SUSAN REVENGE Episode 25 Ayo Omolayo
We were having our weekly prayer meeting. We called it end of the week prayer meeting. Since George got born again, it became compulsory for everyone in Queens high school.
It became a great avenue and platform for winning more souls. I won more staffs, especially the new ones. I shared God’s word with the students too and won them in numbers.
George was not left out. Infact, he obeyed every instruction I gave him. Sometimes, people wondered if I was the real boss or not. Well, I partially am.
He preached in the school prayer meetings and shared testimonies with us. He often told us how God transformed his life and gave hope to those who listened.
He was such a good preacher. He preached with passion and had his audience’s full attention. He was also the student’s best friend.
Today, I was the speaker. I preached and lead a the some few points of prayers. I rounded up everything and gave the mic to George for the closing remarks.
As I handed the mic to him, I discovered his hands were shaking. Hmmmm! Why is this guy so scared of me? I acted as though I didn’t notice.
He took the mic and turned to the congregation of staffs and students. The hall was crowded with people.
“Tessy and Lola! Please, I need you both on stage”, he requested politely.
The two girls joined us on the stage
What was he doing? My spirit warned me what was coming but I could not believe that was exactly what was about to happen. Not the Bro who was so scared and began to tell me nonsense. He can’t summon this sort of courage.
“Bring it out!” He told the girls and there it was.
They were holding a tray and in the middle of it was a small box containing what you all know.
George took the ring and stood before me in front of the crowd.
“Jesus! This is too much! There are so many people watching us!”
“SHEYBI YOU TALK SAY MY FINE BOBO IS VERY SHY? I GO SHOCK YOU TODAY. YOU GO KNOW SAY MY BOBO NA BETA BOBO!” Came the gentle whisper.
“Daddy, what did you just say? My God! Holy Spirit! So you can speak pidgin English?” I asked, completely bewildered.
“I DON’T UNDERSTAND YOU OOO! WHO CREATED THE LANGUAGES IN THE FIRST PLACE?” He asked.
“I know you did, but hearing you speaking pidgin English is unbelievable! It’s not your kind of language. You are supposed to use ancient and you know, King James English!”
“SO I CAN’T USE ANY LANGUAGE I CHOSE ABI?”
“No oh! It’s just that! Imagine if someone hears that God spoke pidgin English. Sounds weird!”
I could hear him laughing and grinned as George went down on one knee and presented the box to me.
He looked into my eyes and his gaze spelt it all. He had never looked at me that way. We held our gaze as he spoke with the mic for all to hear.
“I’m in love with Susan! I’m not afraid to let my world know I am in love with her”,
“My stomach was already doing flip flops. I saw the numerous eyes staring at me and became shy. I’ve never been this shy in my entire life. How could George do this to me? I’ll make him pay for it. I’m still the mentor.
“Susan!” He looked up at me with those strong emotion filled eyes that shook my in,sides. I was struggling to maintain his gaze.
“Getting to know you has been one of the greatest luck that ever happened to me in this world. A world where people are hærdly lucky.
Getting to know you was a privilege I cherish. But knowing you was not enough. God has revealed the future to me. He has set my feet on the path he wants me to follow.
But he told me who would go with me. You are the lady he wants me to go into this next phase of my life with.To love and to cherish for the rest of my life. Susan, I love you!”
Now when was the last time I heard those words? My head spurned around at those words and my vision doubled.
“So I’m asking you the most important question of my life. Will you marry me?”
He took my hand in his so gently that my head could savour the feeling. Aah God! I used to speak with this guy for hours without an iota of emotion. Why’s all these happening so fast?
I know I love him, but today’s own is too much. How can the love you have for God’s will in marriage grow so rapidly. If there was anyone who can control her emotions, I had A¹. What’s all these?”
“MY LITTLE GIRL HAS FALLEN IN LOVE!” I could hear his laughter.
“Lord, this was so fast!”
“MY BOBO IS WAITING! GIVE HIM YES IN CAPITAL LETTERS!”
“Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!” The crowd cheered.
I look at them and smiled shyly. Turning from them and starring at the man crouched before me, my in,sides melted.
My eyes were blurred with tears. I only gave a nod.
The students rose to their feet and applauded. Whistling and sharp s¢ræms filled the hall.
Mr Wilson ran to meet us on stage and took the mic from George.
“What did she say?” He asked to the hearing of everyone.
“She said yes!” Some people in the congregation answered.
“No! We didn’t hear her voice. I’m going to put the mic to her l-ips and we would all hear her declare it to everyone here!” He replied.
“Jesus!” I s¢ræmed within me.
“SHEYBI YOU WERE THE ONE SAYING THAT MY BOBO CANNOT PROPOSE? SHEYBI YOU TALK SAY MY FINE BOBO IS SHY? TODAY IS GEORGE’S REVENGE!”
I laughed and laughed so hærd that I almost fell.
