision the way he shot Derick. And here, a lady was saying her man was under an important assignment, hence the reason he shelved their supposed date.

Matthew’s story with Mirabel’s explanation appeared syndicated. A prehensile detective like him will always know that.

What assignmnent could be so important like that ? There is only one way he will know. He has to chisel Mirabel into introducing her so-called man to him so he would confirm his physique if it matches with Matthew description.

“Ring Ring” Mirabel’s phone claxoned.

Her heart almost pounded out hoping it was Temi. Probably he called just to get direction to the angle she was sitting. She took a glimpse at the caller, an heaved in disappointment when she who the caller was.

“Hell Mom” she said to the caller on phone.

“Hello my dear, how are you ?” A dainty feminine voice wafted out of the phone.

“I’am good mom” Mirabel replied.

“I don’t know if you have heard what happened yestyday ?” The voice seemed concerned and Mirabel could feel it over the phone.

“What is it mom ?” She replied with inquietude.

“Oh you haven’t my dear. You step brother is dead! He was ..”

“Whaaaaaaaaaaat!” Mirabel screamed while her phone flipped out of her hand subconsciously, staunching her conversation with her mom. The reality of loosing the only brother she has had become percipient to her.

“So Derick is dead!” She whiffed out in tremor making Lance to ball over and startled for ages. He found the situation now puzzing but also amusing.

“You mean Derick Olanbanji ?” He asked

“Yes do you know him” Mirabel toned back with forlorn voice

“Yes i do. ” he answered. He had thought he knew Mirabel so well right from puerility but now he could confirm he only knew just little about her. Because she had never for once had idea she was related to famous Chief, Dr.Olabanji Daniel.

“So who is Derick to you ?” He asked.

“He is my elder and stepbrother.” She cooed out while Lance puffed out breath. Probably Mirabel’s mother was not a legal and that has been the reason Mirabel status as one of Chief Banji’s children has never gone public.

Lance thought hard. He smirked, as an evil thought perched on his mind. If his guess turned out positive as he envisaged, then Mirabel so-called man would be the killer of her only brother. All he has to do is to maneuver the situation to his own vantage of winning Mirabel’s love then he would screw up his so-called man or killer.

“Sorry can i meet your man now ?” Lance asked with a grimmace curving out his face, making Mirabel confused.

A phone blared out making the tensed atmosphere lessen a bit.

“Hello Musa” Lance said to the phone

“Hello boss. We just got an information” Musa voiced out.

“And what is it ?”

“Three dead male bodies that were gruesomely killed were found yestyday evening along Pansheke road sir. And while our coroner confirmed that it was carried out by the same serial killers we thought had gone on exile. Sir yestyday murder confirmed that our killer or killers are still stative.” Musa riddled out of the phone.

For the past years, the city had been on toll of discovering male adolescent bodies on the street on every December 25, and now another killer just emerged yestyday talking about is all about December 25, citing Dr.Banji. What is happening ? Lance asked himself while he threw a long stare at Mirabel’s frailed shape sitted opposite him and asked again

“how can i meet your man ?”
