“Congratulations, you are such a lucky guy and trust me, he has marked you and he will always want to know what’s going on with you, that was how we were all appointed to different top posts in this ministry, he likes to work with people that knows what they are doing” DFA explains.

I appreciated him and stood up to leave.

“did she call you?”He asked with an expression that shows his conscience is lingering on him.

“Who sir?”I asked.

“Tinuke of course, did she call you? I told her about your presentation, although it wasn’t on purpose, something led to the other and I told her, she told me she’ll call you”

” Yes sir, she called” I replied.

“Alright then. I know she will”

I left his office and jumped into Sade again.

“Man of the moment, your talk is everywhere in the ministry, hope you did not forget Saturday” she asked again.

“I thought you told me the other time, why the repetition?” I said with a fairly frowned face.

“Yes I did but just wanted to make sure you didn’t forget or cook up any excuse”

I got pissed and walked away from her. I walked passed her and headed straight to my office, I had not spoken a word to her since she snapped at me about having a boyfriend in a rude way until today.

I started compiling the report for the day, I later discovered that I had not attended to some issues in some department, the new project had taken most of my time and it was really affecting my work, I opened my mail and got loads of messages full on complains on faulty systems from different offices in the ministry.

How on earth will I divide myself to attend to all these. Something should be done. I included all complaints in my report and sent it to the necessary channels.

It was 3:15 already, I picked my phone to call Bukola and it went through this time.

“Hello, how are you and how was the presentation?” She asked.

” I am fine, you almost distracted me with your call during the presentation but its ok.”

“Oh! Really? I am so sorry, I was only calling to check up, should I be expecting you?” She asked.

“Yes I will come over, what would you like me to get for you when coming?”I asked.

“Get me my favorite”

” Ok bye”

Sade was already at the entrance of my office when I was talking to Bukola.

“Yemi I’m sorry for the way I talked to you the other time, I know you did not like it, it wasn’t intentional, I am really sorry” she apologised while locking her fingers together and looking pitiful.

“Its ok, I just thought I should know what I am really going into” that’s all.

She moved closer and drew the second chair to her comfort and sat.

“See, I have a boyfriend but he’s not in Nigeria, he’s based in Germany, he comes home twice in every six month. I have tried to keep myself for him because he has really tried for me, he gave me everything I wanted, so nothing can get me attracted to other guys, but you know I am human, and when I am triggered, I will need something to make me feel the pleasure. I can’t leave him for anyone but..but…” she stuttered with her heads down while avoiding a gaze from me.

“I understand you Sade, but you know…” She interrupted. “yes I know you have a girlfriend and I have a boyfriend too, I am not asking you to date me, all I am asking is for you to be there for me when I need a man, no feeling attached and no jealousy.” She blurted.

I sighed;

“I am so short of words right now because I don’t know what to say” I said.

“Its okay if you don’t want to do such thing with me, i just felt I could tell you how I feel because I know you will understand and won’t judge me. I am sorry I had to put you in this tight corner” She said.

“No no, that’s not what I mean, I understand you perfectly..I..I..I..,”

She didn’t allow me to finish my statement before she stood up and buried her lips in mine….

I withdrew from her immediately.

“Bimbo you have to take it easy and slow, this is office, anyone could just see us and you know what that means, please I wouldn’t want this to happen here again”.

She felt ashamed and stood slump shouldered, she wallowed in confusion, and whether to leave or stay, I felt bad the way I thundered at her. I stood up and moved closer to her and held her hands.

“See, I understand you perfectly and trust me I know how you feel right now, but we have to be very careful, we can’t jeopardize everything with a little stupid mistake. Please try to understand me, I will definitely make it up to you. Ok!, i guess I have to round up some paper works on my table.” I said.

She broke away from me and left. I sat and started thinking of what I just got myself into, what was really going wrong with me. I decided to shake it off since there was no feeling attached to it. Friends with benefit have it.

It was already some minutes to 4:0 clock, so I started parking my stuffs, Tinuke’s call came through again.

“Hello Tinuke, I thought you said 5pm and this is just some minutes to 4:0clock” I said.

“yes I know, I thought I’ll stay longer where I was but I didn’t, I am currently at ojodu, I was thinking of stopping by to pick you up from the office. Should I?” She asked.

“Oh ok, you can connect me at the second gate then” I replied.

“Alright, see you soon” Call dropped.

I shut the door to my office and was about to leave when I saw Sade still waiting outside my office.

“Aren’t you going home?” I asked.

“Of course I will but waiting for you” she replied.

Her statement amazed me, I got confused,.

“Waiting for me? I don’t understand, why are you waiting for me?”I asked anxiously.

“We are going home together, I can’t cope with this feeling, please Yemi, I really need you, you should understand better, thank God you were able to control the situation the other time but I still want it. Follow me home and I’ll make sure you are okay with me; we will come to work together tomorrow, just this night please.” She pleaded.

