MY EYES
Episode 5
One evening I couldn’t take it anymore I decided to rush to Mia’s room to check up on her, I knocked countless times but she never responded.
Normally she would scream at us to let her be but this time she wasn’t saying anything, I alerted my mother who just came back from work.
My mother equally came to the rescue, we knocked and knocked but not answer. I rushed to get a screwdriver and hammer to reverse the lock and I was happy it worked.
We got into her room, we didn’t see her on her bed. We saw Mia in the bathtub drowning, I screamed my lungs out and began to call out her name but she wasn’t responding.
My mother cried out “Mia!!!!”, I couldn’t understand why she did this to herself.
I couldn’t find words to say, I saw her slowly loosing her grip from life. I carried her to my mother car while my mother followed, for the very first time I drove my mother’s car after getting my license years ago.
We arrived at the hospital and made sure we paid in advance for what ever treatment they have to give Mia. I was scared, I didn’t want to loose my sister the I lost my father. A very wise and lovely man, I cried bitterly while watching the nurses and doctor run around to save Mia’s life.
My mother kept praying, and worshiping God. I didn’t know how to pray, I can only say the scriptures from the bible when the Spirit takes possession of my body.
I looked around the hospital and then I got a glance of a Bible laying next to the medical book shelf. I believe they store books there for patients to read while they wait in other not to get bored.
I picked up the bible and began to read a randomly chapter, I began to read the book of Exodus just exactly the kind of words I want to hear in a time like this.
I was so engrossed to he bible that I never noticed when my mother spoke to me, she paused for a while to look at me and then smiled.
She has never seen me with a Bible before or even get to read it. I red the bible till my heart was content, at a point I stopped to look around my surrounding just as I was about to speak my eyes began to burn.
I could see patients who are about to give up the ghost, I could see restless spirit of people who died in the hospital. I could equally see spirits of an handsome young man wiping my the corner of the reception.
I saw so many troubled spirits, some spirit who do not want to be alone troubled other patients to join them in the land of the dead.
The doctor walked towards us with a bright smile and then I knew everything was okay, immediately my eyes stopped hurting and I began to see things normal again.
“Doctor how is my daughter?”, my mother asked without letting the doctor say a word first.
“”She is fine, am happy you both came to the hospital on time if not she wouldn’t have made it”, he replied.
“Oh thank you Jesus, thank you Lord”, my mother praised.
“Can we see her?”, I asked.
“No yet, she needs rest. She needs a lot of vitamins and protein, she has lost strength”, she responded.
“Okay doctor, thank you”, I added.
“Thank you doctor”, my mother thanked.
I was so happy, I felt relieved and peaceful knowing my younger sister was still strong and healthy. I began to thank God for all he has done, I noticed how I was drawn into the things of God and how I trusted him through his word.
I and my mother rushed to take our leave but the spirit of the man crying by the corner kept tormenting me, I couldn’t leave.
“Mom please I need to do something just go to the car I will join you once am done”, I requested.
“What do you want to do? Hope your not planning on doing any wonders here? Because once people know what you have they will treat you like a witch or better still get rid of you or your entire family”, my mother said.
“Mom I understand but this man’s spirit has been crying here I need to know what’s wrong”, I said.
“Which spirit? I can’t see any spirit. Come Gabby leave the dead to rest don’t do anything stupid”, my mother added while dragging me to the door.
“Mom please, why do I have such gift if not to use it in times like this?”, I asked.
“Gabby, don’t repeat what you did in the village that got us banished again”, my mother spat.
“What?!”, I exclaimed.
