River Goddess – Victor Eric
Episode 1
As a child that come from a poor background,(my dad was a palm wine tapper,my mom a petty trader) we hardly have three square mile a day.sometime we sock garri as our night food,I hardly have balance diet,but in all I usually derived joy by going to river alone,and I love swimming.that is by the way.
Due to lack of upkeep my parents decide to send me out by staying with my mom’s sister.At the early stage things was moving fine in the house,they treat me well and registered me to one of the best school then.i was very happy living with her.all of a sudden everything changed (the beginning of my sorrow) I was made to drop out of school ,and was subdued to labour that is bigger and tougher than my age.but due to I had no choice i will be doing it with pains in my heart.from head labour they started starving me in the house my eating for the day comes by 4pm in the evening .
As things was going I was enduring everything, sometimes if my dad come around and asked me how things are I will not telling him what am passing through because I don’t want to go back to our house, from hard labour to starving from starving to abuse,the beating of a thing was one of my weakness in life I hate it
One night my Aunty came back from work and saw me doing what she asked to do before she comes back(washing her clothes),she became angry, without hesitating she picked her high hill shoe and used it on my head ,she broke my head that night,and she was even threatening to do more that night out of fear I ran away from the house without having a place to sleep.
I don’t know how my legs carried me to the river that night because i have to look for a save place to sleep and the only place was under the bridge.I was there crying and asking my self some questions (what did I do
) and I was also washing the blood off my head.something happened.
I saw a lightening that comes with a wave.

Episode 2
I saw a half human half fish.but she was very calm,she asked”what are you doing here alone”I told her my stories,she said she track me down through the teste of my blood that am washing out from my injured head.
She asked me if I have eaten which I said no,she dive back to the river ,to me I thought she is gone but to my surprise she came back with a very well prepared food.out of hunger I ate the food with joy and appreciated her hospitality.she told to me to come around anytime I want some thing from her.
Before she went back I asked her ,her name she said her name was “LUCY”she dive back to the river.after eating I dozed off,but something iwhen I woked up I saw her sitting beside me in the morning,so when I felt the present of someone around me I sit up and saw her by my side.
She said that am very lucky that her brothers wanted to drag me into their kingdom but she refused them that I should just leave that place (under the bridge) immediately before they returns back.i did as she said.
But she told me that there is something in me that makes her like me,I asked her what it might be she said I don’t fear at all.that she loves it.she told me that since his brothers are not happy with me that I should not come around this place that I should go to any river in my land and call her by her name that she will be there.
I left ,when I got home my aunty didn’t allow me to enter into the house ,she said that I should go back to where am coming from,that I should go back to my poor family.i started asking her what my offence could be.but something happened immediately I asked her such question
A heavy breeze that comes like a wind storm chess both of us and some compound people inside the house,when she asked me to come into the house she didn’t know.but in that wind I was hearing the voice of LUCY.from that day goes on I and Lucy had been seeing secretary at the river side.