She drew my hands and shirt. That was when I realize the kind of mess I was really into. I had promised Bukola that I’ll be coming over to her place, Tinuke was on her way to pick me and now Sade is telling me to go home with her.

Am I not on the journey to my doom?

I looked into her eyes, i only saw a lady lost in her quest for pleasure, and she was desperate.

“I have to be somewhere important now, i might not be able to follow you home but trust me I will definitely catch up with you. Where do you live” i asked?

“Toyin street” she replied.

Toyin street is a stone throw from Opebi Allen, I can easily connect from there. That was the only thing I could use to discharge myself from her at the moment. She made me promise before she could let me out of her sight which I did because I had no excuse.

Tinuke had already called me that she’s waiting for me at the agreed location.

She hugged me tight for a while before I made her break a way from me which she did reluctantly. I left to meet Tinuke, she signaled me with the front light of a white Venza jeep, I moved closer and hopped in.

“How are you Yemi, you looked stressed up, she said.

Oh Lord, how am I going to survive all these?

I am only in Lagos to make life for myself and uplift my family, but I am stuck in the middle of love, lust, links and work.

How am I going to scale through all these without making a grave mistake?

LASGIDY LINKS Episode 15 by Adewrites

I was lost while staring at the natural lady she was as if I was seeing her for the first time, she looked beautiful in her pink armless silky gown, her black curled natural hair glitters with the rays of sun light while her love shaped lips was complimented with a slight glittering lip gloss which embossed her pink lips.

Her smile earned her a dimple. I realized I had fallen in love with her, the feeling was different from that of Sade and Bukola, I felt the reality in my feeling, and it was strange but real. On the other hand I thought it could be a mere infatuation.

I wondered why the feeling wasn’t there when I was in their house last Saturday, could it be because of the Bukola’s admission into the hospital or because i didn’t take my time to concentrate on her.

She noticed me and blushed.

“You can stare at me all day, you are free.” She said.

“I am sorry, you are so beautiful” I said.

I couldn’t help but say it, even when it took me several rehearsals and courage inside of me before my mouth could be bold enough to let it out. She felt the sincerity in the sound of my voice as she held my right hand and said thank you with a smile and anxiety hanging on her like bats.

“Congratulations for the successful presentation, Dad told me you killed it”

” Thank you, actually I didn’t, I almost fumbled.”

She turned at me and placed her hand across the top of the seat I was sitting on and held my left hand with the other hand.

“I understand you because its not easy to present to high ranked people like that, even professionals still shiver let alone a new staff that is yet to understand the system fully. Honestly, you really tried” she said.

I looked into her eyes and smiled.

“Thank you; how has been your day too” I asked.

” I am fine o” she replied as she ignited the engine and moved.

I used the seat belt so as to avoid the violation of one the FRSC rules.

Sade’s call came through. It was a big punch on my heart because I knew what the conversation would be all about and I dare not make that kind of conversation in the presence of the lady I was already in love with. I silenced my phone and ignored the call. Tinuke looked at me and I put on a smile.

“Do you drive?” She asked.

“Yes I do but only automated cars, I can drive manuals too but I am not perfect at changing gears and switching pedals”.

She laughed out loud.

“see you, Na so lady drivers dey talk” she said and we both laughed out loud.

“This is the car my Dad bought for me after I graduated with first class from Oxford University; he was so impressed that he asked for my favorite car and colour. It was a welcome gift when I came back to Nigeria. Trust me; I rocked my service year with this car”. She said as she sang along with beautiful Nubia’s “what a feeling” song track that was playing from the car stereo and shook her body to move with the rhythm.

“That’s nice; you must be a brilliant student to have graduated with first class” I said.

She wrinkled her nose.

“Brilliant for where? Or I was just lucky I didn’t school in one of the universities in Nigeria where stress of classes will take 30% of your brain, lecturers flirting with ladies is another pressure one wouldn’t want to experience, lack of professionals that are ready to explain effectively without killing you with mountains of handouts, no conducive learning environment and good learning materials. These are the things students don’t experience in British and Europeans schools as far as I am concerned. “

She explained as we moved slowly amidst the traffic along Alausa- elephant building road.

“But how come you know all these since you didn’t school in Nigeria?” I asked.

“I use to have a friend back then in my secondary school before I traveled abroad, she do tell me about how messed up the education in this country is, and how she had already spent four years in school and still in 200L, it sounded strange to me, I thought she was lying until my cousin told me the worst of the stories by saying she had written her final exam before she received a letter from the school that her O-level was not valid, it was a formulated one.”

She continued as she drove on when the traffic light turned green.