“Daddy, it’s not like that oooo!” I replied inwardly and made to dodge the mic as Mr Wilson held it up towards me.
“Daddy! It’s me you are doing like this oh! Me! Susan ooo! Your baby girl!” I replied inwardly.
Daddy was having so much fun laughing. He was also enjoying the way I was teasing him.
“I will!” I said, when Mr Wilson and the students wouldn’t give up.
“YAY!” Their shouted in excitement.
“THAT’S MY SUSAN!” The inner voice cheered.
I rolled my eyes and could hear him laughing.
“SO WHO’S THE SHY PERSON? WHO WAS TOO SHY TO SAY YES TO A PROPOSAL? He asked.
I rolled my eyes in response, grinning.
“NEXT TIME, DON’T LAUGH MY BOBO AGAIN!”
“Your bobo no dey shame!” I dared him, laughing uncontrollably.
George was smiling confidently. But nobody knew my gist partner was seriously engaging me.
That day was completely remarkable. I was just waiting for when George and I would be alone.
I was going to lash at him and give him a piece of my mind.
I was glad when he walked me to my car and began his apologies.
“So you know you owe me an apology right?” I bad eyed him, grinning.
“I’m sorry!” He started.
“Why did you have to go that public?” You know I’m not a crowd kind of person?”
“Yeah! That’s why I’m sorry!” He said, palms rubbed against each other.
“I’m going to punish you for that. I’m still your mentor right?” I asked grinning.
“Susan!” He called loudly laughing.
“Power has changed hands ooo!” He said.
I burst into laughter.
“Then I take back my yes!” I threatened playfully.
“Yeh! I was only joking oooo! How many hours do you want me to pray?” He asked.
I smiled and nodded.
“I was only kidding!” I grinned.
He looked into my eyes and spoke passionately. My in,sides melted and the way his voice sounded.
“Susan, I don’t really deserve you. When God told me you were the one for me. I told him no. I told him to change it. I told him to get me a defiled but repented lady.
I told him Susan was too pure. A v×rgiπ that had never sinned with her body. No! I don’t deserve it.
But God asked me something. He asked me who I was? I’m George Oluwagbade.
‘When was he born?’ He asked. I was born 1992. I’m thirty years old. Then he asked me, when did I die? It was then I understood what he was referring to.
Then he replied me.
“I DON’T KNOW WHO YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. THE GEORGE I KNOW WAS BORN A YEAR AGO AND EVER SINCE I KNEW HIM. HE HAS NEVER BEEN DEFILED WITH WOMEN. I KEEP ASKING MYSELF WHEN DID I SEE YOU FORNICATING, BUT MY MEMORIES HAVE ALSO BEEN AFFECTED BY THE BLOOD THAT WASHED YOUR SINS AWAY.
I CANNOT REMEMBER ANYTHING ABOUT WHO YOU WERE!”
Susan! I wept that day. God is truly love! Susan, God is love!” He said with watery eyes.
I looked at him and smiled. I felt like going into his arms to hug him, but I could see daddy giving me that warning look. So I restrained myself.
“George! I want you to also know I find it a privilege to become your wife. When I started the mentorsh¡p stuff. Hmmmm! It wasn’t as easy as it sounds. There were times, my flesh tried to take advantage and thoughts came.
But God showed me a Scripture that helped me. Delight in me and I will give you the desires of your heart. I was shocked. Then I knew God was ready to give me what I wanted, but he needed me to focus on him.
You were my heart desire. But I couldn’t just grab you. I needed him to send you. George, I’m not the best of ladies out there. I also have my flaws. But I’m ready to spend the rest of my life loving you!”
I’ve never been this emotional with a guy. Hmmmm I felt I was like a butterfly in the wind. Indeed, love was worth waiting for.
I saw the look in his eyes. They expressed his feelings completely.
I drew back and opened my car door.
“So! expect me to call you as often as possible! Calling you to know if you’ve eaten or slept well. Calling to know when next I’ll see you. Stuffs like that”,he said and winked at me.
“Hey, mind the way you call me oh. I don’t want to end up thinking about you too much”, I said grinning.
“Susan! Uncle Dare had given me a lot of books on Christian relationsh¡p.
I’ve been studying in preparation for marriage. I’ll spoil you with love”, he said grinning.
“Daddy, I can’t wait to journey into this stage of my with this man. I’m so fortunate to be his wife to be!” I said within me.
“I’LL BE WITH YOU ALL THROUGH THE JOURNEY!”
“So you think you can spoil me?” I asked.
“Bet me!” He said, holding out his tiny finger.
I burst into uncontrollable laughter.
“Susan, there’s one thing I love about you”, he said with a serious expression on his face.
“I what’s that?” I asked, curiously.
“Your smile! It’s beautiful!”
A smile appeared on my face, but I quickly God my face in my palms.
“Daddy this your son will finish me ooo!”
“YOU NEVER SEE ANYTHING!” Came the inner voice.