” it was her fault, she paid someone for her exams then as she explained to me, she didn’t worry about the authenticity, she just collected the print out and applied with it. But I think all these should be verified before offering admissions to students. That is wickedness of the highest order. She had to rewrite o-level and started seeking for admission. Thank God she’s now in ND 2 at Yabatech”. She explained.

Sade’s call came through again.

“pick your call now, why are you ignoring it” Tinuke queried.

I stared at my phone and picked up reluctantly so as not to make Tinuke suspicious of me.

“hello yemi, I am home now, why didn’t you pick your call the first time I called? “She asked.

“I am sorry, I was busy”

“Okay then, what should I prepare for you?”

I heard her clearly but pretended as if I didn’t.

“What did you say?”I asked.

“I said what will you like to eat because I am about cooking now.”

” Anything”, I replied.

I couldn’t speak louder. I murmured so as not to get Tinuke’s attention with my responses.

“Will you eat yam and egg?” She asked.

“Anything is okay by me”.

She took her time to ask irrelevant questions and my answers were No, Yes, not really, maybe for the rest of the conversation. Tinuke noticed my responses to the call, my voice was clear enough for her to hear my high and low tone.

“Who was that?” She asked.

“My kid sister, she came to visit me so she was asking what I was going to take for dinner.” I lied and I didn’t know why.

” Oh really? She’s in your house right now?” She asked.

” Yes” I replied.

“Please invite her over to meet join us now, I will like to meet her” she said.

“That won’t be necessary, she just came today and I want her to rest. You will meet her some other time. I will get her chicken and chips when going home, that’s her favorite” I said bluntly so as to convince her.

” Okay then, hope to meet her some day” she said.

We got to peckers in no time and she pulled over at the available space at the car park and we both alighted. She locked the door and led me into the building which shows that she was familiar with the environment, viewing her from behind appeased my eyes, I got aroused, her hour glass shape in that pink silky short gown would invite anyone’s glance many time, or was it the way she walked like a model that won’t catch anyone’s attention.

She ushered me into the VIP section where I met her friends, she had invited them to surprise me, they all stood up and clapped for me as I stepped in, my heart melted into the sea of surprise, I stood like a grounded tree, I was so short of words, they gave me their smiles and love as if I just won a trophy in an Olympic game, the standing ovation left me speechless, i was so emotional, ( yes, i was the emotional type) I covered my mouth in surprise, I couldn’t hold it but had to keep it, Tinuke noticed this, she moved closer and wiped my eyes with her handkerchief, she hugged me so tight and whispered into my ear.

“You deserve it”

Congratulations! Congratulations!! Was the word coming out from each lips.

I started wondering why Tinuke went this far to celebrate me for the success of my official assignment. I saw it as taking things too far. On the other hand, I saw it as trying to encourage me to do more. In which ever way it is, I enjoyed it.

I felt important being amidst kind of Tinuke and her friends, the caliber they were. The rich makes friends with the rich, so to say, the way they were composed, talked and related showed that they were son and daughters from rich homes. Tinuke introduced some that I had not met to me. She sat so close to me and removed my tie.

“This is not an office” and we all laughed out loud.

“This is Yemi, my very good friend, although we met on a very bad note but here we are, I am celebrating him because he earned it. He’s a good man as my Dad use to speak good of him, he’s very hard working. I decided to get closer to him because I have learned a lot from him even though he doesn’t know. Things like humility and integrity. Let me keep the rest to myself.” She appraised me she held my hand and fondled it.

This got me thinking of where I came from, was it the day that mummy would wake me up very in the morning to hawk ogi in the area for the people that likes taking it very early in the morning, or when a mountain of piled brooms will be waiting for me after school to take to the market to sell.

I wouldn’t frown nor act reluctantly to all these because I believed I had to help her to take care of us. Since baba was not serious, he would snore like a grinding engine at night after getting drunk and intoxicated by mama Asake’s palm wine.

She would hug me tight close to herself every night with my head resting on her chest and pray for me.

“You will be appreciated among your mates and you will be seated amidst kings men” that was her usual prayer.

I would say amen as I doze off on her chest. She appreciated me for my humility as young as I was.

Mr. Ajayi would tell me, “I wonder how you use come out to be the best student in mathematics, physics and chemistry every term, this is my second year as the principal of this school and I have not seen a student that can contest with you, I respect your intelligence”.

That was his usual speech at the end of every term when prices and awards are given to best students in each subjects.

Sitting amidst these special and reputable people was like dream come true and mummy’s prayers at work.

This is just the beginning, I don’t want to be carried away with the basics.

My phone vibrated and it was pictures from Sade.

She sent me her nudes and captioned it with…

“This body can’t wait to have you, where are you please?”

Pls stop confusing us with Bimbo and Sade… I’m getting confused…

Who sent the nude pix to yemi… Is it Sade or Bimbo?

Who kissed him in his office… Is it Bimbo or Sade?

Who invited him to her house… Is it Bimbo or Sade?
